Win

If the Canadiens want to be seriously considered in the same class as Ottawa, and challenge for the Division and Conference, all they have to do is beat them.
Prove it on the ice. Show Ottawa you are for real and you’re coming for them.
If the Canadiens are not fired up for this game then they don’t deserve to be where they are.
The Habs have two meetings with the Senators in five days and things could get very interesting.

- goalie : I am more than a little concerned that the Lafs exposed Halak's inability to stop a player who dekes to Halak's glove hand side. He played those dekes very poorly.
- rocky : The leafs played a strong game and have some pretty deadly shootout threats. We did not lose anyone to injury and that game could have went either way. Now how is that for a positive spin on things eh?
- rocky : I hate to admit this, but I think Andrei Kostitsyn is poised to break his slump. He still skates like a turd, but I just have a feeling. If we get out of this game with no major injuries to key players I will be happy win or lose.
- Senet1 : Mst's I think if they can sign Markov to an extension then they can make move on some of the other defenceman before they become UFA. Hammer is a prime example and likewise so is Gil. Somehow I feel that there is something wrong with a one year contract like Mara's where he can be paid for not playing due to injury and then the team pays his bills and he can leave and go UFA without making up the salary. To me a contract should force a player to play a minimum of 50 games or healthy scatches
- Senet1 : Jagr is a strange player, lots of talent but he has lost his heart and all it is about is money. Edmonton would be better off using the money elsewhere.
- goalie : Rumor has it that the Oilers will be signing Jaromir Jagr to a very $$$$ 3 year contract. Makes sense because Jagr doesn't really want to play on a team that is a contender....so Oilers are a good possibility.
- goalie : I agree with Senet. Plex has been our best player this year. He hasn't been hurt for any long periods and he has done the job. He deserves to be our highest paid player. I sure hope that Markov rebounds next year. I find the Russian players very hard to read as to how they like it on a team and what their plans are going to be.
- Senet1 : To me it is hard not to pay Plex at least Cammy's money. He won't score as many goals but game in and game out Plex has been there and really, he has stayed healthy????
- Mats Naslund : Kesler $5m for 6 years.. 1 point seperates him and Plex in the standings.. Pretty good benchmark?
- Mats Naslund : I guess La presse is reporting that PG is talking extension with Markov's people.
- Mats Naslund : Boston and NY did us a huge solid last night by blowing it. 1 point out of 5th with 11 games to go.
- Mats Naslund : Might be a little sneaky, but what if we made Markov the captain - he would have a hard time leaving as a UFA. Hammrlik's $$ is Markov's in a year. We'll have the $$ to sign him and another UFA. I think I also like BUF in the first round although Miller scares the bajezus out of me. NJ after that.
- Senet1 : may lose him to UFA?? We make up the cap space with Laraque's salary, and the trade of one of are large defenceman salaries.
- Senet1 : There are four contracts that are a must for our GM needs to get done. Plek we need to give him a raise say $5.5M Our two goalies each in the neighbourhood $3M but perhaps the more important contract is Markov's he is not a UFA this year but if we agreed to renegoitate his contract a year earlier for say a raise to $6M next year and $7M for two more years then we may be able to get hims signed for at least 3 or 4 more years. If we let his contract expire and he become a UFA in 2011 then we may
- Senet1 : In fact I knew that I had to play washington, I would rather take them out in the first round.
- Senet1 : Well the one thing that does not matter is our record against any of these teams during the season. This is a much different team than the one we saw play during the majority of the season. Secondly, if I was going to pick a team to play it would be one with weaker goaltending. Right now if I had to pick it would either be Pittsburg or NJ although Washington can be had if Theodore does not play above his head. I believe that any team that can score 4 goals a game has a chance to beat Washing
- goalie : NJ would be my second choice followed by Pens OR Caps - don't think it much matters. No easy pickings Habs!
- goalie : Well the good news is that we're playing much better now than at times during the year. The Habs MUST play their bestagainst ANY of these teams to have a chance. We lost three staraight to the Pens, the Caps scare me because they have talent, NJ have improved greatly but we have played well vs them. I think we only beat Buf once but all but one game was very close. I guess I'd take my chances vs ther Sabres as I think our style matches up well against them.If we could beat Miller we could win.
- Mats Naslund : Unless we see a miracle, MON will be a 5-8 seed. So who between WAS, PIT, BUF, or NJ do you want in the 1st round?
- Mats Naslund : Metro is 35. I cant see them giving more than 1yr. He definitely deserves a spot next year though.
- Avatar37 : Senet - I agree, Metropolit is impressive and Metro and Moen always seem to come up clutch. I really hope they sign him to a 3-4 year deal.
- goalie : Isn't it a lot more interesting and fun when our team is playing well and on a run!
- Senet1 : So we have a good third line the fourth line is playing responsible hockey and the first line is generating offense as well as controling the play. Plek is playing hard and still managing to get a goal here and there so if Cammy can get back maybe we have four solid lines. Right now Martin is rolling the four lines well and I think we are tiring out the other teams.
- Senet1 : I also am impressed with our fourth line Metro, Lapierre and Darche. They are playing some productive minutes killing time and tieing up the other team in their zone.
- Senet1 : This line sort of reminds me of the Gainey line, they always scored the big goals in tight games. Believe it or not when the game was tied 1-1 I thought is is about time our third line got a goal and a few minutes later they did. It is become a regular thing this line.
- rocky : Moore brings great puck possession in the offensive zone and Segie can finish plays. Nice to watch, they are smoking third lines on other teams right now.
- Senet1 : I agree his brother is working out really well with Moore and Moan. They have offensive abilities and at the same time are very responsible defensively.
- rocky : He has talent you know, but just no intensity or desire for hockey at this stage. He should watch his brother right now and do his best to emulate him.
- rocky : That would s*ck. They should sit his ass.
- Senet1 : Yea I agree, because if not either Pyatt or Darche will be sent back down maybe both?
- goalie : I must say I'm impressed with ther attitude , effort and quality of play the Habs are exhibiting. I didn't think they'd pull it off this year. A playoff spot is certainly there for the taking. WAY TO GO BOYS and KEEP IT UP. Thius is a whole lot better team for the fans to be cheering on also!!!
- rocky : He has no DESIRE out there and that is such a killer when every other guy out there is really playing hard as hell.
- rocky : In my mind we would lose nothing whatsoever by sitting him and giving a rookie a shot. Especially when Cammalari returns.
- Senet1 : yea really, just when his brother starts to play well he disappears completely. Is he playing injured, if so he should sit out and get well.
- rocky : Oh my god, if you are looking for negatives right now that is the place to start. He is not even trying to skate. Did you even notice him other than his badly timed penalties?

Go Habs Go!!! If they are ever coming in 1st place this year, this game shows it! Everyone win is very valuable from here on end. Habs, u you guys have to pull this off to make sure you don’t get into a slump!!!
February 5, 2008 pm29 4:20 pm
Our no 1 line must do thier thang tonite !
February 5, 2008 pm29 4:48 pm
Price should start vs. the leafs. Huet’s can’t win vs. the leafs even though they are laffs
But if he get the win let him start unless he faces’ too many shots
February 5, 2008 pm29 5:13 pm
Any word on who is getting the start tonight? I thought maybe Price would be in seeing as Huet played the two games on the weekend.
February 5, 2008 pm29 5:59 pm
Yeah I think Price is gonna start. But maybe they should start huet today and start Price vs. the leafs because then the leafs are not an offensive theat so if Price gets the win he will have confedence
February 5, 2008 pm29 6:45 pm
Price will not start against Ottawa!? Are you kidding. You’re going to start a rookie goalie in the most important game this season? Huet starts tonight and Price get’s the Leafs on Thursday.
February 5, 2008 pm29 6:52 pm
actually I would prefer to see Price, because Huet has been letting in alot of goals lately. Price plays on Thursday against the leafs, and if he plays well, then I’d play him till we lose because Huet is running out of gas.
Briseshit is playing for Hamrlik. Like trading your house for a tent.
February 5, 2008 pm29 6:54 pm
Habs#1 is correct, Guy Carbonneu said that Huet will get the start tonignt and Carey price might start on thursday.(He said something like that anyways.
February 5, 2008 pm29 7:57 pm
saving Price for the Laffs
February 5, 2008 pm29 8:22 pm

CAN YOU SAY HEEEELLLLL OF A GOAL…..
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:07 pm

February 5, 2008 pm29 9:09 pm

February 5, 2008 pm29 9:20 pm
that kinda screwed up the page didnt it?…ha ha
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:21 pm
So far so good. Great start now lets see if they can keep it up for a full game…Wonder if Spezza wishes Souray was still on the blue line for him to go around and not KOMMI that will put him through the wall… lol
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:25 pm
Boy ,,that was nice to see a “special look at european influence in the NHL”….i cant wait until we get our first “E.T” in the NHL….maybe a reptilian or “grey” alien…the announcer may do somthing like,…”hes got the puck ..he over the blue line”…’”WOW”!..he “shapeshifts and deeks the defence and spews poison in the gaolies eye and SCORES”!!!!!..
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:29 pm
Im gonna puke!..im sick of hearing announcers make excuese for the teams that are down like Ottawa, instead of giving credit for the play of the HABS!…Harry Neil is bad for that..always saying that there are breakdowns that result in goals instead of saying positive things about the team that scores..particularialy MONTREAL..it pisses me off!!!
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:32 pm
Good point HABSALLTHEWAY>..yes..i totlay agree that you cant just expect to go over the line like when “SLUSH FOOT” was playing..now they have to “KOMI kazee” and hope to not get shot down in flames!,,very good point!!!
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:37 pm
He his not the same with out his line mates… realy did not notice him in the first…
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:42 pm
What a shot by streit
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:42 pm
I really see the heart and passion Kovalev has redeveloped for the game this year and i think that the Kostitsyn brothers have given Kovalev a reason to play again..i think in my opinion he feels like a father figure and is teaching those young brothers to play a intelligent game of hockey…he really thinks he the granddaddy of the team..good for him!
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:42 pm
Woot
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:42 pm
STREIT SCORESSSSSS!!!!!!
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:43 pm
It’s good to see Kovalev playing good after his bad game against NYR
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:50 pm
Here we go again someone asks about a site that broad casts games..as i speak here watching the game on my computer and got the “live BLOg” going beside it…ok..LISTEN UP>..go to “P2P.eu..live broadcast” of games and down load SOPCAST!..then go to the website and register, then go to live sports(P2P.eu)..click on the stream you wish to use and enjoy..good idea to download..VLC videolan player..im using it now because the SOPCAST open the stream and no pic..use videolan and go to “FILE”, you hit HTTP type in 127.0..0.1:8902 in there. hit OK and watch the damn game!
February 5, 2008 pm29 9:50 pm

February 5, 2008 pm29 9:52 pm

February 5, 2008 pm29 9:56 pm
KOMMI IS A SMART HOCKEY PLAYER…WILL HIT ANYONE BUT KNOWS NOT OT WASTE HIS TIME FIGHTING A 6 MIN A GAME PLAYER IN NEIL….

February 5, 2008 pm29 9:59 pm
what a stop!…unreal!!!HUET!
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:00 pm

February 5, 2008 pm29 10:06 pm
HOW SWEET IS THIS!!!!!!!!GO HABS…..
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:10 pm
Yes…i think hes got his instruction from “grand master ” carboneau not to spend time in the box trading with Bobby clarkes “******* child”..the toothless wonder trying to work up “KOMI” but very good control og his temper…good point HABSALLTHEWAY!!
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:13 pm

February 5, 2008 pm29 10:40 pm
They get away from the physical game and look what happens!
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:51 pm
Koivo has to get his name on the score sheet some how and lately its not with goals …..
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:53 pm
This is what happens when 1st line isn’t producing goals.
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:55 pm
they got to take advantage of that transition play going against the grain!..thats how goals are scored! Ottawas going hard to the net with the pinching defence..take it to him hard going back!,,4 min to go..
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:55 pm
DOnt you mean 3rd line because that is how they are playing
February 5, 2008 pm29 10:57 pm

February 5, 2008 pm29 10:59 pm
WAY TO KEEP THEM IN HUET….
February 5, 2008 pm29 11:00 pm

Brisbrois did not cost us anything.
Bullion (however you spell it) cost us 2 goals. The first goal And the Third goal.
February 5, 2008 pm29 11:53 pm
1 point .
February 6, 2008 pm29 12:06 am
this is no longer Koivu’s team! Kovalev should be the captain because he is the leader . If it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t be where we are near the top of the standings. Koivu has now become a liability on this team, taking 1 bad penalty after another in 3rd periods. You know he wants out. just look at his body language and unhappy face. In the offseason, he should be traded. his time is done, along with Smolinski, Brisebois,Begin, Bouillon(who was brutal tonight), and Huet. I honestly think Koivu is jealous of Kovalev.
February 6, 2008 pm29 12:17 am
What indicates to you that Koivu is jealous of Kovalev? I agree he is not in top form and I wouldn’t be heartbroken to see him traded, but I’m assuming that you wouldn’t personally insult him without a reliable source?
February 6, 2008 pm29 12:44 am
I dont think he is jealous , but I do agree his time has come and that it is now we need to be fireing on all cylinders before we hit the playoffs, we need to find a new home for Ryder, Koivu … now
February 6, 2008 pm29 1:01 am
Oh and in passing Bobby Clack’s ******* child can play on my team any day of the week … anyday
February 6, 2008 pm29 1:10 am
Carbonneau should realize why Kovy-Pleks-Kostitsyn are playing well together.
This is what happens when you keep players playing on the same line.
Its called trust and getting used to playing with one another.
Did you see the passes tonight? Tic-Tac-Toe.
The main problem is Carbonneau gets so impatient he keeps juggling the other lines.
As a player I would get frustrated because you never know who you are playing with the next shift.
I was at the rangers game on sunday and one shift I saw kostoupolous playing on the line with koivu and higgens. wtf?
February 6, 2008 pm29 1:29 am
As good as the habs are playing right now, they won’t go anywhere in the playoffs with Koivu’s line playing the way it is. Absolutely invisible compared to the other three lines, except when Koivu took that absolutely ridiculous, lazy, idiotic penalty in the third. Very lucky that didn’t cost them the game.
February 6, 2008 pm29 1:30 am
I don’t know if the answer is to trade Koivu, or to move Ryder and get someone much better to play on his wing.
Personally I’d like to see both go, but I doubt a large roster change is in the cards.
February 6, 2008 pm29 5:41 am
Yeeeaaahhh!! What a win! And what a way to win it! I was covering my eyes in the last couple minutes, peeking thru my fingers. I saw the Sens 3rd goal coming as soon as that PP started. But they held on for a big win in regulation and now 1 point away from first… FIRST people! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
Price will most likely start Thursday cause we all know Huet can’t beat the Leafs(for some odd reason). Plus, Cris needs a break.
And as for Ryder, it looks like he’ll be traded this week. He packed up his equipment and left the Bell Centre on Sunday and I don’t even think he was at the game last night. Where will he go and who’ll we get? Calgary for Tanguay? Atlanta for Hossa? http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/mtl080204.html
Either way, we’re going to lose more than Ryder if Gainey’s after either of those players. Halak, Dandenault & Bouillon could potentially go as well. We’ll see what happens… Personally, I like Ryder and hope he stays on a Canadian team at the very least(just not the leafs).
February 6, 2008 pm29 9:16 am
Well all I gotta say about moving players, I’m sorry to say, I’ve got respect for him and all that he did for our city, but Koivu as got to go, he’s obviously not happy anymore in Montreal and keep not that he’s one of the most penalyzed player of the team.
On the other hand we know that Ryder wants to go, if he as no value at least get a draft pick for him cause he’s not giving much when he’s on the ice anyways.
We need to keep Bouillon, hitting fighting, rarely makes mistakes.
And on the last note… Franky Jay… Amazing scout, that can do great for the hans future.
Go Habs Go
February 6, 2008 pm29 9:48 am
Koivu was benched after his stupid penalty last night i think the coach is starting lose his patience with Koivu and its about time beacause even though I like Koivu hes been doin this BS all year.I dont know whats wrong with him but i seen it coming since his negative comments B4 the season.
Besides that this game had me bitting my finger nails in the 3rd period,i hate it when they get comfortable with the lead.
The Kovalev line looks auesome and can i say give me a hell yeah for streit were did he come from lol.
February 6, 2008 pm29 10:34 am
The problem with most die-hard habs fans is that they can’t see further than their own noses.
I’ve been screaming for Koivu’s dismissal from Montreal for the past 3-4 years now. He is not, nor has he ever been a true leader. Face it, he’s a second-line centreman at best. To prove my point, the games I’ve been to in Montreal the past 2-3 years, I make it a point to heckle Koivu every single time he touches the puck. It comes to a point where I’m sometimes scared for my own safety as I see all my fellow habs fans staring at me, probably wishing they could take me outside to the parking lot that very instant. I even had an empty coke container thrown at me during one of the games.
People in Montreal love Koivu, but it’s not for the right reasons. Yes, he’s been resilient, come back from cancer, a botched eye. Nobody will argue that he has a lot of heart, but he’s not a leader and not what Montreal needs. Montreal will NEVER, and I repeat, NEVER win (the cup) with Koivu on this team. What Montreal needs is a true first-line centre who is also a leader. Slap the C on him, because it’s been a long time that Koivu has lost the privilege of wearing it (IMO).
The other plays have lost faith in their captain (just look at how irresponsible he has been on the ice lately). I believe part of the reason Ryder and Higgins have been so sketchy this year isn’t because they aren’t good players, it’s simply because Koivu has been stinking up the joint.

I don’t really agree with some guys about trading Koivu,Ryder Dandenault,Boullion etc. because If we trade all those guys away and and get new guys, those guys won’t know Montreal that well. It’s good for a team to stay together. I would like to just see Ryder go to the West and get a winger but nothing more than that. Koivu is just having a bad season, but he could spark it up come playoff time.
February 6, 2008 pm29 11:37 am
Koivu is a playoff performer. He does have a habit of taking bad penalties and did so last night. Koivu and Higgins work well together and they are just having a mid season slump. Carbonneau should keep Sergei Kostitsyn on the line as they play well together. Also, Andrei Kostitsyn seems to make everyone he plays with better. double shift Andrei and play him with Lapierre and Latendresse.

Tell me this all you self-proclaimed Hockey Experts:
Why is Higgins & Koivu in a slump but Ryder a three year 25, 30 & 30 goal scorer should be thrown under a bus?
February 6, 2008 pm29 11:59 am
because hes on pace for an embarrasing 20-28 pts. Koivu and Higgins will end up with 60. And I’m not saying get rid of Ryder I’m just saying that If anyone does He’ll be the one.

Whatta night….woohoo……Habs beat the Sens to pull within 1 point, and the Leafs get beat up 8-0 by a Florida team with troubles scoring goals, hehe….welcome back Fletcher, you can start saving this team any time now, lol.
Well folks, we did it, BIG win last night, only a matter of time, I think, til we got first place…weather we hold it or not remains to be seen….but for now, we’re playing great hockey.
Only thing that concerns me at all is our 3rd periods. This has been our Achilles heel this year….weather it’s conditioning, getting too lax, lack of concentration to finish a game we’re winning, or coaching…this element of the game has to improve. At least 10 games this year have been lost in the 3rd period….our guys stop skating, and Huet looks very average…but I got all the confidence in the world that Guy and his crew will fix this as the season winds down.
Start looking at tapes Guy, as to why we seem to breakdown in the 3rd. This is a team with Heatley and Alfie in the lineup, and they almost came back from 3 down. If Guy analyzes this, I’m sure he’ll find the cause. Start here….how about keeping your best players on the ice. Kovy and his boys are by far your best players….arguably one of the best and most exciting lines in hockey right now. They make things happen every shift, work for the puck when it’s not theirs, and are playing well defensively as well. So why are these guys given limited ice time in the 3rd to make way for Begin and Smolinski? Not understanding that totally…when a lione is effective and we have 4 goals, don’t put your foot on the brake…keep it on the gas. Think of other teams final minute or so, who’s out there…Lecavalier, Morrow, Getlaf, Alfie…why do ya think these guys get empty net goals in their totals…we got Smo and Begin out there, and 3 goals lead are being squandered or almost lost because of it. Was a big win last night, but Ott made it too close when there was really no need for it.
Not a big thing though….there could be way bigger problems, and this one is easily fixed, I’m sure Guy will fix it. So lets look forward to the dirty Leafs on Thurs night….lets bury this joke of a squad…don’t let em do what they did to Ott the other night. Keep on rolling, playing your game…Kovy and the posse are playing at the very height of this league. But Koivu, Higgins…with or without Ryder, we’re gonna need you come playoff time…shake the cobwebs away, and bear down, cuz if anything was to happen to 1 member of Kovy’s line…we’re in trouble. GO HABS GO !!!

Liking everything I am seeing but I think a faceoff specialist should be a priority (Yanick Pearrault). Koivu lost a key faceoff fairly cleanly in the last minute of the game. I would not sell the future for a guy like Marian Hossa. We may have a shot at him in the summer for nothing but cash and besides if anyone watched the Atlanta highlights last night, Hossa was floating around doing nothing while Philadelphia was scoring.
February 6, 2008 pm29 2:37 pm
I think that Yannic Perrault would be a great asset for the habs. Then we’ll have 3 good face off men. Koivu, Smolinski and Perrault.
February 6, 2008 pm29 2:55 pm
We got rid of him once. It was for a reason right. We don’t need has beens. We have enough of them already.
February 6, 2008 pm29 3:23 pm
Lappiere is a great faceoff man
February 6, 2008 pm29 4:26 pm
Okay question: If we took on Perrault where would he play? Kov/Plek/Kos line cannot be broken up under any circumstances, Perrault will not replace Koivu as first line center, so are we saying that smolinksi is out on the third line? I don’t know if that is really an upgrade. Oh and Ice Man which has beens are you referring to?

THe only real trade that makes sense right now is Hossa. Put him with Higgins and Koivu and you have yourself two real good lines. ALthough S kost has some great upside Im not sure if he is ready for line 1 duties. However he brings a great dynamic to teh Lats and Laps line. JOkinen would not make sense unless he plays on the wing and we deal Koivu in teh off season. Maybe a depth d man as well although I am happy with our top 6 right now. Gorges is very solid!!!

Clive Chive Hive Bumble Bee BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
February 6, 2008 pm29 6:24 pm
Carey Price will start in goal on Thursday when the Canadiens host the Toronto Maple Leafs. Price is 3-0 against Toronto this season. While Guy Carbonneau did not tip his hand to the line combinations, Saku Koivu practiced with Guillaume Latendresse and Sergei Kostitsyn, while Michael Ryder was plugged in with the line of Steve Begin, Bryan Smolinski and Tom Kostopoulos. Chris Higgins played with Maxim Lapierre and Mathieu Dandenault. – TSN
Okinen makes perfect sence he is exactly what we need … and Hossa either one or dream on ( both ) lol but either one will do

Anyone talking on the blog right now?
February 6, 2008 pm29 7:09 pm
anybody heard if O’Byrne will play this weekend? I heard he got his cast off and practicing today with the club.
I think Hossa would be a great fit, big, and strong, just what Koivu needs to get going, provided we don’t give up alot of our young kids to get him.
February 6, 2008 pm29 9:36 pm
isn’t Hossa terrible come playoff time? or is that someone else from the sens?
February 6, 2008 pm29 10:04 pm
nope, that’s hossa.
February 7, 2008 pm29 8:58 am
#1. Ryder is a healthy Scratch again tonight.
#2. Hossa will not be comming to Montreal. All this trade talk is just RUMOURS. It was confermed by Welland himself.
February 7, 2008 pm29 12:18 pm
That should read Waddell
February 7, 2008 pm29 12:37 pm
Thats normal for him to say he is trying to sign Hossa to a multi year deal , they will know early next week if that is possible , until that time do not expect the owner of the Caps to say ummm yeah no problems he can talk to other teams… Of course this will all change as soon as they see they cannot sign him then they will be looking at the other options … make sence eh?
February 7, 2008 pm29 1:09 pm
According to TFP the Thrashers will be looking for a top forward in return for Hossa as well as prospects and they named Chris Higgins as the top forward. Gainey is holding all the cards and I think some minor tweaks could be made with maybe Ryder and Halak as bait but I really think he should not mortgage the future for Hossa or Jokinen. Chris Higgins has more heart than either one of them. Mike Milbury suggested that Jokinen is a problem player. Gainey has to think of Chemistry.
February 7, 2008 pm29 2:02 pm
If Gainey were to trade Higgins it would be a bigger mistake than trading Ribeiro”huge”. And if we still had Micky Ribs I don’t think we would be having this topic of conversation.
February 7, 2008 pm29 2:12 pm
How Ironic that the name we’ve been hearing lately is Hossa, and that the trade deadline is Feb 26th… Check out the habs schedule on the 26th.
And people, please give it up with Ribeiro, he would of still su cked in Montreal. He was a party animal and always in clubs, nights before games, getting smashed. The Best place he could of ended up is in Dallas where he can’t do those stupidities and go out. All he as too do now is Play hockey work out and take care of his kids. Mike was not suited for Montreal.

Thank you Ice Man….it’s what I’ve been saying all year. Why is Ryder the only one being thrown to the wolves so to speak, and Koivu’s and Higgins lack of presence and production on the ice being ignored with no “punishment”.
Higgins is NOT on pace for 60 pts, and Koivu MIGHT make it there, but with all the extra ice time these 2 get over Ryder, they should be ahead of Ryder in pts. PP, PK and regular shifts, along with the fact they have 6 and 7 more full games played then Ryder…and Higgins only has 16 more points than Ryder. It’s a no-brainer they should be ahead of Ryder….but it’s ridiculous they’re not ahead of him by more. Higgins needs a point a game to reach 60…anyone really think thats gonna happen? And like I said, Koivu might make it there, but that still not number for a “first” line center. The extra time and games account for the extra points…nothing else. These guys are still playing horribly and a non-factor in most games.
You ask me why Koivu and Higgins aren’t producing….I think it’s partly guilt..Guilt that none of the 3 are producing, and their linemate, and Higgins good friend and roommate is the only one being wrongly targeted and punished for the downslide of all 3. The line is just not clicking, and it’s insane that Ryder is being blamed for the downfall of Koivu and Higgins…and like I said, these 2 players no it also.
I’m a diehard Habs fan….but it’s time to move on Ryder and start scoring like you can again somehwre else…sadly, you’re not being given a fair shake in Montreal. Meanwhile, keep on winning boys, Kovy’s line gotta keep producing or we’re in deep…cause other than Streit and Markov, we’re not getting it from anywhere else. Pound the Leafs tonight….GO HABS GO !!!
February 7, 2008 pm29 4:11 pm
I`m surprised nobody mentioned that trade that’s appears to be “in the bag” (so to speak). If you’re francophone and watched RDS last night (the show is called 110%), it looks like we may be seeing Ryder and O’Byrne being traded for Alex Tanguay.
It was also suggested that Ryder has quite the alcohol issues that may be contributing to his subpar performance this year.
