Err…. wtf is this?
September 22nd, 2006 at 12:57 pm
yeah what the hell? A little bit of explanation perhaps. Are they gonna scrap it out or somethin?
September 22nd, 2006 at 1:15 pm
Lol.
Scrap it out figuratively, for the last forward spot.
Perogie is not impressing and all the Guillaume hype is pushing him closer.
Let’s see what he can do on the road in Toronto.
September 23rd, 2006 at 7:30 pm
Man I know it’s pre-season but the Habs can’t stay out of the box.
I hope this is not a sign of things to come.
0-3 in the pre-season is a bad thing,
it just goes to show that some of our young guys are not as good as we thought.
September 23rd, 2006 at 9:51 pm
Make that 0-4! And guess what? We open the season in Buffalo!Loss! Then we go to Toronto! loss! Then we go to Philadelphia!loss! then we’ll be 0-3! Wonderful start! By the way, in the game tonight, which we lost, of course, all 3 goals Montreal scored, were on the powerplay, which means we can’t score any even strength goals! And Toronto, didn’t even have all their regulars in the lineup. Sundin didn’t plat. we let rookies beat us, again! The habs are taking too many penalties, and their defence is HORRIBLE! Their offence is HORRIBLE TOO! T2 of the goals Toronto scored, should have been stopped! Well folks, this is going to be a long season, but short on the amount of time the Canadiens will play, because they won’t be in the playoffs!I told all of you, what the weaknesses of the habs are, and nobody listened. Are you listening now?
September 23rd, 2006 at 9:54 pm
I agree with the last response. The habs don’t look ready for the season. Lots of work to be done. Are you listening Mr. Gainey?
September 23rd, 2006 at 10:32 pm
Relax guys the rookies are getting a chance. The team is in good hands. If this was the regular season…I would be worried. These games are against nothing teams and in the end mean little.Rather have slump now then in the regular season. I guess the press in Ontario and Quebec will hype the hell out of this.
September 24th, 2006 at 12:51 pm
I agree with Phil; habsland and heart: take it easy. I’ll agree with you if this were the regular season. Nice to win now, sad to lose, but it means absolutely nothing (look at how Kovalev played last night — the pressure’s not yet on).

That Huet guy isn’t looking too sharp to start things off. Seven goals allowed in 60 minutes of play ?! Good thing we have Abby to back him up.
Hopefully now they will start trying to actually win the games.
I liked Latendresse’s play last night. He is big and active. I barely notice when Perezhogin is playing. I say give Latendresse a chance to start the year, and send Perezhogin down. If if doesn’t work out after 10-12 games, then you can switch them again.
September 24th, 2006 at 5:49 pm
Perezhogin won’t clear waivers - just like Hainsey last year.
September 24th, 2006 at 6:52 pm
Clear waivers? How does that work? I thought Perezhogin was already under contract (pro contract) for this year.
The other thing would be to put him in the lineup list at the beginning of the year, and a month or so from now put him down if he doesnt perform. In the meantime let Latendresse use Murray’s spot.
September 24th, 2006 at 9:54 pm
lol relax guys this is just the preseason Wow i thought it would take a little longer before people started jumping OFF the bandwagon. Some things never change lol
September 25th, 2006 at 4:54 am
If you send a player with an NHL contract to the minors, he has to clear waivers when he is recalled to the NHL. That is how Montreal lost Ron Hainsey to Columbus last season. If the player has a two way contract (2 different salaries depending on where he plays) he does not have to clear that hurdle and can be sent back and forth any number of times during the season.
Like PACTOM said though, let’s relax here - it’s only training camp. There is no trophy at the end and no one gets eliminated. It’s just working out the wrinkles and smoothening rough edges. Getting line combos tunes, defense pairs reaquianted, and judginge some rookies against big league competition. Only the last three exhibition games matter much.
September 25th, 2006 at 7:28 am
Allright everyone, just a little bit of perspective here!IT’S PRE-season that means that most players (NHLERS not ROOKIES)like it or not spend their time wondering which broad on cresent street their going to bang after the game is done, before they go home to their wives. And not about the outcome of a meaningless hockey match made up of 60% hopefulls that will be on their way back to the minors anyway!!!Is it the right attitude..NO! But if the NHL was full of players like HIGGs and Koivu it would be a different league!having been at all three games in MTL, Samsonov looks like he just needs to find his stride, which is normal for any newcomer that plays a KEY position, as does Huet, give him at lease a good 10 games or so to get his form!Koivu looks to be about the best thing on the ice right now! But that’s why he’s the C. So ease up on the panic guys the season only starts in October! and until then…GO HABS GO !

RE: Latendresse taking a spot
Found this quote on the TSN site:
Following Montreal’s second exhibition game vs. the Bruins, new Habs coach Guy Carbonneau said he was disappointed in the Sergei Samsonov-Mike Ribiero-Alexei Kovalev line. While, last year’s camp sensation, winger Guillaume Latendresse, has been getting the locals in a froth again with his exciting play. “That’s fun,” said Carbonneau. “But the fans won’t put him on this team.” - Boston Globe
September 25th, 2006 at 1:17 pm
Every comment Carbonneau has made has been leaning towards him NOT being on the team. That’s why I think even if he scores 2 hat tricks he’s still gonna be sent back.
September 25th, 2006 at 7:28 pm
It would be a huge mistake to send Latandresse back to the minors. He can only gain experience by putting him in the lineup. Sending him back, will only hurt his confidence, and he will gain nothing. Give him a chance in the NHL to see what he can do. What will it take to stick with the big club? As far as I can see, he adds size, strength, and scoring talent, something the Canadiens dearly need, and are now lacking! How can Carbo take Ribeiro over Latandresse? I say send Ribeiro packing, he doesn’t belong. Give Latandresse a chance, because I really think he will do what Higgins did last year. Just let him play!
October 2nd, 2006 at 10:22 am
I think rebeiro just needs a nother chance he is after all a prity good play maker sure hes not tough but he dose have some skill.
October 4th, 2006 at 12:39 pm
Some skill that we had enough of here in Monreal…I think we did a great thing trading him
