Habs fight back
-
The Canadiens showed last night that they can still play hockey from time to time. They actually looked like hockey players, playing as a team and they managed a huge win. A win while coming from two goals down, something they haven’t done in a long time.
Aebischer let in the first goal and then another on a penalty shot and it started to look like the same old story for the Canadiens.
It didn’t look great when a cold Mike Dunham comes off the bench, having not started in 19 games and stoned the Canadiens on 3-4 good scoring chances. Basically outshining Aebischer at that point.
The Habs key players started doing their job.
The best game by far in a long time for Guillaume Latendresse, Michael Ryder, Chris Higgins and Andrei Kostitsyn. Hopefully this is something they can build on and produce consistently down the final stretch.
Yvon Pedenault made a great point, letting us know Guillaume Latendresse now has more goals than Alex Kovalev. One is a rookie, one is a veteran earning over $4 million.
The log jam is even tighter now with 5 teams within only 2 points of each other. All of a sudden the Islanders don’t look so secure anymore. Especially with the future of Rick DiPietro uncertain. They are by no means safe. Which is good news for the Habs.

March 14, 2007 am31 12:01 pm
Well boy and girls (no offense Joshtm) It comes down to this Saturday night between the Laffs and the Habs. The team who wins that game will make it to the playoffs I think. The question is “Who wants it more”?????
March 14, 2007 am31 12:08 pm
Here’s two seats in the press box for the rest of the season: 1 for Samsonov and the other for Kovalev. the habs last night proved that they don’t need kovalev on the team to win games. i love the effort put forth by the habs last night. you could tell that the flood gates were gonna open in the third. nice work boys. keep the ball rolling now!!!
March 14, 2007 am31 12:16 pm
If Gainey & Carbo were smart, they would lock those two Russians in the bathroom, feed them under the door until the Habs make the playoffs and the season is completly over.(hopefully in june)
The team don’t need thier negativity in the dressinh room.
Hell, we could even send them over to Joshtm’s place. After the going over that Joshtm would lay on them (if you know what I mean). The Russians would not be able to speak another word for months anyway.
March 14, 2007 am31 12:22 pm
Prediction: Kovalev plays on Friday and the Habs lose big in Pittsburg…
I know I sound (and am) very pessimistic (?), but too many wins and losses by other teams have to go MTL’s way in order to get in the playoffs. It just won’t happen.
I pray something is done in the off-season. I’d like to see Patrick Roy as coach. Man, he would stir up some *%#t!
March 14, 2007 am31 12:24 pm
Yeah, I think last night may have been a sign that the heretofore “unexplained” transition from one of the top teams to one of the worst teams may have in fact had something to do with dressing room politics. I mean, imagine how some of those guys probably feel when they outproduce someone who makes at least five times their salary…and imagine how those guys must feel when they work hard to “follow a system” that some of the veterans ignore completely. My hunch is that Samsonov will probably have a hard time finding a team after the Canadiens buy out his contract: there’s no question he has enough skill to be in the NHL, but how much would you pay for poison in your locker room?
March 14, 2007 am31 12:30 pm
It all depends on how many RATS we have lurking around in there……. Maybe a buck 99……..
March 14, 2007 am31 12:42 pm
It’s a simple mindset now. Take it one period at a time and outskate and out work the opponent.
March 14, 2007 am31 12:49 pm
Smiler, you are one smart Habs Fan. You put Josntm to shame.
Seriously, I agree on most of the comments that you make.
Maybe we should run for GM & Coach next year. We can bring our (your) ideas to the table.
March 14, 2007 am31 12:51 pm
I called Carbo and told I would bring my gear Saturday incase he wants me to suit up. I told him I was just as happy to play as I would be to watch, He told me if I was to play on my first shift I have drop the gloves with Tucker on center ice. If thats what it takes then thats what it takes.
March 14, 2007 am31 12:55 pm
I don’t know, Kovalev actually tried last game vs STL…and that’s likely why he was out the next game with vertigo. Heartless.
March 14, 2007 am31 12:55 pm
Well, I can always put the nega-spin on it all if you want… This team’s still gonna fail waaaaaaaaah, but then I’d sound like joshtm.
I’m sorry the ‘one period at a time’ comment bugs you but it’s the simple truth. Ain’t no doubt ’bout it, yup.
March 14, 2007 am31 12:57 pm
so u r goin’ then Habadoo? good show. But don’t be a hero…going out on the ice will mean missing out on Chez paris. And that would be wrong.
March 14, 2007 am31 1:01 pm
Doesn’t annoy, smiler. Just the same cliches we get to hear every night on the sports news. ‘Take it one game(period) ata time, work hard to get our bounces, blah blah. Do pro athletes have to attend a school for this? It seems 99% of them spout the same rhetoric every time there’s a mike handy.
Except for the 1% of Kovalev, Samsonov, Ribiero, et. al. They just spew venom and high pitched whines.
March 14, 2007 am31 1:08 pm
Young guns come through in crunch:
JACK TODD, The Gazette
This is funny:
The Canadiens went back to the future last night. In truth, they had no choice.
Radek Bonk was out with the flu. Alex Kovalev was suffering from vertigo induced by the flu. Guy Carbonneau was suffering from vertigo induced by Sergei Samsonov.
Scratch Bonk, Kovalev and Samsonov then, with $10 million on the shelf in the form of the three veteran forwards. And bring on Generation Next: Guillaume Latendresse, Michael Ryder, Chris Higgins, Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Kostitsyn
March 14, 2007 am31 1:33 pm
I just wanted to admit something most of you guys did not even think of. A great portion of this site’s bloggers wanted Gainey to acquire Bertuzzi. Sorry if I offend some of you guys, but you guys aren’t making sense. If you guys are complaining about Samsonov and Kovalev, what are you guys going to say about Bertuzzi if he would have been acqired by Bob? He earns over 5 million a year, and is not even playing!?!?!!!!!!!!! Are you getting my point? I rather have a Kovalev on my team rather than having a Bertuzzi that misses 3/4 of the season resting in the beaches in Florida.
But listen I do not mean that Samsonov and Kovalev are positive aspects to the team, but that you guys have to acknowledge that there underachievers in other teams too.
i.e:
TORONTO: Mc Cabe, Kubina
BOSTON: Savard (he has lots of points but doesnt help the team at all)
NEW JERSEY: Gomez, Elias(worst captain in the league and earning around 7 mil.)
NEW YORK R.: Jagr ( is on a slump just like Kovalev + earns 8.8 million)
NEW YORK ILS.:Yashin (this man is not even close to be worth what he’s earning)
WASHINGTON: Kolzig (what a joke)
NASHVILLE: Forsberg
VANCOUVER: Naslund ( is he really wearinbg the C??)
DETROIT: Bertuzzi ( 5 millions????)
CALGARY: Tanguay
COLORADO: Theodore ( no need fo explations for this one)
ST-LOUIS: Doug Weight
PHOENIX: Ed Jovanovski
March 14, 2007 am31 1:39 pm
I would say don’t play Dandy and Bouilly against Toronto, bench Koivu if you have to, bring up Grabby and Milroy.
March 14, 2007 am31 1:42 pm
Becareful Jack LOL…. Don’t wake up Joshtm. He is due for his feeding pretty soon. If he don’t get it he will become pretty nasty. Especially if some one like your self makes comments that he don’t like. Beware of the wrath of Joshtm. LOL…
March 14, 2007 am31 1:42 pm
****………….
March 14, 2007 am31 1:44 pm
Hey Jack, talk about brown nosing hey, since you don’t got Rivet’s flu to blame for the slump, Carbo has decided to give you another excuse, now we can say Kovalev has the flu, so the habs didn’t make the playoffs.
By the way, big difference in your listing of underachievers, while they may underachieve, they at least show up in the top 100!
Our’s don’t even show up in the top 200!
March 14, 2007 am31 1:52 pm
Oh ! Hi Joshtm. How are you doing this fine afternoon? The Habs done good last night eh.
I forgot to welcome our friend. Hello Jack.
March 14, 2007 am31 1:53 pm
funniest comment made after last nights game…when Higgy was interviewed on the NY TV station about the injury to DiPietro..Higgy replied, “yeah, he is a good kid….etc”.. DP is older than Higgy..but higgy is way mature for his years..Guys, focus on what makes the Habs great, rather than what hurt thems.
every team is made up of haves and have nots.. or this case, Habs, and Habs not..
see you in the playoffs
March 14, 2007 am31 1:54 pm
One more thing, they also at least help with key game winning goals. What do ours do? They turn a power play 5 on three to a short handed 3 on five! Only the habs have this special skill, and we pay them millions to do this!
March 14, 2007 am31 2:00 pm
Joshtm. Are you mad at me. I said Hello……….
March 14, 2007 am31 2:04 pm
“It’s no cliche, it’s the truth”
- The Pursuit of Happiness “I’m An Adult Now” 1988
One shift at a time. I have no problem with Kovalev, I accept him for what he is, great sometimes, invisible other times but I truly think he does care in his own aloof way whereas Samsonov’s repeated whining to the media has lost me. The Habs always seem to have a magician on their team going back to the greatest illusionist of them all, Vladimir Malakhov, a guy who would play great one game and makes himself invisible for the next three.
I dunno about benching Saku, Dandy and Bouillon but I’d love to see Duncan Milroy, Mik Grabovsky and Kyle Chipchura up here at some point. Rookies always seem to inject life into teams.
Pittsburgh should be an entertaining game win or lose but I just hope they’re up for creaming the **** out of the Laffs on Saturday after the Pennsylvania funfest.
Here’s to at least 3 points this weekend! Cheers, off to work, be excellent to one another, dudes.
March 14, 2007 am31 2:04 pm
Did anyone else think that maybe the team that played last night is built for speed?
Guys like Kovy and Bonk are slower pace setting players. Maybe the chemistry is off because their timing is set at different speeds. My strategy would be to match up slower guys w/ slower guys and the Fast guys w/ the faster guys; Kind of like in Football’s Defensive strategy when using a nickel-back D against the pass and a bigger prevent D against the run. Or the case of a Pitcher, when throwing an off-speed pitch in baseball. Changing tempos could be used to our advantage…
And again, I doubt the Habs management will bench Kovy just because they won without him… unless he is still has the vertigo problem.
FYI… Latendresse is hot with 4 goals in the last 3 games:
Guillaume Latendresse, 15 (Tomas Plekanec, 23 Andrei Kostitsyn, 4)
Guillaume Latendresse, 14 (Michael Ryder, 24 Saku Koivu, 40)
Guillaume Latendresse, 13 (Alex Kovalev, 28 Francis Bouillon,
Guillaume Latendresse, 12 (Mike Johnson, 19 Andrei Markov, 34)
*Notice anything? None of the same linemates on any of the goals! Wierd stuff! Anyway…
My Projected lines:
Latendresse, Koivu, Ryder
Higgins, Pleks, Kostitsyn
Kovy, Bonk, (Streit/Johnson)
Begin, Lapierre, (Johnson/Streit)
Murray (extra) inserted if you’re not hustling!
It was nice not to have to depend on Souray’s shot for offense.
Just a Habs thought…
Go Habs Go
March 14, 2007 am31 2:13 pm
My question to Gainey would be, “what chemistry?”. None of the players plays well with each other, its all hit and miss!
March 14, 2007 am31 2:18 pm
Smiler good point~
“Pittsburgh should be an entertaining game win or lose but I just hope they’re up for creaming the sh@#t out of the Laffs on Saturday after the Pennsylvania funfest”
They have played well against Pitt this year, but not so well after big games… Lets hope they’ll fight til the end! I would hate to win against Pitt and not have enough gas to get by the Laffs!
March 14, 2007 am31 2:22 pm
Kovalev’s career in question? TSN
March 14, 2007 am31 2:24 pm
Great win last night, it was even more important where T.O. won. 5 teams, 2 points, 2 spots, we’re gonna be alright i think. The rooks are finally playing well and ryder stepped up big last night too. Get Mr. Huet back and we’ll be set for a solid playoff run, hopefully we can play buffalo first round, seeing we have the best record against them of the whole league.
Kovalev has that vertigo problem, and it we all know why he has it:
Because we haven’t heard that song nearly enough from him at home this year!!
March 14, 2007 am31 2:42 pm
I don’t know if this vertigo thing is true, but remembering Hackett’ time here, it was probably dizziness from all the pucks that whistled by him. I am not alone in hoping this vertigo thing eliminates Kovalev from our roster. I’d really like to believe this is a medical thing, and not just another example of his abject heartlessness.
Long term injury relief for Kovalev, who would be getting paid by the insurance company, and not the team—what a dream come true scenario! Add trading Samsonov to my wish list, at least if we don’t buy him out. I’m against paying him another 2 + mil, for any reason.
We would lose the 2 biggest slackers on this team in one fell swoop. It’s something I’m gonna ask god for next time i pray.
March 14, 2007 am31 2:43 pm
not that i pray or anything. Losing both off our roster would be a prayer answered though.
March 14, 2007 am31 2:49 pm
Kovalev’s injury sounds to be career-threatening, which may be good news for the Canadiens because he never shows any heart and doesn’t deserve to wear the CH. He plays when he wants to, which is basically every 5 or 6 games. We DONT need Kovalev. He is a cancer on the team like Samsonov. We need to get Briere in the offseason and lose some of that dead-weight that we have. I think this might have been the best thing to happen to the Canadiens this year, anyone agree?
Ziman
March 14, 2007 am31 2:55 pm
Oh no, if we lose Kovalev, Gainey’s “chemistry” for the team could be in jeopardy! What is BG going to do?
March 14, 2007 am31 2:58 pm
Hire you JOSHTM as Head Coach ??????????????
March 14, 2007 am31 3:02 pm
I think everyones “jumping the gun” a bit… he says he feels better than yesterday, he’s only had it a few days, so why would he decide, now after a goal and assist in St. Louis playing on the 4th line, to scheme up a career ending insurance scam, so he can get out of Montreal? I must be missing something? Virtego can be cause by something as simple as fluid in the inner ear; Not that uncommon with someone suffering from the Flu.
I know TSN the “Know-all” when it come to medical evaluation, but lets wait until it comes from the horses mouth before we spend his cap room.
March 14, 2007 am31 3:12 pm
More like pay off Kovalev for doing nothing…although it would be pretty bad if Alexei got hurt regardless, no one wants a player to get injured.
March 14, 2007 am31 3:36 pm
According to everyones analysis Kovy’s getting paid off for doing nothing so why fake the injury.
Kovy looked good in St. Louis, yet everyone still jumped all over him. Not surprizing Latendresse, just a couple of days ago, was seen as Carbos great french mistake that should have been sent to Hamilton long ago… its the same old same old…
March 14, 2007 am31 3:37 pm
Tell Sergi Seasonov to hit the road. Pay him ov or send him down whatever but get rid of him. He is a disgrace to the uniform.
Hopefully Kovertigo will retire.
Thanks
March 14, 2007 am31 3:40 pm
How much money do you need to retire in Mother Russia??????????????A few botlles of Vodka……………
March 14, 2007 am31 4:05 pm
Kovalev did look mostly good vs STL, at times. If i had a thousand for every game he played lazy, however, let’s just say i could take a few years off from working. Or at least have some kickass sh_t.
March 14, 2007 am31 4:19 pm
I just cannot figure out why people have Kovalev as this evil monster that brings down the whole team. He does play on the top line when they’re not scoring. He does not seem to be out-spoken, like the NFL football idoits, that whine and cry to teammates demanding the puck. He must possess some Russian VOODOO mind control that makes not just his line but everyother line suck! He does have a fishy scowl 8(
Anyway, I hope he is alright. It’s bad Karma to cheer player injuries; especial your own teams.
He hasn’t been an impact player, so hopefully they’ll continue to push for a spot with or without him.
Go Habs Go
March 14, 2007 am31 4:25 pm
right on couNTY.
best of luck to mr. kovalev
March 14, 2007 am31 4:59 pm
Sometimes the Hockey Gods smile on us, and sometimes they give us the unfortunate to look after, for now its the UNICEF of Hockey period I guess, where Montreal saves those hapless veterans, maybe Gainey should set up a mini statue of liberty, “give us your broken down veterans, your undesireable UFAs”….
March 14, 2007 am31 5:09 pm
Joshtm, that’s the inscription on the Leafs dressing room door…
March 14, 2007 am31 5:46 pm
Let’s talk about Mr. Vertigo(Kovalev). I actually have vertigo. It’s a cronic condition, caused by fluid in the inner ear. It affects your equilibrium, and makes you dizzy. But there are pills(called serc) which you can take for it. Tho I have dizzy spells, it comes in waves so you never know when you’re going to get dizzy. But, IT HAS NEVER STOPPED ME FROM LIVING A NORMAl ROUTINE. You can drive a car, skate, ski, almost anything, including PLAYING HOCKEY!
Isn’t it strange, that in the last few weeks, all of a sudden, these 2 imaginary illnesses strike Kovalev? Makes sense that it’s happening near the END OF THE SEASON(as in rest time for Mr, hard worker). He was okay when we were winning, but when the focus is on him, he’s got these ailments.
LOKK AT THIS: THE ELBOW INJURY HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER HE’S BENCHED.
THEN THE VERTIGO HAPPENS, RIGHT AFTER THE MEDIA STORY FROM RUSSIA!
It’s TOO CONVENIENT, AND I DON’T BELIEVE HIM FOR 1 MOMENT! HE CONJURED UP BOTH THESE AILMENTS, BECAUSE HE’S A COWARD AND AFRAID TO FACE THE MUSIC! SHAME ON YOU, KOVALEV! GOOD RIDDINS! I HOPE YOU NEVER ERVER PLAY FOR US AGAIN. TAKE YOUR 4.75 MILLION AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR RUSKY ***! YOU’R PATHETIC, AND YOUR ACT HAS WORN OLD!
March 14, 2007 am31 6:11 pm
Instead of buying out Sami, pay 2/3 of his salary (same as a buy out) and traded in to the shittiest team in the league. Suffer, *****, suffer!!!
March 14, 2007 am31 6:32 pm
Actually, Rubberman, Samsonov has clauses in his contract that prohibit trades to certain teams, or so I heard. And we can’t pay him no six mil for this season–cause that’s what it’ll be like, when he’s free to sign with and make money for another team.
We just can’t reward this guy with a buyout–it’s exactly what he wants the Habs to do. No doubt he’d spend all of next year crying about us to the press some more as well. I say Hamilton looks good enough for him. Gilette can afford to pay a guy $3.5 mil to play in the minors.
March 14, 2007 am31 6:34 pm
I hope that the Montreal Canadians doctors have thoroughly
examined Alex Kovalev. A condition like vertigo could indicate
a problem in the central nervous system. Or worse.
I, for one, think that if Kovalev had higher level linemates
that he would be a much greater asset to the team.
Maybe paired with Higgins and Ryder, or Latendresse.
March 14, 2007 am31 7:13 pm
Just a note for everyone who thinks Samsonov can be traded to a team by having Montreal agree to pay a portion of his salary. That’s not allowed under the new CBA. You can’t agree to pay any portion of a players contract in a trade. The only way to move a player like Samsonov is to accept someone in return who is overpaid and underachieving. That is why there was talk of Samsonov to Chicago for Aucoin.
He’ll be tough to move at his contract price and without being able to pay some of his salary and may meen they’re stuck with him.
March 14, 2007 am31 8:18 pm
Richard Riewer: Vertigo has nothing to do with the CNS. It’s simply vertigo, commonly called dizzy spells, and it is a very common condition. It involves the inner ear. The tchnical word for this condition is labrynthitis. I have it, along with millions of others. There is no cure, but it is very manageable.
Don’t let Kovalev’s theatrics sway you to think otherwise. BTW, I do have a medical degree, so I know what I am talking about.
March 14, 2007 am31 8:20 pm
Kovalev better be playing Saturday nite I wanna see that son of a ***** score twice and lay out Tucker again,
March 14, 2007 am31 9:02 pm
Instead of buying out Sami, pay 2/3 of his salary (same as a buy out) and traded in to the shittiest team in the league. Suffer, *****, suffer!!!
He is with that team now……….
March 14, 2007 am31 9:06 pm
Hey Dr. R Hab.
I have this pain right in my ***. Ya have any idea what it is…LOL…….
March 14, 2007 am31 9:47 pm
It’s called Hab-itis! a few wins would certainly help!
March 14, 2007 am31 9:49 pm
Die Hard: I have a pain too, Kovalitis! I hope it disappears!
March 14, 2007 am31 9:51 pm
Oh!! I thought it was Joshtmitis……….
March 14, 2007 am31 11:12 pm
you guys are a riot…love this site even though a lot of the same stuff over and over, keep it going guys.
Someone up above made the comment on bertuzzi….trust me he is just anothere maggott
like samso and kovalev, overpaid, gutless a,d downright coward to boot.
March 15, 2007 am31 2:58 am
I’d have vertigo too if i saw rookie performing twice as good as me. giving ten times more effort, skating harder, checking harder, scoring more, gettting more ice-time. Getting paid 5 times less. ****, my head would be spinning out of control. Kind of like having too much to drink then trying to fall asleep.
It’s too bad it has come down to this, it just goes to show; those who really want it can acheive it. Those who think it’s a given and it will just show up on a silver platter end up with “VERTIGO”. Or as i would like to call it “VERTI-GO TO ANOTHER TEAM”. good luck against the pens boys. big couple days coming up. fill the gas tank and run those engines till there as dry as a bone!!!!!!! GO HABS GO
March 15, 2007 am31 3:11 am
OK, maybe I was a little harsh there on poor Kovalev!!!!
March 15, 2007 am31 7:06 am
I was one of the people who thought Bertuzzi would look good in our jersey. Maybe not the best choice, but what I would really love to see for next season is some toughness. Someone who can score & hit. Someone who can change the emotion of a game with one bone-crunching body check.
March 15, 2007 am31 7:22 am
“I went on the Internet yesterday to try and find out what the causes are, said Kovalev. “I want to make sure it doesn’t happen again. There’s no medicine that you can take for it but there are certain exercises you can do with your head. R Habs 4 Real Post #45 Pills are called Serc right?
“I definitely wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. I’ve heard some guys say that some players were forced to retire because of it. Hopefully that doesn’t happen to me.”
Is this his nice way of telling the media and the fans he’s done? He’s going to play a few games regardless, whether its toronto on saturday or buffalo 2 weeks from now. if we make the playoffs, he’ll be in the lineup for sure. if we don’t, salut alexei! don’t fall on the golf course!!!
March 15, 2007 am31 7:55 am
Amen Brothers & Sisters - Again no offense Joshtm…………….
March 15, 2007 am31 8:53 am
Been cruisin’ the net this morning, and see a lot of “experts” saying this or that about the whole Samsonov charade. Alan Adams, of Sportsnet.ca, thinks the habs would be,”…Smart to buy him out…”. Sean McCormick thinks,”The bulk of the blame lies with Guy Carbonneau.” While I agree that Samsonov has to go, and that Carbo is at least partly to blame, it irritates me to the nth degree when I read/hear these so called experts rattle off about things they only ever see on the highlight reel.
Though I don’t agree with everyone posting here, or on other hab forums, we all at least watch the Montreal games, as many as we can, and are thus informed in our opinions. Discussion/disagreement is good as it promotes debate. But no-one can see the kind of season Samsonov, and other habs for that matter, have had without watching the games. I sicerely doubt McCormick has seen any hab games the last few seasons, unless they were vs the Oilers, his self professed fave team.
That’s not a condemnation of McCormick, just simple facts. I’ve seen all but 3 or 4 of the hab games this year and not too many other teams non-mtl matchups. As a rule, we watch our favorite teams games before those of other teams. Even with the center ice package, there are only so many games a person can watch. Other factors, such as family/social life, late games interfering with work schedules, and such, preclude watching every game.
I just wish these highlight only sportscasters would watch a team play before they spout their ignorant drivel. You don’t, and won’t, see me on a Predator’s blogspace( if one even exists!) talking about things I haven’t seen, and only understand via a brief flash of morning highlights.
As for Alan Adams, I’ve made my thoughts on buying the stiff out abundantly clear on this space before. It’s what the puke has been angling for ever since he shot his mouth off. He should take a page from Ninnimma, and STFU!
March 15, 2007 am31 9:22 am
Dr. R habs 4 real,
So the only way you experience vertigo is from fluid in the inner ear??? Come on… There can be many reasons for having vertigo including Brain tumors, Blood clots, Chemical imbalances, Nerve damage, ect. Not just labrynthitis. How can you attest on the severity of someone’s aliment? Just you can do normal things does mean he can. He is playing a high level impact sport at which only a select few have the privilege to play, not driving like driving a car or everyday experiences of the common person. I have no doubt you experience vertigo and I do not question it, but keep the medical opinions to the experts…
Oh Yeah, he had a great reason to dream up a vertigo??? Scored 1 and an assist in his last outing playing with the 3rd and 4th line…LOL
Anyway he’s feeling better and most likely to play Friday.
March 15, 2007 am31 9:41 am
Post#60 LeBeau - Although, I agree we need a impact player, I think we would need more of the goal scoring kind at his price. I doubt the organization would gamble on a player at his having a questionable back and spotty history. Could only imagine the media harassment causing him the serve most of his contract behind bars for killing one of them.
His last complete year of stats does not look nay better than our current guys:
Year Team GP G A Pts +/-
05-06 VAN 82 25 46 71 -17
I think we could find better quality for the money.

Definition of Vertigo:
Vertigo is a type of dizziness felt as a shift in a person’s relationship to the normal environment (a feeling that the room is spinning is common) or a sense of movement in space. Although dizziness and vertigo are often used interchangeably, they are not the same thing. While all vertigo is dizziness, not all dizziness is vertigo.
Description of Vertigo:
There are four major types of dizziness - vertigo, presyncope, disequilibrium, and lightheadedness. Most patients with true vertigo have a peripheral vestibular disorder, such as benign positional vertigo. This is usually associated with tinnitus and hearing loss. Central disorders, such as brain stem or cerebellar lesions, tend to be more chronic but less intense than peripheral disorders and are not associated with hearing loss. Central disorders account for only 15 percent of patients with vertigo. Vertigo is the illusion that you - or your surroundings - are moving. You may feel that you are spinning, tilting, rocking, or falling through space. You may vomit or have ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Also, your eyes may uncontrollably jerk back and forth (a condition called nystagmus).
Symptoms of Vertigo:
A patient may experience severe vertigo for days or weeks. Nausea, vomiting, and involuntary eye movements are common. The condition gradually improves, but symptoms can persist for weeks or months.

Well at least someone took the time to imform us, that maybe Kovy was not fit to play if he was suffering from these symptoms…
To add further info, there are three main types of vertigo: spontaneous vertigo, recurrent attacks of vertigo, and positional vertigo.
“The vertigo problem can be dervived from the ear or the brain. If the problem comes from the brain, then it is called central. Central causes of vertigo include stroke/or tumor in the brainstem, multiple sclerosis, migraine, drugs (sedatives), panic or anxiety, and head trauma. Peripheral dizziness can be seen to be less severe of the two because it does not severely affect the brain.”

Medical Treatment of vertigo:
The choice of treatment will depend on the diagnosis. Vertigo can be treated with medicine you take by mouth, through medicine placed on the skin (as a patch), or drugs given through an IV. Specific types of vertigo may require additional treatment and referral:
Bacterial infection of the middle ear requires antibiotics.
For Meniere disease, in addition to symptomatic treatment, people might be placed on a low salt diet and may require medication used to increase urine output.
A hole in the inner ear causing recurrent infection may require referral to an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist for surgery.
In addition to the drugs used for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, several physical maneuvers can be used to treat the condition.
Vestibular rehabilitation exercises consist of having you sit on the edge of a table and lie down to one side until the vertigo resolves followed by sitting up and lying down on the other side, again until the vertigo ceases. This is repeated until the vertigo is no longer inducible.
Particle repositioning maneuver is a treatment based on the idea that the condition is caused by small stones in the inner ear. Your head is repositioned to move the stones to their normal position. This maneuver should be repeated until the abnormal eye movements are no longer visible.

Just Call Me DR.D - M.D, PH.D
I have a PH.D in:
Habs Science
I am a M.D in KICKIN LEAF ***………….

So the treatment would depend on the diagnosis of the type of vertigo? Which the doctors could not pinpoint, so instead of taking drugs needlessly becasue of a possible misdiagnosis, he chose the exercises… makes sense to me…
Like I said, seems like he’s feeling better and possible for a return this weekend at this point… We’ll know more after todays skate.

Thats’s my Prognosis yes.
It is good that Kovalev may/will get better. I don’t want to see anybody suffering from sickness. But I don’t mind Leaf Fans suffering at the hands of the Habs though. I don’t hate Kovalev. I don’t hate anybody. Hate is such a hard word. I dislike a few people………..
BUT will his return help or hurt our Habs?????????

Didn’t Jeff Hackett retire from Vertigo?
March 15, 2007 am31 11:40 am
Yes He sure did…………
March 15, 2007 am31 11:48 am
It is entirely possible Kovalev could have the same faith as Hackett. But just because he is experiencing it does not make it a death sentence. People suffer from concussions symptoms, some need to retire, but some recover. We shouldn’t judge him for suffering from the experience.

Should be ‘fate’ not Faith. although, our faith has been shaken recently…

Kovalev is simply- AN IMPOSTER! If he sneezed once, he would tell us all he has the flu, and not show up for a week. Besides, he did undergo tests, and it was concluded: a simple case of dizzy spells- ONE OF THE MOST COMMON AILMENTS SUFFERED BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE! SERC IS THE MOST RECOMMENDED PILL AND WORKS FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE. But as I stated in an earlier post, I do have to question his timing on all these so called ailments. First, the elbow injury IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE’S BENCHED! then the vertigo thing, RIGHT AFTER HIS BASHING OF TEAMMATES AND COACHES TO A RUSSIAN NEWSPAPER! It’s just all too convenient! And we already know he has NO HEART, so it wouldn’t take much to keep him out of the lineup. Besides, whether he’s in the lineup or out of the lineup, HE’S STILL INVISIBLE!
And County habs fan: I made my comments about Vertigo, only AFTER he had undergone a battery of tests to pinpoint and eliminate other related illnesses.
And yes of course, when you’re dizzy, you get nautious. I can relate to that. It’s not fun, but an attack usually last for only about 15-20 seconds.
For me. I find it difficult when sleeping, because when I turn my head to the left, I get extremely dizzy. Another cause of vertigo, is STRESS! I get attacks when I feel very stressed. But what does Kovalev need to be stressed over? He certainly doesn’t work hard, and he makes an exsorbient amount of money for working maybe 20 games a year. (that’s the only amount of games he’s truly visible). Oh, yeah and his wonderful 14 goals! What a joke he is!
March 15, 2007 am31 12:12 pm
Personally, I hope he has vertigo the rest of the season, because his lack of effort, gives me stress and VERTIGO! Whether he truly has vertigo(or just looking for an excuse to get out of his contract, and out of this city) is debatable. But 1 thing he is- is a CANCER ON THIS TEAM!

Moving on… What worries me is PITT still rolling toward the playoffs with a full head of steam. They’ve only lost 1 game outright this month and are coming off an impressive shutout win over our nemeses NJD. The surprising thing is the NJD win was the only game that was not decided by 1 goal. They seemed to have strung together wins in an eerily similar Habs style looking, if one looks back to compare it to the 1st half of our season. Maybe it will catch up with them too… but at the most crucial time!

With KOVALEV being a pilot ,I would wonder if he’s been flying lately? Mind you ,we been flying with him all season ,which gave me acid reflux, vertigo, panic attacks and bouts of anger and depression! These symptoms got worse in conjunction with samsonitis. It feels like getting bonked in the head making me feel like I have downey symptom and I’ve been souray ever since. lol

What is the cure? OR Should I ask that…………..

and Not arguing the fact that his season has been a big disapointment… but so have a lot of player’s this season.
