  • No Finish

    Canadiens game summarized…

    • Canadiens score early and dominate most of game, but lack of scoring ability limits them to the one early goal.
    • Canadiens take bad, late penalty and allow a team that should have been put to rest early, to score a goal with 10 seconds remaining in the game.
    • Panthers take it to a shootout and steal a goal, two points and the win. Canadiens lose second consecutive home ice game.

Even though the Canadiens played well most of the game and Vokoun stood on his head, losses like this hurt as much or worse then a 7-1 blowout. Because the Canadiens should have locked up those 2 points easily.

No scoring and no discipline haunt the Habs again.

  • Fallen Rookies

The Canadiens host the Florida Panthers tonight in Montreal and they’ll do so without another one of last seasons French Canadian rookies.

After Maxim Lapierre didn’t even make the cut, Guillaume Latendresse now finds himself in the press box as a healthy scratch very early into the season.

Guillaume Latendresse has been virtually invisible on the ice this season and Guy Carbonneau isn’t waiting to take action.

“He’s definitely not playing well,” head coach Guy Carbonneau told reporters on Monday.

What’s going on with Latendresse? Is it a coincidence its Lapierre and Latendresse out of the line up after being made celebrities and heros by the French media? Shooting those RDS commercials perhaps went to their head. Coasting has got one in the minors and one in the press box. Temporary set back or future Jose Theodore’s and Mike Ribeiro’s caught in the hype?

Grabovski is back in to take his place and hopefully he can bring an offensive spark and be somewhat responsible defensively.

After Florida the Habs will be tested by 3 straight Divisional opponents which should help put the Northeast Division into perspective.
