First off pitts would never do that and second pitts would never do that and finally third pitts would never do that but i would do it in a heartbeat. The habs have alot of young prospects comming up to fill the voids plus there are free agents too.

It wasn’t that many years ago that the legendary Sam Pollock traded Billy Hicke and some other lesser lights to the Oakland Seals for Guy Lafleur. They said it couldn’t happen, it wouldn’t happen but number 10 wore a habs jersey.

Gail, no it isn’t. Please refer to post #2. HabsBlog has way too much time on his hands :-P Habs don’t have a chance in hell of ever seeing Crosby wearing the tricolor.

But there’s still good news. Theodore and Brisebois continue to demonstrate their innate skills for deteriorating whatever hockey club they’re with. Speaking of the Ave’s, I wouldn’t mind seeing Rob Blake in a Habs jersey… c’mon Bob, open the vault for this one this summer!

I disagree Gumper. I think Crosby will be in the tricolor but not for another 6 years of so.

Rob Blake will be a great addition to the Canadiens, if we can get him, ……. however, even more important than that is to find someone to play with Kovalev.

If Kovalev had a center that to play with, we would have beaten Carolina !!!

Maybe someone from his countryland. …. let me see… how about Ovechkin ….

Who says Gainey wants…a spoiled brat!! Hated by most players in the leauge….give nothing up for him.He need serious maturing. With way Pits were this year hopeless.Rebuilding will take a few years…Crosbie won’t be in the playoffs for a least till they can build what was destroyed the last few year through poor trades.

According to Red Fisher in the Gazette there are many players who would have second thoughts of coming to Montreal and the media frenzy here. I used to think that kind of stuff was b.s. (this is the birthplace of hockey with the best fans in the world), but apparently the Koivu picture and language-baiting by the Journal de Mtl. had a lot of players talking — league-wide.

My question is this: will the best UFAs be willing to come to Montreal given an equal offer from a place like Carolina or Atlanta where they can walk around anonymously? Let’s not kid ourselves, these guys are human too and too much attention can be a very distracting (just look at the gangstas) and unwelcome thing.

Phil it was a whole thing how a reporter asked koivu a question in french and he couldnt replie. The reporter did it on purpose just being a ****.But players on the team said that he does speak a little french but is uncomfortable speaking it.

    Jack,

The Koivu incident does not help intice players to come to Montreal. That is for sure, however, the real superstars, who strive on having a lot of pressure, will love to come to Montreal. This is why when Gainey was asked about getting free agents he said:

” … But if you don’t care, or it’s too tough, or too lively or too spicy or whatever, then you’re in the wrong place. But I think there are people out there looking for spice, and this is the place to get it.”

Look at Kovalev. Kovalev could have gone to NY Rangers and gotten a litte more money, but he wanted montreal because of the atmosphere. The problem with Kovalev, though, is that he has nobody to help with ….

Joey, that’s a good response. I think you’re right (certainly who can argue with Gainey?!). P.S. It’s definately true that players in other sports (ex. basketball) thrive on the rockstar cults.
Montreal’s a mighty fun place to play when you’re doing well, despite the pressure. All signs point to some good seasons coming up, so let the games begin! — and YES, get a center for Kovalev!!

lol ya i think players that would not want to come to montreal probably wouldnt give 100 percent anyways.Montreal is a very tough market to play in,so if you cant handle the heat get out of the kitchen. There is never a dull moment playing for the habs and if you are a player that wants to take the back seat than go sign with the blue jackets go habs go

I heard a rumor that Kirk Muller might be hired as an assistant coach ….

That will be awesome…. he has a lot of energy and always positive… It will definitely help the team..

Kirk Muller was a gritty player and always gave his all.His energy would transfer to any hockey player.I read somewhere on the “Gazette” that this might happen. But then again rumors abound.

this story is not a gag. it is a fact. it wil be some time. but it will happen. it will happen because everybody involved wants it to. even him. love cannot be stopped. he will be a hab in 3 years. he will play out his contract in pittsburgh.
then he will probably sign and ask that he be allowed to see a priest…behind closed doors he will ask forgiveness for his goals against the habs this season, not knowng that they hve already been forgiven. Once his heart has been relieved of this burden, he will be able to relax and flourish as a Montreal Canadien.

Whoever left the message that Crosby needs maturing is right…he’s such a baby when it comes to winning and losing. I’d never trade anyone on Les Canadiens for him. I think the Habs will take the Cup this year as long as Huet can do exactly what he did last year in the playoffs. Is it just me or did the Canes get a bit lucky on the series clinching goal?
