Asking that your team shows up every night doesn't seem like too much to ask, but welcome to the modern world of professional sports, sadly. These guys play for their salaries, themselves, and not the fans. They are corrupted by the politics of professional sports (see Ryan Smyth). If loyality isn't extinct yet, it's on the endangered list, a thanks wholly to the business that taints the game(s) we love with shit.

I'm quite sure that fans in Carolina, Tampa, Toronto, Edmonton, etc are feeling the same feelings with regard to their respective teams' inconsistencies.

That being said, it does grow tiresome watching a team fall short year after year. But hey, at least us Habs fans haven't been waiting for 40 years or more for our team to do something worthy of celebration. Not yet anyway. It could be a lot worse. When you think about it, 1993 can be considered recent in the scheme of things.

It's not about 1 game. look at the big picture. I'm not going to be redundent in my views about habs not showing up, or lack of effort or emotion. You know where I stand, and you also know that changes are needed in the offseason to improve habs defence, and scoring. It will take time, and I fully realize that.
All I ask, is that this team be competitive, and compete every night. That's a very reasonable request. right? I share other hab fans in wanting our team to do well. If it happens, so be it, and if it doesn't, well there's always next year. Either way, it will be a long summer for hab fans. I sincerely hope that Gainey can get this team pointed in the wrong direction. I don't expect much from this team, only to show up!

That's 'certainly not going to ruin my life...'

Also, let's see how the admirable blue and white soldiers do against the Crosby, Malkin and Staal show tonight... co-starring Roberts and Fleury.

First of all, the Maple Leafs do NOT always show up for their games. Hence their present struggle to get into eighth spot - a spot currently occupied by the Habs - in their final five games.

Secondly, what an emotional rollercoaster ride this ongoing commentary makes. My goodness. I'm frustrated that the Habs have been a bipolar team this season, yes. I'm also disappointed in their seemingly care free attitude toward success at times, yes. But it's certainly to going to ruin my life in any way, or to a less extreme, send me jumping off the bandwagon. Some fans need to relax and enjoy this ride down the final stretch, in my opinion.

Incidentally, I wonder how the comments will read if the Habs beat Buffalo tonight... a team they've played quite well against, and have suffered a couple of unnecessary losses to due entirely to shaky goaltending.

Does being loyal mean that whatever garbage is displayed escially while losing that I'm to say yup that's my team!!

If so, that's what makes me a Maple Leaf fan!!!

Garbage is garbage, and this version of the Habs has displayed this throughout the seond 2/3 mark of the season. When there's a win we celebrate but when you do it because of luck or poor play by the other team...that win is simply hiding the wreckless play that eventually's going to bite you. Here in this saga there are way too many faults that no one can pick one area and only one area for improvement. There are just so many holes....

The biggest problem is energy and putting in the effort!!! This is a gimme or it should be. When we don't get it, guess what we deserve better! Especially our glorified jersey, it commands that discipline with the expectation to win. No where is just being average acceptable. That is Toronto Maple Leaf syndrome.

You can stomach when you see players dump in and not chase, you see a team mate get hammered and you skate away. You let your goalie fend off two players while you stride in after the play or you bend over because you're shit. Or you take stupid penalty after stupid penalty and expect to get high fives. You have control of the puck and you blanketly spray the puck to no where specificly only to get picked by the other team's players or better yet you hand it right to an opponent. Hey now that's a winner! Let's sign him up please. what're we waiting for!!!

No way smuck...That's a Leaf for you. And the great "Wait till next year mantra" from the Maple Leaf fans. No thanks!!! When the Canadiens start with these Habits it's time for big changes. Find the core that's willing to put in the effort on every shift and the morons that don't need to sit out. Or be moved on. Bring up whomever is going to put in that effort. Being loyal has it rewards, we cheer and celebrate all our wins and losses too but when the effort's there otherwise you may as well be wearing Blue and white.

Let's get the spirited bunch of guys that want to win...I'll wish the team take on the Cinderella story for 2006-07 but that means they have to be willing to put forth that extra effort. Come on, just four more games...and then, just maybe, we go to the dance!!! Go Habs Go!!

THE WORST FANS ARE: those who are in self denial
those who refuse to see the truth
those who gave their team praise, even when the team shows NO EFFORT and no HEART
those who criticize other fans, who would rather see reality, than false hopes and mirages
those who insult and denigrate others for being honest and giving constructive criticism
Live and learn people, and look at the facts and the product on the ice.
the habs are a bunch of over paid, underachieving athletes, who care less about you and me, and the playoffs. The almighty $$ is more impoortant to them.
Even if we plead for them to play 60 minutes,it goes in 1 ear, and out the other. They are mutes to our pleas. Golf is their important game, and money the same!

You know people, there are some of you on this site who are right that we should not make fun of the Leafs because IT IS TRUE that the Leafs SHOW UP for every game and they at least show heart, something Montreal rarely, if ever does. They never show any heart in any game and if they want to make the playoffs, they need to start showing some heart in these important games. They need to wake up and not fall behind 2-0 in every game. Just because they fell behind Boston and New York by two goals does not mean they will come from behind in every game. They should not expect to come from 2 goals behind in every game and win it every time. I want Montreal to show some heart and play with more emotion in BIG GAMES, something the Leafs do a lot and Montreal never does!
