- fuzz16 : Hey all....Havent been on in a long long time.... Since we HAd kovy, koivu, tanguay combo... I must say gonna be sad to see gainey go... Did so much fir the Habs but he has made mad mistakes recently...The worst was Gomez... 8.5 million is such a waste of money... Even Gill at 2.25 million... Thats a lot of Mollah for those 2... Cammalari and Gionta were great signings and Plek is killing it ... Sorry for the long msg guys.... havent talked habs hockey in a while
- goalie : Please don't EVER mention the name GRUNDMAN. He was totally incapable!!! Nuff said. If the plan is not to have Gauthier long term how about Pierre McGuire. He cetainly knows his hockey and can analyse a team's (and player's) strengths and weaknesses.
- Senet1 : I hear about all the negatives but when people are down on you they never say anything about the positives. I think I would take him over Grundman anyday.
- Senet1 : I agree goalie, lets not shoot the guy before he does anything. After all he did do some good things in Quebec and Ottawa. He drafted Sundin, Joe Sakic, and Lindros and was involved in the Lindros trade to Philly. Basically what he did there Colorado has benefited for the last 15 years. He did deliver in Ottawa too having a good team and going to the playoffs all three years he was there. Only problem at the time his team could not beat the leafs. So I hear about all th negatives but not about
- goalie : What one can never forget is that the NHL is stressful, being the GM and or coach of the HABS is VERY STRESSFUL. There are tons of backseat drivers (like ourselves) analysing every micromove the team does and does not do. What was apparent was the STRESS shown on BG's face - of which much of it comes from being a Hab. Let's see what Gauthier does in the meantime.... we all know that he'll be gone if he does not produce. This change probably means both goalies stay until the end of this seaso
- Senet1 : But for now I say lets give him a chance and see what he does.
- Senet1 : Lets face it guys, some people learn from their mistakes and some don't. If he does not he is a lot easier to fire than BG who is and will alwasy be a Hab.
- Senet1 : Well one positive is that if he falls flat on his face then Rocky will get his wish and we will eventually get a good #1 draft choice.LOL.
- Senet1 : Ottawa was a good team while he was the GM???
- Senet1 : Ok save me the trouble,
- PACTUM SERVA : There is no posistive here
- PACTUM SERVA : Senet try and dig up some info on what gauthier did in ottawa and with the ducks....it speaks for itself
- Senet1 : About two months ago, I said Gainey would never be fired that if the team did not perform he would resign first. I believe Mats and I talked about that back in December. To me Gainey did all he could to remake this team unfortunately he failed, he could not get a big centre, but other than Lang who could have been our 30 goal man injuries injuries. Lets face it every player that he brought into this team in the last two years has had a serious injury that and has missed at least a month or more.
- Senet1 : So I guess I am missing something, why does everyone have their panties so tight on Gauthier as the GM. To me he deserves a chance. if he does a good job are we going to praise him or continue to question every decision he makes. One thing for sure you are not going hire a new GM this time of year. I say give him a chance.
- Mats Naslund : I would have preferred 'interim' next to GM.
- Mats Naslund : The one plus on the side of Gauthier is that he is very familiar with the team. A new GM might not have understood everything about the players, but he will. I'm still not sold though. His track record scares the heck out of me.
- Donnie : Thanks for making that point about the whole French thing islandhabfan. These are the truest words spoken on this site. Alot of people wont say it cuz they think it sound somewhat biggoted. But my friend, you are exactly right, until this whole speaking french bullsh*t thing goes out the window, this club is not gonna recover. Hiring someone anywhere else in the country because he speaks english would be racism, but it floats when its the opposite and done in Quebec. CUT THE BULLSH*T habs, and g
- goalie : I think Mats may be on the right path. EVERYONE has said for three years now that the habs need a bigger stronger center ice man. The fact is BG Did NOT get that player in three years. The team isn't that much better than last year (if at all) afte teh off-season moves. I think thta the Molson's may have quietly suggested he down. I would have if I were them.
- PACTUM SERVA : wake me up in another 6 years guys
- PACTUM SERVA : lol
- nilan : Jeeez, gauthier sounds like he's facing a firing squad. Already got the blindfold on...
- PACTUM SERVA : im changing my handle lol
- PACTUM SERVA : lol no not really nilan lol
- PACTUM SERVA : this team is so fuc ked
- nilan : Maybe "keeping the faith" is not what we are feeling right now, eh pac?
- nilan : That may very well happen.
- PACTUM SERVA : Gauthier will put his stamp on this team by trading away price lol
- nilan : Soooo....trade everyone for draft picks and bring up the entire Hamilton squad? Late 90's all over again.
- islandhabfan : He has the right last name. this team is not going anywhere as long as they only hire people that speaks french They have to find the best person no matter what language they speak...
- nilan : 2-3 year window. sorry.
- nilan : As of late? there was a 2-3 window of hope in a sea of bad choices.
- PACTUM SERVA : agreed
- Donnie : Maybe just another horrible move in what seems to be becoming a regular thing in Montreal as of late.
- PACTUM SERVA : but gauthier???????? ?????
- PACTUM SERVA : True

The Lighting play out of St.Petersburg. Why is the team called Tampbay Lighting?
Where does The Panthers play out of?
December 27, 2007 pm31 7:56 pm
Sunrise, Florida. I think.
December 27, 2007 pm31 8:00 pm
Well well,I see the Habs are in Florida”suntanning, swimming, beachbumming, cheaking out the curves”relaxing like they do while playing HOCKEY!!!!And what’s with Carbo sitting Chipcura and playing Ryder”coach has taken way too many pucks in the head” ,what kind of system is it that when you SUCK you get to play and when your a first year,+1 forward who is playing well then you get the press box???That is so GOOFEY CARBO!!!!YOU NEED ONE OF THOSE COACHING FOR IDIOTS BOOKS BUDs!!!lol
December 27, 2007 pm31 8:23 pm
Your silly if you think Ryder is in any new plans…he’s got to be shipped and that means displaying whatever gifts he has…right now that’s not too good.
Besides, the team has to clobber Tampa Bay as they have either Vinny or Richards or St. Louis and the Canadiens could/should be exploring any potential trades with them. Could see Ryder Huet combo for a Lecavalier or St. Louis and a throw-in (maybe backup goalie)…in the near future. Hope so anyways. Go Habs Go!
December 27, 2007 pm31 8:40 pm
How about displaying Ryder at the edge of the Grand Canyon and then give him a push, lol
December 27, 2007 pm31 8:59 pm
I like that one, xtrahabsfan. Ha ha ha! good one. yes, Ryder only playing to be displayed for a trade to any team for a bag of pucks, because that’s all he’s worth.
December 27, 2007 pm31 11:18 pm
They were on fire tonight and Ryder still managed to end up a -2. Ryder, Huet and that sloppy O’Byrne to Tampa for Lecavier!
December 27, 2007 pm31 11:57 pm
You guys are smoking some bad dope if you think Tampa Bay is ever going
to trade Vinny for a couple minor leaguers, even if Huet is included that
is not going to make the trade happen. You can dream, but it is quite unrealistic.
December 28, 2007 pm31 12:01 am
O’Byrne has got to use his size and weight out there!!!!! He looks lost a lot out there. Ryder still can’t do anything..other then them I think they played pretty well. Not a perfect game (last few min.) but over all they played a pretty good road game..Look out for a collapse in the Florida game tomorrow(HOPE NOT)…GO HABS GO
December 28, 2007 pm31 12:01 am
Your a SICK *** to even joke about pushing someone over a cliff.
December 28, 2007 pm31 12:08 am
The Habs will have to give up a lot for that to happen. Habs do not have what TB would be looking to get for Vinny. The only one I could see the Habs get would be Richards. But still is not what the fans want. There probably will be a trade soon but not what we all want and if it is for any of the players that Habs fans are after don’t get mad at what BG. has to give up for him…
(WE PRETTY MUCH ALL HAVE BEEN CALLING FOR A TOP CENTER AND WE WILL HAVE TO GIVE UP A BLUE CHIP OR TWO TO GET IT).
December 28, 2007 pm31 12:38 am
once and for all: ANYONE WHO THINKS WE WOULD EVER GET LECAVALIER IS A TOTAL IDIOT! IT’S NEVER EVER EVER GOING TO HAPPEN! GIVE IT UP!
December 28, 2007 pm31 12:41 am
Like I said we do not have what they want…. The only way to get Vinny is when his contract is up and even then it wont happen…..
December 28, 2007 pm31 1:23 am
DTD ,how do you know he didn’t have a lanyard on”bundge”,lol.Anywho you have made your despleasure known,NOW GO GET LAYED and SMOKE A FATTY !!!LOL
December 28, 2007 pm31 1:54 am
I’d be willing to throw Koivu and Huet to Tampa along with Ryder for Lecavier – that sounds like a realistic offer to me. Tampa needs a number one man in nets and Koivu fills the hole that Vinny would leave better then most. Saku is having a tough time really getting going this year and, while Price still needs some work, he would more then do as our number one.
December 28, 2007 pm31 4:28 pm
why can’t they put ryder on the powerplay since we know he can’t play defence, or play and up and down system where he has a player play defense for him, maybe then he’ll get going
December 28, 2007 pm31 9:15 pm
Ryder is playing well tonight.. Maybe a boost of confidence will do him good..
Reminds me of the clamor to trade the “Slow” Portuguese guys.. Maybe the decision makers are the slow ones.. Yes Ryder has his defensive struggles.. Maybe some real coaching would help.. And a little confidence..
Sorry I like the guy..
December 28, 2007 pm31 9:23 pm
huet is #1.The guys play with more confidence with huet in nets.
December 28, 2007 pm31 9:25 pm
Yeah I agree, but with only a one year contract maybe the writings been on the wall from the beginning of the season. He’s been a streaky player, but the fair trade value on him (considering the contract situation) is a low first round pick. To achieve that we have to play him, get him some stats, he needs pp time.
December 28, 2007 pm31 10:22 pm
Kovalev sucks on the PP lately. He gave up the puck 3 times on the 4 min PP tonight..
December 28, 2007 pm31 11:24 pm
It has been fun in florida.go habs go.
December 28, 2007 pm31 11:52 pm
Two wins in Florida and 7 out of a possible 10 points on the christmas road trip……………………….and Ryder scored a goal! Ladies and Gentlemen hell has indeed frozen over. Although I loved that “I’m so smart” self-satisfied look on Carbo’s face after Koustopolous scored the fourth goal. Kinda funny
December 29, 2007 pm31 12:27 am
A great holiday present for all Habs fans, hell even Ryder scored”that won’t happen for another 15 games”Gooooo Habs!
December 29, 2007 pm31 1:01 am
They were out shot AGAIN but all in all a good road trip thus far. O’Byrne starting to use he size a bit more tonight GOOD TO SEE .Maybe the turning point of the season and for Ryder…. lets hope so. GO HABS GO
December 29, 2007 pm31 3:21 am
Ryder looked very good today, hopefully that sticks. 3-1-1 now on this road trip with a planned tromping in New York on Sunday
December 29, 2007 pm31 9:22 am
Trade Price, Ryder and someone else.(fill in blank)O for Lecavalier or Ovechkin..that’s right I said it>? Why ? Cause Huet is a freakin superstar and would be twice as good if he played ALL the games..his save percentage is nearly tops in the leage..that is the only true stat which tells you how good your goalie is…he is outshot everygame and he rarely if ever lets in more than 2 goals and his % is always 930 or over…he;s another allstar, who is 31..not 40 which means he is in his prime and could be a star for another 5-6 years!..we don;t need Price…we have a reliable back up in halak….Be realistic….in order yo get that superstar power forward we all know we need..we have to be prepared to give up someone huge!…I love price but hes young and unproven in the nhl….but Huet is a superstar//so play his *** all the time,, bring up halak and offer price to get the superstar we always dreamed…of…many of you will call me crazy but it’s time we played for the “now” (next 3 years) instead of the future..i don’;t care how good price will be….we arne’;t gonna win a cup building around him with the clowns we have up front
December 29, 2007 pm31 11:55 am
Price wouldn’t be enough for either of those 2.
December 29, 2007 pm31 11:56 am
oh, and where are all the haters?
December 29, 2007 pm31 1:31 pm
Iceburg14, in order to get Lecavalier or OVECHKIN ,we would have to give up
rice,Higgins,Saku and Komasarik and throw Ryder in just to sweetin the pot.
December 29, 2007 pm31 6:07 pm
O’Byrne out with a broken thumb. He was sent back to Montreal today.
December 29, 2007 pm31 9:57 pm
Toronto is being blown away by NYR tonight. yahoo!
December 30, 2007 pm31 1:32 am
And Ottawa took a crazy loss to Washington – good for us, we just need to stomp the Rangers tomorrow!
December 30, 2007 pm31 2:04 am
Tampa isn’t going anywhere without goaltending…they have to be interested. I don’t think it would cost that much. Mind you Patrick Marleau in San Jose is a sleeper…Ryder might be the right bait.
Also, Washington would be looking for some draft picks and goaltending help. The Rangers are coming around…wonder which Habs team will show up.
I also think that Koivu would be better off some where else and shipping him and Ryder might be the right mix to bring in a top forward and draft picks.
Besides got to give the young guns the time and space to play and shine. That’s why we got them. So give them the opportunity. Let’s go….keep it up and press forget the lay back and let them keep coming. Teams like Ottawa, Carolina, Anaheim, NJersey and Detroit will eat them alive. Go Habs Go!
December 30, 2007 pm31 2:56 am
don’t trade koivu hes been a solid player on this team for the past 12 years.
and great game last night scoring from every line !
December 30, 2007 pm31 12:28 pm
Ithink it’s time to trade Kovalev while he’s having a very good season along with Ryder and Huet. There’s good trade bait there FOR A GREAT BIG POWER FOWARD.
December 30, 2007 pm31 1:06 pm
Lets win against Newyork and go farther away from toronto and Boston in the standings. Last year we sucked in the middle of the season and this year we have two good wins after christmas and lets keep it going!
