Bring on Boston

The Canadiens welcome a team tonight they’ve beat 5 straight times this year. A team they’ve pretty much owned overall for the past few seasons.

Good news, right?

Well they happen to play on home ice tonight, where the Canadiens can’t seem to put together any kind of winning streak. The Habs have the fewest home wins in the entire NHL.

Despite beating the Bruins every game this year, they are only 3 points ahead of Boston. The Divisional ‘4 point game’ cliche applies very much to tonight’s game.

Dats right bring on da Big Bad Bruins. I’m in da mood fer bear. Fried up wit a bit of onions, some spices……..

I hope dat “Bigfoot” Chara gets his ass kicked tonight. He looks like an adult playing wit a bunch of peewees on the ice.

All the fans in Montreal should shout “Bigfoot” everytime he steps out onto the ice.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Chara meet his match but I’m not sure any of the Habs could pull it off. Komisarak maybe, but Chara is a monster!

I’ve got high hopes for tonight’s game - let’s go Habs!

Okay my #1 pet peeve, and this is not directed at you specifically habsofthefuture, but I’m sick of people who have their opinion criticized getting all shrill about ‘their right to express their own opinion’. No kidding! We all know that we can all express our own opinion, we live in a free country, but if your going to post here don’t get all pissy about people calling your idea stupid, because guess what? that’s THEIR OPINION! So go ahead and trash what I say, I trash what people say all the time, that’s what makes this a fan’s forum, and by the way let’s lighten up tonight, we’re whipping the BROOONS

Great game. It was nice to see So many players playing well, especially Ryder (it might get his market value up), Kovalev, A. Kostitsyn, Begin, Lapiere and Komisarek. I just hope this doesn’t get people thinking Ryder should stick around, it’s too late for a soon to be UFA. So, overall I was surprised how well they came out to start the game and that they played 60 minutes of hockey. The only negative for me was that even when the team played so great and everyone was flying, Koivu still seemed lost and disinterested.

The trouble is in a game with this result especially goals going in from everywhere and anywhere, you get this overjoyed rose coloured perspective…All of a sudden we are cup contenders…Whoa!!! this is the same team that didn’t put any effort vs the Rangers, Thrashers & Penguins, so while the win feels good, ensure the same effort will come out against stronger teams. Take the points just the same and move on to the next. Go Habs Go!

Listen Habs BRO’s, you want to see Koivu play with fire ,eh, well give he and Higgins a spark plug kind of player that’s consistent and watch what happens, just imagine The Habs with a real first line that produces like a first line should and the Kovi 2nd line the way it is and if Huet can just stay like the way he’s been the last couple of games, well…LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!

There is no trouble at all from a game like this .

Michael Ryder also scored for Montreal in the first as each of the Canadiens’ four lines contributed a goal against Alex Auld, who only stopped three of seven shots.

“I thought all four lines clicked well and played well and we worked hard and got some bounces,” Kostopoulos said. “It was nice to get everyone involved.”

Yep all 4 lines light the lamp in the first… fire that bum Carbo right now! And trade everybody or put them all on waivers !! Give them away for free !!

No way Selane will come to Montreal although it would be nice. But I think that Koivu will end up where Selane will go. As for Ryder, hopefully it brings up it’s Value, but he can’t stay in Montreal. I rather seing a Chipchura develloping in Montreal than a player showing up to the game once out of 6 games. One more power forward should do the trick, we have so many youngsters why not give Ryder and a first and second round pick for a star, I think Montreal can afford not having a first round pick for this year. Anyhow, in the end Go Habs Go…

behind the bench. Could it be that he is coming into his own as a coach, or am I
just not seeing enough of the games? Unfortunately, I did happen to catch most
of Huet’s gaffes. I still think he’s solid between the pipes - I just hope he stays there

Stay the course steady as she goes … keep eyes open for rogue trade if possible, no need to panic here, Carbo is gaining experience just like the young guns we have on the ice, We were not even supposed to be in the top ten but for now we are holding our own, its always close in the east and its not over yet. Making trades in todays NHL is no easy feat… but I get the feeling someing is on way …

Atta boy Guy…..Ryder back with Koivu and Higgins. Now don’t go panicking if they don’t score next game against the Devs and end up benching Ryder again, or sticking him on the 4th line with limited ice time.
Leave this line alone and let em get their groove back from last year, and they will contribute and help out Kovy/Plek/Kost line with some goals of their own. Good to see Ryder getting some PP time again too….seeing how 18 or 20 of his goals last year came with the man advantage. Our boys are playing well, keep on rolling…..Ottawa and first place in the conference are only 6 pts away with a home-n-home coming up next month, and Ottawa’s big 3 have ailments. I think they can beat the Sens now with the way we’re playing. Can ya feel it fellow Hab patrions? Woohoo….GO HABS GO !!!

If the Lines would have to change again I would try this. Koivu/and the 2 Kostisyn’s. Plakanex/Kovalev/Higgins. Latendresse/Lapierre/Ryder. And whom ever is in the line up on the 4th line. That would be the best that I can see. The 2 brothers are amazing together. And Higgings would produce again with Kovalev and Thomas.

Donnie, Carbo was more than patient enough with Ryder. He was on one of the top two units most of the time that he was playing like crap. I hope Ryder plays great now too, but he won’t re-sign in Montreal, so his time in Montreal should end before the trade deadline.

Posted on January 24th, 2008 at 12:17 pm. About 'Bring on Boston'.

I agree Barrie. I can’t see Ryder signing here again next year. The only reason, my guess is, that he’s back on that line is to showcase him to other teams to try and get something for him before the deadline. It’s a shame too….I like Ryder.
The point I was making was the amount of time he’s getting as compared to Koivu. Koivu’s not playing like crap ? This is the most uneffective I have ever seen him play. He’s invisible every game, not producing any points, and is a nonfactor almost every game….yet, he still gets all this time. As a matter of fact, Koivu is still playing like crap while getting all the advantages of playing with top players, and getting PP and PK time….Ryder has been doing it for half the season so far on a bottom line, playing with no one, or sitting in the pressbox with no where close to the special teams time the captain is getting.
Ryder is playing like crap, but everfyone seems to forget how much of a let down Koivu’s been also. I want Ryder to get traded and hope our Habs get someone to really help this squad while letting Ryder blossom somewhere else…this guys career is far from over…with the right centerman he’s got more than 30 a year in his stick.
I also like Koivu, but its time to be realistic and call a spade a spade. He’s really not helping the effort on the ice, moreso this year than other years. How about sticking him on the fourth line with Smolinski and see if he’s got enough skills to help out defensively, cuz offensively he’s not up to the challenge no matter what amount of ice-time he’s getting or who he’s playing with.
On another note…we got Jersey tonight. Gotta solve the Brodeur puzzle tonight. Those are big points up for grabs, and they’re only getting bigger as the season goes on. Lets go boys, pull together, make out its Boston we’re playing here, and bury the Devs. GO HABS GO !!!
