Bruin Crushers
-
The Canadiens play the Bruins tonight where they look for their 8th consecutive victory against them.

Much like New Jersey “has our number”, the Canadiens just seem to have the Bruins. Since blowing a 3-1 playoff series lead against the Canadiens the Bruins have never been able to out play the Canadiens.
That being said, the Bruins are just 4 points behind Montreal and not to be taken lightly. A Habs win tonight will tie the Senators (and possibly Flyers) for most road wins in the Eastern Conference.

- nilan : D'Agostini looked like an NHLer saturday night. Thats more than I can say for the last 2 seasons of latendresse. For what its worth, I think its too soon to talk trades- this is a WAY talented team, but only have a handful of guys playing with heart. Oh, and I like Komisarek on the ice better than behind the bench!
- Habs Blog : flu kicked my ass
- Mats Naslund : *the pros. These players just need to step it up. They did it last year.
- Mats Naslund : I would agree that having Markov as the point shot on the PP has been a failure. He is much more effective as a set up man. The Habs could absolutely use the Souray and Streit type shot on the point (but they couldn't afford to keep those guys). It would be nice if someone from within could fill that spot, be it Tanguay, Lang or Andrei Kostitsyn or whoever. Sergei played that spot on the PP with Kane and Gagner in Junior and lit it up. I'm not sure if he has the velocity to make it happen in t
- habs#1fan : All I was saying is that I myself believe we need those players (the centerman and the D-man) to help us now. I'm no expert by no means, am I wrong? Quite possibly. But that D-man would help our struggling PP. This team is deep in prospects which would make a deal easier to do. But yeah given the team's record so far maybe status quo would be best. GO HABS GO
- Mats Naslund : I think this would be a terrible time to make a trade. We need to see these players handle this adversity. To get value you need to trade value, and right now its a buyers market in Montreal. If there are team needs closer to the playoffs then Gainey will have to make a move, but don't sell the farm in desperation.
- habs#1fan : I know everyone is sick of hearing this including myself, however I do think the time to make a deal would be now. I don't know who is on the block but we still need another center and a PP D-man with a big shot. We have got a lot of good prospects, Max Pac, Chipchura, Maxwell, White, D'Agostini not to mention the junior and college players.
- Senet1 : Well I understand your thinking groundworking, I guess I just choose to look at this team as a team that will build to the playoffs. I do not necessarily see us finishing first in the division but Carbo has to prepare them for the PO. I just hope that I am right!
- groundworking : I hope you're right, Senet, and positive attitudes never hurt. I guess my problem is that I don't see the rough stretch in the win/loss column as the main concern, but also the lack of effort in many of the games that they won early--squeaking out wins against lesser opponents, often in shootouts, and without much help from the PP. The killer instinct and the "something to prove" edge that they had last year just hasn't seemed to be there, with two exceptions: a pre-season against Detroit
- PACTUM SERVA : Dave morissette looks like a monkey lol.
- Senet1 : With due respect groundworking, I think you are jumping the gun. If we are going to panic everytime our team has a bad stretch then we might as well pack it in. This team is better than last years team on paper, they are just struggling right now. Let's stay positive. After a bad performance last night this is a game that the players may have started to doubt themselves. A win is a win and we always have had trouble with Buffalo.
- groundworking : I hate to be negative, but I broke down, watched the game, and I'm still panicked, lol--Buffalo is a weak team, they were 3-6-3 in their last ten, and this was a hard fought game by the Habs, at home, after a bad outing the night before...oh, and S. Kostitsyn took two selfish penalties...and the PP didn't score on a 5-3 for two mins. Sorry to be so negative. I just think they don't have it this year
- Senet1 : If Carbo has lost the dressing room then these guys do not deserve to be in the NHL, he coaches the way he plays and he would not ask anyone to do something that he would not do. The players better get over it. Maybe based on tonight they are starting to get the point??
- Mats Naslund : MUCH better 2nd period tonight. Almost looks like the Canadiens we've been looking for for a month. Great goal by Markov from Koivu. We should always play 4 on 4.
- PACTUM SERVA : GO HABS GO
- groundworking : I expect a decent effort tonight, and then I expect them to choke the next game and possibly the game after that. Someone suggested that Carbo's lost the dressing room. That's a good point. Hard to say. Something's wrong, though. I plan NOT to watch the game, as I've just been getting frustrated this year with their play (unlike the last two years).
- habs#1fan : Carbo demotes the Kostitsyns to the fourth line but yet he leaves Latalentless (to quote Mr Pactum lol) on the second line? Now cmon Guy, I know he's got the same name as you and all but he hasn't done squat to be on the second line. Did that guy even play last night? Then again who really did? Glad to see D'Agostini play maybe bring some energy and fight
- flyinghab : I don't even want to talk about tonite's game ... it can be also be ugly in front of the home crowd. Carbo is becoming a broken record with his speeches now. Has he lost the dressing room ?
- flyinghab : Last year was an extremely lucky year. No injuries, kovy on good year ( 1 outta 4 ), therefore the habs were a bunch of overachievers. This year reality has struck. If we could buy some "heart" Gainey should invest.
- flyinghab : Wow... after watching part of this horrid game, I'm thinking with this team we'll be fortunate to even make the playoffs this year. So sad. Get Bob on the line please.
- PACTUM SERVA : No effort no heart no balls. This team is like watching paint dry. Gutless effort. Maybe their tampons were bothering them tonight.
- Mats Naslund : wow terrible game. i'm not mad right now, i think i'm just revolted. they did nothing for 60 minutes. uninspired, uncoordinated, and unproductive. i didn't even like how carbo coached the game. totally disgusting night.
- VanHab : later
- groundworking : lol agreed -- ill talk to you later
- VanHab : certainly makes for a better Friday night than watching the rest of this horrible game
- groundworking : They've had worse teams, but none that worked less than these guys
- groundworking : I've followed the Habs religiously since 1985, this is the slackest team that they've had since then
- VanHab : lol groundworking
- VanHab : a change has to come and soon
- groundworking : I've stopped watching the game--I posted here to rant and now I'm going to do something I enjoy more, like shovel dog crap off my back lawn
- VanHab : I can't believe we're being shutout by Theodore
- groundworking : Even October when we were winning, the team was just barely squeaking by against some really bad teams
- groundworking : pathetic
- groundworking : no digging for the puck
- VanHab : not the way we've been playing the whole month of November

The Eastern Conference is very congested right now, we definitely could use these two points. We also need Buffalo to stomp Ottawa and Tampa Bay to shut down that Pittsburgh winning streak
January 10, 2008 pm31 6:58 pm
Everyone must remember that the Bruins are due for a win against us and this may be the time …Just when we need the wins and points …if they do lets hope this does not start a slide like last year…GO HABS GO
All in all though i think we have a great chance tonight…
January 10, 2008 pm31 7:27 pm
Boo Ovechkin just signed a multi-year contract with the Caps …
GO HABS GO!!! Tonight against Boston ….
January 10, 2008 pm31 7:55 pm
I really hope Ryder pisses off Chara, lol
January 10, 2008 pm31 9:09 pm
Ryder has an assist all ready tonight … figures you would still talk him down, the guy is not having a great season but has been playing alot better as of late, just another so caled fan that makes nothing but negative comments.
January 10, 2008 pm31 9:18 pm
Just look at his stats he plays better in the second half. No he won’t get to 30 goals but if he plays like he has lately then it will only benefit us on the playoff run. A player like him can make the difference for us this year …HERES TO A GREAT SECOND HALF FROM RYDER AND THE REST.. GO HABS GO
January 10, 2008 pm31 9:21 pm
Ovechkin signs for 13 year 124 million.. Wow!!
So much for coming to Mtl
January 10, 2008 pm31 9:26 pm
Don,did you even see his assist?Dude, Higgens DID THE WORK there man! Your listening to the game on radio?Aren’t you! And I’ll have you know I bleed the Hab colours and been doing it for almost 50 years and that’s why I don’t put up with mediocrity. Now you on the other hand just don’t care ,as long as it has a C.H. ON IT.Do yourself a favor and watch the movie “Rocket” untill you get it ,ok,and then start posting again.lol
January 10, 2008 pm31 9:44 pm
No I watch it on HDTV thanks … and I saw the movie has nothing to do with the present, what is past is gone forever and cannot be changed.. And at your age I would think you would be mature enough to not cry and whine like a baby al the time about everything.
January 10, 2008 pm31 9:59 pm
Well Don if you turn the Bride down you ‘ll be able to take off your rose coloured glasses and why with H.D.T.V you can’t see the obvious should concern you.Nice goal by Huey Don,lol.

January 10, 2008 pm31 10:07 pm
Mike Komisarek IS HITTING EVERYONE…. LOOKS LIKE A MAN ON A MISION
January 10, 2008 pm31 10:09 pm
Rose colored ? Right the Habs have the 3rd best offence in the league right now, 2 of the best of defence, the player with the most points on the power play, the best power play , 2 good ( even very good ) goalies and youngs talent that is starting to really play well …. and they are one of the best teams on the road… wait would we be happy with that ?? Get a clue will ya they are doing alot better then most anyone would have given them at the start of the season.
January 10, 2008 pm31 10:14 pm
PS: Here in Canada we spell bright and light and night … we are not in the USA here George Dubba !
January 10, 2008 pm31 10:17 pm
And where is Ryder in all of that? And you think improvements shouldnt be made in the second half, when all the other clubs will be fine tuning,eh…WAKE UP DON CARNAGE!!
January 10, 2008 pm31 10:23 pm
Never said there was not room to improve , who said we are not looking for players? Bob himself has said he see’s places he would like to improve and if needed would look outside to fill those needs, Where did I say we dont need to do anything? Ryder best goal scorer we had 2 years in a row .. one bad season and of course we need to hang him, your a fair weather fan at best and not a very good one either.
January 10, 2008 pm31 10:28 pm
Another fine goal by HUEY .You suck HUET,but Don will kiss your Butt Buddy.lol
January 10, 2008 pm31 10:46 pm
Well it’s nice to see our Habs givin back the shots and Komasarik is the man
January 10, 2008 pm31 11:05 pm
Dandenault yes. a juggernaut. Komisarek, can he dish it out , or what?
what a physical game. I was afraid some habs were going to get hurt bad physically. 8-0 and counting. that’s the nimber of times in a row we’ve beaten Boston. Too bad we can’t play them 82 games.
January 10, 2008 pm31 11:43 pm
Excellent game tonight, great all-around effort. Dandy looked good with those two clinchers, eh?
Everyone else won today too (N.J., Pittsburgh, Philly. Ottawa) but we’re looking very strong - first in the conference is no where near out of our grasp
January 11, 2008 pm31 12:17 am
habs are the reason bruins win’t make the playoffs.
hey leafs down 4-0 at the end of the 1st period in LA,(the worst team in the league). excellent!
January 11, 2008 pm31 12:42 am
Amazing game tonight by our boys! You’re right, Chris, everyone else won that needed the points and stay stable in the conference. I always love watching Boston-Montreal games. There’s so much intensity and hatred. I’d love to see a 8-game series sweep against them this year!
With their awesome play on the road this season, do you think it would be a good idea to have home ice advantage in the playoffs? I mean, the only games they won in their last series against Carolina were on the road. Just a thought.
January 11, 2008 pm31 1:24 am
5-1 Kings at the end of the second now…wow! At this point in the season I wouldn’t mind not having home-ice advantage going into the playoffs. I’m hoping our home woes will pass by then though
January 11, 2008 pm31 1:58 am
How bout this trade Frank Boullion,Ryder, Cory Lock and Huet for Mats Sundin,eh?
January 11, 2008 pm31 2:51 am
that’s just unethical
January 11, 2008 pm31 4:07 am
Never. The Leafs would never make a huge deal like that with the habs. Too much rivalry.
It would be hard to deal Sundin to a Cup contender like Detroit or San Jose. Draft picks wouldn’t mean as much and those teams would want to keep their good players for the run at the Cup.
January 11, 2008 pm31 7:42 am
hate Sundin any way I don’t care If hes good. I hate him! Plekanec will probably be a #1 Centre next year he’s gonna get 72 pts this year and probably around 80 next year. Michael Ryder is just a lil too fancy some times but I still think that he’ll be good in the playoffs. I have a feeling that if we’re still 4th or 5th, he might trade away a couple of draft picks to get a rental.
January 11, 2008 pm31 7:43 am
I’m talking about bob near the end lol.
January 11, 2008 pm31 8:25 am
Mats in a Habs uniform would be like two Kovalev’s (which night would he show up)….and for those 4 players…nah fogedaboutit!!
Now the Habs have been playing well but it’s because of the sisters. When push comes to shove, it’s the same team….(when they play the more aggressive, tight checking, strong offensive…they lose their focus and goals happen quickly). As of late, their scoring 3, 4, 5 goals a game…that’s remarkable. They are finishing the plays and scoring. That’s been their biggest hole, not finishing plays. So will they keep this up…check it out the young guns are contributing. And Kovalev is plugging away (which should be the case he’s being paid to do so and given all kinds of accolades - Show me the points!!!) The power play has not slowed down. Therefore, so long as the goalies hold the fort, they should win games. Some soft goals but with the scoring touch of late, those shaky goals are sort of demagnified. Keep the good habits. Lots of good hits, setting each other up and shots at the net, and finishing off the goal opportunities. So far so good! Keep it up. Go Habs Go!
January 11, 2008 pm31 10:27 am
Hey All, Here is my little resume of a few of the Habs, let me know what you think.
Kovalev: Playing as expected when traded to Montreal and I think he’s doing even more.
Koivu: Disapointing with all the penalties that he’s getting. I would expect more than that from him. Some games he’s nowhere to be found. So games, he’s outstanding.
A. Kostynsin: Much better since his brother moved up.
S. Kostynsin: Confident, but hi game result depends of Koivu.
Latendre: Big chicken ****… But at least he doesn’t miss too many open nets. Bu honestly, should not be on the first line.
Markov: He has one bad game out of 10, almost cannot ask for more and he deserves the all start.
Komisarek: Wow, wow, wow, Hope he get at least a 6 Milions $$$ contract cuz he’s worth it.
Bouillon: Heart.
Hamerlik: He’s up there, he had max 3 bad games but all around stable. Brought a much better deffensive since he came to Montreal. I don’t care if he can’t score on powerplay, since Kovalev, Plakanec, Streit picked it up.
Brisebois: Only player in the NHL that can score a goal like he did against Chicago. But from what I can see in most of the games that he plays, more turnovers and plus.
Higgins: Always gives a second and third effort.
Lapierre: Good 3rd liner, works hard 90% of the time.
Streit: Very surprising and wish that he will remain with Montreal and get even better.
Huet: Don’t know what to say anymore. Some game, he is amazing and does amazing saves and keeps the team in the game. And some other game, he’ll let in the ugliest goal possible and brings the team spirit down and could cause a lost. But in general, I think we are a little to hard on him.
Carbonneau: Not sure yet. Last game against Boston or the one right before, there was lots of fights, Bruins were going after our good players and last night, Carbo leaves him out of the allignement. Pretty stupid if you ask me.
In general, Montreal is playing much better than we probably all thought they would do but most games, I love what I’m seing.
January 11, 2008 pm31 4:24 pm
It looks like I’m not going to be watching the All-star game. I was expecting Kovalev,Huet or Koivu to be there also but nope. They put in scott gomez instead of Alex Kovalev! Kovalev is a fancy player and would be exciting to watch. what’s so exciting about Scott Gomez?
January 11, 2008 pm31 8:17 pm
does anyone know about a comparable site for leafs fans? might be fun for a laugh
January 11, 2008 pm31 10:19 pm
not putting kovalev in the all-star game is bull. he deserves to be there.
January 12, 2008 pm31 10:33 am
Yo , the Leafs are done like yesterdays dinner and their facing a ten year rebuilding program with a bargain basement sell-off ….so I figure they got what we need to win the cup and in Toronto’s past loosing years for all those Hab fans that don’t remember ,this is when a majority of their fans start cheering for the Habs ….Know your History peoples and oh ya ,have a little charity ,eh.Think of all the little Leaf fans left in the dark….so let’s take what we need and get a bigger fan base in the process and grab that Stanley Cup and put it where it belongs ,MONTREAL,QUEBEC,CANADA.
January 12, 2008 pm31 1:57 pm
well said xtrahabsfan. wouldn’t it be great if we could win all 4 games on this roadtrip? grind those rangers into the ground.
