  • Aaron Downey claimed by Canadiens

Ok, maybe not the blockbuster deal we’re looking for but the Habs pick up Forward Aaron Downey on waivers from St-Louis.

Don’t know much about him, but 6’2″ puts him about 3 feet taller than most of our forwards.

  • Road Trip rolls on

What can you do after an effort like Saturday night in Vancouver? Put it behind you and move on.

The Canadiens still have 4 games to go on their road trip. Despite 2 consecutive losses and suffering extreme embarassment in Vancouver, the Habs are still only 7 points out of 6th place and hold 4 games in hand.

The Habs have still yet to fall below .500 this season although they are approaching it quickly. The Maple Leafs are suffering one of their worst losing streaks in recent history and the Devils win streak ended last night. The Canadiens are still very much in the race despite playing awful hockey and undeserving of a playoff birth.

After a loss like Saturday’s the trade winds are blowing wildly again as they do after any ugly loss. Bob Gainey shot down the idea that a trade was a quick fix or easy solution. There’s something wrong with this team at the core and swapping a couple players won’t solve much.

It will not get any easier tonight. The Hurricanes have only lost 4 times in regulation at home this year.
