Loooooong Island

For reasons unknown, the Canadiens don’t play well in Long Island, New Jersey and not that great in New York either.

The Habs will meet the Islanders tonight and the Devils on the road next week. Sandwiched in between that is a home and home against the pesky Sabres and another game with the Leafs.

The same issues persist, no production from the top line. What is the answer? And how long can we wait before we see that line broken up?

Cristobal Huet gets his second straight start leading up to the home and home with Buffalo where there will most definitely be an appearance by Carey Price.

You know what bugs me? When Huet handles the puck, because he always gives it to the opposition! can’t we tape his stick to his arm, so doesn’t touch it.
Also, why is Brisebois and Ryder always on the PP? Brisebois can’t shoot, and he has no slapshot. it’s simply ridiculous!
Kovalev needs to stay on the PP for the entire PP.

habsofthefuture: firstly,If this is your name, you obviously are not a fan of the present habs. secondly, why do you resort to name calling, when I’m only expressing my opinion? Nothing says I have to agree with you. Please don’t stoop to chastizing others for disagreeing with you. And if you ever listen to the team 990(montreal sports station), you will see that they agree with everything I’m saying, especially PJ Stock and Tony Marinaro. So grow up, because you’re the one being disrespectful!

Lot of tension in here…. haha. Nice win tonight considering the hard times we’ve had on the Island. Again, 5pts behind the Sens. With back-to-back victories against the Sabres this weekend, and Ottawa falling to the Pens and Flyers, we’ll be so close to #1. The Sens need to lose back to back games for the Habs to move closer to the top. And this weekend would be a great time to do it. I’m going to the game on Saturday and hope to see Price in net. Maybe he’ll play both games, but I doubt it. Huet’s doing a phenomenal job so far aside from that pathetic game last Friday in Buffalo. Love home and home games so much excitement and bitterness between the teams. Can’t wait!

    GO HABS GO!

I had a great time watching the boys in action. Too bad Huet lost his shutout with only
a few minutes left in the game. He played really well.

Montreal needs a tough guy. As it stands, the team gets intimidated when the other team gets chippy–it’s fine for now, but it will come back to haunt us if the team ends up in the playoffs. Boston pushed the Habs around once they started losing, and so did the Islanders last night–guys running Koivu and Kovalev and nobody on the team to do anything about it. Kostopolous tries his best, but he’s not a fighter. They need to go out and get somebody that opponents do not like to fight (Souray had that quality, but he’s too expensive to fight), so that opponents think a few times before running the Habs’ skill players. We’ve never won a Stanley Cup without an enforcer, but the way things are going on this team, they’ll need an enforcer who can also play 5-10 minutes of decent hockey every night. Laracque gets my vote on the fighting front, and he’s not a goon like Boogaard, but he’s also unavailable.

I’m just curious as what happend to Mathieu Biron of the BULLDOGS?He’s to slow as a Dman in the NHL,but as a forward 6′6″ 230lbs on a checking line might be worth a try for a tough guy, after all Boogard can only fightand nothing else!

You know what I hate about this website? When hab supporters are insulted for simply giving theit opinion! What’s wrong with an honest opinion? if we all thought alike, the world would be a pretty boring place!
And if any of you should be so lucky to make the playoffs, like PJ Stock, then you wouldn’t be so JEALOUS! The guy is his own radio show, he’s also on the intermission of HNIC, and he’s well respected. Too bad I can’t say the same thing about some of you low life idiots. And I will keep on giving my opinions, NO MATTER WHAT YOU IDIOTS THINK OR SAY!! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

It’s hard for the Habs because they are one of the best teams in the league at using their entire team–we really don’t have a “wasted” spot for a goon in the lineup. My only concern here is that teams start taking liberties on Koivu, Kovalev and Markov when they get frustrated. That could really hurt us down the line by intimidating the team in a playoff series or, even worse, injuring one of the better players. I mean it’s one thing to have people hitting these players very hard, which is expected but still something an enforcer would deal with, but it’s another thing to see Koivu getting nailed with late hits, and Kovalev getting his face rubbed out, helmet knocked off, and then getting some chin music to boot, and there being nobody on the team to do anything about it. Komisarek does okay, but he shouldn’t be (and isn’t) a fighter. I sort of reminds me of how Ottawa used to get pushed around when they had a young skill team. That’s changed now though, with Neil for toughness and McGrattan for fighting.

By the way, did anyone notice that Samsonov is -6 this year, with 0G and 3A in 15 games, even while averaging 10-15 minutes per game? What happened to this guy?

Habs2b fan is right, Brisebois and Ryder shouldn’t be on the power play. Kostitsyn, Kolvalev, Koivu, Markov, Streit, Latentresse, Higgins, Hamrlik, Plekanec, Boullion, Sergei Kostitsyn should be the players on the two power play units!!! Also, bring up Ryan O’Byrne and retire Brisebois already!!!!

How come when Huet loses a game by playing “well” but not “amazing” and we lose. vey idiot blames him and says he sucks…morons! then we he steals another game we had no business winning, like many we won over the last 2 years, no one says a word about him and Price

Why is price starting tonight????? This is exactly why Huet is not as consistent as we want him to be….what other teamhas a goalie with a g.aa of 2.00 and a sv prcentage of 9.37 and only starts him half the games????? what is wrong with carbo? and yes I love Carey Price, but this is just dumb…price will get many years to shine…

the canadiens should try four forwards and one defenceman on the powerplay. I is a powerplay after all. If the defenceman don’t have a good shot why not put a forward.
