Royal Visit: Kings and Habs

The 1993 Stanley Cup Final matchup repeats itself tonight as the Los Angeles Kings take to the Bell Centre ice against the Habs.

The Kings don’t get up to Montreal very often so it’s always an interesting game to watch. The Kings are coming off a 5-1 beating by the Senators, which saw several fights and a scary skate to the helmet of Dominic Hasek.

The NHL’s most hated player Sean Avery makes his Quebec debut. Avery having trashed French hockey players in the media several times this year will probably get a very cold welcome. For entertainment sake, I’d love to see someone mix it up with him tonight. Who will step up? Maybe Garth Murray whol will play his first ever game with the Canadiens tonight after being called up from Hamilton.

Despite last night’s loss the Kings have a strong team this year while Montreal is still struggling badly. Ex-Hab Mathieu Garon will probably get the chance to start against his old team in his hometown.

The Canadiens would love 2 additional points before settling in for a week of rest that will hopefully help to mend their wounds and get them back to winning.
