Michael Ryder signs 1 Year Deal

Michael Ryder signs a 1 year $1 Million ContractAnother important piece of the puzzle has fallen into place.
As I stated earlier today , Michael Ryder did sign before the Montreal Canadiens training camp gets underway tommorow. Ryder the last player without a contract is an integral part of the Canadiens offence. After being drafted over 7 years ago, 216th overall, Ryder emerged out of nowhere to contend for the Calder Trophy.
Ryder rounds out what many believe is the Canadiens most potent offence in quite some time. Canadiens fans would have rather seen a multi year deal in place but are relieved to have our core assembled heading into camp.

As much as I would have liked to see a multi-year contract for this young talented player it was a pretty smart move by not going long term right off the bat.
Let us not forget that he was a rookie last year, and we all know about the softmore jinx that comes along to some players after a big rookie season. I personally think Ryder will play a big part on this years team, and hopefully the years to come down the road.
And to that bozo who posted that Ryder would end up in a Leafs jersey? keep on drinking that gasoline.

Ryder did have his softmore year,he scored 30 goals last year(2nd).And I believe he will have break out season…..35 plus goals.Great signing and how well he does gives him more of an incentive to do better if he wants to stay on Montreal or if Gainy wants him there longer, if he proves himself. This has the makings of a GREAT team!!

I’ve been a habs fan for more then fifty years. Now I have Mike Ryder from Newfoundland, who I love to watch and am very proud of. PLEASE, when the time comes in 2008 sign him to a long term contract.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE, DO NOT LET HIM GO TO THE LEAFS!!
GO MIKE GO!!
All the best in 2007-08.
