Best Worst Goaltender Wins
-
The Habs and Leafs both in a battle for their playoff lives meet tonight in Montreal.
Both coming off losses yesterday due to bad goaltending.
The team that wins tonight is going to be the one with the
best goaltendingleast crappy goaltending.Andrew Raycroft was pulled in his last visit to Montreal. David Aebischer has played so poorly that Guy Carbonneau is starting Jaro Halak again, who let 5 goals in on 15 shots in his last start.
What choice does he have?
It’s impossible to predict what kind of effort the Canadiens are going to bring to the table. The goaltending situation needs to improve for them to have any chance at staying in the race.
The Canadiens can overtake the Leafs in the standings with a win tonight.

Go get someone CAPABLE OF PLAYING 70 GAMES!’ Ya like it’s that easy. There are three goalie’s in the entire league capable of playing 70 or more games and if Gainey calls up Dave Nonis, Lou Lamerillo, or Darryl Sutter asking for Luongo, Brodeur or Kiprusoff respectively, he’ll get lauphed off the phone.
And it’s Carbo’s first year coaching. What did you expect Scotty Bowman(who isn’t coming back so don’t hold out hope for that.)? Carbo is bound to make some mistakes, he’ll learn form them. Your acting like anything less then perfection is unacceptable, well guess what? Nobody’s perfect. Even the best make mistakes. And Bowman had the greatest roster of all around talent put together in the history of the game(the Oilers had the greatest offence of all time but their D wasn’t great and Fuhr was overrated). Carbo dosen’t have Shutt, Lafleur, Gainey, Lamaire, Robinson, Lapointe, Savard or Dryden to work with.
The Habs roster isn’t that great. They drastically overacheived in the beginning of the year thanks to Huet AND CARBO. The players on this team aren’t great. When do the players become accountable(and yes I’m talking about the young guys to. Ryder is -27, Higgins is -17, Lapierre is -4, and Latendresse is -14. That means that the other team scores more on the Habs when they’re out there for you unintelligent hockey fans.). And the goaltenders suck. Until Halak and Price are ready to take the torch(mostly Price because he’s got the physical and mental tools to play 70+ games IN THE FUTURE. HE ISN’T READY YET!). So get used to this.

It’s AEBISCHER, not ABEISCHER !
Is that so hard…
March 17th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
Carolina is leading the devils 3-0 in the 2nd! It’s all over guys! Our season is now officially over! Going into tonight’s game we will be 4 points out of 8th place. Just forget it! leafs, NYI, Carolina are all ahead of us, with games in hand. Just bring as many eggs as you can to the bell centre, and cream CARBO, the moron! To bad , but habs have no but themselves, and Abbyshit, to blame for all their losses. We can only pray that Gainey will make sufficient changes in the off season, or else it’s the same ****!
March 17th, 2007 at 2:28 pm
I agree it is all over but the cryin…Boo Hooo Hooo.
Habs#1, That + / - **** don’t mean anything. That is a load of ****.
I hope that Montreal looses big time tonight.
I hope that Carbo gets pelted with so many tomatoes that he will be red for months.
If the Montreal Fans there tonight had ANY GUTS AT ALL they would cause a riot at the bell centre.
You can’t throw 21,000 people in the klink…………..
March 17th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
Is any body back tonight.
Who’s stating in nets.
March 17th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
I just got the call here in Orangeville, I’m starting in goal tonight for the Habs, Gainey’s flying me in. A 42 year old beer league goaler eh, starting for Montreal on HNIC, pinch me.
Okay, it’s the Guinness talking but hell, I have the heart, I have the size, the only thing I needed to make the NHL was that talent thing. Oh well, is Aebischer much better????
March 17th, 2007 at 3:38 pm
lol and i will take lattendresse’s spot on the top line smiler. We will turn this team around buddy lol
March 17th, 2007 at 3:43 pm
Why don’t we just put Youppi in nets. Can’t be any worse than Abbyshit, and he’s big. Just tie him to the goalposts and we’re all set.
Sorry, but I have a bad feeling about tonight’s game. If the players think it’s over(and it really is) they won’t show up. Except for the last meeting between the 2 clubs, we really haven’t played well against them.
But the truth is, I really don’t care anymore. Neither team is going to make the playoffs anyways!
March 17th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
Joshtm:
Why you, two timing ****!!! You always told me that Stony Mountain was our special place. Don’t you remember our special times there, joshtm. You were wearing your Sidney Crosby jersey, and we sat under the moon, and made fun of everything related to the Habs. Ohh, there was our rants where we got a hate on for Gainey, Carbo, Dandy and Boully, Ninnimaa, Souray, Huet, Abby, Halak, Koivu, Kovy, Sammy, and Johnson who apparently fell on the ice.
But, we love Guillaume
March 17th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
+/- means that the other team scores more on you then you do on them. Why do you think the Red Wings have a very large overall team+ rating while the Flyers have a very high - rating?
And stop blaming Carbo damnit. It’s not always the coach’s fault you know. The PLAYERS on the team should shoulder more blame then him. Is it his fault that the goaltending sucks? Is it his fault that the team has no #1 centre? Is it his fault that the young guys are going through growing pains? If you think so you obviously know jack about hockey.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:16 pm
+/- is an important stat, like Habs#1 says, but it can be misleading as well. Not in the case of the top line or souray, though. Part of it can be attributed to the penalty kill factor, and some of it to just plain bad luck. Often, a poor line change causes a goal, and that’s not the fault of ALL the players who just stepped onto the ice.
I agree that Carbo has gotten a bit rougher ride than he deserves– a bit. His line juggling gets on my nerves something bad on some nights. Players need to develop cohesiveness with their linemates, or nobody scores. Montreal is a tough place to coach for a former player, or anyone for that matter, and it hasn’t helped Carbo that Gainey has provided him with some guys who are, at best, a bad fit to the system they want to play.
In the end, he’s gotta play the guys he has. I just wish he’d stumble onto some good combos, and keep them together. Off season moves will dictate the success/failure of Carbo as a coach, as I really don’t think Gainey will fire him until the end of next season, at the earliest. His picking of Carbo reflects too much on himself as GM, and we all know what a bang-up job he has done in that department.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Wow Carolina 7-2 In Jersey.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:29 pm
Watched some of that game, up til it was 4-0 Carolina–Brodeur got pulled, and their whole team looked disinterested. Glad to see it’s not just the habs who look that way.
By the way, the stiff they got working with Mike Emrick on the Devils broadcasts is just about the worst color guy ever. A stuttering, know-nothing, ‘tard of an excuse for a broadcaster. Didn’t catch buddy’s name, but I couldn’t listen to him any more, so I had to turn the game off. He makes the likes of Pierre Maguire and Glenn Healey sound wise and insightful in comparison, something I NEVER thought could happen.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:32 pm
Your telling me HB. That’s the inconsistency of Carolina, just like Montreal. They look like world beaters one minute then a trainwreck the next. But the win by Carolina was huge today. Kind of Reminds you of T-Bay(Stanley Cup champ one year and 8th place the next).
And it’s Carbo’s first year of coaching. He’s going to make mistakes and learn from them. Take whoever you think is the best coach in the game today and the best there ever was(Bowman). They ALL made mistakes they’re first couple years. They need time to develop and grow as coach’s, just like players need time to develop.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:47 pm
Glad to see Hollweg isn’t going to press charges vs Simon. There is never a need for Police to get involved in NHL affairs, in my mind. I’m sick of the debate, personally. I also think Moore is wrong to sue Bertuzzi. Regardless of his future health, and ability to come back, I hope nobody gives that ambulance chaser another shot at the NHL. No doubt he’ll sue everyone whose jersey brushes him if he’s allowed to play again. I’m sick of his 3 years of whining, and just wish he’d go away.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:51 pm
Bowman was great. Nobody talks about it much anymore, but I truly loved how he put Fedorov on defence. He’s still a floater, but he learned all ha knows of the defensive side of hockey then. No chance it would work for Samsonov or Kovalev, more’s the pity.
March 17th, 2007 at 6:03 pm
funny that you bring up Federov on defence because Hitchcock just did the same thing to him in Columbus.
March 17th, 2007 at 6:08 pm
Come on Dalley, do you really hope Montreal loses big time tonight? Do you really want them to lose to the Maple Leafs? That’s the last thing I would want.
The chances of seeing them in the post season certainly seem slim at this point, but for God’s sake, I don’t want to see a loss against the Leafs.
March 17th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
It would be nice to see these last 2 vs the Leafs(tonight and the reg season’s last matchup)be the reason they miss the playoffs, like last year. Even if we miss them too. My hatred for all things Maple Leaf is terrible to behold…if you’re a leaf fan. Being a leaf fan is a terrible way to rot your mind, worse than sniffing glue, or unauthorized- blow-torch/chainsaw-lobotomies. JUST SAY NO TO THE LEAFS!
March 17th, 2007 at 6:55 pm
Carbo is just an Idiot. And that is all that is to it period.
I can’t recall this + / - **** back in the 70’s.
March 17th, 2007 at 6:58 pm
LeBeau :
I don’t care who they loose to now that it’s over.
I dislike the leafs as much as you do. I just don’t give a **** anymore. I’m fed up.
March 17th, 2007 at 6:58 pm
I’m not saying everything is Carbo’s fault, but as far as the goalie situation, Carbo is just not thinking straight. He plays Abbyshit,EVEN THO HE CAN’T STOP A SHOT, BUT CONTINUES EVEN THO HE KNOWS THE HABS WILL LOSE WITH HIM IN THE NET! WHY DIDN’T THEY CALL UP LEIGHTON? HE CAN’T BE ANY WORSE THAN ABBYSHIT, PROBABLY BETTER. HALAK DOESN’T LOOK COMFORTABLE AND HASEN’T PERFORMED WELL. Why did they get Leighton if he’s not going to play? To rot in the AHL? we need him! And the line changing is ridiculous. Nobody knows from 1 game to the next, who their linemates will be. How will that help achieve chemistry? I could go on, but I won’t!
Time will tell. If the habs get off to a bad start next season, and don’t recover, CARBO will be gone by Xmas!
March 17th, 2007 at 7:12 pm
Carbo should be gone by victoria day. 2007.
I don’t see any tomatoe throwing yet.
March 17th, 2007 at 7:28 pm
CBC will hire any moron. They Hired Harry Neal. This man is an Idiot.
Tonite when ever raycroft makes a save even from center ice it is a great save.
Neal makes me sick. He has been fired from every job nhe has ever had.
March 17th, 2007 at 7:32 pm
Bob Cole makes me sick too. That should retire…………
March 17th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
The season is NOT over yet, there’s still achance for the team to make the playoffs. But by boo-ing the team you’re not helping at all. The spectators can be a BIG part of a team, that’s why in European soccer they’re called the 12th player. Montrealers should be SUPPORTING the tea, especially in difficult times, not rant about them, call them names, boo and ask for riots! What kind of fans are you??? Going to a game should not be like going to the cinema, you should be part of the game, try to make your team win by chanting and poitive support, and you can’t do that by acting like morons and be negative. Watch an Italian or English soccer game on TV if you don’t know what I’m talking about. Visiting teams should be afraid of coming to Montreal not only because of the Habs but also because of the spectators. Free-agents should wanna sign with the Habs because of the full-support of the team by the spectators!! All this negativity is hurting the team, not only now but also in the future!
March 17th, 2007 at 7:40 pm
It’s about time Bouillon actually did something worthwhile instead of giving the puck away all the time, that was a great fight, although I can hear Don Cherry **** all over Bouillon over the visor…
What the phoque? What the hell did Souray get a roughing for?
I think Carbo should see with Bouilly in the box, the power play should be a plus cause he ain’t gonna be working with Dandy to give it away….
“Halak has a strange stanch”…honestly Bob Cole!
These Toronto types are such idiots!
Geesus H Phoquen Chreist!!!!
There Dandenault again, every time Montreal gets scored on he’s either giving the puck away or passing it away!
March 17th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
Dandenault and Bouillon must go! If Kovalev and Samsonov are cancer then hey, Dandenault and Bouillon are the friggen heart attack! I have never seen such a pathetic duo as that!
At least Koivu was trying hard, mostly because he is pumped from having HNIC do a story about his foundation…geeze Sakku, does that mean cause no other millionaires give you money that you have to go out and get stupid penalties?
We are in a real bind, we have no good goalies. We have pathetic defense and our offense answer is mighty mouse! What the hell kind of team is this? Then you got so called defensive expert Johnson, when he is not crawling or falling, or giving the puck away, just what did we get Johnson for?
March 17th, 2007 at 8:27 pm
Holy ****! You can really see that thousand yard stare in Kovalev’s eyes! He is playing on borrowed time. He probably knows his career is finished. Let’s hope he retires before he gets hurt badly.
It looks like he is playing like his life depends on it, but more like he’s been told these are his last few games ever….
Streit and Ninnima suck big time, then when you have the other pathetic line of Dandenault and Bouillon that is the kiss of death! But not tonite, Bouillon musta been warned, either play the goon or you are off the team…..it’s about time Montreal got a penalty that was not a stupid hooking penalty…and Koivu is definitely pumped though. Gee maybe we should ask HNIC to do a story on him every time they broadcast a Montreal game….
Tucker is on Montreal’s **** list, it is good to see them hit him big time. If only to punish Bob Cole and Don Cherry!
March 17th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
Well, here comes a Hab nemesis, the dreaded third period.Lafs are going to crank it up,I hope Halak’s got some lucky irish in him,he’s going to need it.This would be the perfect time for Kovalev to redeem himself for a **** year”Fat chance!” Higgy and Ryder, its your turn dudes, step it up!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
“Bouillon gets in and makes a Dandy move….” Joshtm is gonna love that
March 17th, 2007 at 9:19 pm
Phoquen Ninnima! Toronto should just ask Bettman to change the rules, at this rate Dandenault, Bouillon and Ninnima would have the most assists in the NHL!
Montreal got sucked in by Antropov! Souray shoulda dropped his gloves and dealt with Antropov! That is why we needed Laraques, but did Gainey get him? No. Did Gainey get a better back up goalie from Toronto? No.
We are gonna get spooked by not doing anything during the trade deadline and get stuck signing maybe an even bigger mistake than Samsonov in the summer. Someone should force Gainey to take six months off beginning now, and then we’ll get business taken care of….
March 17th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Tucker is on the Hab Sh_t list… I’m not sorry he got a bloody nose after Sundin high-sticked Halak…
The boys need to step it up for the rest of period… This is no time to sit back and play defensive hockey…
GO HABS GO!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:25 pm
Streit is a pilon…
March 17th, 2007 at 9:29 pm
Montreal is not playing like they want to get into the playoffs. Streit is ****! And Ninnima shoulda been benched yet again. Honestly if Dandenault and Bouillon and Ninnima could get assists from giving the puck away, they would lead the league!
Kubina has all by himself literally shut Montreal down. No one is paying Sundin back, he keeps on poking Halak!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Send bouily after him… then they would both be done…
March 17th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
Where the phoque is Bouillon and how come Antropov can outmuscle and blitz Halak? Or Dandenault? Having this combo all but invites the other team to come into Montreal’s zone and own it!
Dandenault and Bouillon are playing their usual crappy selves.
We need someone to shut down Antropov!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Alright the islanders lost. Now all Ryder needs to do is get that shot back! Montreal stands a chance!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
AMAZING!!!!
ON TUCKER OF ALL ********!!! IN YOUR FACE BOB COLE!! iN YOUR FACE!!!!
March 17th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
K-tits!!!!! Nice goal buddy… And Halak, came HUGE tonight! A much needed point!!! CBC can laff the laffs all the way back to TO!!!!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:01 pm
Do not forget Saku out Joshtm. The hardest working hab in Hockey town!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:01 pm
WE HAVE A GOALIE , OH YEAH BABY,BRING ON Boston,Me thinks we playoff bound boy’s, ooooh yeahhhh!!!!!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:05 pm
You forget one thing, the habs were on their way to a sure seventh place finish to the season, but what did Sakku have to do? Go on a hooking penalty binge, over a twenty game period he single handedly took the habs from a fifth place spot down to where we are, basically fighting for a spot. That is the Sakku I remember, sure he won it for us tonite, but he lost it for us the second half of the season! Look it up in the stats buddy…..
But hey, it was a hell of a game! The third period sucked big time, Montreal doesn’t know how to play a whole game!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
Hey Frank, did you like that you mofo, ha ha ha ha HA HA !!!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:09 pm
Carbo just proved that he is truly an idiot.
Kovalev faked a sickness. He was invisible tonight. And our Wonder coach Carbo puts that **** head in the shootout.
That shows that he nas not got a clue.
March 17th, 2007 at 10:14 pm
Where did the team go in the 3rd? A couple feeble tries in OT, this was a team playing for the shootout, since they went up 2-1. Don’t we want to get 2 pts, and have the leafs get none? That’s what winning in regulation would have done, denied the leafs a point. Don’t these guys realize that every point gained or not gained makes a difference in these playoff battles? If the leafs get in by one point, and we’re out, we can point to this terrible 3rd period as why.
I think it was my imagination, but Kovalev actually looked like he was trying out there tonight. Wait, head is spinning from the beers…
Kostitsyn looked speedy out there tonight, even threw a couple of hits. Hope he stays with the big team. Halak returned, and played well. If Aebischer was in, we’d have lost 8-2.
March 17th, 2007 at 10:14 pm
What you call me willis? we won the game ,for real Dalley1 tabernac, for real !!!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
JOshtm,
Koivu - Top point getter for the Habs is not that bad of a stat either, best Shoot out Artist, and hardest working Hab! He’s the most Dynamic player with the puck… (Kovy would be if he did not hold it too long) Yet Koivu, if he had the size of Latendresse or Kovy, with his ability and vision would probably be a super star. Yes he’s taken a few dumb emotional penaties but beating the Leafs helps me overlook the fact that everyone has slumped along with him…
March 17th, 2007 at 10:22 pm
Dalley1,don’t screw my mood of winning ,you crazy bearded Newfoundlander or I make you practice goalie with no jock strap for Souray,eh!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:25 pm
Gainey needs to call up either Milroy or Grabby, or both of them. Even Chipchura. Antropov showed that Montreal is lacking. Nothing but respect to those who love little Saku, but hey he was outmuscled and basically shut down, granted he scored but hey, a shut down is a shut down. It made the game harder and cost Montreal a lead, a win, and gave Toronto a point.
Hey Guy, Hamilton needs a coach, maybe you could do better in the minors, they are more forgiving of coaches who change lines as often as heck there are seconds in a minute…..
Thanks to playing and keeping and not benching Dandenault and Bouillon we have lost a significant lead from post christmas, and not benching Sakku when he went on a hooking penalty binge, that is unoforgiveable….
Maybe at least Carbo will get to keep a new record: the worst ever Habs coach!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
Sorry everyone, but I have to agree with Joshtm on Koivu… He’s had some bad games and blind faith in our Captain is not going to win games… He needs to be held to task for his stupid penalties… Sure everyone has bad games, but Saku has had a bunch. I think the rest of the season will determine whether or not he truly deserves to come back with the C next season… If he can lead the team as a true leader, he belongs… If he continues to take stupid, selfish penalties, then maybe its time to package him with a few other no-shows and get some decent talent back for it.
March 17th, 2007 at 10:34 pm
I am glad Halak got another chance… the kid pretty much single-handedly won this game. We should praise him when he does good because people sure the hell crusified him when he didn’t do so well. But seems to be the norm for a few hab die hards!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
Nice third period Habs, what desire! Thank God for the Czech Steve Penney playing solid and Captain Koivu to the rescue… Darcy ‘Sideshow Bob’ Tucker’s the baby that cries wolf, Bouillon hammers the **** out of him all night. Bye Leafs, fade to black. Sweet!
*SARCASM ALERT* Gotta thank the Bruins for beating the Rangers for us, what the hell? Lost by a touchdown! Hopefully they roll over like this for the three games against the Habs in the next couple of weeks!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
Hey now, there will be no derogatory comments towards da NewFs, Or I’ll actually enter the internet come thru the computer and kick ur Arse, Aright Bye!!
Anywhos, Good Game on the Rooks tonight and Koivu broke that slump, GG all and damn, anyone know where i can get Lee Press on nails, I seem to have bitten my fingernails off completely.
March 17th, 2007 at 10:43 pm
I knew it,that TRON movie is real,estee.
March 17th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
The problem for Montreal is a lack of defense and an offense that doesn’t step up, which means it doesn’t matter if you are the AHL’s best goalie, in the NHL with a team that has no defense to speak of, and which basically helps the other team score on you (aka Ninnima and Dandenault and Bouillon’s assist tonite) hey, its a trial by fire!
We could get the world’s best living goalie, and hey, guess what, Dandenault and Bouillon would make sure they get the same goals against percentage as Huet, Abby and now Halak. Throw in Ninnima and Johnson, and hey, guess what, you would lose your confidence!
I too am glad Halak got his chance back, and the sad part is when Huet gets healthy, Huet will make sure we don’t get into the playoffs! Cause by then knowing Carbo and Gainey, they wouldn’t bench Abby to keep Halak!
I still say bring up Chipchura, Grabby and Milroy! Its too bad Gainey and Carbo have to basically read a million of my posts just to find out its worthwhile!
Guy and Carbo, bring up Chipchura, Grabby and Milroy!
bring up Chipchura, Grabby and Milroy!
bring up Chipchura, Grabby and Milroy!
bring up Chipchura, Grabby and Milroy!
bring up Chipchura, Grabby and Milroy!
bring up Chipchura, Grabby and Milroy!
I can’t say it enough!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
What’s going on with Kovalev? Every time he had the puck,(not many times) he kept falling down. What a wasted body. I don’t want to see his invisible *** playing another game the rest of the season! Why does he bother suiting up?
Another moronic mistake by Carbo! Now Carbo, you idiot, don’t you wish you had played Halak last night? WE WOULD HAVE WON THE GAME IF IT WEREN’T FOR CARBO’S BRAIN DEAD REASONING! And if Halak isn’t allowed to play all the remaining games until Huet returns, I won’t watch anymore!
I heard that Huet could be playing in a week. But considering there is only 3 weeks left, no room for error. We can’t lose more than 1 game!
March 17th, 2007 at 10:57 pm
Koivu may not have size but in no way was he shut-down… he had many great opportunities. He was compared to Sudin (Mr. Ed horse teeth) and out shot, led in puck possession, and is a better defensive player.
He leads the Habs in a lot of catigories (heart and hustle) what we need in a caption.
If we can find another stong forward that can skate (lecaviller) you’ll see a change in the habs Offense.
We are in need of one more strong D-Man also (seabrook).
Oh yeah, One consistant goalie with the stamina for more than a game.
Point is the team is young and maybe players are not at their full potential and we need a few tools to add and develop. (Latendresse, Kostitsyn,Higgins, ect) Its hard to wait but I envision it happening. Last week a misted the 4 game losing streak, I had a hard time evisioning it, but now that the habs are showing life I believe!
March 17th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
Too bad we can’t afford to lose Halak, yet we can’t also afford to gamble on Abby, or Huet, but hey, if we are gonna gamble, play Leighton before Huet, bench Huet and Abby…
Between Koivu’s busy body do nothing, what good is it to be a team leader in many categories if the team is not following you? It is called a team after all.
Koivu has lost the team a long time ago and he belongs on another NHL team that can use him. Montreal doesn’t have size enough to take advantage of Koivu!
March 17th, 2007 at 11:11 pm
Well. I call a spade a spade. I got egg on my face.
I said that before, cause I am mad, upset, fustrated etc. I am glad that our Habs won. But the last game should have been won as well. Carbo knows deep down inside that Abbyshit is useless in net as a *** on a bull. He thinks that he has to put him Abbyshit in net because he gets the big bucks???
Halak should get the start for the rest of the year. But you wait and see Coach Wonder will put Abbyshit in net again because he has experience. In what? Leting soft goals go in.
In those games that Halak lost, a few goals were put in by his own D-men just like the second goal for the Laffs tonite.
Does anyone agree with me Damnit.
AND you people stop making fun of Newfies……….
March 17th, 2007 at 11:15 pm
What are you guys ROBOTS? When and if Halak has a bad game you’ll be call for his head. When the young guys don’t produce its Carbo or Gainey. Do you work for the LaPresse? Bringing all the Hamilton Guys is not going to bring us the cup… Ther is NO one is of a Crosby caliber and going to make a huge impact at this point.
March 17th, 2007 at 11:21 pm
coutNY_HabsFan: It is no good for the players to show life if the Goalie is dead.
Joshtm: You said “Koivu’s busy body do nothing”. He won the game tonite brother.
March 17th, 2007 at 11:23 pm
Guess what Saku never brought us a cup neither! Yes we are robots, garbage in and garbage out, at least we are not taken to the cleaners by some Finnish mighty might who is a one man team! A one-man team! Notice there are four others on the ice…hello, and the other team has Saku’s number…all they have to do is send a goon like Antropov and guess what, little Saku brings out the hook! And the one-man team sits in the P-Box and costs the Habs yet another season without decent playoff chances! Since when has Sakku ever saw a Stanley Cup game? Excuse me, I am waiting….
I am waiting….
still waiting…..
So what is so good about Saku again?

THe FL Panthers smoked the Islanders! We are making some headway!
NOTE: I was PROUD of our boy Murray Wilson CBC ANALYST Hab FAN! He shutdown those Leaf crownies at every argument! Even flying solo against them!

CoutNY_HabsFan;
I never once bashed Halak this year! Of all the games that he lost, it was mostly (not all) because of Montreal’s ****** defense. The D-men scored and gave away just as many goals on Halak than the other team did. If Halak had good D-men infront of him he may have lost maybe two games at the most.
When Montreal does not make the playoffs it is because of Coach Wonder.
That’s it.

Actually Dalley, Halak won the game. Saku got a goal, and helped in the shootout, for once Saku actually earned his huge gazillion dollar salary. That leaves him owing a lot, this other rookie who is new to the team and hasn’t played in a lot of games has more goals, but hey, he doesn’t have the equivalent of one whole period or game in the penalty box because of hooking penalties…..
The point is, if the habs are ever gonna have a decent run at the cup, they need to unload their biggest liability, a small Finnish fellow who has prima donna hooking penalties cause he’s too small to outmuscle so he plays dirty….
A more solid future with guaranteed wins, not guaranteed loses because the captain is giving hooking lessons to the rookies and not providing the right example…the habs pride themselves for not being a fighting team, that is not dropping the gloves, but they should be ashamed for having the worst hooking penalty stat, or one of the worst, and guess who has the bulk of the hooking penalties? Saku…..yup.
We need to solve the duo of Dandenault and Bouillon….either get rid of them or limit their ice time…

Guess what, Ryder is a newf and he is one of the best habs when he wants to score…Ryder has won us quite a few games, just like little Saku when he wants to not get penalties….luck of the Irish! That’s what won us the game, he didn’t score, but hey, he took part and was the Irish part we needed to win! There, its been said.

Dandenault was playing forward in this game and Boullion was playing with Josh Georges.
And TSN has finally done something that I like, and that’s give a cool nickname to Kotstitsyn: Andrei the Giant.
It’s good to see him, Halak and Georges making the most out of their oppurtunities to impress the brass for next season. With Sammy heading out his spot will be Andrei’s to lose and it looks like he wants to hang on to it.

But somehow they still managed to play a part in the Habs losing their lead…in fact on almost every goal against except for the shootout where thank God Bouilly or Dandy can’t go near the net to either help pass the puck away, or basically screen the goalie…I still can’t see what Carbo and Gainey see in them?

I wonder if Kostityn is going to act like Kovalev(you kmow, not showing up for alot of games). He has the same style as Kovalev, and of course he has the russian mentality. we’ll see. but he is talented, and still learning.
Ryder tonight was a disaster. How does he miss so many open nets?
Anyways, looks like Halak again on Tuesday and Thursday vs Bruins. we need to take 3 out of those 4 points. Remember, NYR, leafs, and NYI all have 1 game in hand. NYI have 2 in hand. I have a sneaky feeling that NYI won’t make the playoffs because they have a tough schedule.

Dandenault isn’t being paid that much and is a stopgap until Yemelin, Valentenko, Carle and Fischer(who according to hockeysfuture.com is a real project and is going to take awhile) are ready to go. And he’s a utility guy. He can play forward or defence.
And who else to you see on the team that brings the hitting ability and nastyness that Boullion brings besides Komisarek? Do you see anyone else dropping the gloves with that coward Tucker and giving him a lesson(TSN said it was a draw, I say bullshit. The only quality puch Tucker got in was when the linesmen had steped in and Boullion had relaxed. What a ******* coward.)?
And Boullion was +2 which means he wasn’t on the ice for a single T.O. goal, but he was on the ice for both Habs goals? He had a fantastic game. He’s only starting to get back into form after his knee surgery.

Ryder is still one of the best on that team.
Newfies rule dude…..

Not to worry, Gainey is gonna make sure he can’t sign Kosty, cause he’s gonna be busy paying raises to Saku and Kovalev as retirement packages, yes we are in for another year of Koivu, Kovalev, samsonov, ninnima, johnson, dandenault and bouillon, and we’ll lose the rookies cause there’s gonna be no money left over to keep the, say good bye to Kosty, Halak, Lapierre, maybe even Lat…maybe not Lat, but because Gainey doesn’t wanna take chances, he is gonna end up having to give up the future….

GOOD NITE Y’ALL.
I WILL TALK SOME MORE SMACK TOMORROW….LOL…..
March 18th, 2007 at 2:42 am
Boullion played his best game as a Hab tonight. Even Joshtm has to get on his knees for that performance.
Good ole Joshy boy. Even critical over a good win. ITs nights like this you are supposed to celebrate not squabble. You must be one miserable dude.
FOr the winners on this board, enjoy this one. ITs hould just get better as this week goes on.

IMO, if I was going to try and salvage whatever I can from ‘deadwood’…I know I have to display my goods. I’m hoping that is the reason for Aebs & Kovalev’s ice time. In other words, if their wish is to get value for them let’s say, draft time, then someone has to envisage what these players can do on their team. It’s a double edged sword but if it’s a given that this year’s over, then you’ve got to go for it. Let this bunch prove itself for another team…maybe it’s a lost cause but if getting the most for them is important than they have to prove it.
In yesterday’s game, I watched the third period. They basically kept dumping the puck out. A habs player would have control of the puck and they would find a way to give it right back to the Leafs. They didn’t look to set each other up. Y’know other teams make short passes to each other, drop pass, criss cross and screw up the other team’s defense…y’know earn their keep. Here, it’s not like that. It’s garbage (no offense!). the odd rush in to put pressure and then back to the garbage. It’s like as if they don’t know how to put constant pressure on the other team. Normally, this starts with speed and hitting and back checking and using short shifts and constantly getting guys in the other team’s face…Basically getting involved. This new concept that the Canadiens have used now for almost four months, y’know saving money on cleaning the jerseys, y’know basically take off the jersey and fold it and put it back on the shelf because it’s good to go for the next game - heck there’s no sweat and Gillett’s probably considering removing the staff since they’re not needed. Maybe having the players lug around their equipment might send a message to these pathetic loafers.
It’s like the players have shut out the coaching staff and everyone’s doing they’re own thing. It’s like the left hand doesn’t know what to expect from each other concept.
Now the defence is at best…weak. We back up way too much and we don’t hold the fort very well. The positional play is at best suspect. We used to have this down pat early in the season. This was the strong point which was to shut down the other team and when it did break down Huet & Aebischer too made the saves. Which left those few breaks they were getting, short hand goals, late goals, shootout winners, last second goals, power play goals, etc..was enough to get them the win. Now, everything is off kilter, it’s using two left feet or no one knows what the other’s going to do. One defenseman gets the puck off a rebound and he shoots it to a Leaf player. Another gets the puck behind the net and shoots it around the boards behind the net and who gets it…a Leaf forward. A Habs player gets the puck in the neutral zone and they reach the blue line and they dump the puck in or the centre line and dump it in. What gives…where’s the attack….they give the puck to other team for another wave or attack against. You’ve got to figure that not only are you not getting shots on net but your odds are against you that eventually the other team’s going to score.
I think, Raycroft could have gone to the bench for about 10-12 minutes of that third period. And this has been the case for the last four months….
Where are those boxing gloves…let the coaches put them on and pop these brainless players when they earn it….If not for anything else, give these coaches something to do because they can’t be coaching or it’s ineffective and this way Gillette can at least see some kind of action!!! and getting his money’s worth….Heck I think even the fans might start enjoying seeing Kovalev and Samsonov getting smucked when the come off the ice. Can you see it, the fans yelling give him another one…Yeah what a bum, Muller double crank on Souray for knocking Huet over or Janne ‘good pass to nobobdy’ or Streit being completely useless, or Bouillon deflecting the puck into the net - here’s a left hookR
