  • Habs sign Mathieu Dandenault

The Canadiens have signed free agent defenseman Mathieu Dandenault to a 4 year deal worth $7 million.

Dandenault is a solid defenseman who will be a welcome addition to the habs blue line.

His 1.75 million a year seems like a steal when compared to what Brisebois was signed for.

The Habs roster is slowly but surely filling in , will there be any more additions?

  • Habs Re-sign Alexei Kovalev

Montreal has re-signed skilled forward Alex Kovalev. The deal is over 4 years at 4.5 million a year.

The general consensus was Kovalev probably wouldn’t return to the tricolore, rumours had him going to familiar Pittsburgh. Having just signed Sergei Gonchar for 25 million, maybe they couldn’t afford him.

The reason is irrelevant, Kovalev is a dangerously skilled offensive threat and brings much needed offense.

Bob Gainey got out of bed and did some work this morning, let’s hope there’s more to come.
