Your ideal Sheldon Souray Trade
-
Six days remain to see whether or not Sheldon Souray will be traded.
So put yourselves in Bob Gainey’s shoes and make the deal.
Does Souray go alone and who do you go after in return?
The team with most heavy interest is rumored to be the Sharks who have just coincidentally recalled Steve Bernier.
Is it a Souray for Bernier swap? More players or picks involved? Or is Souray going somewhere altogether different?

Sign Souray to a long term contract based on performance package or fire the fool that let him get away!!!!
February 21st, 2007 at 2:18 pm
Re-sign Sheldon Souray and let him finish out his career where it started (New Jersey doesn’t count ‘cuz the Habs molded this guy into what he is and stuck with him thru the awful injuries early in his Habdom)… Let him go down in Habstory with all the other great defencemen Doug Harvey, Serge Savard, Larry Robinson, Guy Lapointe, Chris Chelios. I still wish Rod Langway was never traded. Someday number 44 will hang from the rafters…
Or trade him to Tampa Bay with others for Vincent Lecavalier, whatever, I wish I could control the destiny of the team but I’m just a stupid beer league goalie, eh.
In BOB We Trust… If not then You’re A Leaf Fan.

What are the guarantee s that Bernier or Pavelski turn into good let alone great players. WE all thought Zubrus was going to be a superstar. AND then you have total underachievers like Sebastien Bourdeleau, Terry Ryan, Eric CHinourd and Brent Bilodeau. ALl supposed to be good NHL players. Seems pretty risky to trade your leader and most respected player. I rather keep him and lose him to free agency then be the one who gave him away.

ANd what is this about Brodeur’s comments about SOuray leaving. WHat a fat bi3ch Brodeur is. Why does he hate us sooo much. HE beats us every time you think he would be gentle on us.
February 21st, 2007 at 2:59 pm
*I just posted this on the last page but I wanna make sure Joshtm reads this lol*
HAHA Duuuude… Just because I proved to ya that both Washington goals were scored while the kid line was on the ice doesn’t mean I want us to trade em! Look for one place where I speak about Bob, the kid line, and trading in the same comment. Find any? No. That’s what I thought. So Josh, stop inventing BS to defend urself cuz ur starting to get people on ur backs. If it wasn’t for the fact that we both love and cheer the same team and loath the Leafs, I wouldn’t be so polite.
I’m only 18 and maybe you’ve been around to see more hockey then me, but I just stated facts and you can’t deny those. So don’t start blaming the Koivu line, nor me for wanting to trade youngsters, without EVIDENCE!!!
February 21st, 2007 at 3:23 pm
I dont think even Josh knows what point he is making. All I got from his posts so far is that he has this HATE for Gainey,(probably something personal) and that he thinks I am some computer wiz for typing his name in a box.
February 21st, 2007 at 3:24 pm
Look I just did it again. I am hacking.
February 21st, 2007 at 3:26 pm
#4 Higgy21 - What comments by Brodeur are you referring too?
As posted in a previous blog, I saw him in an Interview on Sunday (Some SNY 365 BS show)saying if he is would have the choice to play anywhere it would be in Montreal… He went on to say it is like a mecca for hockey!
February 21st, 2007 at 3:26 pm
I would nothing more than to see Souray in a Habs uni for a long time, but the cold hard facts are that Souray wants to go out west. He has a young Daughter out there that he would like to be closer with. Earlier this year he hinted that he would not re-sign when he told the Gazette that the Habs brass should concentrate on Markov and Rivet who are also unrestricted free agents. I think he leaves Montreal and heads for San Jose before the trade dead line and we get a package of Steve Bernier, another player or early round draft pick.
February 21st, 2007 at 3:40 pm
To San Jose: Souray and Kovalev/Sammy
To Montreal: Matt Carle, Steve Bernier or Joe Pavelski and a 1rst round pick.
February 21st, 2007 at 4:10 pm
did higgy go on the injured list? or is it a rumor?
I watched the game last night and didnt see anything to take him out for the season
February 21st, 2007 at 4:18 pm
RDS - The Gazette are reporting the injury is not as bad as first thought and he will be accompaning the team in Nashville. Not sure they’re saying if he’ll play?
February 21st, 2007 at 4:37 pm
You guys realize that Hockey is the only major sport to have no known homosexuals?
That’s all. Just thought it was a cool thing. Goes to show everyone what real men play.
February 21st, 2007 at 4:39 pm
ummmmmmmmmm Glen anderson? And who are we kidding we all know darcy tucker is lol
February 21st, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Brodeur was spreading rumours that SOuray would not resign with Mtl in the offseason if he was not dealt. Cant help bu tthink he was hoping SOuray would be dealt to the west to avoid facing his deadly cannon. Sure Broduer says he would love to play in MTL but if he was given the oppourtunity he would stay in NJ.
February 21st, 2007 at 4:46 pm
Mike Danton was also a homo i believe if you listen to the phone call he had with david frost
February 21st, 2007 at 4:48 pm
Ah damnit he is ***? Fuking leafs players destoying the whole integrity of our sport…
February 21st, 2007 at 4:54 pm
Nah Mike wasn’t homo, it was Frost that had a sorta control over the guy. It’s called a Svengali-type of control. Look it up on Wikipedia if ya want… pretty interesting
February 21st, 2007 at 4:56 pm
You have to admit though that phone conversation was really weird it makes you kind of think when to grown men are saying they love each other
February 21st, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Yeah I agree. Just shows how much control the guy had on him… you wouldn’t catch me saying that to anybody other then my family and my g-f lol
February 21st, 2007 at 5:03 pm
I dont even tell my wife i love her lol
February 21st, 2007 at 5:17 pm
lol that’s harsh man XD
February 21st, 2007 at 5:23 pm
We should do whatever we can to keep Souray. We need a respected team leader like him and he is one of the few players on the team that shows heart in every game. He WANTS to win and if he lose him, we will lose on of our best players. When was the last time a Montreal Defenceman scored 20 goals in a season? Back when Larry Robinson or Serge Savard were on the team. See what I mean: WE NEED SOURAY!! We can trade some other pieces of garbage like Samsonov, Rivet, and Murray but we need to keep Souray. I was also hearing that Gainey is now in the market for a backup goalie since Huet will be gone for the rest of the season. Mathieu Garon’s name has come up a few times. He would be a good addition although I think Montreal got the better end of the trade with the Kings for Huet.

February 21st, 2007 at 5:27 pm
I think it was schneider or desjardins scored 20 back in 93-94
February 21st, 2007 at 5:27 pm
Yeah I wouldn’t want to be in Gainey’s shoes at the moment… Too hard to decide whether to keep or try to get sumthin good for Souray
February 21st, 2007 at 5:39 pm
Let’s cut the bulls#$t. Let’s focus on the team as a whole. Koivu, Samonov and Kovalev must go. Better yet anyone with the letter V in their last name must GO. Put them on the next boat out or trade them for a bag of pucks or some water bottles. Halak should get the start for the remainder of the year, Aebischer can be the back up or trade hime to….we’ve got Danis as a back-up. This is a list of players who’s services are no longer required.
Koivu
Kovalev
Samsonov
Rivet
Gentlemen your service to the team has been greatly appreciated but it’s time to GO. Bring in some young blood with heart and a desire to play. Give Higgins, Ryder, Plekanec and Latendresse the opportunity to shine.
I’ve been a die-hard HABS fan my entire life, but it saddens me to see this team struggle. I used to blame management, but I think The Habs have the best management that is currently in the NHL. It comes down to the players.
I’m out.
February 21st, 2007 at 5:39 pm
If you wanna know how laid back Bob Gainey is ,look at the blog#16to#22,lol There were rumors that Wendy Clark has limp wrist syndrome? Any russians sent packing yet?? trades???
February 21st, 2007 at 5:47 pm
BROKE BACK LEAFS…LOL

lAFF’S FAN BLOG TO TEAM ;”I JUST CAN’T QUIT YOU”lol
February 21st, 2007 at 6:20 pm
The 93 Leafs team was probably the gayest team ever. No wonder they had such a tight locker room. Clark, Zezel, Anderson, Ellett and possibly Gilmour and Bob ROuse.
February 21st, 2007 at 6:21 pm
ALthough I think Gilmour has grown out of that phase.
February 21st, 2007 at 6:23 pm
Rumours from RDS have the habs still interested in Smolinski. IT also states they want to see if Halak is good enough to stay or they might make a run for BIRON. hmmm dont think so.
February 21st, 2007 at 6:29 pm
Souray will not be traded……….unless Bob gets an offer that he can’t refuse.
February 21st, 2007 at 6:45 pm
How can you trade a 60 point defenseman show him the money.
February 21st, 2007 at 6:48 pm
Nahville, NYI, and Toronto. Those are the three teams the Habs play before the deadline. Depending on how the Habs do in these next three games will decide on what the Habs do.
If they do well, even though I think they should sell cause they won’t win the cup this year, Souray won’t be going anywhere.
If the Habs lose all three or even 2 out of three and San Jose comes up with one of those rumored monster offers(Matt Carle, Steve Bernier/Joe Pavelski and a draft pick) then Gainey has to much faith.
February 21st, 2007 at 7:25 pm
….. I seem to recall Stephane Richer and Roch Voisine (Sp?) had a thing… I’m sure than there have been more *** habs in the past… but yes the Wendel Clark years in Toronto were… heh heh quite ***….
As for a good trade for Souray…. I hate to see him go but my dream would be to see this…
Souray, and Kovalev, and a 1st rounder to the sharks for Patrick Marleau, and a good physically imposing d-man like Kyle McLaren. This of course will never happen… but he topic is what is my ideal Souray trade….
February 21st, 2007 at 7:29 pm
Yeah well it was good to talk about other things then trade rumours and how “bad” the team and management is so I was glad we had a change of air by talking about *** ppl and, *** teams. Did I say teamS? damn I meant “the” *** team. WATCH OUT FOR THE LAFFS… NO HOLES ARE SAFE!!
February 21st, 2007 at 7:39 pm
I left out that the trade I mentioned above would only happen if Souray signed a long term contract to be with SJ.
February 21st, 2007 at 7:49 pm
all this *** bashing stuff is embarassing
go habs go
February 21st, 2007 at 7:51 pm
twenty years ago this converstation could have been about how there’s no black guys in hockey
see the connection? anyone?
ps
i know its light hearted but its time we turned the corner on this ****
February 21st, 2007 at 8:06 pm
Turning the corner’s no problem Goober, its when your shoelace’s need tying.Look I myself have no problems with knock down gorgeous lesbians, especially if I can have my way with them .lol
February 21st, 2007 at 8:42 pm
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Souray stick around and Rivet actually get traded.
However, if a Montreal-San Jose Trade is in the mix, I’d say something like a 1st Round pick/Steve Bernier would be good.
February 21st, 2007 at 8:52 pm
The 1st rounder is not that big of a deal considering SJ will finaish in the top 5 in the league. I would want two of the following prospects (Bernier, Pavelski, Carle) Leave out the draft pick. Pevelski C and Carle D would fit our needs.
February 21st, 2007 at 10:01 pm
Forget a deal with SJ. Apparently, Gainey has a press conference set for tomorrow before the game, and he’s been negotiating with his buddy Risebrough and the WILD. There is also speculation that he will announce an extension contract to RIVET. I hope dear God that isn’t true. Just the thought makes me want to vomit. Isn’t there a player Pouliot, there? I think a trade with the wild is pending. This comes from Spector, and someone named Villeneuve.
So, wait till tomorrow, because there is definite news coming.
February 21st, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Don’t be surprised if Saku’s going to be with his bro in Minnesota.
February 21st, 2007 at 10:52 pm
I think Bob will anounce the signing of Markov to a 3 yr. deal tomorrow in Nashville. It better not be Rivet.
My big trade is
To Forida Souray, Abby now that Huet is hurt Ryder, Perezhogin and a 4th round draft choice
To Montreal BOUWMEESTER Olli Jokinen Belfour
1st line Olli + Kovlev + Latendresse
2sec line Koivu +Higgins+Samy
3rd line Bonk +Johnson + Begin Plekanec
4th line Lapierre + Milroy + Kostitsyn
Belfour can be the back up for this year. Bouwmeester is a very good defence and we get our 1st line centre. Is this a good deal or not.
February 21st, 2007 at 10:54 pm
Keep Souray!!! He’s great and the team need him!
February 21st, 2007 at 10:57 pm
If Saku really wanted to go to Minny really badly he would’ve left as a UFA last summer. He signed a long term deal with a no-trade clause cause he dosen’t want to go anywhere.
Forget Saku going anywhere. Your ‘Dreams’ aren’t going to happen. Look what happens when Saku get’s injured(last year’s playoff collapse) or when he goes into a slump(the past month and a half). Over the past two wins Saku has a goal and 4 assists, 3 last night. Coincidence? Don’t think so.
This team will absolutly suck without Saku. Forget that noise.
Benoit Pouliot was taken one spot ahead of Carey Price in the 2005 draft, his stats this season in the AHL are 44gp, 17g and 12assists with 79PIM. I think the French media mad this Benoit Pouliot rumor to Montreal up cause his name is French Canadian just like the Patrick Marleau rumors. However Rivet to Minny for Pierre-Marc Bouchard might be plausible.
And please let it be that Gainey hasn’t signed Rivet to a long term deal. Unless Rivet took a massive pay cut.
San Jose, even though they beat Washington tonight, are in desperate need for someone like Souray. With each passing day they are getting more desperate and they’re offer keeps going up. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was what Bob is waiting for.
Saku’s a Hab for life. Is he a bit overpaid, ya probably, but the results without a healthy or productive Saku speak for themselves, he’s not going anywhere. Deal with it.
Now Kovalev, there’s a player who should go.
February 21st, 2007 at 10:58 pm
Saku has been great in the past, but I just don’t think he has it anymore,
even though he is well loved in Hab town, I think the time has come.
Keep Sheldon and bulld the team around him, like someone said above 44
will hang from the rafters
February 21st, 2007 at 11:16 pm
Keep Souray…I would try to sign him. Even with his mistakes, at least he scores. He opens the ice down low. He’s a big reason that the power play is doing well.
February 21st, 2007 at 11:23 pm
Bob should know by now if he can sign Souray. If not you have to trade him. Put him in a deal with Samy to SJ for Bemier + Pavelski + Carle. I would’t take a chance on signing him in the off season. You have to get something while you can. I don’t think he is worth 5 or 6 million a year.
February 21st, 2007 at 11:33 pm
You guys don’t think Gainey has been trying to sign Souray? Ha! The Habs won’t have the cap run first off.
A good friend of Souray’s and keeps in touch with him every week told me that Souray wants fiar market value and won’t take a discount to stay. We’re talking a Bryan McCabe 6.75-7.25 million dollar deal. The Habs will be like Tampa, except the Habs big money players(Kovalev, Sammy) don’t nearly prduce as much as St.Louis and Vinny. As much as I support Gainey it’s glaringly obvious that Kovalev’s and Sammy’s contracts are albatrouses that will prevent Souray from coming back.
Secondly, he wants to go to California to be with his daughter. He’s going throught the motions saying he wants to be in Montreal.
If the Habs want to keep Souray they’ll have to give him a king’s ransom(over 7 million). He’s not in the same league as Niedermayer, Pronger, Phaneuf, or Lidstrom. Sure his points are great, but he’s a liablilty in his own end.
I hope that Gainey will not make the same mistake as JFJ and give out way to much money to Souray and have jack all to improve the teams anemic offence.
Koivu stays, you can dream but it won’t happen and if he is traded I will be pissed, no one can convince me that he’s not an improtant part of this team. All of you want him to be as great as other Canadians captains in the past but he’s not them, he’s Saku Koivu. He’s not The Rocket. He’s Saku Koivu. Stop comparing him to other great’s from the past.
He’s not going anywhere.
And Souray’s # hanging from the rafters? That’s a good one. If Larry Robinson and Lapointe don’t have there numbers up there then Souray doesn’t stand a chance.(Lapointe 28 goals in a season, Souray has 20)
It’s been one season. This is this problem with fans of this team. We’re so used to great players that when a player has a great season we start writing they’re Hall of Fame resume’s. Sheldon Souray is not Larry Robinson.
Trade him now for a hell of a lot cause he’s not coming back unless Gainey can free up cap room by finding some suckers to take Kovy and Sammy off his hands.
Saku ain’t goin anywhere. Don’t even suggest it, it’s dumb.

Posted on February 21st, 2007 at 3:40 pm. About ‘Your ideal Sheldon Souray Trade’.
To San Jose: Souray and Kovalev/Sammy
To Montreal: Matt Carle, Steve Bernier or Joe Pavelski and a 1rst round pick.
this one looks ideal but i highly doubt san jose would go for that.IMO
I like Souray and all ,but when he’s getting paid 5 million plus per year, not so much. we have way too many people in the overpaid/underperforming category.
Souray will decide what kinda of money he’ll accept and where he plays if he becomes UFA.
I would imagine Gainey has an idea as to if souray and/or markov are interested in re-signing. unfortunately our club policy is to not renegotiate contracts during the season. So it’s unlikely Gainey knows what they are asking for in terms or dollars and length of contract, unless this policy has changed.
If BG knows Souray has no interest in re-signing with us, he shouldn’t hesitate
to deal him, there is no way you can let a player you’ve spent years developing
walk away as a UfA without getting anything in return.
Same goes for Markov, all though i would be willing to sign him to a long-term deal.
If they can some how deal Samsanov,Kovalev and/or Rivet this year that would be a bonus. it would free up some cap space to spend more wisely.

How can you trade a 60 point defenseman show him the money.
easy his value is at an all time high, buy low ,sell high.
the Bulk of his points come on the PP I wonder how many?
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:36 am
” Let him go down in Habstory with all the other great defencemen Doug Harvey, Serge Savard, Larry Robinson, Guy Lapointe, Chris Chelios. I still wish Rod Langway was never traded. Someday number 44 will hang from the rafters…”
If those guys were dead they’d be rolling in their graves at being mentioned in the same breath as that soon to be overpaid pylon. Wow. Smiler must have the best sense of humour on this website. or he’s delusional. Being a Habs fan it’s really a toss-up.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:41 am
hABS#1, Rite now as you type, there’s a changing of the guard in the N.H.L. to a youth movement ie:PENS AND PREDS. There’s another team going in that direction ,our Habs and in order for that to happen ,the underachieving , way overpaid ,habsbeens are on there way out, wether they like it or the fans like it or you like it. Reality dictates that if you look at the value and production you get from: Kovalev, Samsonov,Bonk,Niinimaa,Abby,Koivu,Rivet, Huet Dandy and Boullion it has been a joke and a bad one at that. And because of their lack of every thing a Pro Hockey player must have, they won themselves a bus ticket out of town. You didn’t hear the Milroy interview last nite did you? I highly advise you to see it before you type further.
February 22nd, 2007 at 2:18 am
koivu and sourray - for - hannan and cheechoo
problably not, but it’s sure fun to think about. how would that work out???
February 22nd, 2007 at 2:35 am
It is sad that we waste almost twenty million on ****, granted the Koivu line shone for what one game? Where the hell have they been since Christmas? If you look at what we waste on Koivu, Kovalev, Ninnima, Johnson, Rivet, Bouillon, Dandenault, almost twenty million on seven players who have single handedly been responsible for the slump as the core of the team. Obviously no teams are interested in signing these largely overpaid, underachievers and some of them are ready for the pasture. I say instead of throwing money away on Koivu sell him shares in the team like Mario, let Kovalev’s contract run out, the same with Ninnima, Rivet, force Dandy and Boully to prove themselves worthy of the millionaire club. We will be under great pressure to keep the likes of Pleks and Bonk and the rookies will edge up their demands as they contribute.
The danger of trading Souray away is that we need to get someone back of similar worth, that means signing yet another millionaire underachiever.
No, I would say promise Souray whatever we can to keep him, absorb the loss of the season to do it if we have to. Obviously we can’t make any trades and we are stuck with a bunch of tired old millionaires who enjoy big fat paychecks so what do they care if the team wins or loses, they get their money.
As for the youth movement, unfortnately this is Bob Gainey’s UNICEF for NHL veterans, the Habs Hospital for injured veterans. The youth are only there to make it exciting every now and then. Until we get rid of MASH 4007’s General Gainey and Corporal Carbo, it’s the same old same old.
By the way, the Koivu line is only good when the rookies are hard hitting and grinding the other team down. I don’t know how long Koivu will have his legs, he may be the heart of the team when he wants to be, but he is showing his age. He is basically the wrong guy to have as captain. Honestly, a captain is supposed to lead. How many captains do you see that get the kind of **** kicking Koivu gets from even the most wimpiest NHL teams?
If we are forced to trade Souray I say trade him for a healthy Center, a strong center, we are weak in our face offs. I know Toronto when ever they play against Montreal wish for someone like Souray. I would not be suprised if we had a suprise trade of Souray for Guerin…that would be a shocker….it would fit Gainey’s classic, HABS HOSPITAL for INJURED VETERANS…
February 22nd, 2007 at 3:49 am
Come on…your not going to get a player as good as Souray from any one…pay the man…keep the rookies…..invest in some more, build a system again…get Price up there as soon you can, stack him up behind Sheldon, and let them play hockey Canadien style. FIREWAGON with a FIST(remember) Dig up another John Ferguson Sr. type. Clone some Risebrough’s,Gainey’s, Richard’s,let’s quit waiting for the ghosts to return. Go out and get them. Bulk up, Hit eveything that moves, let everyone regret that they have to play you….quit buying into Mediocore Pretty Boy (NewNhl)Hockey League. As for trades ask someone for a bag of pucks for Samsonov, take the bag if you can get it….try and get something for Kovalev before people realize that he really is a puck hogging figure skater. Fr god sake quit drafting European style shinny players….sont la canadien.
February 22nd, 2007 at 6:32 am
I just read as many comments as possible… I happen to agree with the majority in KEEPING SOURAY! We lose him now, we have little chance at making the playoffs, and no chance at making it past the first round(vs Sabres/Devils).
Although, we do need to make an impact down the stretch. And again the majority is correct in trading Rivet, Kovy, Sammy, and maybe Perez.
My IDEAL trade deadline trades: Kovalev & Rivet for Bernier & Carle(SJ)
Samsonov & Perezhogin for Mikko Koivu & a draft pick
February 22nd, 2007 at 6:38 am
Think about how sick the lines would be:
Koivu,Koivu,Ryder Souray/Markov
Higgy,Plekanec,Bernier Carle/Komisarek
Johnson,Bonk,Latendresse Bouillon/Streit
Milroy,Lapierre,Downey/Murray Halak/Abby/Huet
Better looking playoff team!
Niinimaa & Dandenault are garbage… enough said.
February 22nd, 2007 at 8:46 am
Just heard that Gainey is going to announce today in Nashvile that he has made a trade with Nashville—- Souray for Forsberg.
February 22nd, 2007 at 9:58 am
Good comments ladies and gents, but stop and THINK for a minute:
1. Losing Souray for nothing in July is not an option. No GM would let that happen, period.
2. Gainey’s basic decision, on Tuesday morning, based on results of next 3 game: Do we go for playoffs or no?
3. If yes to above, keep Souray or make sure we get a player for him that can contribute now, not just prospects/picks.
4. If no to item 2, trade Souray for the best picks and prospects possible, no question.
I assume Gainey has talked to Rivet, and also Markov, to see where approximately his salaries for these guys would be next year. He then should have gone to Souray and tried to make an agreement on his salary next year also.
If he cannot get a clear commitment from those 3, HE MUST TRADE SOURAY. It’s simple logic. He can’t take the risk of another club offering a stupid un-matchable amount for Souray or Markov in July.
Since we have no news of any agreements bedtween Habs and any of their UFA D men, we can assume Gainey does not have these commitments, and therefore Souray is gone as of Tuesaday.
The only other possibility is that Gainey HAS made agreements with his UFA D men, and is not announcing it, so he can still test the Souray trade market anyway, which is what I would do.
Finally, if he must trade Souray, go for good young prospects and picks that can help us win it in 2009, not vets who will fade.
Cheers
Voltaire
February 22nd, 2007 at 10:46 am
Wow, that whole *** thing back there! Where the hell did that come from?
I agree with Habs #1 on just about everything that he says except that Patrick Marleau is actually from Saskatchewan, I think. This year, Souray is clearly the best offensive defenseman that the Habs have, but even that is not saying much really. There is no way that Souray should command the kind of money that Pronger and Neidermeyer are making. He is not that strong defensively, and one could argue that this is really the only decent full season that Souray has ever had. I would vote for the youth movement, and in giving Souray what he wants (ie. being on the West Coast.) If Gainey can package him with Samsanov and get either two quality propects or two first round picks before the trade deadline, this will help in building a true contender down the road.
February 22nd, 2007 at 10:49 am
By the way, I think that any other potentially contending GMs are going to want Souray only if there is going to be any trade deadline deals out of Montreal. Offering Rivet instead is just not going to cut it for anyone. I could be wrong here.
February 22nd, 2007 at 11:17 am
While I am on another rant, where the hell does Jack Todd get off calling Ovechkin the “most electrifying player in the game” in his column in The Gazette yesterday? Considering he is a player who can only score, he is actually #10 in league scoring (25 points behind Crosby) and is the only player in the top forty in scoring that is a double digit negative in the +/- department at -14. Ovechkin’s team as opposed to the Crosby’s team is again going nowhere this year! Crosby, Lecavalier, St. Louis, Thornton, Briere, Iginla and Heatley are all a hell of lot better players than Ovechkin.
I guess Whacky Jack must like the Russian style players who do cute puck tricks, engage in no defensive play and bring out no team spirit. Jack, if you voted for Ovechkin for rookie of the year, time is going to show you how far off the mark you were yet again.

*** hockey players????
My cousin from Calgary told me Glenn Anderson is ***, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Also, there were rumours that Joe Mullen is ***, not that there’s anything wrong with that. We all heard the Wendel Clark rumours and what about rumours that Stephane Richer is *** as well as Brian Skrudland. Put two and two together in the Mike Danton case and well, again, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Also, what about that sicko Graham James sexually assaulting some of his players including Sheldon Kennedy and possibly even Theo Fleury.
Have any of you ever heard Kyle Wellwood of the Leafs speak??? Again, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

RDS reporting: Andrei Kostitsyn of Bulldogs of Hamilton of the American League of hockey. It will join the Canadians this morning in Nashville.

UFA for UFA dept.
How about Souray to Colorado for Joe Sakic? Then July 1st comes around and they both re-sign with the Habs! And maybe Gainey can make the Avalanche eat most of the contract and get Theodore back as a backup for Halak/Huet. We could give Aebischer back to Colorado cuz he just ain’t got it here.

I do not think that CBA rules allow for the Salary sharing deal, but I am not that familar… I was interested in Sakic Also when that rumor was floating. Great gritty forward with an couple of good years in him.

I speculating that Higgins is not in the line-up with the Kostitsyn call up or they may have demoted Milroy? I hope they did not demote him. I think he was one of the guys that showed interest in front of the Net! Put him on a line with a good set up man or shooter and we will get some points out of him. Maybe Perez or Sammy got traded in the Bob gainey press conference tonight…
ANyone have any projections for tonight line-up? I hate to divert your conversations from the homosexuals of the league… they took over TV, now the blog; do they need their time too or we might come after us for ineqaulity?!??!
Maybe you guys could go back to it after the Playoffs?
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:14 pm
Rumors have it that in the Gainey conference he will be announcing an extended leave of absence starting this summer and I can’t wait for all the special Hab bloggers to blame the fans, tax’s or what ever for that one if it’s true !!
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:15 pm
Kerry Fraser - not a homosexual but ***.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:18 pm
Okay seriously…
Mike Brophy of The Hockey News is on The TEAM990 talking about Joe Sakic and why no one has even mentioned him in Deadline Deal rumours.
I am a visionary here, I mentioned him just before this. Sakic to Montreal, let’s get the rumour mill on that baby churning! Who would you give up for Joe Sakic??? Higgins? Komisarek??? Prosepcts, high picks??? The Avs need goaltending so Halak or Price???
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:20 pm
Anyone know if Bob’s press conference will be on RDS today? Also, what time will it start?
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:22 pm
Hate to bring this up again BUT- Joe Sakic should have been traded here in ‘95 when the Hab morons were shipping Patrick Roy out at the top of his game… duh. Kovalenko, Rucinsky and Thibault for ROY AND KEANE???? HOLY!!! Montreal should’ve been getting Sakic or Forsberg for Roy at that point. F*@*#$ REJEAN!
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:23 pm
Coincidence? Or voodoo? The Habs are playing in the “Gaylord” Center tonight.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:27 pm
Who would I give up for Joe Sakic??? I would give up Pleks, Perez and Abby! Bring back Patrick Roy as a player coach to back up Halak! LOL I would say trade Denis but I heard he’s on the IR…
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Plekanec, Perezhogin and Aebischer for Sakic, I wish! They’d probably want Higgins, Komisarek and Price though, greedy ********, I think they’re pissed Gainey fleeced them by giving them Theodud and his $5.5 million.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:47 pm
We all do respect to joe Sakic, he’s a hreat player but he is in the twilight of his career, can we actually get one of these types of players who aren’t on the cusp of retiring.
BTW rejean houle should have been fired immediately after the patrick trade.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:56 pm
I like Higgins too much and I would say he’s one of the untouchables because of his age and potential. We’ll have to grind him in the ground for a few more years… LOL I think the same goes for Komi. A Price trade would cause riots in Montreal and Gainey would have to relocate! He already has deemed the future of the Org by most of the fans…
