Why isn’t Michael Ryder Signed?
That is a good question that many Habs fans are still wondering as we inch closer to the season.
What is Bob Gainey thinking? Surely he knows that Ryder is probably one of the brighest upcoming stars in the league. Robbed of the Calder trophy, he put up 25 goals and over 60 points in his rookie season.
Watching games last year Michael Ryder was one of the few Canadiens you could count to show up and deliver every game. A gritty forward with a nose for the net. So why isn’t he inked? It can’t be Bob Gainey doesn’t want this kid can it? Doubtful.
Since he hasn’t been signed, specualtion is circulating that Ryder himself wants out. This I find hard to believe and don’t see any basis for. Perhaps he’s holding out for more money, that maybe he doesn’t really warrant yet at this time in his career. Of course, who can really know but Ryder himself?
Other rumors that there is a trade in the works, possibly with Brad Richards out of Tampa Bay. If Ryder is going to be traded, don’t expect it to be for Brad Richards. If it were to happen , Ryder would be part of a group transaction seeing a couple other big names alongside his.
Let’s put a rest to this and get Ryder inked on the dotted line. We need his 25+ goals in the ever competitive Northeast this season.

Habs re-sign Andrei Markov to two-year deal

In 2004-05, he registered 23 points in 42 games (7 goals, 16 assists) with the Moscow Dynamo in the Russian League. He scored two goals in 10 playoff games, leading the Dynamo to the league’s playoff championship.This will be Andrei’s 5th season with the Habs.
This pretty much locks up our defence and leaves only 2 key signings to make. Ryder and Theodore.
Ryder? Should be a shoe in come the end of this week.Theo? Who knows now that Luongo just lost his arbitration case in Toronto, he may be looking to pack his bags for Montreal.

- Senet1 : I am not so sure that any of our players should be at the allstar game, but if I were to have any it would be Price and Komy. The ALL Star selection last year did not help Markov one bit and he played some of his worst hockey after the break, especially in the playoffs. To me Price has played well and is one reason we are fourth ing the standings. Komy has improved out defence since returning and id obviously valuable to our team. The rest of the guys need to get the extra rest and get health
- habs#1fan : Everyone (non Habs fans) needs to quit bitching and whining and deal with it, or do away with the voting process altogether. Let the League itself decide. Oh yeah then we would have an all star team full of Laffs. GO HABS GO!!!!!!!

- habs#1fan : So friggin sick of the bitchin and whinin everyone is doing about the all star selections. Price and Markov are there and justifiably so. Komi is one of the leagues best hitter and shot blocker as we all know. Kovy is the only questionable one, Ovechkin should have probably got it.

- PACTUM SERVA : I understand that any team can be beaten on any given night but unless the habs get a little more muscle up front this team is going knowhere fast
- PACTUM SERVA : Tampa came out with a game plan.....Hit and hit hard....hit anything that moves. When teams do that to the habs they run and hide under a rock.
- PACTUM SERVA : Well to me i kind of do get worried when these teams below 500 give us trouble. Are we not suppose to be a cup contender this year?
- Senet1 : Personally, guys would not be so upset about us having trouble beating TB. Every team has their one or two teams that they have problems with, and it does not matter if they are a high or low place team. That team just gives them fits. The more important test was been to date is the Philly game and the Detroit game as well as the Pittsburgh game. We came to play in those games and won them. Tampa will give us trouble until Laclavier and St. Louis no longer play for that team. Really I expe

- habs#1fan : A early xmas gift 8-2 Laffs embarrased. I said it before, me personally the next best thing to a Hab victory is a Laff loss. Thanks Santa. All things considered we are in OK shape. Not making excuses and all those other typical cliches but injuries have been a big factor. Along with average play by a great deal of the team. GO HABS GO
