Habs / Flyers: Game 1
-
If we learned anything from round 1 of the Playoffs, it’s that regular season records mean absolutely nothing.
The Canadiens once again play a team they dominated in the regular season. Undefeated, at home and on the road.
If we learned anything else, it’s expect the unexpected.
Who knows what Philly team will show up? Who knows if Montreal will play with the urgency and intensity that they need? Will they underestimate the Flyers the same way they did the Bruins?
Will the powerplay resume and be the decision maker in this series? Or continue to struggle and be indifferent?
Can Martin Biron be as good or better than Carey Price?
All these and many more questions need to be answered starting tonight in Montreal.

- Senet1 : I agree, Carey needs to get some starts if they leave him out much longer he will be ineffective in the Playoffs, I really thought it was time to play him against TO but coach chose otherwise. Halak is not used to playing so many games in a row, whereas North Am. goalies are.
- goalie : Though I have supported Halak a lot this year, the decision was to keep both goalies. So, I really hope that Carey too is playing well going into the playoffs, that we make the playoffs and both goalies are at the top of their game. Put Carey in for the next few games and see how he plays!
- Senet1 : bigger that he covers more of the net. Being bigger price tends to loose the puck in his feet, most tall goalies have that problem. But is is one that more experience helps them improve on that weakness. With two more years of development Price is still the goalie of the future, if not the present.
- Senet1 : Well the more HALAK plays the more other teams will find his weaknesses and if he does not improve on those weakness he will not be as affective in a long run. I have notived that last three games that the goals scored on him many of the shooters are going high on him. Being a smaller goalie he is more vulnerable. Don't be surprised if Halak only onl makes it part way through a playoff series and then Price will be back in net. Price weakness is also high shots but he is so much bigger that h
- Senet1 : I have to admit I am over joyed at no ndgatives coming out of this game. One thing I could not figure out, when Gomez and Gionta saw AK46 deek the TO goalie and go 5 hole why they didn't try the same thing is beyond me. That is obviously his weakness. Goalie I am concerned about that too , only good part about it there aRE NO SHOOTOUTS IN THE PLAYOFFS.
- goalie : I am more than a little concerned that the Lafs exposed Halak's inability to stop a player who dekes to Halak's glove hand side. He played those dekes very poorly.
- rocky : The leafs played a strong game and have some pretty deadly shootout threats. We did not lose anyone to injury and that game could have went either way. Now how is that for a positive spin on things eh?
- rocky : I hate to admit this, but I think Andrei Kostitsyn is poised to break his slump. He still skates like a turd, but I just have a feeling. If we get out of this game with no major injuries to key players I will be happy win or lose.
- Senet1 : Mst's I think if they can sign Markov to an extension then they can make move on some of the other defenceman before they become UFA. Hammer is a prime example and likewise so is Gil. Somehow I feel that there is something wrong with a one year contract like Mara's where he can be paid for not playing due to injury and then the team pays his bills and he can leave and go UFA without making up the salary. To me a contract should force a player to play a minimum of 50 games or healthy scatches
- Senet1 : Jagr is a strange player, lots of talent but he has lost his heart and all it is about is money. Edmonton would be better off using the money elsewhere.
- goalie : Rumor has it that the Oilers will be signing Jaromir Jagr to a very $$$$ 3 year contract. Makes sense because Jagr doesn't really want to play on a team that is a contender....so Oilers are a good possibility.
- goalie : I agree with Senet. Plex has been our best player this year. He hasn't been hurt for any long periods and he has done the job. He deserves to be our highest paid player. I sure hope that Markov rebounds next year. I find the Russian players very hard to read as to how they like it on a team and what their plans are going to be.
- Senet1 : To me it is hard not to pay Plex at least Cammy's money. He won't score as many goals but game in and game out Plex has been there and really, he has stayed healthy????
- Mats Naslund : Kesler $5m for 6 years.. 1 point seperates him and Plex in the standings.. Pretty good benchmark?
- Mats Naslund : I guess La presse is reporting that PG is talking extension with Markov's people.
- Mats Naslund : Boston and NY did us a huge solid last night by blowing it. 1 point out of 5th with 11 games to go.
- Mats Naslund : Might be a little sneaky, but what if we made Markov the captain - he would have a hard time leaving as a UFA. Hammrlik's $$ is Markov's in a year. We'll have the $$ to sign him and another UFA. I think I also like BUF in the first round although Miller scares the bajezus out of me. NJ after that.
- Senet1 : may lose him to UFA?? We make up the cap space with Laraque's salary, and the trade of one of are large defenceman salaries.
- Senet1 : There are four contracts that are a must for our GM needs to get done. Plek we need to give him a raise say $5.5M Our two goalies each in the neighbourhood $3M but perhaps the more important contract is Markov's he is not a UFA this year but if we agreed to renegoitate his contract a year earlier for say a raise to $6M next year and $7M for two more years then we may be able to get hims signed for at least 3 or 4 more years. If we let his contract expire and he become a UFA in 2011 then we may
- Senet1 : In fact I knew that I had to play washington, I would rather take them out in the first round.
- Senet1 : Well the one thing that does not matter is our record against any of these teams during the season. This is a much different team than the one we saw play during the majority of the season. Secondly, if I was going to pick a team to play it would be one with weaker goaltending. Right now if I had to pick it would either be Pittsburg or NJ although Washington can be had if Theodore does not play above his head. I believe that any team that can score 4 goals a game has a chance to beat Washing
- goalie : NJ would be my second choice followed by Pens OR Caps - don't think it much matters. No easy pickings Habs!
- goalie : Well the good news is that we're playing much better now than at times during the year. The Habs MUST play their bestagainst ANY of these teams to have a chance. We lost three staraight to the Pens, the Caps scare me because they have talent, NJ have improved greatly but we have played well vs them. I think we only beat Buf once but all but one game was very close. I guess I'd take my chances vs ther Sabres as I think our style matches up well against them.If we could beat Miller we could win.
- Mats Naslund : Unless we see a miracle, MON will be a 5-8 seed. So who between WAS, PIT, BUF, or NJ do you want in the 1st round?
- Mats Naslund : Metro is 35. I cant see them giving more than 1yr. He definitely deserves a spot next year though.
- Avatar37 : Senet - I agree, Metropolit is impressive and Metro and Moen always seem to come up clutch. I really hope they sign him to a 3-4 year deal.
- goalie : Isn't it a lot more interesting and fun when our team is playing well and on a run!
- Senet1 : So we have a good third line the fourth line is playing responsible hockey and the first line is generating offense as well as controling the play. Plek is playing hard and still managing to get a goal here and there so if Cammy can get back maybe we have four solid lines. Right now Martin is rolling the four lines well and I think we are tiring out the other teams.
- Senet1 : I also am impressed with our fourth line Metro, Lapierre and Darche. They are playing some productive minutes killing time and tieing up the other team in their zone.
- Senet1 : This line sort of reminds me of the Gainey line, they always scored the big goals in tight games. Believe it or not when the game was tied 1-1 I thought is is about time our third line got a goal and a few minutes later they did. It is become a regular thing this line.
- rocky : Moore brings great puck possession in the offensive zone and Segie can finish plays. Nice to watch, they are smoking third lines on other teams right now.
- Senet1 : I agree his brother is working out really well with Moore and Moan. They have offensive abilities and at the same time are very responsible defensively.
- rocky : He has talent you know, but just no intensity or desire for hockey at this stage. He should watch his brother right now and do his best to emulate him.
- rocky : That would s*ck. They should sit his ass.
- Senet1 : Yea I agree, because if not either Pyatt or Darche will be sent back down maybe both?

We cant seem to find those big players like the Flyers were able to get. Van Riemsdyk will be great next year too.

Q. Why go girls really dig the Montreal Canadiens?
A. Because they score between periods (but not today, I hope).
April 24, 2008 am30 6:28 pm
It’s not so much that they can’t find them as it is that they won’t go out and get them. Skilled players seem to dominate the Habs’ personality as a team, and while that worked against Boston, a more physical presence is required as a team proceeds deeper in to the playoffs.
It’s the Ottawa formula all over again.
And if they make a liar out of me by winning another Cup this season, then no one will be happier than me. And that’s my challenge to these players (not that they’ll ever know that it is).
April 24, 2008 am30 6:57 pm
It is harder to find these good players, over the last few years we lacked the skilled players to score goals, so finally we get the skill that we need and now we do not have the power forwards, I would suggest to you the Lats and Chipchura could both become what we are looking for, but so far they have not developed. I think Lats should have played two years in them minors where he would have learned to play more aggressive, now he is going into his third year and he still does not use his dominate size to his advantage. The other thing is that we have tended to draft 10th or higher for the past few years and it is hard to pick up the big centreman or the strong power forward drafting that high, therefore we end up drafting the smaller skilled players that are still available. Montreal has always been known for the speed flying frenchman and all, therefore, they want a player that can skate, it is the reason why we have dominated the Bruins for so many years. They always drafted touchness and speed was secondary. So I guess we have to ask, do we want a good team like Boston or do we want a great team. Now don’t get me wrong I agree we need a couple of big strong power forwards but they have to be able to skate.

Xtrahabs, you know what. I like seeing fans with your passion. I must be getting mellow I actually am pulling for the habs… I’m not a big flyers fan
April 24, 2008 am30 7:56 pm
I bet Ryder will get blamed for Breezers goal on his own net.
Breezer needs to be benched NOW! He was on the ice for the two goals.
DUH! CARBO! Time to be a coach………
No luck for Montreal tonight. They hit Two posts and a goal by Dumb *** Breezer on their own net.
April 24, 2008 am30 7:57 pm
boy am I glad I didn’t shell out megabucks for this game. Wasn’t it the flyers who were supposed to be tired??
April 24, 2008 am30 7:58 pm
I’m sorry to Duck. Our emotions get the best of us.
Peace My Habs Brother …….
April 24, 2008 am30 8:00 pm
For the record, I was never Ice Man!
I told everyone I was changing my name to DieHard Habs Fan.
April 24, 2008 am30 8:00 pm
Now were talking Frog, allright now there’s lot’s of room aboard for ya,so frog what do ya think about the game man?
April 24, 2008 am30 8:07 pm
I think they just came out a little cold. I will bet you by the end of the night this games is going to be close. They just have to get the cobwebs out. Its like a boxer who needs that first good shot. After that, he adjusts, and is good to go. This game will be tied by the end of the second period.
April 24, 2008 am30 8:07 pm
The Flyers are tired. And if it weren’t for a couple of goal posts saving Biron early on, they would have been down not 1-0 but 2-0.
So they get a lucky break off of Brisebois’s deflection and then they get inspired. Of course. That’s hockey. The sky is far from falling however.
How soon Brisebois’s first round performance is forgotten. Didn’t he hit the post behind Biron prior to that unfortunate deflection off of his stick? And what was he supposed to do with that exactly? Not try to stop the pass? Tackle Kapanen? It happens.
April 24, 2008 am30 8:09 pm
Back to the game…
April 24, 2008 am30 8:20 pm
The Breese was shaky in the first and the Habs should us his shot more cause thier having a hard time in the Philly end,not clicking and no sign of Kovalev. I do think we need more size against theirs\ guy’s as well.
April 24, 2008 am30 8:23 pm
What I tell you boys… and girls this game is far from over!
April 24, 2008 am30 8:24 pm
I love the Kots brothers!
April 24, 2008 am30 8:25 pm

April 24, 2008 am30 8:38 pm
We also have MK08, TK06. They are all KILLERS!!!!

pHILLY’S looking tired for the third, going to be a nail biter though…who wants it more is the question?…Need the fans at the Bell center to go f@ckin crazy.P J Stock …the new Don Cherry wannnabe…great, lol
April 24, 2008 am30 9:00 pm
So essentially, the Habs were a couple of goal posts and a goal that came one second too late from running away with this one.
Senet 1, I agree with all of your points. And I’m not suggesting that strong skating power forwards are easy to find (available). I’m just saying that the focus, with regard to free agent signings and trades, seems to have been on smaller skilled players as of late. Briere?
As everyone here surely agrees, Lecavalier would be such a nice addition to this team. They’d be dominant.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:00 pm
I watched the Philly Washington series, and if Montreal loses this series, it will be because they beat themselves. Boston is a better team than Philadelphia.
Even so, one or two bad games in a playoff series and it will be hard to come back against any team.
Go Habs!
April 24, 2008 am30 9:00 pm
The f@ckin P J Stock never say any positive words for Habs even in his air time on Team990. ***** Junk Stock!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 24, 2008 am30 9:02 pm
Breezer looks tired, maybe smarting from some hits. He definitely needs to sit out at least the next one. We need O’Byrne to move the Flyers out of Carey’s face.
Habs look like they might be starting to thaw out but boy, did they look stiff in the first period, also unwilling to mix it up and fight for the puck.
What gives???????/
We’d be up Salmonella Creek if it wasn’t for Price, but the way the Flyers are moving in on him, it’s just a matter of time until they mangle him.
Let’s hope our boys can find some testosterone in their jocks.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:03 pm
Yo Joseph ,what’s up dude, what do ya think man?
April 24, 2008 am30 9:03 pm
Before the counter arguments come, I realize that getting Lecavalier is easier said than done. But it’s the kind of possibility that should be pursued vehemently.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:03 pm
PJ Stock loves every team that plays the habs because he played for all of them, Boston, Philly, NYR. You should hear him on the team 990. He bashes the habs all the time, and he lives in Montreal!
April 24, 2008 am30 9:07 pm
Yo Xtrahabsfan!
I was stoked to see the Habs bounce right back in the second, and I think that if they keeop the pedal to the metal in the third, then Philly will be there for the taking in this game. Philly looks like they’re fading.
Further, I agree with others that the Habs are playing an opponent that they should beat in this series.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:08 pm
NOOOO GOAL
April 24, 2008 am30 9:09 pm
F @ C K !!!
April 24, 2008 am30 9:12 pm
Don’t worry. SK74, go ahead!
April 24, 2008 am30 9:16 pm
I do not have this game in my area. I still like the habs 4-3 in OT.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:18 pm
Ouch. That last goal hurt. Price is sucking tonight.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:22 pm

In general, I don’t like or dislike specific players. But I have been watching Habs TWO shaking (nervous) players: Huet and Brisebois.
1. Huet, farewell.
2. Brisebois, ???
April 24, 2008 am30 9:35 pm
This is terrible. Has the team been participating in late night riots? What the hell is going on with the Habs. These brutal, no energy, listless, heartless games are going to end up costing them a series at some point.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:44 pm

Ribit!! Ribit!!!
What did I say!!!!!!! It’s going to happen Boys.
see post 58.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:50 pm
yes, but our defence is horrible. They can’t seem tp make a pass out of their zone. what gives? You know guys, I thought Boston deserved to win the series, and if we play the same way against Philly, we’re most certainly going to lose the series. Philly is much better than Boston, more offence, and better goaltending. Philly has controlled the puck in our zone, and habs D is continually giving up the puck.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:51 pm
I’m watching the game on CBC because I don’t get RDS in HD. So here, for you Habs fans with RDS HD, are some great CBC quotes from the game:
1. When Kovalev’s goal is under review and the CBC team is looking at a camera angle that shows it was not a high stick: “I’m going to say something I shouldn’t say here…but I don’t think he hit that with a high stick”.
2. On the knee on Kovalev at the end of the game: “Richards is getting penalty for a clean hip check.”
3. “Montreal started the game strong and then Philadelphia took over…”
4. When Montreal scores to tie the game: “Scores!” [silence]
April 24, 2008 am30 9:53 pm
A couple of observations:
- Philly has reaped the rewards of several fortunate bounces in this game, at both ends of the ice.
- The Habs have looked far too flat for a team supposedly poised to make a legitimate run.
- The Habs need to skate.
- The Habs need to shoot more whilst in the slot… rather than look to make that extra move all of the time.
- The Habs’ only powerplay opportunity of the game came with one minute left, and that was enough to tie it.
- It’s good to have Kovalev back in regular season form.
- Biron is nothing – the Habs should be able to light him up in this series.
- The brain surgeon that threw a beer at Richards deserves to have his teeth knocked down his throat. That’s uncalled for and gives Habs fans a bad name.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:57 pm
Bob Cole is the biggest jerk! I can’t stand him. He is also anti-hab, like everyone else on CBC. He can’t pronounce the names, and his comments make no sense. he’s old, and needs to retire. In fact, all the old geezers at CBC need to be replaced by younger guys.
April 24, 2008 am30 9:57 pm
And then there’s Pretty Girl Stock’s B.S
April 24, 2008 am30 9:59 pm
Bob Cole is anti-Habs? I always thought that he was one of the more unbiased ones.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:00 pm
groundworking, I am physically in Toronto right now. In Montreal, if you go to a sports store, there are choices to buy fan gears of Leafs, Sens, Flames, Pens… But in Toronto, I went to a few sports stores and super stores, NO SIGN of Habs at all, NO SIGN of Sens at all, NO jerseys, no flags, no hats…
So narrow minded here in Toronto???
Who are the hosts of CBC? They are from Toronto.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:01 pm
Has any one seen Dandy,Breezer,Smoke……I say they got Downie ,we got Stewart.Need to sturr the pot!!!!
April 24, 2008 am30 10:01 pm
These montreal fans r acting a little too out of character. Beer on Richards in the penalty box is uncalled for. N believe me Flyers fans r capable of much worse than that. I’m sitting right near the montreal bench in philly n there gonna get more than just a cup of beer thrown on them. N any montreal fan i c in the building is gonna get it too. cuz thats how we do down here on broadstreet u soft canadian ********.

How many referees does it take to give the cads a game? Who knows, they all do. What an embarrassment to the NHL. Guy Lafleur would be ashamed.

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!!! First of all, a high stick slop goal on your russian toothless **** bag kovalev, second of all, richards got all shoulder on that “penalty”. The Canadiens didn’t even play well enough to win that game. Luck be a lady tonight, a hairy canadian lady. Kismet will rein supreme on your FlLUKE habs. Ease up, sit back and embrace the upset. FLYERS IN SIX!!!

well i was kinda worried in the beginining of the game, we had a hard time getting the puck out of our net, and we missed a lot of breakaways and stuff, but like always montreal always seems to fight or play harder when their losing so yeah we won YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
By the way who was that guy that kostopoulos jumps on when he scores that looked really cute.

Habsfansrsoft:
I seem to remember one of your porky compatriots getting his bald head smacked around by Tie Domi (a Canadian) after he tossed some booze at Domi.
That said, I’ve always found a contingent of Habs fans to be an embarrassment to our country, the city, and the team. Booing the national anthem is completely classless, and tossing beer on Richards is absolutely unacceptable, and the riots are shameful. That said, there’s nothing that compares in the NHL to the complete cheap shots that Flyers’ PLAYERS have committed in the NHL this year. You can’t hold the team responsible for the behavior of 1% of its fans, but you certainly can for the behavior of players that it keeps in its lineup.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:17 pm
Hey, did I mention Kovalev was toothless, like a grimey old prspector.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:17 pm
My impression of the less objective Flyers fans: “Whah! Whah!! Whah!!! Refs are on Montreal’s side! Goal scored with a high stick!”
You guys are a piece of work.
News flash: The Flyers are a second rate team, and they’ll lose.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:17 pm

Joseph, I understand what you are saying about have Vinny or a guy like him the problem is you have to give something to get something and I doubt if Tampa would even part with him. I am hoping though that next year he is a UFA and we should put a big push to get him then.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:18 pm
And blaming the refs? That knee by Richards was probably the most blatant trip that I’ve seen in these playoffs. They’ve called that all year.

April 24, 2008 am30 10:22 pm
Well if you look at the penalty every one called it a hip check but actually the first part of the check was a can opener move with his stick that is what cause Kovy to start to loose his balance then the hip and then the push. The League has been trying to stop players from making those kind of checks because they are potential season ending injuries. Philly should know better than to attempt a check like that so close to the end of the game, especially when it was not even in their defensive zone.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:22 pm

First off, that penalty was as blatant a trip, as I’ve ever seen. flyer’s fan should blame Richards for the loss. And let’s face it. Habs didn’t play well, and still won! Imagine if we had played well? You know what they say? good teams find a way to win, and crappy teams find a way to lose, and their fans complain! It is our destiny to win this year! wow, flyer fans are such bad losers, sour grapes!

We can boo your national anthem when you disrespect Kate Smith. She is our national anthem. As big as she is, as ugly as she is, she is still an ICON IN THE NHL. She is as big a part of Flyers hockey as Roy is to the Canadiens, or Marcel Dionne, or Guy LaFleur, or Jaques Plante…I can Keep naming legendary Canadiens players but I feel that is not needed. Wake up habs fans, reckoning is looming.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:29 pm
Hi All,
two posts in the first period….Brisebois responsible for the first two philly goals….and Biron can’t make that initial save in the OT.
If the first game is any indication, Flyers will have a very difficult time to compete.
Habs fans….welcome the 3rd Round fairly quickly.
Tony ( advice to Podo2877….these guys take no prisoners…lol )
April 24, 2008 am30 10:29 pm
who is this pooky and where did he come from, Your team got the bounches all night, did they play well? Yes at times but if we didn’t put the puck in the net for you and you didnt get a lucky kick in the net goal then we would not even got to OT.
Bottom line is we did not play our best but we still won. It seemed every time we would get the momentum you would get a lucky bounce and we were down a goal again. It was hard for our team to get any momentum with all those breaks you were getting.

The Habs got outplayed tonight and they know it. You fans in the Great White North know it too. They ripped one off tonight. No way that check gets called in a PLAYOFF game with a minute to go. It’s always a real travesty when a ref has such a direct effect on the outcome of the game…it really diminishes the sport. That said, we’ll see you next game, and a couple more after that…and may the best team win…unlike tonight.

Now I know that we are dealing with someone who knows absolutely nothing about hockey. First of all the goal was not a high stick. Not only was the stick just below the cross bar but in order for the goal not to count it also had to be above Kovalev’s shoulder and it wasn’t.
And if you have been following hockey at all this year know would not that the penalty has been called all year, the refs have been instructed to call all Knee on Knee checks and beside the check started with the stick.
April 24, 2008 am30 10:36 pm
Why do you keep telling me to wake up, Podo? I’ve been up since 7:00 this morning.
Seriously, what do you expect when you come in here with the ‘Biased Ref’ card in hand? Come on, man. Did you borrow that one from a Leafs fan? It was a trip. Further, it was the only powerplay the Habs were given in the entire game. Why don’t you add somehitng a litle more objective to the conversation in here? Like, ‘Koivu’s ability to win face-offs killed us in the end…’?
April 24, 2008 am30 10:36 pm
Cmon …
Outplayed? Not so much…played well? Definitely not…but..
Biron was no good tonight, and our own player scored your first goal..and your third was a total fluke…is that playing well?
Kovalev’s on the other hand…pure skill to keep it no higher than the bar.

Yo portly, he had one of his worst games we scored on of your goals, the second goal he had no chance on and the third was a lucky bounch of your man’s skate. To me this was his weakest performance in the playoffs and than includes the two games that Boston scored 5 on him of which most were not his fault. If you can only score two goals on him when he plays a bad game then you are going to have trouble beating him most nights.

April 24, 2008 am30 10:59 pm
portly,
We know you are having fun, likewise, I like to see the refs but their whistle in their pockets most nights and I agree let them play, but the bottom line is if Brisebois had not scored on his own net, this game would probably been an entirely different game. That seemed to put us back on our heels and although we did recover, that third goal you guys got a a few second left on the PP was a killer, personally I hate those types of goals no matter who scores then, I always believe in the he shoots he scores type of goals.
April 24, 2008 am30 11:00 pm
Price is going to play better next game, as will the habs. But it’s destiny that the habs keep winning even tho they really haven’t played well in the playoffs. So if we win, when not playing well, imagine what would happen when we bring our A game. Flyer’s fans have only seen a tip of the iceberg, The real habs team is coming, in waves! One other comment, that is the reason why coaches keep telling their players to shot the puck, because you never know where it will end up and many times it is in the back of the net.
Considering that the habs did not play their best game and the Flyers played well and also got the bounces I think the overtime was a fitting end to the game. And the best thing for us habs fans was it was a clean goal by our lunch bucket guys and we won!

Yes Joseph, but now you are a true habs fan because you got the faith that I was talking about all last series. RIGHT?

Tony from NB,TAKE NO OFFENCE MAN,WE BE UNDER FIRE DUDE,LOL
April 24, 2008 am30 11:12 pm
I do, Senet 1. It’s true.
April 24, 2008 am30 11:13 pm
Joseph
I too am a very critical fan of my team as well. Although, I think if they keep this team’s core in tact for at least 2 to 3 years they could be dangerous. Plus, I don’t think the habs should have traded Huet. Even if price wins this series, he’s still pretty much an unproven young backstop.
April 24, 2008 am30 11:14 pm
But I won’t stop preaching about grit and leadership until they prove me wrong. I’m a pain in the *** like that.
April 24, 2008 am30 11:14 pm
I don’t want to offend Tony from NB… He’s a cool BRUIN!
April 24, 2008 am30 11:19 pm
EFFINFLYERS!!:
There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding the Huet trade. And I, for one, initally thought it a bad one, especially considering how little we got in return for him (in my opinion). However, Price, who had proven himself at all levels prior to the NHL, is now proving that he can bacstop the Habs to wins in the playoffs… not to mention, a shutout against Boston in Game 7. The kid seems to feel no pressure. He’s a goaltending phenom. In addition, Huet was an UFA in the off-season and likely one that was going elsewhere.
That said, I still think that they should have gotten more in return for Huet.

April 24, 2008 am30 11:25 pm
Unfortunately, it would have been nice to get more for Huet, but other than Washington no one wanted him and Gainey got down to the wire and he either lost him as a UFA or he got the best offer he could get and that was a second rounder. We have a lot of second and third rounders on this team even some fifth and sixth rounders, so you cannot judge the draft pick until it is made and we see the fruits or spoils of the trade. You never know we might get another Larry Robinson who was a late round draft pick.

Ah, there you are. I envision you in a cubicle of some kind… not too much sunlight… not a lot of fresh air.
Let’s get something straight. You come here to troll, which was evidenced in your whining about the refs deciding the game and your lack of objectivity when challenged. You then persist in telling me to wake up and resort to insulting my intelligence in a rather pretentious manner. Is that about accurate?
April 24, 2008 am30 11:31 pm

Common, guys, let’s back off the needles and the jabs against the Flyer fans.
We all know in our heart of hearts it could (should?) have been us on the losing end, and we all know what a downer a loss in overtime can be.
Flyer fans, my dig against Mrs. K. Smith was a cheap shot. I could say it was the “BLOG state of mind”, but I won’t. It was ignorant on my part.
Now let’s go out and share some Philly Cheesesteaks and Molson’s at some good eating place on Crescent.

An outlier is a piece of data that is numerically distant from the mean or norm, and thus dealt with or removed. In this case, hockey fanaticism being the norm.

Holy ****! I can’t believe how many posts there are following the game. This philly troll really got to you guys. It’s hard to judge that game… the flyers goals were ugly, but sometimes ugly goals win you games. Not this time. The habs goals were more skilled(AK46 and AK27) and went in due to hard work and determination(TK06).
I’m laughing at these trolls saying that the habs were lucky to win. I think the Flyers were lucky to be even leading the game on both occasions. Nice comeback tonight, and let’s show em why we were first in the East on Saturday by just murdering them. Saturdays game prediction: Habs 6-2! Series prediction: Habs in five!
April 25, 2008 am30 6:32 am
lol WHAT THE HELL IS WITH ALL THIS ARGUEING!!! The Flyers are going down in 4 or 5. So Flyer fans watch the games closely because you won’t be seeing ur flyers were too much longer.
April 25, 2008 am30 7:44 am
There is still a lot of Hockey left to play in this series, May it be 4 straight, 5, 6 or 7.
Montreal can’t let their guard down for one min. They have to play like there is no tommorrow. Play like it is game 7. Knock of these “Chump”Flyers as quick as they can and then they can rest up for the next round. The further a series goes the less rest they will have. Every 6 to 7 round series will catch up with you as the deeper you go. Play full out every night, finish it and rest…
April 25, 2008 am30 7:47 am
It is plain to see that all of us Habs Fans in here LOVE one another.
Lets share our Love with the Flyer Fans.
We Love you, our Flyer Brother & Sisters.
April 25, 2008 am30 9:30 am
What a joke last night was….I now see its the Flyers vs Canada not just Montreal. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the Canadiens I have a problem with but are you going to tell me that 2nd goal wasn’t hit with a high stick???? Its pretty safe to say when the stick ends up sitting on top of the crossbar that it was in fact high sticking(although great hands to even make the play happen). Of course the review war room is also in Canada so I am not really surpried that you all will stick together until you bring a cup home to one of your four undeserving teams. The Richards Penatly was bull$hit too but hey thats in real time so I can’t get to mad except you can’t call that with the time reaming in the game unless it totally justified. Very classy move to throw beer on Richards too, in case you forgot he is also from Canada. I can’t wait till you punks come to Philly.
Refs 1
Flyers 0
April 25, 2008 am30 10:25 am
As for ‘lovin’ our Flyer fans. Yeah, sure as long as the respect is mutual.
Now about our win being a fluke… Their first goal goes off Breezer’s stick, their third goal
takes the bounce of the year goes off Lupul’s leg and in. Yeah all skill, obviously NO LUCK
there.
Now about OUR bad luck… First Period… 2 posts and a goal that went in as the buzzer
sounded… Oh did I mention Breezer’s stick? (Not bashing the breeze, just had to mention it again)
Habs in 6!!

April 25, 2008 am30 11:40 am
That was probably the worst game the Habs played so far in the playoffs, other than perhaps the shallacking from Boston one game in round 1. So, the big difference between this brutal performance and the last one is that the Habs still won. If the Canadians played an average game, the score last night is maybe 6 or 7 to 1.
Yet, this is how Phily played in the whole series against Washington. So unless Phily elevates their game to a higher level, or unless Montreal just plays brutal the entire series, this one is over in 4.
And yes, that puck was “clearly” hit with a high stick OVER the cross-bar, as any blind man could tell you from having watched the replay 100 times in slow motion. And no, Richards clean check at the end of the game on a player who had beat him cleanly wasn’t a penalty, it was simply a simply a clean “leg check”. And yes, people in Toronto are always biased in favor of Montreal. And yes, the NHL loves to see American teams get beat out, because the NHL is really concerned with expanding the popularity of hockey in Canada. And yes, Montreal got all the lucky bounces, including two lucky bounces right off Phily’s goal post in the first period. Blah Blah Blah. You know, that’s the difference between Habs fans and fans from other team (except maybe the Red Wings). When our team sucks, we know it, and when they lose, we don’t make excuses.
April 25, 2008 am30 11:52 am
… are you going to tell me that 2nd goal wasn’t hit with a high stick????
Yes. It’s not where the stick is but where the puck and stick made contact, which was, in fact, not above the crossbar. Further, Kovalev held his stick below his shoulders on the play, which is more what the replay folks go on these days.
It’s funny that so many Flyers fans should complain about the officiating last night. What a silly excuse to fall back on. Especially after what unfolded in Game 7 in their series against Washington. Any Flyer fans remember that second Flyer goal in Game 7? Any Flyer fans remember that powerplay awarded to their team in overtime after the whistles had been retired for almost two full periods? And now you’re going to come in here and pull the ref card out? That’s… pretty funny.
April 25, 2008 am30 12:00 pm
talking about giving penalties at the end of a game or OT: Wasn’t Philly the recipient of a penalty called against the Caps in OT? If not for that PP goal, the Flyers would not won that game. remember that flyers fan.
And remember that the rules regarding a stick at the same height of the crossbar, say it’s a goal. I can’t believe these sour grapes.
The habs actually were called for more penalties than the flyers. Maybe the refs are anti habs. During the course of the regular season haven’t we all complained about all the bad calls against the habs, and that the officials like to stick it to the habs? flyers fans have no idea what were talking about? And if the same thing happened to their team, do you think they would complain? honestly!
April 25, 2008 am30 12:04 pm
The post-game interview with Flyers coach Stevens was amusing as well. Anyone catch that one? He said that the Habs got all the breaks in the game. Really, John? When the Habs hit the posts behind Biron twice in the first 10 minutes, they were getting the breaks? When the first Flyer goal was deflected in off of Brisebois’s stick, the Habs were getting the breaks? When Markov scored one second to late in the first period, the Habs were getting the breaks? When the third Flyer goal bounced off of Price’s glove, off of a skate, and then in to the net, the Habs were getting the breaks?
I like sports. I like the biased view that coaches and players and fans have following a game. It’s very entertaining.
April 25, 2008 am30 12:05 pm
What a Dork this Flyers coach is!
He said; “we certainly didn’t get any breaks,” Flyers coach John Stevens said. “I wasn’t sure on the high-stick there. It’s tough.”
Didn’t get any breaks? Are you Shitting me?
What about the 2 goal posts Montreal hit?
What about the fluky goal by Breezer?
What about the third fluky goal by the Flyers off a leg?
What a Doush Bag.
April 25, 2008 am30 12:08 pm
These disgruntled Flyers fans haven’t a leg to stand on. The ref arguments don’t hold any water at all. These are sour grapes and nothing more.
The only thing I am in agreement with is the classlessness of the fan that threw a beer at Richards. That’s not just classless, that’s embarrassing. But hey, the Flyers’ fansbase has its share of classless fans as well. Anyone remember the fan that fell in to the penalty box with Tie Domi? That’s not just classless, that’s incredibly stupid.
April 25, 2008 am30 12:16 pm
I recall a playoff series between Toronto and Philadelphia several years ago where the now forgotten Sergei Berezin scored the GWG on the powerplay in OT. Clarke was livid after the game, claiming tht the refs were biased, and further that they must have been from Toronto. What Clarke seemd to overlook was the fact that his Flyers were awarded 7 (seven!) straight powerplays in the second period of that game. They failed to capitalize on any of them, and when the Leafs did in OT the game was suddenly ‘fixed’.
On that note, does anyone see a correlation between Clarke’s whining about officiating and the whining about officiating that’s witnessed among Flyers fans?
April 25, 2008 am30 12:18 pm
The only thing I am in agreement with is the classlessness of the fan that threw a beer at Richards.
Actually, I am in disagreement with what the fan did.
April 25, 2008 am30 12:47 pm
guess Philly thinks if they win, all calls were fair, but if they lose, because the other team got all the breaks! I think they should change their name to the Philadelphia criers, or whiners!
April 25, 2008 am30 12:56 pm
That appears to be the case, rhabs4real, but with more than just the Flyers fans.
The thing that I don’t understand is this seemingly irresistable urge to come to the opposing team’s fan site and complain. God forbid I’m allowed to come here to share my enjoyment with fellow Habs fans without having to contend with Flyers fans trying to piss on our wave. Misery loves company indeed.
April 25, 2008 am30 12:58 pm
XTRAHABSFAN???? POST #250 WAS BY ME!!!

April 25, 2008 am30 1:16 pm
Anyway, the Flyers thought that they were going to steal Game 1, but no such luck. The Habs got the job done with a minimal amount of effort last night, which should speak volumes to both Habs and Flyers fans. If this team ever brought its A game for more than one game–and it better if the Habs have any hopes of seeing the SCF–then the Flyers would be in serious trouble… unless they show that they are capable of a much better game than they showed last night or in any of their games against Washington (a team that overachieved down the stretch just to get in).
April 25, 2008 am30 1:21 pm
habs are going to win no matter what Philly does, because we’re a team of destiny! It’s our year; call it fate!
April 25, 2008 am30 1:24 pm
1993 all over again! can’t do anything wrong. winning no matter what happens. And that’s exasctly how it’s been going, so far. How many great games have we played in the playoffs? game 1 vs the bruins, 2nd and 3rd period of the 7th game. that’s it folks.
April 25, 2008 am30 1:37 pm
Habs fans, congrats on the win last night. I must warn you, these flyer trolls will only get worse. Trust me, I went 7 games with them. They have no right to blame the refs for your win after the first round was given to them. The goal was not hit in with a high stick. You could also see that Richards stuck out his leg.
The better team did not win the first round, but so be it. The better team will win this round and that will be the Habs in 5. Good luck in this series and don’t let the trolls get to you. That is all they have. Abusive language without any true knowledge.
April 25, 2008 am30 1:43 pm
Good game last night and thats all I can ask from my flyers. Atleast I know this will be a tigher then I previously thought. I have no problems with the refs last night although I did think Richards penatly was a little weak. The only problem I have was a the beer that hit Richie in the penalty box…. just no need for that. I wouldn’t be surprise to to a “Hab” get soaked when they come to Philly for a little payback but I hope not.
April 25, 2008 am30 2:13 pm
Welcome, CT Caps Fan. While many here were afraid of a potential ECF match-up against Huet and Ovechkin, I would have liked to have seen your team move on. Ovechkin brings the kind of passion that makes this game fun to watch, especially at this time of year. As does the play of Backstrom and Semin. However, I knew that if Philly could silence Ovechkin for most of the series, the Caps would be in tight. And to the Flyers’ credit, they did just that. But there’s always next season, when your younger players have matured another year, and gained some valuable playoff experience along the way.
Flyersfan, it was a good game last night. And the ending was dramatic. Habs fans and Flyes fans will always see the penalty call from different perspectives, but according to the rule book, what Richards did justified a penalty call, whether it was intentional or not. he stuck out his backend and caught Kovalev on the leg, tripping him upon entering the offensive zone with the puck. I mean, of course that’s a penalty.
As to the beer thrown at Richards, I concur. It was shameful. But one idiot does not a fanbase make.
April 25, 2008 am30 2:16 pm
Did anyone catch Souray on NHL Live? He was praising both the city of Montreal and the Habs organization. He said that he learned a lot about respect and professionalism during his tenure in Montreal.
April 25, 2008 am30 2:22 pm
@ Joseph, thanks! We are very excited for the new Caps. We think they will be a very good if not great team for many years to come, plus they have the lowest payroll (i.e. lots of money left) of most any team so we can be aggressive this year.
Wow, it would have been an amazing series to see the Caps and the Habs play and it would have been in the Conf Finals too, if things worked out. Oh well, I am sure in the near future it will happen.
Again, good luck and we will be watching!
April 25, 2008 am30 2:41 pm
I just love it.
Everybody SING!!!!!
April 25, 2008 am30 2:42 pm
Thanks, CT Caps Fan. And you’ve got good reason to be excited about your team. They’ll no doubt be a force for years to come.
Penguins-Capitals would have been just as much fun to watch, but I’m sure we’ll see it sooner than later.
April 25, 2008 am30 2:44 pm
The funny thing is that it doesn’t really matter what the Habs do from here on out. They’ve already made so much progress this season.
Thank you, Habs.
Having said that, if you’re 11 wins away, then why not go for it with all you’ve got…
April 25, 2008 am30 3:28 pm
Joseph – I agree with you if I was a “Hab” fan i would have seen the Richards penalty the other way, it just look like a shoulder not a knee to philly fan. I knew as soon as it was called you guys were gonna score 6-4 your team is very talented and very agressive on your PP. It should be a good series just like the last one with the Caps who I also love to watch. I do see Montreal winning this series but if we can get in Price’s head with alot of shots and some contact we do have a shot to score some goals on him. Anyway good luck Habs here is one Philly fan who respects your team, pride and country.
Have to say this though “GO FLYERS”
April 25, 2008 am30 3:47 pm
Flyersfan, if only there were more like you. (I’m sure that there are, but just few of whom come in here.)
Thanks for being a passionate yet objective fan.
The only thing that I would add is this: Price has proven himself to be the real deal as far as all the hype surrounding him was concerned. This kid is a goaltending phenom at 20 years of age. He doesn’t lose his cool, he doesn’t crack under pressure and he rarely gets rattled. So the Flyers will have their work cut out for them if they hope to throw him off of his game. He’s also a technically sound goaltender, not only positionally but also with regard to playing angles and controlling rebounds, so they’ll have to shoot through traffic, as they did on their second goal last night, to score on him consistently. But this is easier said than done. The Habs have some big defensemen who are good at clearing the crease and blocking shots.
Speaking of the second goal, obstructing Price was something that the Habs had discussed prior to this series, which would explain Price’s reaction to the second Flyers goal in last night’s game – his own defenseman (I forget who) was standing in his line of sight when that goal was scored. Price threw up his arms as if to say ‘Guys, didn’t we agree to try and avoid this sort of thing?’
Anyway, I respect Canada, its hockey fans and my Habs, too, but it’s not my country of birth. I’m originally from the other side of the state, in Penguinsville.
April 25, 2008 am30 3:52 pm
I really believe the Flyers got the bounces, and the Habs got the calls. Too bad the latter made more of a difference. Oh well, I feel the Flyers played far better against the Habs than the Caps. Being a Flyer fan, im rooting for them and after the game, I feel this will be a close series.
April 25, 2008 am30 3:53 pm
Not to take anything away from Price, but he looked kinda shaky for being hyped up to be as good as Dryden and Roy. He’s good for sure, but he didn’t look very comfortable last night
April 25, 2008 am30 4:10 pm
Nice,Flyersfan enjoy the series .Jack Hab,your post is#151 on my end, anywho just taking care of a troll, lol.Nice of Caps fan to warn us there’s gonna be a little whinning troll action headed our way, great, more whinning from Washington, what’s new.

Habs Team Chemistry looks very good right now. My only problem is with Carb’s insistence on not changing the lineup.
Lapierre -2 with only 8 minutes Ice Time Game 1, fine he can play physical, but lets give someone else a chance.
Dandenault -1 with 6 minutes, and slow as Hell !
Streit -1 with 9 minutes, always looks likes hes going to give up the puck – frustrating to watch.
If I was coaching, I would make sure rotate a couple of these guys in next game for sure. Scotty Bowman was the best at always rotating your 4th line players, to keep everyone hungry and fresh. Carbs has a lot to learn there.
Chipchura – hes great defensively – and deserves a shot. He could really help on taking out Flyers best player, Briere etc.
Latendresse – hes better than Dandenault for sure.
Ryder – not sure about this one, but doesnt he deserve another shot?
Brock Trotter – would love to see this kid play, maybe hes a real gem – doubt we will find out this year.
April 25, 2008 am30 4:43 pm
And on D, how about giving Hamilton call ups Mathieu Carle and Pavel Valentenko a shot? What about O’Byrne – he would match up well against some of the bigger Philly Forwards.
Brisebois could use at least one game in the press box.
We have too many of the same type of D playing.
Fine they are all great moving the puck quickly – but not too good when you cant get the puck !
April 25, 2008 am30 4:47 pm
Flyersfan, all I can say is that the Richards penalty was a tougher call then the Goalie interference on Huet and Washington.
Seing Richards hit Kovalev from the referee facing him might of been obviously that it was the shouder, but the other referee that sees it from the back, those see the knee sticking. Tough luck. We cannot base the whole game on one play as there where so many in that game that could of changed everything. And thats on both sides.
April 25, 2008 am30 4:48 pm
Brisebois needs at least 10 games in the stands lol
April 25, 2008 am30 5:14 pm
GO HABS!
April 25, 2008 am30 6:56 pm
Admittedly, I didn’t get a great look at the replay on the Richards hit. But either way, is it not interference when a player puts the puck behind you and you obstruct him from getting to it… especially in open ice… especially in an attempt to gain the offensive zone?
Anyway. For Flyers fans, a powerplay opportunity cannot be blamed for the game tying goal. The Flyers’ inability to win the face-off and get the puck out, on the other hand, can.
Penguins and Rangers in five minutes… should be a good one to watch.

Biggest Loser fan base in pro sports goes to the Montreal Canadians fans!!!
1) booing another countrys national anthem. Shame on you!!
2) Singing *** songs at a hockey game. What kind of Hockey fan does that, this is Hockey!!
3) Destroying your city after a first round win over the 8th seed?
I love hockey and I respect the Montreal Canadiens even though they are going nowhere but the fans a bunch of losers.
April 25, 2008 am30 7:55 pm
also someone tell me why do you boo Chara everytime he touches the puck? its stupid!! please give me a good reason for that one.
thanks
April 25, 2008 am30 9:48 pm
NYR blew a 3 goal lead, and lost to Pitt. I think NY would be an easier opponent than Pitt, because Pitt has lots of talent and speed. NY is slower, but better defensively.Toss up. What do you guys think?
April 25, 2008 am30 10:06 pm
Because Chara is a bully , he goes after the small players … Singing at the game shows we are not afraid of what others think, so what if it comes from another sport we make it our own !!!

When you are swatting DOWN on a puck that was above your shoulders or crossbar IT WAS IS A HIGH STICK!! Oh and I didn’t know that you knee was above your torso when you play for the flyers.
SORRY WRONG AGAIN, READ THE RULES THEY EXPLAINED THE RULE AFTER THE GAME THE OTHER NIGHT. AND SHOULD SHOULD WATCH THE GAME AGAIN AND SEE HOW HIS STICK MADE THE FIRST CONTACT THEN THE KNEE. THE PENALTY HAS BEEN CALLED ALL YEAR, AND IF IT WAS THAT BAD OF A CALL YOUR COACH WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT MORE UPSET. YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE A LITTLE BIAS ABOUT YOUR LOSS.
April 25, 2008 am30 10:12 pm
Post #287,it’s pointless trying to explain anything to a marblehead,lol…..go habs go….
April 25, 2008 am30 10:20 pm
marblehead, you apparently have some anger issues that you need to work out for yourself. Nothing you had to express here is worth commenting on.
Anyone see the Penguins-Rangers game tonight? What a strange game. Three goals came directly from defelctions off of defensemen’s skates on attempting centering passes.
Anyway, the Rangers lead 3-0 and lost 5-4. I think that they’re making a new name for themselves – ‘Kings of Blown Leads’. And significant leads at that.
April 25, 2008 am30 10:22 pm
When a player is booed it’s actually a compliment to that player. He’s being booed because he’s usually the best player on the opposing team. All hockey fanbases do this. It’s nothing new.

What a joke last night was….I now see its the Flyers vs Canada not just Montreal. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the Canadiens I have a problem with but are you going to tell me that 2nd goal wasn’t hit with a high stick????
IT IS NOT WHERE THE STICK WAS IT IS WHERE IT MAKES CONTACT WITH THE PUCK, THE CROSS BAR IS NOT THE ONLY GUIDE IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE A HIGH STICK IT MUST BE ABOVE THE PLAYERS SHOULDER, IN BOTH CASES THE LOWER PART OF THE STICK MADE CONTACT WITH THE PUCK WHICH WAS BELOW THE CROSS BAR CLEARLY ON THE REPLAY YOU COULD SEE THAT AND SINCE THE BAR IS LESS THAN 5 FEET HIGH THE STICK WAS NOT ABOVE THE KOVY’S SHOULDERS. THEREFORE IN BOTH CASES IT HAD TO BE CALLED A GOAL.

THAT BOOING A PLAYER HAS BEEN PART OF HOCKEY FOR YEARS, AND VERY INTIMIDATING FOR SOME PLAYERS, I THINK IT AFFECTED HIS PLAY, YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE HISTORY OF THE HABS VS OTTAWA TO UNDERSTAND THE REASON FOR THE BOOING.

I tend to agree the NYR would be an easier to play against. However, I like their goaltending but I did not see the game tonight, someone said there were a lot of goals off skates. I think MYR have the better goaltending game in and game out but any goalie can get hot for a series or two.
I just think that Pittsburg have a lot of talent on their team, question is can they play a good team game if their talented players get shut down? I guess we will have to wait an see, the Rangers have talent and experience which really makes it confusing to see them loose games where they have a leads.

He’s 20 years old, and playing in his first playoff. Also, you have to remember that Dryden and Roy didn’t exactly pitch shutouts every game. Price is as good as either was.
April 25, 2008 am30 11:06 pm
Thanks, Senet 1. Wouldn’t it be easier if fans took the time to understand the rules before complaining about calls?
April 25, 2008 am30 11:19 pm
One more thing, Joe…
Consider the nature of the three Flyer goals. The first was deflected off of Brisebois’s stick (no goaltender is stopping that). The second was shot upper corner, past a blinded Price (no goaltender is stopping that). And the third was off the top of Price’s glove, off of Lupul’s leg/skate, and in to the net (perhaps the only one that Price could assume some of the blame for).

I have been Involved In Hockey for over 40 years and I have never heard of one player being booed everytime he touches the puck ( only habs fans) I wasnt sure if it was because he was good or because he had a bad history with the Canadians while with 0ttawa. Did he hurt a Habs player? whats the bad history?
April 26, 2008 am30 9:34 am
I watched Price in the first round, he was awful. The shutout in game seven was due to the habs defense they clogged up the slot and didnt let the Bruins get quality scoring chances. Price let up many soft goals in that series but I hear that he is talented and Im sure that he will improve.
April 26, 2008 am30 9:37 am
Chara goes after the small players!! Ha Ha . Everyone on the ice is smaller than him!!
Someone tell me what he did to the Habs while he was with Ottawa and maybe I will understand.

1) booing another countrys national anthem. Shame on you!!
Just as the fans in San Jose did to the Canadian anthem two years ago? Or the fans in New York did during the Team Canada-Team USA World Cup Final several years ago?
This is an old and stupid argument. For one, it’s always a minority of fans that actually does the booing, and such a minority of fans is certainly not restricted to Montreal. Secondly, get over yourself with regard to the national anthem. You didn’t write it, and I’d be interested in hearing your translation of what it actually means. Finally, you’re expressing your anger to a bunch of fans that weren’t even at the game booing anthems – shame on you.
2) Singing *** songs at a hockey game. What kind of Hockey fan does that, this is Hockey!!
Once again, you’ve got some anger issues that you need to work out for yourself.
It is none of your business how the fans of Montreal choose to support their team. None. Do you even know the origin of this song? Do you even know what it means? It doesn’t really matter what your answers are because Habs fan can celebrate their team in any manner that they choose.
3) Destroying your city after a first round win over the 8th seed?
Try doing the minimal amount of research required to get your facts straight. Police concluded that it wasn’t hockey fans at all that participated in the post-game riots, but rather fans from a hip-hop concernt that let out and intermixed with the post-game celebration party. AS you probably know, hip-hop culture is both rebellious and opportunistic. What better opportunity than thousands of fans in the streets to cause a little mayhem.
Biggest Loser fan base in pro sports goes to the Montreal Canadians fans!!!
I love hockey and I respect the Montreal Canadiens even though they are going nowhere but the fans a bunch of losers.
It’s obvious that you are a bitter person with issues, and likely ones that have little or nothing to do with hockey. Shed some of your ignorance and try living in a world that isn’t based on delusions. And for god’s sake, learn some manners before you come to the fan site of another team.
I watched Price in the first round, he was awful. The shutout in game seven was due to the habs defense they clogged up the slot and didnt let the Bruins get quality scoring chances. Price let up many soft goals in that series but I hear that he is talented and Im sure that he will improve.
Now you’re just being retarded. For someone who supposedly has been involved with hockey for 40 years, you certainly know nothing about the game. Price is obviosuly world class, and the booing of top players on opposing teasm has been going on in arenas around the NHL for years. Your ignorance shines through like a diamond in the sunlight here.
You know, marblehead, it seems to me that you are more jealous of the Habs and their fans than anything else. You try to find fault with the players, the fans where it doesn’t exist, and you fabricate negatives where they cannot be found.

Chara goes after the small players!! Ha Ha . Everyone on the ice is smaller than him!!
What Senet 1 meant was that he has a history of going after the smaller (relative to the rest of the league) and less physical opposition.
Regardless, as I said, an opposition team’s player is booed if either a) he has a history with the team whose fans are booing him, b) he in a known pest (i.e. Sean Avery), or c) he is that team’s best player, and thus the fans boo him to throw him off of his game… just as the San Jose fans did to Phaneuf in the first round against Calgary… just as the Edmonton fans did to Pronger after he signed with Anaheim… just as New Jersey fans did with Gomez during the first rounf against New York… and on and on and on.
40 years without a television or access to a newspaper I presume.

Question…seriously, what is up with the song that you guys sing? I have found that all NHL teams have some sort of little ritual chant nowadays, even the flyers.
April 26, 2008 am30 11:10 pm
Oh, and being that I am born and raised in Philly, if I were ever blessed enough to play in the NHL for the Canadiens or any othe NHL team I doubt that the Philly fans would boo be for not signing with the Flyers.
April 26, 2008 am30 11:13 pm
To Joseph
Flyers fans boo crosby because he is a punk. He gets **** started and runs away, he’s kind of hated throughout the NHL. He’s a ****. A brown one. with nuts, and possibly corn as well.
