Does not look good for the Habs when they have a hard time beating St. Louis who are using replacement players. Their defense is pathetic and their forwards don’t score on regular basis. There is definitely a lack of effort from most of the veterans. Souray is a good scorer but is poor on defense; he has a problem adapting to the new rules. I’ve been a Habs fan for 50 years at least but I have never seen such a disorganized team. We should quit blaming the goalies; they are often left on their own or screened by their own players and you can’t win games if you don’t score.The stupid penalties are killing the Habs; you can only score so many shorthanded goals and their power play lost its effectiveness. I think they are doomed; even Boston is catching up.

Bulldogs are playing Toronto rite now , Hamalton got some huge Dmen plus Chipchura looking good.Theres a lot of good looking prospects on Hamilton ,send em up ,get them used to the big league.

What would happen if a GM would fire a player? IF a player doesn’t even come close to meeting expectations, could they say, “Sorry, you’re fired, we’re cutting our pay.”?

The habs have to win 8/12 of their remaining games if they want to make the playoffs…7/12 games are against teams that are fighting for the playoff spot like Carolina, Boston, Toronto, and New York..The habs have to start winning games!!!.

I really don’t want to miss that playoff atmosphere.

Come to think of it, there is no way Montreal could get in even if they won all their remaining games, the spread is too big to overcome, we would almost have to hope that the Rangers and the Islanders and the Leafs would lose most of their games, including Atlanta. Since when has four teams ever gone on a consistent losing streak this close to the end of the season? Never.

Now is the time for fans to demand that GM Bob Gainey and the coach be fired and that we buy out Kovalev’s and Koivu’s contracts!

Look at the schedule, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, the Rangers…more than once for the Rangers and of course the Laffs! Montreal has not had a good time with any of the remaining games. A loss to either the Rangers or the Laffs would further eliminate any of the games we win, so mathematically if you take the stats, and maybe since Montreal has gone into overtime so much, even accounting for getting one point and winning…the odds don’t look very promising.

Unless of course, Gainey benches this bunch….Ninny, Sammy, Kovalev, Murray, Abby and plays Halak and Leighton as goalies, uses Dandy and Boully sparingly, bring up Chipchura and keep Kostysisn, bring up Milroy and Biron, send down Murray and heck even Koivu if you have to…let the rookies finish the season they could pull off a miracle, they did early in the year, why not at the end. Have an almost exclusively Rookie Habs finish to this year!

Is this blog a serious discussion? Or just a bunch of people who want to fight and call each other losers? I’m about a week old on this thing and thought it would be a great way to stay informed and voice my opinion.

I’m already getting tired of the kindergarten attitude.

Most of you laugh at Leafs fans (like me), yet you come up with the same excuses. Send the whole team down to the minors…fire the coaches and GMs… Yeah, great way to improve team chemistry, let’s just start over. That’ll fix everything. LOL. Come on guys, you can do better than that. Try an original thought.

I agree with Don’s # 12 & 13 reply. Especially # 13……….

I do not bemoan the win Saturday because St. Louis had been doing pretty well in their role as spoiler by keeping every game close since trading away their UFAs. I do not however, dismiss the need for these guys to step it up, build off this win and come together as a team. At least try to restore confidence in the organizations the future. Most believe they can not do it, but they should use this cynicism to fuel a run for the playoffs. At this point, they’re playing an in playoff elimination situation ‘til the end! Unfortunately, almost everyone they play is in the same predicament.

You would have been crusified if you were still on this team… You’re teams top point getters have failed to produce a 50 pt player at this point. Lets say I could get a set of tickets to Saturday nites game against the leafs, Is it worth my trip from Nova Scotia to go and watch?

If you want to pay $800.00 or more for those tickets it is not worth it.

Personally I would not pay over $800.00 for a set of tickets if the Habs were undefeated all year………….

I say staple his(Samsonov’s) *** to the press box seat for the remander of the season and buy him out for next year OR send him to Hamilton and if someone is stupid enough (not bloody likely!!)to pick him up then we would only have to pick up half of his salary I believe. He was not the player we should have signed.

Having grown more and more obsessed with hockey in the last few years, I’ve now resorted to reading what people say in blogs about the Habs! Before I have my head examined for being on this site, I’d just like to say that every person who is mentioning Kovalev and Koivu in the same breath is an utter and complete moron. On the one hand, you have a so-called league “superstar” who is somewhere between a pouting child and a rotten apple. He underachieves (his 14 goals so far this season would prove that) and he may (or may not) have crapped on the entire team, its coach and its fans in a foreign paper.

On the other hand, you have a guy who has done nothing but lead this team - in good and in dismal times - battling through personal adversity, including cancer and the loss of sight in an eye; a guy who leads the team in assists and in points (despite the blind spot); a man who is called a foreigner and criticised by the French media every day for whatever stupid reason they see fit. Has he ever done anything but played his *** off, occasional bad nights notwithstanding (everyone has a bad day at work sometimes)? A guy who’s been quoted in Finnish papers as saying he only wants to play hockey here in Montreal – because there would be no point winning a Stanley Cup anywhere else. That’s the guy I want leading my hockey team.

Shame on all of you for not seeing that.

Nat ,let Koivu stay but the C goes to Souray,it’s time for change and new beginings.Let the march for C.H. dominance in the N.H.L. resume !!!
