Carey Price’s NHL Debut

Carey Price will begin his NHL Career with the Canadiens Wednesday night, October 10th 2007.
Will it be a debut to a historic career with the Canadiens?
It didn’t take long for Cristobal Huet to get yanked and Carey Price to be put in. 2 games. There has been lots of hype and press surrounding Price since he was drafted by the Habs and now he gets chance to prove himself. Perhaps earlier than most would have thought.
Kyle Chipchura will also get his NHL start. Most likely replacing Mikhail Grabovski who still doesn’t look to be completely ready for the NHL.

We will have to see how Price handles the NHL, maybe they shouldn’t rush him too soon but Huet is struggling right now and they need solid goaltending so he seems like the man for the job right now. I would have started him against the Hurricanes rather than the high-flying Penguins but we have to wait and see how this transpires!

Cant wait to see price get the start although i do question carbo on this one,pittsburg?why?.Oh well you know what they say, in order to be the best you have to beat the best.Good luck carey you will need it. GO HABS GO

I guess Carbo read my posts. Now, we have to get rid of Latendresse, as well. Then we can start rebuilding this team. A trade is really needed, for a goal scorer, like Demitra, who is unhappy in Minnesota.
C’mon Bob, you know you need another goal scorer!

Price should be our goalie for most of the season. Yet, Carbo says, no matter how well Price plays tomorrow night, (even if he gets a shutout), Huet will be in nets on Saturday night. Can you believe that?
I thought the BEST goalie plays every game. How can he pre award a start to Huet, if Price plays great? Carbo is SUCH A MORON!

Saturday should be left for Huet because Price should not have to deal with playing the home opener at the Bell Center. It would just me needless amounts of pressure for nothing…he’ll probably get to start next Tuesday again against the Panthers.

LOL toronto loses 7-1 to Carolina NICE, Hopefully Price can show everyone what he’s made of. and Pleckanec gets to play with Kostitsyn and Kovalev!!, expect them to hit the scoreboard tommorow. Go habs go!

I thought every game in the NHL was pressure. And besides, if you can’t play under pressure, then you shouldn’t be playing in the NHL.
He needs the baptism of playing under fire.
Hey leafs lost 7-1 to Carolina tonight, yet we can’t win 1 lousy game against them!

I dunno, I assume Gainey and Carbo are where they are for a reason and we’re here writing on habsblog. Carbo seems to have the mentality of doing what is best for the team so I’m sure he sees something unexpected then he’ll run with it. Plus, everyone here knows how finical habs fans, and more so media, can be so giving Price a little bit of time to adjust may be a good idea. Also, how many other teams have played, or are playing, there back-up only three games into the season…sure none probably have the potential or Price but none also have the expectations

I find it all very exciting having all these options ,allso Iam very impressed with Kovalev “he is a time shifter” and is in a class of his own when he is in his zone.

One OT loss and you think Huet is struggling??? It’s the beginning of the season!! Price gets the start because he deserves it and needs to get in… this will only fire up Huet to compete… and when Huet is rolling, we win~

Just watching the game and decided I’d make a wager. Price looks brilliant of course, but, unless he’s currently injured, Latendresse will finish this year in the minors. Any takers?

I thought Kovalev, Kostityn and Plekanec were our best line. They seem to gell well. What’s happening to Higgins? The guy can’t score. Basically, he had 1 great year, and last year(even tho he was injured for quite awhile), couldn’t score. Is he going to be this year’s version of Samsonov???
He better get his act together, because we need him to score.
Price played well for his first NHL game. Tho he wasn’t spectacular, he made the saves when needed. Had he played last Saturday in Toronto, we would have won. If Carbo plays Huet, and we lose because he allows bad goals, Carbo will really hear it from the faNS. pRICE SHOULD BE THE #1 goalie, and Halak should be the backup. They need to trade Huet. He’s awful! he will kill the habs chances this year! The price is right!

Chevy, Higgins has been our best player so far this year. He’ll score in time. Besides if not for his injury he would have had his best season last year.

Price is not fancy but he is in the right spot at the right time. Dryden was not fancy cause he had the size…..

Price has played one game, did EXCELLENT… but to go and say Huet is awful.. man, you need a good slap across the head… Remember 2 seasons ago when he was the only reason we got into the playoffs?? Or were you too busy cheering for another team back than… you have “former leafs fan” written all over you, or at least, that what you sound like…lol, go back to watching your tennis game or something

I though Price played well as did Higgins and Ryder. I still think Huet is the #1 until he loses it. As far as somebody mentioning Samsonov,did anyone take notice of Hamerlack last night. He basically knocked Price over on the first Pittsburgh goal and seemed to have hands of stone all night. I hope this is only early season jitters. But 5 out of 6 points on the road ain’t too shabby.

Hey Mr. Big time: Unfortunately, some people forget very quickly, that it was HUET WHO COST US FROM MAKING THE PLAYOFFS LAST YEAR, DUE TO HIS INABILITY TO STOP THE PUCK.
