Samsonov wants out!
-
Good Riddance!
Sergei Samsonov and his agent aren’t pleased. Not pleased with how he’s been treated in Montreal.
Well roll out the red carpet for Mr. Samsonov because he’s certainly earned it, hasn’t he? He should be calling the shots right? With his performance he’s earned the right to demand what he wants, earned the right to flap his gums to the media.
Samsonov will never recover from this. Should he NOT be traded, the taste he’s left in the mouths of Canadiens fans is bitter. Very bitter.
Who in their right mind will take Samsonov and his salary? The big rumor is Chicago. Gainey will have to pull some strings to come out ahead on this one.
Congratulations Mr. Samsonov, you’ve brought no class to an organization built on it.

Sammy, The feeling is mutual!
February 6th, 2007 at 12:53 pm
all i know is that tonight is a huge game!!!! atlanta is not beating buffalo. all we have to do is give carolina a good beating and we are tied for third in the conference. it’s our time to get ahead and solidify a spot in the playoffs. go habs go. as for samsonov. trade him for a bag of chips and a pepsi. i don’t think he’s worth much more then that. good luck tonight boys.
February 6th, 2007 at 12:54 pm
Is this an echo from November… we probably would have thrown you “out” long ago if someone would have taken you. You were never a good fit! You’re too small to be on this defensive style club.
February 6th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, sucker! What a waste of money, I feel sorry for Gainey. Samsonov, Niinimaa, Downey for a 1st rounder. There ya go, case closed.
Or maybe just Samsonov for a black sharpie and 20 lbs of used sock tape.
February 6th, 2007 at 12:58 pm
It’s too bad really. We might have to package him with someone we DON’T want to lose. Samsonov is a talented player…too bad it never showed as a Hab.
February 6th, 2007 at 1:08 pm
Gazette’s - reporting no changes to tonight’s line up from Sunday’s except a possible Markov insertion if healthy. Sammy has seen his last days with a CH on his chest… New home press box!
February 6th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
Actually, I am jealous! He gets Paid $3.5 to watch hockey every night! Send him to Hamilton if we can not find an easy exit!
February 6th, 2007 at 1:18 pm
Samsonov and Niinima for BIG Bertuzzi,Habs allways take care of their players.Good for Florida “ready to play” ,while big Bert will have it together for the big show,AWSOME…This way while rebuilding we can still injoy the rest of the year and Bertuzzi a chanch at saving his career so were ever he goes next year,he ,his wife and family are ok,U bet he”ll be trying!!! Win or lose tonite ,Cole 2 goals,we need bigger D MEN for Hab Killers like him ,SOURAY can”t do it all ,all the time.
February 6th, 2007 at 1:32 pm
lol, Some harsh words, but I can’t say I don’t understand where you’re coming from on this topic.
I wouldn’t expect Gainey to be able to trade Samsonov for a guy like Todd Bertuzzi even with Niinimaa in the deal. That deal sounds absolutely horrible if you keep in mind the fact that Florida traded Roberto Luongo for Bertuzzi.
Right now, at $3.5M a year and only 22 points, Samsonov is barely worth a 3rd Round pick IMO.
February 6th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
What a selfish WHINER!!! We should trade him to the Maple Duds, he would be in good company with that CLASSLESS organization, except for the fact that they are in the same division as us and knowing the Hab’s luck with ex-players (John Leclair)he would probably come back to haunt us. I say GOOD F*&^ING RIDDANCE!!!!!
February 6th, 2007 at 1:37 pm
I allso predict the trade to happen on around the 9th,10th,11th,that way Samsonov can john leclair us on the 13th with a hat trick, ” Florida’s in Habland onthe 13th” the little prick!!!

From sportsnet
We ain’t getting nothing for Sammy! But Maybe some Cap room if someone picks him up… I guess Bob read my #7 and desided he wasn’t going to let Sammy’s pride wait for a trade!
February 6th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Well there goes my career as the Habs Silvia Browne, lol..
February 6th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Like I’ve said before, if Sergei Samsonov had his **** together at any time over the past couple of seasons (a) Joe Thornton would still be in Boston and (b) Edmonton would be last season’s Stanley Cup Champs…
His lack of production got a franchise player traded out of Boston (did anyone really think big Joe was the problem on that underacheiving team?) and then for an encore, Sammy completely disappears in the ‘06 playoffs as the Oilers fall in 7 to the fluky dirty Hartford Carolinas…
The guy has talent and moves but is lacking in guts and grit, I say he has one last chance to salvage his NHL career somewhere before fading away like a Gilbert Dionne, hopefully Bob Gainey can find that place for him and actually get something in return (I like the Flyers, Samsonov for Calder, bust for bust, what does Philly have to lose and their GM’s an inexperienced dummy).
BRING ON Mickey Grabovsky from the ‘Dogs!!!!
February 6th, 2007 at 1:57 pm
smiler2729 - Seems like Boston still has their problems! They’ll probably get rid of Chara?!?!
February 6th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
I’d be surprised if anyone picks him up off waivers…
February 6th, 2007 at 2:06 pm
Someone can pick him up for half on re entry.
HMmm.
February 6th, 2007 at 2:12 pm
Habs Blog - How does that work? Would we foot part of the bill for this year or next year or something?
February 6th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
I believe if he clears, then re enters. The Canadiens are on the hook for 50% of the salary.
Same as Ron Hainsey not that long ago.
February 6th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
Would that be for the remainder of the the year or the whole contact?
February 6th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Yup, like the Hainsey deal where the Habs were on the hook for half of what was left on his $550,000 salary
February 6th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
Its one thing to pay 3.5 mil to let Samsonov watch the game from the pressroom, but to pay him to play against us???well that’s NUT’S”Ko-Ko for Co-Co puffs!!” One bad move after another and again who really pays: WE FANS!!! Now I’m really pissed off!!!!!
February 6th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
My real thoughts are about what Gainey is gonna do with A) the extra cap space and b) the empty roster space. Do you think they’ll stay with Murray and Downey or bring up a Bulldog or a trade?
February 6th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
Well according to Snake and Rob, it’s all our fault for not treating King Sammy with respect. Blame it all on the fans eh Rob and Snake?
February 6th, 2007 at 2:55 pm
Yes, Rob put Sammy onto this blog and Sammy read all my posts and cried to his agent!
February 6th, 2007 at 3:09 pm
JonoPEI - I don’t think there are goning to bring anybody up until something would actually happen to Sammy. His Cap money still applies and we already have Perez sitting in the stands and Begin possibly returning. Maybe this is the beginning of the shopping season? We’ll see how the players react on the ice tonight…
February 6th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
For all of you media and fan haters, where is your excuse for Sammy then? We all know he is not worth the money he is paid for. We could list quite a few habs too who have not being working for their paycheque of late.
Yup blame it all LeJournal and me a habs fan. Yes we go on the ice interfere and we hold back Kovalev and force Koivu to get hooking penalties, yes we the fans and the media are on the ice but you don’t see us….
Boy the excuses these pros use for non-performance is funny, what’s funnier are the likes of Rob and Snake who support those ridiculous theories.
February 6th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
Samsonov was actually showing some amount of effectiveness on the third line. Still not worth $3.5M/year (not even close), but he might have been more trade worthy had he played with Bonk and Johnson a bit more. Those two create space for a player like Samsonov to operate.
Still, there’s not much room in the lineup for him, what with Perezhogin, Murray, Downey and eventually Begin trying to find a regular spot.
February 6th, 2007 at 4:06 pm
So if he gets picked up we get nothing? If we traded him we could’ve gotten SOMETHING, no? Wasn’t Chicago interested in him, we should’ve traded Sammy and Rivet for Aucoin and Smolinski(one of the rumours). At least for something. Hopefully he’s opening salary cap to make a big move or something.
February 6th, 2007 at 4:06 pm
You know this all came about trying to complament the Koivu …Kovalev line.If you watch the utra talented Kovalev,he plays like a shark and because of that style, you never know when he’s going to strike. So its impossable to build a line around him.Bob should of got a line member to complament Koivu,a big strong in the corners ,trigger happy player with a proven history, thus when Kovalev goes to feed all the better. NOW WE HAVE SAKU BURNED OUT, KOVALEV PLAYING WITH HIMSELF AND 7 MILLION DOLLARS IN THE PRESSROOM AND DOWNEY, MURRAY AND NEMO”NIINIMA” ON THE ICE FOR A PLAYOFF RUN. THANKS…THANKS ALOT!!!
February 6th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
So how true is the Forsberg rumour that Montreal is in the hunt ?
Msquare
February 6th, 2007 at 4:17 pm
HEy JOshtm;
YOu got what you wanted!!!!!!! BUt yet you still seem to dribble out negativity instead of joy. ENOJOY THIS DAY!! Gainey did ity for you. THe broken down players are on their way out. ALl thanks to you. YOU DID IT! Gianey has followed your words yet you fail to mention him. WE DID IT!
February 6th, 2007 at 4:25 pm
Xhabsfan - You may have been on to something if we would have started the season in January, but we thought we did have people complimenting in the first half of the Season. Higgins is top 5 in scoring yet missed nearly 1/3 of season. Koivu was on a career high season. Ryder was on track to be a 30 goal score which is what was expected. Then they stumbled… Maybe he’s pissed because Souray is rumored to make more than him next year?LOL
I do agree SAKU needs somebody with some size to play with because he is the only guy that will get in front tof the Net lately and he’s always in some scrum after the play. He’s probably worn out from carrying the 1st line for so long! He played better with Lats, but Lats lately is trying to stick handle around everyone… without any success!
February 6th, 2007 at 4:29 pm
Are you all just looking at his stats? Watching the games as of late, he’s moving very good out there. How can Sammy be productive when getting just 12 minutes of ice time with little of that coming on the PP? Why not look at other forwards averaging 16-18 minutes that aren’t producing?
Last season once traded to Edmonton he tallied 16 pts in 19 regular season games. For those going by stats for production, those are great numbers. Playoff time he produced 15pts in 24 games. What kind of production would make any of you TRUE fans happy? Maybe it’s just that he doesn’t fit the style of play that Carboneau is looking for. Should have seen that then during the summer before making him an offer. He’s gifted with the puck and any fan can see that by watching him on the ice when given a chance.
what if he was averaging a point a game but wanted to be traded cause he didn’t like mgmt? I’m sure all you haters would still find something to complain about in regards to Samsonov and how it’s his fault instead of what’s wrong with management.
If you have a disagreement with your current employer, and feel it would be better for both side to part ways, what is wrong with that? Alittle more complicated when you have contracts and salary caps to worry about.
Also, can’t fault a player for getting the money that someone is willing to pay. I know we all would take more money if given to us whether we thought we actually were worth it. I’m glad Sammy got his deal. Hopefully things will workout for both sides.
February 6th, 2007 at 4:39 pm
I did indeed praise the new look habs early in the year and then Gainey shipped the rookies down and it was back to the old grinders and winders….
February 6th, 2007 at 5:05 pm
I love samsonov…I never seen so much ignorance in my life. The guy moved here and bought a house. He wanted to be a huge part of this team and 10 games in carbonneau decided to make him the scapegoat. He is a playmaker primarily, not a sniper and he needed someone who he can set up and score. They guy is in the middle of the pack in Canadiens scoring and he did that while getting 3-4 shifts a night, absolutely zero power play time where he excels and constantly blamed every night..If he got the powerplay time kovalev had he would have just as many points. I have been a habs fan since I was born and I watch every game…Even though he wasn’t scoring for obvious reasons he played hard and backchecked…so what about Kovalev? koivu? higgins? ryder? how come they aren’t getting scratched of blamed? only samsonov…this is a team game and the underachieving habs are average at best…last thursday in pittsburgh..his line with bonk and johnson…both who are not as good as him..were the best line they had and then he gets scratched…he was awesome out there. and he didn’t get any pp time, not a shift in Ot and wasn’t chosen as a shooter in the shootout which he deserves
Carbonneau is all over the place this year and the team is playing awful…In addition…Huet earned the number #1 job in Mtl hands down…when he lost it wasn’t his fault it was the teams..he stole so many games this year i cant even count and he was an allstar for god’s sake…he had better stats then raycroft, luongo kipper etc and all they’re coaches stood behind them win or lose because they recognized it was the team’s fault they were losing, not their star goalies…and because of that these goalies got the appreciation and confidence they needed and every one of them is heating up down the stretch…carbo once again screwed huet with this stupid 2 man system which never works and come play off time you are gonna have huet cold and unconfident when abby proves he is not number #1….it’s disgusting..I hope they trade both sammy and huet to teams who will appreciate them…It’s getting harder and harder to watch what gainey and carbonneau are doing to this team…
February 6th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
Habs blog:
You have missed the boat on this one completely. This is absolutely terrible for the Habs. This is not good news at all.
Remember that Samsanov was signed because Shanahan and Arnott and Sykora refused to play for the Habs. The media, fans and coach set up a lose-lose situation with Samsanov early in the season, and no one has backed down. Ask Sammy if fan and media pressure in Montreal had anything to do with why he wants to leave, jerktm.
Good week for the Habs; lose the potential future by pissing off Crosby. Lose Samsanov.
Ooopppss, I forgot that I am a Pens fan now; we’ll take him in return for a bucket of pucks. Watch him pot about 20 points in the playoffs in our run to the Cup!!! Any whack jobs want to criticize Souray too because we need a tower of strength on D.
February 6th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
Hey Rob sounds happy, at least someone’s happy. By the way Carbo’s comments of late have all but trashed the habs Rob, next we await to see if Gainey also supports his coach on this. Geeze, Rob, if Guy Carboneau is unhappy with the habs….kinda of self explanatory then isn’t it. Or you can lead a horse to water but….
February 6th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
ROB THE BUM WHO DOESN’T KNOW NOTHING BOUT HOCHKEY SPEAKS AGAIN!!! First of all your buddy Samsonov is the biggest waste of space on this team!! Thank God they finally woke up and realized he’s garbage!! Also I’ve never seen a guy be on Crosby’s D*ck more than you!!! Who cares about this actor, if you think the penguins are ever gonna get rid of this kid your crazy!! He’s on that team for life just like Dipietro. You dont have to loose sleep cause they pissed off mr. crosby!! They can have him!!
February 6th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
Iceberg14 - People did not start coming down on Sammy until he started opening his mouth the first time in November. Ignorance, just because he played well with Bonk and Johnson does mean he is playing up to potential. Pleks, Perez, Streit all have benefited from Bonk and Johnsons hard work. But a positive +/- is worth $3.5 million.
The reason Carbo has not come down on Kovalev, Koivu, Higgins, Ryder…ect is that their slumps have not dragged on the whole year. You have to earn your way onto the powerplay, shotout squad, PK. I remember a few Shotouts where he was given the opp to try to break a slump but failed. Similar to Higgins last Thursday and tonight Higgi on the 3rd line. Carbo does not have many options to motivate the team, but the #1 tool is icetime. He took some away some from Sammy and he was feed up; He ran his mouth, so he is finding an early exit!
We already have Kovalev who handles the puck (sometimes too much) but turns it over less and at least passes for a few points. Sammy was NOT a good fit, no hard feelings! Good riddens…
Go Habs Go
February 6th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
LOL! All what you guys do is complaining about what others say.
Joshtm: No one reads your posts, lol, for God’s sake…….SHUT UP.
You make everyone hate each other. What an evil!
Hey Rob, is there any trophy or medals that goes to the worst fan of the year? Well, is there is, then Joshtm is on his run to win it.
Congrats Joshtm!
February 6th, 2007 at 5:43 pm
Souray = Franchise
February 6th, 2007 at 6:07 pm
SAMMY IS AND ALLWAYS WILL BE OVERRATED. SINCE HE CAME INTO THE LEAUGE IN 97 ALL THE ATTENTION HE GOT WAS FROM THE HELP OF HIS BETTER LINE MATES IN BOSTON AND EDMONTON. I HATED WHEN THE SIGNED HIM AND I LOVE TO SEE HIM LEAVE. HE WANTS TO PLAY ON THE NUMBER 1 LINE SO BAD LET CHI OR LA TAKE HIM
February 6th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
Geeze Ziman.. a little harsh? Do you have nothing else going on in your life than to put that much hate and anger towards a person that I am willing to guess you don’t even know? You probably have no idea what has/is going on behind the scenes, but with statements like that I doubt you even care. You just run your mouth on an issue that you know nothing about. Do everyone a favor on this site and keep your mouth shut. Your post did nothing for this site and your opinions have no validity.
February 6th, 2007 at 6:34 pm
Hey Michael, I don’t see a Ziman post here. He usually has some of the more sane views here, so I’d cut him some slack regardless.
As for the Smolinski/Aucoin for Samsonov/Rivet rumours, the trade is almost even in terms of dollars (Rivet/Samsonov make $500k more combined). But the two Hawks definitely outperform our two. So why would that trade happen?
Maybe because Aucoin is injured (again) and the Hawks are sick of him sitting more than playing? Maybe Gainey thinks the Habs can wait for Aucoin to heal up, and play Niinimaa until the playoffs? Niinimaa hasn’t been bad of late — not to say that he’s been good either, but he doesn’t hurt the team like he used to.
The Hawks are second to last in the West, and stand almost no chance of making the playoffs. I don’t know how long Aucoin’s and Smolinski’s contracts are, but Samsonov has one more year, and Rivet is a UFA after this season. Maybe they’re looking to shed longer contracts for future flexibility?
Or most likely … just another BS rumour…
February 6th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
kazmojo,Niinimaa”NEMO” PLAYED ONE GAME IN HOW LONG?,Dude ,did U not see him give the puck away against the Pens,he is another big wast of cash! Put him on a plane out of here. The wheels ARE FALLING OF OFF MAN,and NEMO,DOWNEY AND MURRAY are not and never will be the answer!Funny enough,I think the only thing that’s going to fix this big mess ,the play of Erik Cole, now that saddens me to no end!!!
February 6th, 2007 at 6:56 pm
They must have filtered it and got rid of it because it was filled with swear words and nasty name calling.. totally innapropriate.
February 6th, 2007 at 7:15 pm
That’s for after the game Ziman, lol
February 6th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
Jack, Jack jacko, you are just as bad as me and Rob with your pompous judgements. Honestly do Rob and I deserve that kind of hate from you? For what being fans? As fans we have the right to agree or disagree, most of all we are also habs fans. But I guess Jack no one is good enough for even you.
What you call me evil for crapping on Sammy and Ninny? For saying the same things about the Habs as Carbo is now saying? Is that so Jack?
Honestly. Talk about denial.
The most I have done is disagree with some comments which I don’t support, however I do support the habs in spite of the adversity that people say faces them. The great culprits, LeJournal the anti-hab rag, how dare they say nasty things about the habs, and fans, how dare they expect their team to win eh Jack? The government, how dare they punish the overpaid superstars with taxes that any rich person faces? HAHAHAA!! Listen to yourselves, honestly, and you would step inside the Bell Centre, come on say those things in the lobby of the Centre and see if you get away scot free….
February 6th, 2007 at 8:29 pm
I really don’t think the turmoil surrounding the tean now, is going to help us. It is a major distraction for a team that already has it’s share of problems. no matter what, we need to support this team. and now that 1 cancer is leaving, maybe, just maybe this team will focus on the game instead of it’s troubled players. Everyone knows we need more scoring, and if it were possible to make a trade, Gainey would have done it. Nobody in their right mind, wants an underachiever, over paid player, with an overinflated ego.
So, what should Gainey do? I guess the best scenario, is that after Samsonov clears waivers, trade him for a draft pick. Then go for a much needed center, and maybe part with Rivet and Aebischer. I think Carbo played Aebischer back to back games, to showcase him for a possible trade. Let’s hope so.
If we could put together a few wins that certainly would help a trade get done.
This franchise never seems to go thru a season without turmoil. It’s always calm before the storm, then whamo! Maybe our nickname should have been ” The HURRICANES”
February 6th, 2007 at 8:33 pm
I have a hard time listening to fans who critize Carbo and Gainey. Have they made all the right moves maybe not what management team has, but we do have one of the best power plays in the league and our penalty killing unit is pretty darn good too. What we need is more consistency out of some of our star players especially five on five. Yes we could use a power forward and someone to center our second line. Every time could use a stronger defence so if we can get someone to improve there great. But complaining about our management is pretty stupid. After all it was not that long ago when we were not even close to making the playoffs. Yes we need to pick it up a little and play better than 500 hockey down the stretch and hopefully a trade will shake the team up enough that we can get back on the right track. But lay off the management that is one of our stronger points as I see it.
February 6th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Hey BeSen, its Carbo and Gainey that hired Samsonov, it sure as heck wasn’t Ziman, or XHABSFAN or hey it wasn’t the City Hall, or what’s the other excuses? Revenue Canada hired Samsonov….honestly, the excuses just keep coming and those for and against the actions of the habs organization….
Isn’t it odd the George G would spend his own money to build Liverpool a new stadium but he sure as heck won’t give us any leg room to hire some real talent? Or how Gauthier and Gainey all but handcuff themselves by throwing money at players no one else wants. Heck if Gainey went to a yard sale, he’d buy the most expensive useless thing guaranteed to break down…he just has that wonderful Midas touch. Yet he can pick the rookies…just what gives? Good with rookies but just crapshoot out of luck with real hockey players? And then there’s Carboneaus Las Vegas Lines, just pull the arm on the one arm Jack and figure out who’s gonna play on which line, heck next we’ll see Huet playing rightwing in his full gear, send Youpie out there too won’t you Guy?
Okay I go to far, but honestly sometimes it just makes you wonder.
February 6th, 2007 at 8:52 pm
BeSen is right on. You wouldn’t believe some of the vitriolic tripe I was reading on TSN’s website about Gainey and Carbo. You would think that they were the worst Gm and coach in the NHL according to some people. The big issue here is Samsonov WASN’T PRODUCING, he whined in November about not getting enough ice time, he whined when he got benched the second time and finally CRYED to his agent to be traded out on Montreal. When a player doesn’t want to pay for a team then he HAS to be moved or his attitude will spread to the rest of the team. The Habs signed him as a last ditch effort to improve the team and unfortunately it did not work out. It is time to turn the page.
February 6th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
Hey doggone, it’s Huet’s horrible record, he’s in a slump, he’s lost more than he has won, that is why the habs are in a minnie slump there, it’s all the goalies fault, cause Souray ain’t gonna win us game winning goals every time, and our offense is hit and miss, and we have no defense to speak of really…..once Huet snaps out of it then we’ll have a chance at putting our foot in the door for the playoffs, it may take bringing up some new blood though from the dogs, Andy Over Andy Over, bring Grabby and Kosty over cause Rivet sure as heck isn’t standing tall on defense….
February 6th, 2007 at 9:06 pm
Classic trade. Jokinen is unhappy, Sammy is unhappy, maybe Jokinen can be unhappy next in MOntreal and Sammy can in turn be unhappy down in the states…or hey Forsberg says okay to a trade, maybe Sammy and who knows who Gainey would give up would go…
February 6th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
Or hey wouldn’t Rivet and Sammy look good in Coyotes uniforms? Maybe the Great One can do us a favour, maybe in return for a first round draft pick, cause of Phoenix’s place, we might get a decent rookie prospect….we’ll throw in Downie perhaps and bring up Butterfly Biron in hopes he’ll sting like a bee finally….
February 6th, 2007 at 9:35 pm
Well joshtm I guess you showed your true colours this time and they were not Red, white and blue. I did not say that they did not make any mistakes but what GM hasn’t. They took a chance that he would fit in and he didn’t. So when you can show me another GM that hasn’t made a mistake during their term maybe I will agree with you. If Samsonov had scored 20-30 goals I wonder what you would be saying then. They gambled on a former first round draft choice and sometimes the gamble works and sometimes is doesn”t. Many GM’s have done the same thing and sometimes it works and sometimes is doesn’t. I guess my point is that we have a good team but not a great team and maybe with a trade or two we can make our team better. Then again maybe not. Only time will tell. If we were winning like we were in the fall we probably would not be having this discussion. We hab fans always seem to get down on our team at the worst times.
February 6th, 2007 at 10:03 pm
There’s something really Deja Vue about this game ,oh yeah it’s Cam Ward, lil’*******!!
February 6th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
To beat a hot goalie ,U need fire power , ours is Pleks, Souray, Nemo,Downey and Murray. Look ,if U want to win with Defence, U need ****’n snipers, real ones.
February 6th, 2007 at 11:17 pm
well we lost, AGAIN! I’m really getting tired of losing . It’s getting old.
6 games in a row we have given up the first goal of the game. Not a good sign.
Koivu said they play better when they’re behind. Well they’re getting good pracice at that. It seems every game they find a way to lose. You know what they say: Good teams find a way to win, and lousy teams find a way to lose.
It looks like they’re playing without any confidence, and they can’t score on the PP anymore. So to sum it up, I’m disgusted! the opposition loves to play habs, because they know how soft our team is, and an easy win for them.
Remember in the 70’s how intimidating habs were, well just the opposite now. That’s why leafs lick their chops when they know they’re playing us. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. shameful, we can’t score more than 1 goal.
BTW, Pitt, with their win tonight, only 1 point behind us, with 2 games in hand. And now we have back to back games vs Ottawa. Doesn’t look good.
February 6th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
Gillette,it’s a toss-up who’s going to get you first :a)A hoolagan from England or :b)A Habs Fan
February 6th, 2007 at 11:31 pm
Xhabsfan:
Snipers? Your team just put one of your best hopes of a sniper on waivers today! All because in November, he wouldn’t roll over and accept his demotion to Latendresse because Montreal fans were looking really stupid all over North America chanting “GUI-GUI-GUI” before le garcon d’or had posted a single point in the NHL (Two months into the season, I might add!) Really Xhabsfan, you should check with management before posting your rants.
Well, my new team (the Penguins) beat the best team in hockey (Nashville) easily tonight by a score of 4-1. Of course, we all know that whinny, cry baby, anglo Crosby (who goes down when you spear him in the gut or high stick him in the face) doesn’t have the maturity to play for the Blue, Blanc et Rouge of les Glorieux. How did you guys make out against Carolina (8th place in the Eastern Conference) at home tonight, by the way?
Since you guys don’t seem to want talented, “broken down” players in Montreal, I just hope that you won’t mind if the Pens steal him off waivers because I really think that there is still a lot of talent left in Samsanov’s tank. Maybe Aaron Downey can give us all a lecture (not just Sidney Crosby) a lesson on how to play hockey properly since he is that much closer to being the most talented player on the Montreal roster.

It’s heart breaking watching them lose, they lack consistency…I know Samsonov is playing bad but I rather have him on ice than Downey. I really can’t wait for Steve Begin to get back on the ice…

Joshtm: I have always paid attention to myor posts. I have to admit you havea point. Bob Gainey is a little conservative. But, you have to admit you’ re a little too picky. Every night, after we win, I sit down on my chair and start reading the posts, and the funniest part is that I am always looking for your posts. I just want you to appreciate the team instead of criticizing it. I know that the Hab fans are not at all loyal(no wonder why Shanahan and Elias denied playing for Habs although they were willing to pay them way more than they get paid right now)
One other thing I wanted to mention Joshtm, this year Habs actually gave the chance to two youngsters to play permanently for the big club not to forget, we gave chances to Kostistyn and Grabvoski.
Sincerely,
Jack

Wow.
Robert Miller I did not expect you of all people to be so fairweather.
Penguins fan all of a sudden?
Must be hard to love the penguins when they turn it on, I don’t recall you a penguin fan when they were bottom feeding.

Another thing, if you are such a Samsonov fan perhaps you should learn the proper spelling of your favorite players name.

They should trade samasonov for Martin Havlat
February 7th, 2007 at 12:21 am
waive sammy? oh yah that was the right thing to do ..not? he was one of our best snipers but hard to produce when you got zero pp or pk time all season..everyone knows the top players in the league including kovy get half their points on the pp…if kovy didn’t get every pp shift than he would have less points than samsonov…why is he always the scapegoat…waive koivu kovalev ryder and higgins…and huet…you are an allstar..you should be starting 90% of the games win or lose..you got us here and when we lost it wasn’t your fault…see how #2 abby likes losing everygame cause we only score one goal…PAck your bags huet and leave with sammy..you both deserve better than the treatment and lack of respect you got this year

Habs blog:
I have actually been a Habs fan my entire life.
However, if you look back at some of my previous posts of the last few months, you will see that I mention that the Habs future hopes of another cup in the next decade are probably dependent on signing Sidney Crosby as a free agent in 2012. He made no secrets of the fact that he wanted (emphasize: wanted — past tense ) to play in Montreal. Most of you obviously seem to know nothing about how much Sidney Crosby wanted to play for the Habs (or maybe, you don’t really care.)
However, after the Montreal fans booed him every time he touched the puck last Sunday, and chanted, “faker, faker” at him, why should he even consider going near that place in his career? He can play wherever he wants to. Seriously, if you really think that Montreal is currently such a great place to play, recall that Samsonov was Plan E after Elias, Arnott, Sykora, and Shanahan all refused to sign. This particular free agency signing has ended badly so do you really think that free agents are going to be lining up next summer to sign with Montreal?
You should all try to remember that Canadiens fans live all across North America these days, and if Habs’ fans are seen behaving in a manner that is highly offensive to an entire region of the country, you should expect to lose some of your fans in that region. Congratulations, some of you made a 19 year old kid from Nova Scotia look bad on national television last Sunday. You won a battle, but you lost a war!
End of rant. That’s it — I’m done!

It’s all the LeJournal’s fault, yup Rob, they were down there in the Canes net, stopping those hot shots by Pleks, and most of all did you catch those Quebec Tax collectors knock Abby down so the Canes could score? Wasn’t that a Liverpool hooligan that headbutted Carbo at the last minute? Oh ya, the Habs Hooligans did the habs in again…..as if.
Souray looked drunk coming into the third period, he did not finish a single pass, giving the puck away almost each time….and that was a mistake putting Dandy and Ninny on the last minute of play, talk about spoiling a good last shot. And Boully there did us in too. At least Rivet finally protected Abby. But not before Ninny slashed Abby, suprised the ref didn’t give Ninny a penalty for slashing his own goalie!
Johnson looked like a rag doll again, as if having Ninny and Dandy knocked over, man we’ll have to call the Habs the Rag Doll team….make them all wear red wigs and paint freckles on their faces….the only solid player was Rivet for once hitting like he meant it, and Pleks tried but hey Pleks deserves a red wig for being a good rag doll too. Honestly, the habs have no substance as far as solid defensive or offensive punch. Unlike when Souray got ejected a few games ago. We almost need to call up Grabby and Kosty if only to give the other teams solid body checks….
Finally, there they were RDS, Le Journal and the Gazette all ganging up the habs bench preventing them from going on the ice, it was shocking the media did the habs in again, not to mention the hab hooligan fans, oh don’t forget the quebec tax man, honestly it was a horrible conspiracy, just ask Samsonov….

Rob,did you know that if you nailed your wife as much as you’ve been nailing Hab Fans lately, you would have your own country,.geeesee man.

The points keep dropping and Leafs are flying.
It can’t get any worse. We’ll have to face reality soon.
We just can’t seem to score 5 on 5.
Looks as if Higgy might have found his groove.
Please scratch Ryder, he’s done and this teams done.

C’mon Rob…..
You can’t actually think that a childhood fantasy of playing for the Canadiens has ANY impact whatsoever on the decision a 24 yr old man with 5 years NHL experience is going to make. Probably 5 scoring championships……
You think he finishes every game , leading the league in scoring and goes home and dreams of the Canadiens logo at night? Get real.
I know you’re from Nova Scotia, maybe even his home town, but c’mon.
Crosby is not a Timbit anymore, he’s the league’s best scorer and I’m sure ‘2012′ and Montreal is the last possible thought in his mind.
As far as alienating potential free agents, you’re dead on. It’s been happening here forever, and until the next french sensation comes on we’ll probably always struggle with that.

Koivu was the worst player on the ice for either team tonight and it kills me to say that. Weak in the defensive zone, invisible in teh offensive and takes the lazy penalty that leads to the GWG. Pleks has been our best center no doubt about it. Even Rivet stepped up and helped SOuray with the leadership role on the ice. NOw only if teh CAPTAIN would help out.
TOugh loss, NOt a bad game but need to take more liberties on WIlliams next time. ITs an insult that he scored.
