  • goalie : Good news for the Habs and Carey. We (myself included)have to get over the trade of Halak and move on. On a + note, hopefully the player we got for Jaro will pan out . We certainly need upgrading in our forward positions. Let's really HOPE Carey stands on his head at the beginning of the year to SHUT the fans up! Strong goaltending and VICTORIES are the cure for all hockey woes!

  • Mats Naslund : ON second look it appears to be for 5.25 for 2 years - in other words 2.5 and 2.75... just like all reasonable pundits had predicted - and in the same week that his agent predicted almost a month ago.

  • Senet1 : Mats I also agree with you it took us almost all year to develop chemistry because of all the injuries. However, one thing we lacked all year was third and fourth line offensive contribution. We seemed to start to get it with the Moore trade, now it will be interesting if the third kid line can give us that added offense we need when line 1 and 2 are not going well.

  • Cup 25 : It is Senet1, Mats and Pactum I had to change my name to Cup25, so now I have to ID's. I am just wondering what allowed someone to go in and obviously messed with our password or something?

  • Mats Naslund : I agree with you Senet, that it'll be a matter of holding on until Markov comes back. But I just think the value of familiarity amongst our D and top 2 lines is valuable - since most of last year was spent trying to develop chemistry. We'll see though.

  • Cup 25 : I see our third line as a speed line with grit from Boyd, Finesse from Eller and Energy from Pyatt, the big question will be do they have any finishing power? Our 4th line will be our crash/checking line. Lapierre doing this thing, Moen and Darche working the corners. This line will need to score some big goals for the team as well. They have the tools, but will Moen and Darche do the same thing for Lapierre that Moore did? Moore seemt to bring the best out in Lapierre. Lappy had the most hits
  • Cup 25 : Our first two lines are the same as last year to start the season. 3rd Line could be Eller, boyd, Pyatt, 4th Lapierre, Moen, Darche
  • Cup 25 : The same position as last year, however, we have one thing going for us, and that is that all the new players we added are have now been incorporated into the team and as long as we can avoid long term injuries that should help us as the season progresses.
  • Cup 25 : Mats, I hope you are right and I am wrong, I would like to say that the team offence should improve over the season, but the bottom line is we do not have Markov to start the season, same as last year. I stated last year that we had to stay close to that 8th position until Markov came back, that seemed to hold true, but them just as we started to so signs of moving up, injuries hit our forwards and we became vulnerable again to missing the PO. As I see it we are in that same position again thi
  • Cup 25 : I am not sure what causes this but Pactum seems to be having a similar problem. It seems to come and go??? Possible change in password may help?

  • Mats Naslund : last season. They are comfortable with each other, and their roles are defined. I see that as a huge benefit going into this season. People were laughing at us about Hal Gill at the start of the year. NOBODY questions him now. Everyone talks about the Leaf's supposed defensive depth.. I would MUCH prefer ours to theirs.
  • Mats Naslund : I still see us as an improved club. Yes Metro is gone, but his opportunity came last year because of injury. We saw what our 'Big 4' - yes I am using that term to describe the smurfs - were capable of when healthy. If we can have them all play somewhere around 70 games this year I think the difference will be significant. Someone is going to get the powerplay time that Metro had - be it Pouliot, AK46, Eller or whomever. They will need to step up. Our defense is 100% better than when we started
  • Senet1 : Hopefully, PK will not try to do too much in Markov's absence. Our older defenceman cannot carry the same amount of ice time as last year, so as I see it it will depend how quickly Markov gets back on whether we make the playoffs and we are more likely to be a 10th place team. If we do better than that two things will have happened. 1. we will not have as many injuries as last year and 2. our big four forward will produce better together and possibly our young guns play better than we expected
  • Senet1 : I for one do not expect that much from our team this year. The way I see it we are taking one step backward to go forward next year. We cannot expect the youth to carry the same quality ice time that Moore and Metro gave to us. Hopefully they do but that remains to be seen. With Markov out for about a month we will probably have the same start as last year maybe worse. PK will give us some quality icetime, however, as a rookie he will probably make a number of mistakes as rookies will do, hope

  • Mats Naslund : Great news that RDS is reporting Markov was on skates today. We don't need him to rush back, but its good to hear he is progressing.
  • goalie : Training camp is just around the corner. With last year's playoff performance it is going to be interesting to see how our Habs perform night in night out. We won't be taken lightly especially in light of the fact we knocked off some very good teams last spring. Step up to the plate boys!!!
  • Mats Naslund : luckily I haven't eaten lunch yet or it would be all over my desk. Guerin? C'mon. My most hated player in the NHL.
