wow,I’m the first!YAY! ok,well Patrice brisebois is 36, and we don’t need him.Dandenault will be likely traded maybe to San Jose or Columbus, but we brisebois for cheap and he is thinking that this will be his last season. He was born in Montreal it’s his favorite team and he will have a great season I hope.

Everyone should read the article on Brisbois on the habs site…………it is now more apparent than ever as to why they would bring him back…… he makes a comment about how he and Carbo and Muller all won the cup together in 1993……….think about it……those 2 coaches I am sure last year talked up their cup experience to the players but to no avail…..now they have an actual player on the team who can back their preaching up!!!!!! Now this makes sense as to why they brought him back!!!!

Brisebois will be fine. Huge impact in the dressing room and finally, a player who WANTS to be in Habville. For the price, good value, pure and simple. Dont expect much, however, but dont forget - this guy helped the Habs win a cup. Give him a break and welcome his back my friends. Enough with the anti Breezeby ****. Move on. Bob G. is a genius - and very couragous for making this move. Takes guts to make such in move in Montreal. Let time determine the winner of this deal.

Trade coming perhaps? I would think yes espically with all the young talented Dmen coming up, O’Byrne, Valentenko, Carle, Fischer and McDonagh.

Wow. And I thought Gainey said he was done with all his “big” moves. Guess he had to go get a whipping boy to take care of the inevitable heat Hammerlicker is gonna get, and who better than the most booed Hab in recent history? Another Ninnimma-esque type player who will be scratched as often as he plays, or even more. I’d rather see a rookie there, learning his craft than a known pylon.

I never had a problem with Brisebois. Good move, here’s hoping the fans treat him better than they did and I’m sure he’s going to have a better Plus/Minus than Sheldon Souray’s -28!

I have this (crazy) convincing feeling that Bib Gainey will either pull a trade that will BRIGHTEN the team or will do one stupid (unforgivable) mistake which ill riuin his (so much) respected reputation
*Brisebois was a very good acquisition. It showed some class in both Brisebois and General manager Bob Gainey. Both have what we call gutzz.

Hmmm…I don’t know what to think of this acquisition. I definitely wasn’t Brisbois’ biggest fan with his first stint with the team, and I have no idea how he did away from the team. All I can say is that I still have faith in Gainey. So, I’m willing to give Patrice a chance to prove that he’s become a better player.

The point is that he isn’t here for the money, he is here for the team and that’s exactly the kind of player we need. This may be his last season before his retirement and i believe he will, by all means, make it his most memorable one and give it his all. His heart and soul like he said.

Bowman denies it…
Isn’t he too intelligent to risk tarnishing his reputation and achievements with such a weak organization? It would take years to dig themselves out of the messy their contracts and many more to replentish the talent in the form of prospects, since they traded 2 top picks away this year for a #2 goalie (better hope TUUKKA Rask comes of age soon)… cuz it would be a while to build the organizations depth chart which currently ranks among the bottom 5 in the NHL.
Bowman join the Habs if you want to join something worth while… come home.

This is exactly what the habs are in need of. When i looked at our D, i had no idea who would be our #4. I thought of possibly O’byrne but that would be a lot to ask. Brisebois will be a great as a non-top pairing defenseman. amd at 700k, what is there to lose. It’s not like it’s the end of the world if this doesnt turn out well. He’s earning close to 2 million dollars less than niinimaa did so this move is great. I agree wth mysteryfan on post 3. brisebois can be the bridge to the players that we needed. he can reinforce all that carbo and muller say about 93. Our Defense fairs pretty well against the other teams in our division and the majority of the teams on our conference.

XtraHabsfan ~ True, but Bowman and his ego would need complete control in order to turn that club into a winner. Ferguson would need more than just advice from Bowman, he needs to clean house, and admit everything he’s done to this point was a mistake, than quit and give Bowman the helm. Not seeing that happen!

I saw Brisebois in Colorado the last 2 years. I think it’s a bad move for the Habs. He’ll be decent the first 15-20 games, lots of points from the point. But Patrice is slow and gives the puck away in his own zone a lot.
Considering how much people booed him last time he was with the Habs, I’m guessing he’ll ride the bench most of the season.
He’s just too old and too slow. Sorry, guys.

What a disappointing off season, hope some young stud evolves out of the Montreal organization, or were gonna have a long wait. I see we have good depth, and people seem to think were 2 or 3 years away. I see a bunch of 3rd liners, chipchura prolly a 4th liner. I don’t see many top 6 forwards, if any, tank the next 2 years and get Tavares. Were in trouble.

I agree and what make matters worse?,my doubts of head coach Carbo’s potential to even come close to pulling this off,”line-juggling, overly defencive, self centered, unproven and highly doubtful too pull it off sophomore!”It really reminds me of Mario Trembley’s attempt to be king.Carbo’s going to get so many players injured at the beginning of the season diving in-front of pucks and running into each other…..,well I really hope I’m wrong but if the Habs make it to the finals this year it will be another miracle on ice!Ido believe we are going to see a record amount of different players with the C.H. jersey this season and that will be all,sorry.

well he is kinda right. we don’t have a number 1 guy. Koivu did his best last year but only 75 pts. kovalev used to play really good, but he doesn’t really care anymore. we need a 100 pts getter! OUR DEFENCE IS FINE!

It’s hard to see other teams make moves while our team stays idle. Obviously we don’t see all the things that go on
behind the scenes. BUT, scoring has been an issue with this club for quite a while. I’m not saying that bashing the
players, coaches, and management before the season even begins is the right thing to do at this point in time. But
someone must be held accountable for this team’s performance. If we don’t have the players, (and right now, we
don’t) then it’s up to management to bring in better talent - like a good solid Center.

Kovalev (tuesday) got into a motorcycle accident. based on the reports, injuries are not serious. He was driving Grande-Rivieres’ mayors’s motorcycle and got into an accident. It is believed he became a very good friend with the mayor after the accident. He showed some class by promising him to fix his bike and buying him a new one!!!!
I would love to see him show some class on ice!!!

Whats going on in Montreal? Isn’t it time to get a star there again? Don’t get me wrong….I’m a huge Habs fan…been so all my life….but people, wheres the glimmer of hope for us diehards…..wheres the player or two that make us fans say “ok, thats a good start”? Smolinski, Hamrlik, and Brisebois…..3 players out of their prime, AND who weren’t really much in their prime. So essentially what we have now in Montreal is the same team as last season…the same team who couldn’t make the playoffs then, and subtract Souray’s 20 plus goals this year. Really, it’s enough emphasis on “players who are good in the dressing room”….how about we try to get some players who are good on the ice…wins games and all that jazz. I really hope I eat my words and our beloved Habs have a great season…but of course, that would mean a team of average players geling like they did in 93, and thats a chance in a million in todays game. Sure the only player scoring any goals (Ryder), again this year is the last player signed AND it took going to arbitration to do so. Doesn’t something seem wrong with that? Whats the plan here….”we dont need goals because we’re gonna try to win all our games 1-0 and 2-1 with solid D and top-notch goaltending”? Not gonna happen….cuz we don’t have either. I know it’s a slow process of building, but it has been years now, very slow and seemingly still no building. I really can’t see any of these 3 acquisitions making any kind of impact on this years team, not where they need it anyway. I guess we’re still supposed to be waiting for the big breakout of Koivu…how many years has he been there now anyways?

I can understand people being frustrated with this team, but I can’t take people bashing Koivu.
This guy is a warrior. Not only is he a class act, but he was able to come back from that eye injury
and from cancer. He did all this and played pretty well both times! I remember seeing his triumphant
return that playoff series against Boston - (after recovering from cancer) and watching him kick butt!
Living in Toronto, I’m always hearing Don Cherry talk about the rough and tough good ole’
Canadian boys. Non of whom have anything on this team’s captain.
Yes, there are problems with this team, but Koivu’s not one of them.

Don’t get me wrong Jack Hab…..I like Koivu too…perseverance and balls is what he’s all about, this has been proven over and over again……I’m not bashing him, I’m just saying that he hasn’t lived up to the production numbers that he is capable of having. Lets face it, if the top guy on your team is averaging about 70 points a season, thats just not enough production. The problem then, is goals, we’re not scoring enough. I don’t know, maybe the Habs just haven’t found the right player to combine and gel with Koivu to up the production….but when your teams “star” can go cold for 10 games, then have 2 good games, then go cold for another 6 or 8, thats just not enough consistency or production….and thats what Koivu’s season have been like since he’s got there. I like the guy, he’s a great leader and captain, and he’s loved by all the Habs faithful…all I’m saying is that he’s gotta start doin it on the ice with his stick, instead of just in the dressing room with his attitude…can anyone really argue with that? Let’s go Saku !!!

You guys are right about Saku. Imagine if he could play with a player like Heatley !! It would be a nex team perspective and no one here would complain about the captain…
