Fallen Rookies
The Canadiens host the Florida Panthers tonight in Montreal and they’ll do so without another one of last seasons French Canadian rookies.
After Maxim Lapierre didn’t even make the cut, Guillaume Latendresse now finds himself in the press box as a healthy scratch very early into the season.
Guillaume Latendresse has been virtually invisible on the ice this season and Guy Carbonneau isn’t waiting to take action.
“He’s definitely not playing well,” head coach Guy Carbonneau told reporters on Monday.
What’s going on with Latendresse? Is it a coincidence its Lapierre and Latendresse out of the line up after being made celebrities and heros by the French media? Shooting those RDS commercials perhaps went to their head. Coasting has got one in the minors and one in the press box. Temporary set back or future Jose Theodore’s and Mike Ribeiro’s caught in the hype?
Grabovski is back in to take his place and hopefully he can bring an offensive spark and be somewhat responsible defensively.
After Florida the Habs will be tested by 3 straight Divisional opponents which should help put the Northeast Division into perspective.

They “Lapierre and Latendresse” are fine and going to have great careers in the N.H.L. Lapierre is currently leading scorer in A.H.L ,while Lats sits in the presse box ,should be on the first or second line for his scoring ability’s,no brain-er especially when the Habs can’t buy a goal!Lats is not the fastest Skater,so trying to make him a checker is stupid…..WE NEED GOALS!!!!!!

Begin not playing tonight, and only found out at this morning’s skate. Apparently, he’s livid! Carbo is now losing this team. You can’t tell a player the day of the game that he’s not playing. Carbo is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE COACH!
He should NOT be coaching in the NHL! and he has not learned from last year’s mistakes!

You people make me laugh. You don’t even have a 1/4 of the hockey sense Carbo has, if you did, you’d be coaching the team. It’s real easy to sit back & talk trash, actually COACHING at a professional level is completely different. Carbo isn’t “losing” anything. He’s juggling the line up & trying to see if that leads to something. Obviously, Latendresse wasn’t playing to his potential, so he’s sitting out a game, just like Grabovsky did the past 2 games. Stop making this about language, cause that has nothing to do with it. SKILL is the bottom line, not what language you speak.

I have to agree with Carboneau on this one. There are too many players on this team who do not want to put a work ethic into the game. When Detroit won there cups it was Draper and Maltby who got their hands dirty. The habs need to ship some of these premadonas out and bring in some grit. Even watch some of the habs past championships on Classic Canada even Lafleur paid the price.People we seem to be in an era in Montreal of give me my pay check and I will show up. I agree Carboneau’s coaching is of one of a poor communicator but Gainey is not about to admit that. Has anyone noticed how Ted Nolan’s players go to the wall for him. That tells you how the good old boys club works (black list good coaches because they are not your buddy and promote bad coaches because they are).

Why do some people think lattendresse should be on the first line? What has he done to be promoted?NOTHING.This guy cant even skate for crying out loud and you want to put him on the first line hahahahahahahaha.Must be the french media calling for carbo’s head because their so called frech hero is a bust lol. This is what happens when you have a big ego.I just have to shake my head at some of the posts in here.I hope carbo puts lattendresse on the first bus to hamilton.Atleast we dont get to see lattendresse’s slow moving ankle burning skating tonight.Thank god

Vokoun and Komisarek’s lazy slash beat the Habs tonight. They outplayed the Panthers in every way and lost. That’s demoralizing

Two games in a row blown because of a penalty. It is last year all over again. We had enough chances tonight to have 10 goals. This is getting old real fast.
I am sick to my Stomach already……..I REALLY DON’T KNOW…….

On the bright side, the rookies looked good. So did Higgins: he had lots of self-generated chances. And Huet obviously played very well too.
Komisarek is struggling this year, so hopefully he comes out the coma in the next few weeks. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Carboneau sit Komisarek in the next game, or perhaps the game after that if he has another bad game.
How are they going to get Latendresse back in the lineup? I predict one more night in the rafters for Latendresse, then he gets a chance to come back into the lineup and respond. If he doesn’t, he’ll be the grinder on Lapierre’s line for a month or two.

unless Gainey makes a trade to get a goal scorer, it’s over.
This team can’t shoot the puck straight, and their timing is way off! Even the leafs can score.
It’s so demoralizing. It’s like pulling teeth to score 1 goal!
I think Ryder should be traded. But whether you like hearing this statement or not: THIS YEAR WILL BE AN EXACT CARBON COPY OF LAST YEAR’S TEAM!!!

I AGREE WITH CHEVY.
The Habs Fans are getting worse than the Leaf Fans. They think we have a playoff team Give your heads a sake if you think this. If we support this kind of hockey we will never win a cup in 40 years. It has been 13 yrs and counting. We as Habs Fans are not use to that. Be we will be from now on if we put up with these crappy teams.
I FOR ONE AM PISSED OFF BIG TIME. I AM SO FUSTRATED I WANT TO BREAK SOMETHING.

We can’t whine about the Refs. Yes some calls are not right, but the most of the calls are from our stupid players.
If I were out there and the Ref did make a bad call, I would shoot the Damn put right at him and take the B#@%ch out. ……..

I actually thought they played a very strong game. They generated a lot more chances. They just need to get traffic in front of the net. Every goal does not have to be on a highlight reel. I watched the Colorado highlights from last night and watched where Ryan Smyth is when he is on the ice. When he does not have the puck in the offensive zone he is making the Defensemen’s night miserable. This is something I think Carboneau should work on in practice.Doing this you may even be able to employ a guy like Murray or Begin on with Kovalev and Plecanic to cause problems. This could also give more balance and strength to your 3rd and 4th lines.

20 Chevy and 21 DTD, I agree with both of you, anyone who thinks this is a playoff team, is smoking some bad grass, after looking at last years team what did this team do in the offseason to improve it ?a Calgary reject, so in reality…they did nothing, not that I blame Gainey for all of that, if players don’t or won’t come to the Habs, its overpay some “has been” or “never-has-been” to come. How about the Ducks paying that slug bertuzzi millions, thats what the Habs Are going to have to do to get players, and doing that they will accomplish nothing. bite the bullet, and give the young players a chance to develop , were not going to make the playoffs anyway, so lets take action now, give the young players a chance to develop. A+ to Higging last night, Komi—stupid penalty.

as much as I love the Habs, as long as all games are sold out….why improve ??
Habs fans should boycott all home games, Gillette is no dummy, when he see’s 10,000 empty seats and the lost revenue I am sure he would do something.
Habs have the best attendance in the league–FACT– look at the stats for yourself, they can afford to pay for some high priced help,NOT RETREADS,
however for this sseason, bring up the young players and give them a full year,
as much as I like Koivu, he has to go, Kovalev–scumbag-do anything to get rid of him. I think you will see Bob make a trade involving one of the goalies
for a top name player before the year is out.
