  • Spezza’s Sens sink Habs

Wow. What a goal by Jason Spezza. Probably the highlight goal of the year so far. If you didn’t see it, I’m sure it will be shown over and over again. Spezza undressed Sheldon Souray and Jose Theodore and tucked the puck under the crossbar to give the Sens an overtime win.

The Canadiens played the Senators hard and but again got into penalty trouble. Sloppy turnovers let the Sens back into the game. It was quite evident that Richard Zednik was not 100%. You could argue both 3rd and 4th Ottawa goals were his fault. He had the puck on his stick in the slot and failed to get rid of it turning it over which lead to Ottawa banging in the tying goal. In overtime he once again had the puck in the offensize zone and made a weak play coughing it up which sent Spezza in on his break. Earlier in the 1st period, Zednik had a chance to come in with speed off the wing, the typical Zednik move would be to protect the puck with his body while driving the net – instead he opted for a weak wrist shot from well out. It’s obvious he isn’t ready to play yet.

Ryder and Ribeiro continue to find the back of the net. They are playing well with each other and will only get better once they get a steady linemate.

The Canadiens cannot afford to go down 5-3, especially to a team like the Senators. The Ottawa powerplay made short work with the chances they got.

Jose Theodore deserves some breathing room. Theodore had an outstanding game and kept the Canadiens in it early on. 38 saves including a spectacular save late in the 3rd. Definitely his best effort of the year.

Overall, getting a point on the road against the best team in the league isn’t all that bad. The Canadiens head home to take on the Rangers Saturday night.

  • Sheldon Souray Domestic Dispute

TSN.CA is reporting Sheldon Souray was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife former Playboy model Angelica Bridges. Charges have not been pressed and Souray will be in the lineup tonight in Ottawa.

  • Senet1 : Bickell would be a good pickup.
  • HabsLoseAgain : He is a ufa if I am not mistaken. Seems to be having a good playoff so far.
  • HabsLoseAgain : Wonder if marc bergevin with his old Chicago ties might be able to bring bickell on board. He would be just what the habs are looking for imo
  • HabsLoseAgain : Not sure if this has been discussed already but what does everyone think of roland melanson coming out and say how prices game has fallen apart since he was let go by the habs. Does not really say much when he is the goalie coach for the canucks in my opinion
  • Senet1 : Signing Drewiske may tell us that there are plans to remove Diaz, Weber and maybe even Markov. Drewiske did not have enough time to learn our defensive system and I am thinking that he was signed because they feel he can be a good defenceman for us with time to learn the system. It also tells me that probably only one of the young D-men will make our team that being Tinordi. Beaulieau will probably play (start) in Hamilton.
  • Mats Naslund : Habs sign Davis Drewiske to a 2 year extension. He basically makes league minimum. I like the signing. Nothing exciting - but you want him to hold the last spot until a young guy forces his way onto the roster.
