Finshing anywhere from 6th-11th is possible, every point more important than the last.

- Senet1 : I agree, Carey needs to get some starts if they leave him out much longer he will be ineffective in the Playoffs, I really thought it was time to play him against TO but coach chose otherwise. Halak is not used to playing so many games in a row, whereas North Am. goalies are.
- goalie : Though I have supported Halak a lot this year, the decision was to keep both goalies. So, I really hope that Carey too is playing well going into the playoffs, that we make the playoffs and both goalies are at the top of their game. Put Carey in for the next few games and see how he plays!
- Senet1 : bigger that he covers more of the net. Being bigger price tends to loose the puck in his feet, most tall goalies have that problem. But is is one that more experience helps them improve on that weakness. With two more years of development Price is still the goalie of the future, if not the present.
- Senet1 : Well the more HALAK plays the more other teams will find his weaknesses and if he does not improve on those weakness he will not be as affective in a long run. I have notived that last three games that the goals scored on him many of the shooters are going high on him. Being a smaller goalie he is more vulnerable. Don't be surprised if Halak only onl makes it part way through a playoff series and then Price will be back in net. Price weakness is also high shots but he is so much bigger that h
- Senet1 : I have to admit I am over joyed at no ndgatives coming out of this game. One thing I could not figure out, when Gomez and Gionta saw AK46 deek the TO goalie and go 5 hole why they didn't try the same thing is beyond me. That is obviously his weakness. Goalie I am concerned about that too , only good part about it there aRE NO SHOOTOUTS IN THE PLAYOFFS.
- goalie : I am more than a little concerned that the Lafs exposed Halak's inability to stop a player who dekes to Halak's glove hand side. He played those dekes very poorly.
- rocky : The leafs played a strong game and have some pretty deadly shootout threats. We did not lose anyone to injury and that game could have went either way. Now how is that for a positive spin on things eh?
- rocky : I hate to admit this, but I think Andrei Kostitsyn is poised to break his slump. He still skates like a turd, but I just have a feeling. If we get out of this game with no major injuries to key players I will be happy win or lose.
- Senet1 : Mst's I think if they can sign Markov to an extension then they can make move on some of the other defenceman before they become UFA. Hammer is a prime example and likewise so is Gil. Somehow I feel that there is something wrong with a one year contract like Mara's where he can be paid for not playing due to injury and then the team pays his bills and he can leave and go UFA without making up the salary. To me a contract should force a player to play a minimum of 50 games or healthy scatches
- Senet1 : Jagr is a strange player, lots of talent but he has lost his heart and all it is about is money. Edmonton would be better off using the money elsewhere.
- goalie : Rumor has it that the Oilers will be signing Jaromir Jagr to a very $$$$ 3 year contract. Makes sense because Jagr doesn't really want to play on a team that is a contender....so Oilers are a good possibility.
- goalie : I agree with Senet. Plex has been our best player this year. He hasn't been hurt for any long periods and he has done the job. He deserves to be our highest paid player. I sure hope that Markov rebounds next year. I find the Russian players very hard to read as to how they like it on a team and what their plans are going to be.
- Senet1 : To me it is hard not to pay Plex at least Cammy's money. He won't score as many goals but game in and game out Plex has been there and really, he has stayed healthy????
- Mats Naslund : Kesler $5m for 6 years.. 1 point seperates him and Plex in the standings.. Pretty good benchmark?
- Mats Naslund : I guess La presse is reporting that PG is talking extension with Markov's people.
- Mats Naslund : Boston and NY did us a huge solid last night by blowing it. 1 point out of 5th with 11 games to go.
- Mats Naslund : Might be a little sneaky, but what if we made Markov the captain - he would have a hard time leaving as a UFA. Hammrlik's $$ is Markov's in a year. We'll have the $$ to sign him and another UFA. I think I also like BUF in the first round although Miller scares the bajezus out of me. NJ after that.
- Senet1 : may lose him to UFA?? We make up the cap space with Laraque's salary, and the trade of one of are large defenceman salaries.
- Senet1 : There are four contracts that are a must for our GM needs to get done. Plek we need to give him a raise say $5.5M Our two goalies each in the neighbourhood $3M but perhaps the more important contract is Markov's he is not a UFA this year but if we agreed to renegoitate his contract a year earlier for say a raise to $6M next year and $7M for two more years then we may be able to get hims signed for at least 3 or 4 more years. If we let his contract expire and he become a UFA in 2011 then we may
- Senet1 : In fact I knew that I had to play washington, I would rather take them out in the first round.
- Senet1 : Well the one thing that does not matter is our record against any of these teams during the season. This is a much different team than the one we saw play during the majority of the season. Secondly, if I was going to pick a team to play it would be one with weaker goaltending. Right now if I had to pick it would either be Pittsburg or NJ although Washington can be had if Theodore does not play above his head. I believe that any team that can score 4 goals a game has a chance to beat Washing
- goalie : NJ would be my second choice followed by Pens OR Caps - don't think it much matters. No easy pickings Habs!
- goalie : Well the good news is that we're playing much better now than at times during the year. The Habs MUST play their bestagainst ANY of these teams to have a chance. We lost three staraight to the Pens, the Caps scare me because they have talent, NJ have improved greatly but we have played well vs them. I think we only beat Buf once but all but one game was very close. I guess I'd take my chances vs ther Sabres as I think our style matches up well against them.If we could beat Miller we could win.
- Mats Naslund : Unless we see a miracle, MON will be a 5-8 seed. So who between WAS, PIT, BUF, or NJ do you want in the 1st round?
- Mats Naslund : Metro is 35. I cant see them giving more than 1yr. He definitely deserves a spot next year though.
- Avatar37 : Senet - I agree, Metropolit is impressive and Metro and Moen always seem to come up clutch. I really hope they sign him to a 3-4 year deal.
- goalie : Isn't it a lot more interesting and fun when our team is playing well and on a run!
- Senet1 : So we have a good third line the fourth line is playing responsible hockey and the first line is generating offense as well as controling the play. Plek is playing hard and still managing to get a goal here and there so if Cammy can get back maybe we have four solid lines. Right now Martin is rolling the four lines well and I think we are tiring out the other teams.
- Senet1 : I also am impressed with our fourth line Metro, Lapierre and Darche. They are playing some productive minutes killing time and tieing up the other team in their zone.
- Senet1 : This line sort of reminds me of the Gainey line, they always scored the big goals in tight games. Believe it or not when the game was tied 1-1 I thought is is about time our third line got a goal and a few minutes later they did. It is become a regular thing this line.
- rocky : Moore brings great puck possession in the offensive zone and Segie can finish plays. Nice to watch, they are smoking third lines on other teams right now.
- Senet1 : I agree his brother is working out really well with Moore and Moan. They have offensive abilities and at the same time are very responsible defensively.
- rocky : He has talent you know, but just no intensity or desire for hockey at this stage. He should watch his brother right now and do his best to emulate him.
- rocky : That would s*ck. They should sit his ass.
- Senet1 : Yea I agree, because if not either Pyatt or Darche will be sent back down maybe both?

Tonight will be their toughest challenge of the remaining four, obviously. If they come out with a determination to win, match the Sabres speed and skill, and get solid goaltending, they’ll prevail. Anything short of that might put them in big trouble in a hurry.
March 31, 2007 am31 5:34 pm
Lately the Habs have started like an old engine in the throes of winter. No matter how well they match up against the Sabres (and they do), giving up two early goals would seal their fate. The same goes for too many penalties.
I’m looking for an inspired start leading to a tie game going into the third. Then get ready for some nail-biting action. I predict an OT loss tonight, but crossing my fingers for an all-out win. With the game at home, hopefully my prediction will prove to be pessimistic!
GO HABS GO!!!!!!
March 31, 2007 am31 6:10 pm
If they start the game like they have been, this game is already over. Buffalo can roll four fast lines that can all hurt you. It would be nice to see a team wide 60 minute effort tonight, but there doesn’t seem to be much reason to hope for that, given their track record. They seem to not even try until the first is over. If they play that way tonight…
I also really hope that Abeischer isn’t thrown in there tonight, or it won’t matter how we play. That sieve will have a hard time earning a contract this off season, won’t he?
Pittsburgh should smoke the leafs tonight. They’ve whupped ‘em a couple of times this year, and Crosby almost seems to have a hate on for the leafs. Crosby and co., on a national stage, should give us some much needed standings relief. So it’s up to you, guys. Win, and it’ll go a long way in our playoff hunt, cause the leafs aren’t likely to.
March 31, 2007 am31 6:14 pm
Good. Hockeycentral just reported that Halak is in. I’m breathin’ a sigh of relief…
March 31, 2007 am31 6:46 pm
The Habs have to get these points as the Leafs’s schedule becomes comparatively easier after tonight’s game. It could be said that the Rangers are no walk in the park, but I think that Toronto can and will likely beat them. Though I’m hoping that they don’t of course.
Go Habs! Secure a playoff spot and send the Leafs to the golf course early for the second consecutive season.

Come on, guys. I’m stuck watching the Leafs and Penguins as I’m in Toronto, but two shots on goal??? That’s Conklin in there! It’s practically a gift from the Sabres! Blow him out!
March 31, 2007 am31 8:48 pm
I had to laugh, the habs played great when Dandenault was in the p-box. Note to Gainey: watch the replay on the goal after Dandenault went back on the ice after his penalty! Granted it was a killer for Halak, and that was a classic hit the puck outa the air, but hey, it is time to include Dandenault on the not to resign at the end of his contract year along with Abby!
Once again Pleks and Bonk are the heart of the team. And the rookies just make them look good. They even made Johnson look good, for once Johnson was in the right places at the right time, Gainey musta spiked his booze with Viagra or something….
I hope that Kovalev manages to shut them down in the third. Oh no, its the killer period for the habs, the third period. Dear God, please don’t let Koivu get a stupid penalty!
Just when the Rangers and the Laffs are trying their hardest to kick Montreal into the cellar again, if I were Carbo, I would bench Dandenault for the third period. What the hell is this of not playing Gorges!
March 31, 2007 am31 9:33 pm
I can’t believe this, Montreal has to learn how to clear the puck out of their own end. This is too scary, I can’t see why Carbo would play Dandenault in the dying seconds!
March 31, 2007 am31 9:34 pm
Back in the saddle ,again !!! Go Habs!!!!!
March 31, 2007 am31 9:36 pm
Hooray, we put in a nail to end Toronto’s season! Hooray! Take that Bob Cole, Take that Don Cherry, you ******** in the Toronto Media!
March 31, 2007 am31 9:41 pm
Big win tonight. TO game is going to ot in a min. Let’s hope Crosby gets it done, and get some help from the rangers tomorrow too.
March 31, 2007 am31 9:42 pm
Halak let in 2 soft goals. Bring on HUET, PLEASE!
March 31, 2007 am31 9:42 pm
Another fortunate night for Toronto. Terribault started in goal for Pittsburgh and gave up 4 fairly quickly. He was replaced with Fleury, who has stopped everything.
They’re going to overtime…
March 31, 2007 am31 9:46 pm
Yeah, it’s delayed cause some one’s doin’ the chicken in the audience. They blew a huge lead, and apparently, one of their fans choked too…
March 31, 2007 am31 9:48 pm
or had a heart attack, dying of shame…they said he had to be resusitated right there…
March 31, 2007 am31 9:52 pm
Here’s hoping Crosby puts TO to bed for ever, actually mathematically now, there is no way for TO to come back, take that again Bob Cole and Don Cherry! Maybe we can see some more black and white reruns of the last time the laffs won the cup! HAHAHAHAAA!!
March 31, 2007 am31 9:52 pm
It disgusts me that the leafs were on all the early games on CBC, except the one that carried the Ottawa game. There is a CBC montreal. Are we not also in a playoff race? What arrogance. That males 2 weeks in a row that they have pre-empted the habs game to show EVERYONE the leafs. I had to watch the game on RDS, cause I’ll be damned if I listen to that sack of sh_t commentator from buffalo.
March 31, 2007 am31 9:53 pm
Even if they lose, they aren’t mathematically eliminated. and they just won…
March 31, 2007 am31 9:54 pm
srry, “makes” 2 weeks in a row (18)
March 31, 2007 am31 10:01 pm
Well, many were in agreement that a split this weekend would be a success, and that’s exactly what they got. Further, both Tampa and the Rangers are still very much within reach, and the Isles are playing as if they were elminated a week ago. Another win against Boston and anything is possible.
March 31, 2007 am31 10:10 pm
Montreal needs the Leafs to lose tomorrow. Badly.
Fortunately, the Leafs, while turning their home record around as of late, winning 7 in a row there, have also turned their road record around, losing their last 6 in a row. Here’s to New York helping them continue with that trend.
A bright spot for the Habs is that the Leafs have three less wins than they have. That might prove to be the deciding factor.
As an aside, if the Flames win 3 of their remaining 5, they’ll become the twelth team to reach 100 points this season. 12th. Gotta love those three-point games.
March 31, 2007 am31 10:16 pm
The point is, on the morale front, the Habs have it now over Toronto. TO is playing hurt and at some point Kaberle or Wellwood are gonna blow a gasket again and be put on the injured reserve. And Sundin is not about to carry the team, he always buckles when the pressure gets too much.
But the scariest thing is Montreal is not bringing anyone up to face down Antropov! Nor anyone to outmuscle Shanahan, the last few games, where in the past Montreal has buckled under the goons of other teams.
March 31, 2007 am31 10:44 pm
Here’s the bottom line. habs need to beat Boston, gain at least 1 point vs Rangers, and beat Toronto in regulation. It’s not likely. Habs WILL miss the playoffs. There’s no way they’re beating both NYR and leafs Not happening!
Toronto will finish in 8th spot, 1 point ahead of habs. That will very tough for habs to finish out of the playoffs, by 1 point.! But they have nobody to blame but themselves. They will look back at that game last night against the senators. A game in which they did NOT SHOW UP, and their laziness to put in any effort has cost them being the playoffs! They will learn a lesson a very hard way.
March 31, 2007 am31 10:53 pm
If you compare Gorges against Dandenault, Gorges is by far the better. What is Carbo doing playing a d-man who almost single handedly has given Montreal a losing attitude that slid us from fifth down to where we are fighting the miserable laffs?
Granted Bouillon has been forced to ante up, I think he was told either smarten up or ship out. In fact Dandenault should be on the benching.
And the scariest part in all of this is, in one of the more crucial games, either against the Rangers or the Laffs, Carbo will pull Halak and play Huet. Huet who sucked before he got hurt, Huet who lost us along with Dandenault and Koivu’s hooking penalties a secure playoff spot.
And our vets are not consistent. Tonite Koivu was there, but where the hell was he the other night? And why are we not getting any response from Johnson? I thought we got Johnson cause he is some scoring leader at the crucial times. If there was ever a more crucial time, this is it, we need Johnson to not fall over and shoot the puck into the net! Use his size and weight and not be the falling down drunk on the ice!
March 31, 2007 am31 11:11 pm
Wow.
R habs 4 real, are you a seer? Because those are some pretty confident statements. If you are, then we (you too) might as well not bother watching the Habs final three games as we’ll aready be aware of their miserable fate… thanks to your talents.
I’ll go about as far as acknowledging that your prediction is a possiblity. That is, I’ll admit that it’s possible that the Habs will lose to both New York and Toronto, and possibly finish in 9th place. But I’ll also acknowledge the possibility that the Habs will defeat New York, Toronto or both and secure themselves a playoff spot. Because I, unlike you, do not have the ability to see into the future, let alone predict the outcomes of NHL games.
Some fans in Carolina very likely said that there was no way their Canes could lose to the Flyers. And so on.
April 1, 2007 am31 12:20 am
OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE
April 1, 2007 am31 12:24 am
I am psychic!
April 1, 2007 am31 12:25 am
I hope we beat NYR and leafs, but you have to admit, it’s unlikely!
Our road record isn’t good, and they’re fighting as hard as us.
Anyways, if leafs win tomorrow, it’s not going to happen for us.
April 1, 2007 am31 12:31 am
Now is the time we need Dipietro to play for NYI. If only they could beat NYR Tuesday and leafs Thursday, or at least 1 of those games, it would help us tremendously. Do they have any other goalie? Can we lend them Halak? I wish we could. They’re out of the race, so I’m sure they would love to beat their cross town rivals, NYR. Just a thought. We need help from some other team.
April 1, 2007 am31 12:42 am
We can only cross our fingers and hope.A ranger win tomorrow would top off the weekend nicely.
April 1, 2007 am31 12:53 am
Or, the Habs could just win their three remaining games, forcing the Leafs to go 4-0 to earn 8th place. If the Habs are confused with reggard to how to accomplish this, then they should watch the Flames and take notes.
The good news:
- The Habs have owned Boston;
- They’ve recently defeated the Rangers in an important game;
- And they’ve recently defeated the Leafs in an important game.
While I wish that they were playing more consistently, I’m not exactly without confidence that they can pull off a 3-game sweep.
Home and road records mean nothing at this time of year. Calgary had a lousy home record before winning four in a row on the road down the stretch, against VERY good teams. The Leafs have accomplished the same thing at home down the stretch.
Anyway, with regard to the thought that the Leafs are consistent, no, they’re not. I live in Toronto, I’ve seen the games, and I can tell you that they’ve got lucky on several occasions. They should’ve lost two of their recent wins. Honestly, they should have.
I guess we’ll see.
April 1, 2007 am31 1:24 am
Stupid me. If the Habs win their three remaining games, then the Leafs can’t possibly go 4-0.
April 1, 2007 am31 8:02 am
A strong effort last night. It’s what we need for the 3 rremaining games. Anything less will hand it to the hated leafs. It’s too much to ask, but it’d be nice to see a NY sweep of the leafs, where they don’t get a single point. Still, Lundqvist has played pretty well since x-mas, and maybe Dunham can squeeze one more good game out of his sieve frame. That game in hand the leafs have is looming large. So a little help would be great.
The bonus is, if we have the same # of points at season’s end, we get in based on more wins. Though I’m sure that if the pukes at CBC had their way, they’d institute a rule that says the leafs win every tie-break, regardless of wins, head-to-head records, etc. It truly makes me sick the way they pre-empted the Habs game to show the leafs. Judging by their new contract, it will continue. Which has me emptying my belly even now. Good thing I have Center Ice, or I would see maybe 15 games all year, instead of all of them…
April 1, 2007 am31 8:05 am
Also, thanks go out to Lindy Ruff and the Sabres, who obviously want to play us, and not the leafs, in the 1st round. How else do you explain starting Conklin?
April 1, 2007 am31 10:10 am
Hey Gang!!! I did not have a chance to get in here yesterday (not that anyone cares for my negative comments anyway). I was painting. No Montreal colours…LOL…
Good game last night. Living here in Toronto only the Leafs are on tv. I could only listen to the Habs on NHL.com. You will see in the future the only games will be the leafs from coast to coast. This is unfair regardless of the advertising $$$ that the leaf games bring in. Not all 33 million people in Canada are leafs fans. Does CBC know that there are other teams in Cananda besides the Leafs. The Only time that we will see Montreal is in the playoffs, which looks pretty bleek right now. If the Leafs should beat NY. today it could be all over. Yes, I know I said that before and got egg on my face but this is a reallity now. The leafs will be in 8th spot and the Habs will bumped back down into 9th again so this weekend would be a bust. See Toronto got that F_ckin one point aginst Atlanta.
As of tonight we could be out of the playoffs.
PLEASE PFOVE ME WRONG HABS……..
April 1, 2007 am31 11:50 am
Don’t worry Hab Fans,I will now put the curse of the 13 stinky Hoes on the members of the Maple Leafs,……ok its done !Now it is officially over for the extremely itchy Laffs, lol. Not only are they having hygiene problems to the point they can’t concentrate on a bowel movement, but they have a lot of explaining to do too their spouses.
April 1, 2007 am31 4:13 pm
Gentlemen I just got this hockeutraderumors
Breaking News: Sundin not playing tonight, back to Sweden!
According to several sources, Toronto Maple Leafs’ captain Mats Sundin is going back to Sweden to take care of ”important family matters”.
Still according to sources, not only will Sundin miss tonight’s game against the New York Rangers, but it is apparently questionable whether he’ll be able to be back in time for tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers as well.
No word yet on the exact reason why Sundin would be heading to Sweden but several rumors have already started to pop-up all over the web so we are asking you to keep this thread clean or else your comment will be deleted.
Tough loss for the Leafs who are in a crazy race for the 8th and final Playoffs spot.
April 1, 2007 am31 4:16 pm
this was the website where I got the Matt Sundin rumor
http://www.hockeytraderumors.com/
April 1, 2007 am31 4:23 pm
Where did you hear that rumour about Sundin? Is this some April fools joke because if it is, YOU ARE NOT FUNNY AND I AM NOT AMUSED, MORON!! I want the Leafs to lose tonight but please, no jokes here. If Montreal can win their final home game of the season against the Bruins on Tuesday, they will still need some help from some of the other teams. We need some of the other teams we are in contention with like the Rangers and Leafs to lose as well. Come on Leafs, please lose!! You have been doing it for the past 40 years, why not now? Anyways, just my thoughts here.
Ziman
April 1, 2007 am31 5:34 pm
I MUST have been drunk last night… wow.
One logical sentiment that I did offer, however:
If Montreal wins their final three games, they’re in. They won’t require help from anyone.
So that’s what they should do. Simple.
April 1, 2007 am31 6:44 pm
That Sundin thing, about him going back to Sweden. It’s just an April Fools day joke. I’m not amused! Hopefully the joke will come next Saturday, when we beat the leafs, and eliminate them from the playoff race!
Hey, moron who played that Sundin prank, didn’t anyone tell you that April fools day ends always at NOON, April 1st? MORON!
But the joke will be on the leafs when we beat them next Saturday, and cause them to miss the playoffs!
April 1, 2007 am31 7:28 pm
YESS 2-1 RANGERS, DIE MAPLE LEAFS DIE!!
April 1, 2007 am31 7:36 pm
Carolina just won…
April 1, 2007 am31 7:41 pm
Carolina shouldn’t have won the game. Florida was leading 3-1 with 8 minutes to go. Then they allowed a shorthanded goal, the Carolina tied it up with a few minutes to go. In overtime Florida was given a penalty, even tho the Canes player took a dive, and Belfour showed the referee the dive motion, and as a result Belfour was given an unsportsman like penalty, on the same play, and with florida 2 men short for 2 minutes, of course Carolina scored, and won the game. trust me, Carolina did NOT DESERVE TO WIN THE GAME! Too bad. we just can’t get any breaks.
April 1, 2007 am31 8:43 pm
5-2 RANGERS!!!!
April 1, 2007 am31 8:49 pm
Never, never upset me enough too put the 13 ***** curse on you !!! ask the Laff’s, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha…………………….
April 1, 2007 am31 8:55 pm
Hey Tricolor: how about a curse on the leafs for their game Thursday vs NYI.
I say that, because if by some miracle, the NYI could muster a win against the leafs, (in regulation), and we could beat the NYR, then it wouldn’t matter what happens in our game vs leafs, because we would be tied , and we win the tie breaker, because we have more wins. Come to think of it, on Tuesday and Thursday, put a curse on NYR. I think we could beat them, but our D has to be almost perfect. I just hope we aren’t forced to beat the leafs. That game scares me.

I went to TSN.ca to post a comment in the “Your Call” about the Laffs pathetic loss. And guess what. My comments were censored. My comments were not even rude. I guess that the Habs fans can’t say anything about the leafs eh. TSN turns my stomach. But the Laff fans can go in “Your Call” and bash the Habs after a game.
April 1, 2007 am31 10:35 pm
R habs, anything you need bro, GOOOO Habs !!!
April 1, 2007 am31 10:53 pm
ha ha ha ha. The leafs can jump ahead of the Habs and all they can muster up is a pathetic 7-2 loss to NYR. Terrible. Just goes to show that the Habs and even the Canes want it more then T.O. does. And you want to know why Mats Sundin always dissapears at crunch time? Because he doesn’t care about winning. Why else would he want to stick around in Toronto?
Two goals. and assist and beating up Darcy Tucker. I’m actually starting to like Sean Avery. That was the best move Glenn Sather has made at the deadline since his Oilers days. Did you know he had the choice between Balej, Hainsey, Hossa and Pleks in the Kovalev deal in 2004? And he took Balej.
April 1, 2007 am31 11:07 pm
Yeah, I kind of wished we had picked up Avery. But I think Lapierre could end up being that type of player, except he’s a bit smaller than Avery.
anyone out there worried about our game vs NYR? Rangers looked real good, and skating hard. What are our chances against them? You know we have to come out of that game with at least 1 point, otherwise leafs could end our season on Thursday. All these stressful games are causing my vertigo to come back. Yeah, I’m feeling dizzy again. Can’t we have an easy game. I’m tired of these nail biters. At least we know, 1 way or another, it will be over by Saturday.
April 1, 2007 am31 11:45 pm
I’m more worried about the last game vs the Laff’s, cause if it goes down to the wire, all those Laff comments about that **** team and there zombie fans mite come back to nip us,lol
April 1, 2007 am31 11:54 pm
Sundin forgot how to score goals.
April 2, 2007 am31 1:13 am
R habs,Sean Avery is only 5′ 9″,he plays big though, but is toast if he brings it to the game Thursday ,the Habs aren’t intimidated by him ,they know to keep him in check .He is quite the spark plug ,I’ll give him that !
April 2, 2007 am31 2:16 am
McCabe was a -5 against the Rangers. Holy hell.
April 2, 2007 am31 6:23 am
Hey Habs#1…(post 51) he’s not the only Ranger who took ballet. Nylander, Straka, Prucha, Hossa—they all can dance out there, but are about as physical as figure skaters…
2 wins coupled with one loss in the next 2 for the leafs, and that last game’ll mean nothing: to the leafs at least. Boston game is very winnable, and we can beat the NYR as well. In recent seasons, we’ve owned them. Let’s hope that trend continues…

I loved the way the national media took TO’s win, like as if they had a chance, and then the way they all but did not report that Montreal had the last spot.
Of course what happened to the Laffs could also happen to the habs. If Koivu and the vets decide to play lazy we could easily end up being overtaken either by the laff or the rangers, however mathematically and in morale, it seems impossible for not even little Koivu and maybe even Johnson not to be swept up by the emotion and play like their salary depends on it.
April 2, 2007 am31 10:26 am
The icing on the cake was the tone of voice and disbelief at TSN when the laffs lost by so much yesterday!
April 2, 2007 am31 10:27 am
Why did Koivu & Ryder’s line only play 13 shifts for 11:06 of ice time against Buffalo. They scored two goals between them. “There was no particular message I was sending with this decision,” head coach Guy Carbonneau said. “The Sabres decided to play with three lines and I was able to get the matchups I wanted.”
What in the hell was that. What is Carbo up to now. Why bench his one of his top lines. Does he really know what he is doing? I don’t know……
As far as I am concerned that was a very stupid move. There are players on that team that should be benched. Those two were not two of them.
April 2, 2007 am31 10:42 am
I agree, but I think it was to punish them for the lacklustre play of the other night more like. I think the message was loud and clear. Especially to the agents of Koivu and Ryder, if you want to keep getting the big bucks score.
April 2, 2007 am31 10:58 am
After all it is largely Koivu and Ryder on top of Huet and Dandenault’s lacklustre play that got us where we are, oh yes we can’t forget Rivet’s flu and Kovalev’s elbow, and the whole other retinue of excuses for the habs lacklustre play, LaPresse, the taxman, overdemanding fans and of course, because Celine Dion was not there to sing the national anthem, did I forget any more excuses? Oh yes, the anglo bigots who complain about every other little thing, like Bettman’s conspiracy to destroy the habs…etc…
April 2, 2007 am31 11:13 am
If it is because of their not so good play. Why were they not benched before, They have been on a roll as of late.
April 2, 2007 am31 11:25 am
Leave it to Guy Carboneau to be like the old French Army of old, blame after the game, arbitary though it may be. He did the same to the rookies early in the year and got us into a slump. It is sad when the coach is totally out of touch of reality. It is true what one blogger early this year had to say. Gainey and Carboneau see a totally different game than we do, they are out to lunch, never have returned from that Helicopter Charter over Montreal…when will they get down to earth and realize, hey you need the rookies?
April 2, 2007 am31 11:47 am
Earth calling Bob Gainey, Earth calling Bob Gainey, over……bench Dandenault…bench Dandenault and Ninnima….over…
April 2, 2007 am31 11:52 am
Anyone know of any psychic who can reach into that other netherworld where Gainey and Carboneau live in, so we can beam them real actual play by plays from previous games showing Bouillon or Dandenault working against the habs? You know where they give away the puck and help screen the habs goalie?
April 2, 2007 am31 12:23 pm
I don’t understand why Dandenault plays when Georges is available. Isn’t that the reason we obtained Georges? And please get Bouillon out of the lineup. Dandenault and Bouillon are absolutely horrible! And their minus rating proves it. The reason why Koivu’s ice time was limited, was because he has a very bad minus rating, and on Friday vs Ottawa, he was on the ice for 4 Ottawa goals! He is lousy defensively this year! He really should be on the 4th line. Was anyone aware that Koivu has never scored more than 21 goals in a season? That’s pathetic! And he’s on our 1st line? During the offseason we need to address that problem, and get a bonafide 1st line, with real snipers, because our 1st line is a joke. Koivu-20 goals, Higgins-20 goals, Ryder-27 goals.
Only 1 good goal scorer on the line, just won’t cut it!
And please revamp the D!
April 2, 2007 am31 12:59 pm
Breaking news! Canadiens fire coach guy Carbonneau!!!
Just kidding josh, the Devils fired Claude Julien cuz they’re stupid.
April 2, 2007 am31 1:22 pm
Carboneau just loves the heck outta Dandenault and Bouillon, honestly! I don’t know why. But never mind Koivu being bad defensively, if Dandenault or Bouillon could get assists in all of the Canadian’s losses, they would beat Koivu’s assist record! Honestly. By assists I mean where Dandenault or Bouillon basically stop the play, pass the puck to the other team and they score! How many times do we see that? Or how Dandenault or Bouillon screen our goalie! And Carbo loves them?
April 2, 2007 am31 1:32 pm
Never mind them for now, what we could use is better D-men like Chippy and Grabby and even D’Agostini, these rookies are great with Milroy and Lapierre and Lats. The whole gang of them had the media wondering if Carbo was a great coach, then Carbo had to go and ship them down. For all you hall monitors out there, the principal has called you into detention cause you are all too busy brown nosing Gainey and making excuses as to why we can’t use our rookies! Look to the other teams who have exclusively used rookies!
April 2, 2007 am31 3:38 pm
I think Carbo loves Dandenault and Bouillon because they’re french canadien. If they were european, they’re gone! Yeah, I believe the Kovalev story to the russian paper, saying carbo loves his own frenchies, and hates Euros.
April 2, 2007 am31 4:48 pm
Guys-food for thought. If the Rangers beat the Isles tomorrow night than the Rangers are in. Which would make it easier for the Habs to beat the Rangers Thursday night.
April 2, 2007 am31 5:33 pm
It would make it easier for the habs, provided they decide to play their backup goalie, Valiquette, not play as hard. Here’s another scenario: NYR wins tomorrow, lose to habs, and lose to Pitt, combined with a habs win vs Boston and the leafs, leaves NYR 1 point behind the habs. I doubt NYR will win their final game in Pitt, but we MUST WIN IN BOTH NY AND TORONTO. Tough task for us. We need NYI to beat the leafs on Thursday, tho chances of that happening, are slim due to NYI bad goaltending, and pretty much being out of the playoff chase.
