Back to work.

The Habs lace em up tonight in Tronna in what should be a great return to action after the All-Star break.
The Canadiens were desperate heading into the two final games before the break after having their worst slump of the year. They pulled off two huge wins against strong teams in Atlanta and Buffalo and most of that slump is forgotten.
Which team will show up tonight? The same team that beats Division leaders or the team that struggled so badly in January?
The Christmas break preceded the Canadiens slump, hopefully the All-Star break won’t breed similar results.
The Leafs always raise their game when playing the Canadiens and tonight should be another interesting matchup.

- Senet1 : He may just bring all three of the kids up.
- muller93 : MB is forced to go out and get a big D-man. Missing Emelin for almost half the season is the last thing we needed to hear. Now going out and getting a big D-man is a MUST!!!
- muller93 : Now for the Fu**en Bruins who have no business even being in the second round are going to get a nice rest. Yes the same goons who took out one of best D-man for 6 more months. There is NO Fu**en justice. Just venting--Ok i feel better now.
- muller93 : So pissed to see the Rangers lay down and play like total crap. How did the Rangers beat the Caps? This team is playing with no heart--a must win and can only muster 23 shots...PATHETIC !!!
- muller93 : Senet I did see Galchenyuks goal--Made a great move for the game winner. You can see the kid has so much confidence.
- goalie : If Rangers get swept I wonder if Tortorella will get his walking papers? Or Glen Sather? They have tons of 'talent' but zero wins in this series.
- goalie : It's really too bad we lost to the Sens as we would have played the Rangers and the way NYR are playing we would have beat them too. If only. If only!
- Senet1 : Actually I agree it was a good move for them to play a shorter season and get the experience. He could not have played in the minors this year he would have had to play junior or the NHL. However, he now has a year under him and knows what to expect next year and hopefully take a bigger responsibility on the team. Did you see those two goals in the bronze game? Wow.
- muller93 : Good move by the Habs not having Galchenyuk play in the minors. Now Galchenyuk has 1 year in the NHL and playoff experience this is going to pay off big time come next year.
- Senet1 : Galchenyuk scores to back to back goals in shoot out to help USA win Bronze metal. I did not see the second goal but the first was a beauty.
- Senet1 : So we could pick anywhere from 25th to 23rd depending on who wins these quarter final series.
- Senet1 : First, is the 14 teams in the lottery. Then there are 12 teams that did not make the semi finals in the order of the seasonal finish, Then there are the four teams in the semi final the first two eliminated pick in the order of the regular season points total and the last two based on who wins and who loses the cup. So as it stand now if say Detroit beats Chicago then Detroit moves up to pick after us. Boston or NYR will move up and pick after us. LA or San Jose will move up and pick after us
- Senet1 : Basically, I was wrong about the draft pick situation. There are three groups of drafting teams within the 30 teams.
- Senet1 : seriously ready to challenge for the cup. He will us win games but he will not be the difference between winning the cup and not winning the cup. You pick up players like that once you have the team ready to challenge,.
- Senet1 : I am looking at the players to draft and there are a lot of big 6'3-6'5 forwards available ion the draft this year. If we could draft 3-4 big young players in the 2nd and 3rd round why would you want to give that up for a roster player who may have 2-3 years at best. If we are going to build a winner to have to build it with bigger players and there are a lot of good big players available this year. So you sign Ott and he is with us for the short run, but probably not when we are seriously re
- Senet1 : Boullion is a great mentor for the young D-men
- muller93 : Boullion is one of MBs great additions--Boull ion is a definite Keeper.
- muller93 : Getting rid of Kaberle frees up a lot of cash. Boullion is small but is reliable and doesn't back down from anyone.
- muller93 : Exactly Goalie any thoughts on a punishing D-man?
- goalie : They;re showing determination adn skill vs Ducks and Blackhawks.
- goalie : REd Wings could turn out to be the surprise team of this year's playoffs!
- goalie : WE need to rid our team of Kaberle and Webber. Step two would be to then move Diaz. If we get that big d-man I believe that would push Boullion to # 7 on the chart. We'd then go with Georges, PK,Markov (to continue mentoring Ememlin) Tinordi as our starting six . THEN I'd be excited about our chances. We could then work on getting bigger forwards.
- goalie : I too would gladly give up a 3rd round pick for Ott- the type of player we sadly lack. AND if we could get one more rugged, expeienced defenceman it would help immensely.
- muller93 : Senet what you are saying makes sense but if we can get Ott for a 3rd round I'll take that all day.
- muller93 : MB should be looking at a big D-man first, even though I like our blue line with the addition of Tinordi. We need that insurance just in case one gets injured. Also I'm a firm believer in starting with the goalie first then-defense-for wards-and we already have good goalie. We have all noticed when we have the lead Price is tough to beat.
- Senet1 : So sometimes you have to sacrifice for one year or two to build that team in the draft. then add the finishing touches through FA and trades.
- Senet1 : Muller, Detroit is another good example. They have been in the hunt every year with good well balanced teams yet only one or two cups to show for it. However, they have built a team that has a chance every years for the last 10+ years. That is what I think we have a chance to do this year with a good draft. It reminds me of the habs teams of the mid 80 and 90's we built a team then with sold draft picks and won the cup twice during that time period. So sometimes you have to sacrifice a one
- muller93 : Very true Senet, you do need luck and we haven't had any luck it seems since the habs moved to the Bell Center. We had an incredible run in 2010 with some crazy goal tending from Halak. With Galchenyuk-Tinor di-Gallagher all in 1 year--not too bad, even with an early exit in the playoffs.
- Senet1 : Muller I guess we all have our own ideas, but there has never been too many times that were successful when they traded their draft picks away. We have a chance to build this team so we have a shot at winning the cup over the next 10 years. Even as good as Pittsburgh has been they have only won the cup once since Crosby and Malkin have been with the team. That is because you not only need great players but you need luck to win, but one thing about Pittsburgh they have a chance every year. The
- muller93 : Good point on Torres, he might be a liability. Torres has to tone it down a bit, but that's his game-very aggressive.
- goalie : Though I don't condone what Raffi Torres did - thos shows you how repeat offenders or near offenders are going to be treated. His hit was NOT illegal BUT what the rap sheet adn reputation Torres has he got severly punished. Lesson to be learned by OTHER players because Torres dopesn't learn fromk his mistakes.
- muller93 : Senet normally I would agree with you on not trading draft picks but we are not in a rebuilding stage. Sometimes draft picks can be a roll of the dice and it can take up to 3 years to be NHL ready. We have a good team and I agree with Stuo players like Clowe-Torres-Ott -Scott will make a big difference. Somebody has to protect Gallagher, he can't keep getting hit the way does--we need a tough forward so they think twice before going after Gallagher.
- Senet1 : Really a heathly Habs team would probably win more games against the Pens that we did against the Sens. Reason they Pens would not play as physical against us as against the Sens. If we get good goaltending we win at least two games.
- zpezada4ok : hello all «link»
- stuo11 : hes a tougher big guy too! Just a minor adjustment but will help a bit

Everytime we play the Habs get a penalty in the first 3 minutes against the LEafs. Why? BEcause we let them outskate us the first few shifts and Rivet takes stupid penalties.
GO HABS GO
January 27, 2007 at 7:06 pm
TSN has Garth Murray playing the 4th line tonight on their “ICE CHIPS” page… he’s still a ‘Dog right? I never read about him being called up. BUT Steve Begin IS BACK BABY!
January 27, 2007 at 7:59 pm
Murray was placed on waivers, but when no one picked him up the Habs kept him with the team, ostensibly to keep working on whatever issues he has with the big club.
Hopefully the Habs rested well. While the wins against ATL and BUF were big in terms of restoring confidence, the Habs have always done well against ATL (and any team dependent on one or two scoring lines). And the Sabres were coming off a hard fought win the night before in Buffalo, and arrived in Montreal in the wee hours of the next morning. The were tired and looked it.
Still, the downward-spiralling Leafs are probably on the same challenge level. Let’s hope for similar results!!
January 27, 2007 at 8:55 pm
THE LAZY TEAM IS PLAYING!!!!!!
Leafs already scored on 2 PP attempts! we’re down 2-0!
Why do the habs play their WORST hockey against Toeonto?
Why didn’t the habs show up in the 1st period?
I don’t understand this team. They just had a WHOLE WEEK OF VACATION!
LAZY, LAZY, LAZY, bunch of losers!
January 27, 2007 at 9:05 pm
Its sad, Carbo says he can’t do it, same with Muller. How can you be the coach and the *** Coach and say things like that about your own players? Talk about a vote of no confidence in Gainey’s picks!
There, for all of you people that say Gainey is God, and he made these great trades, hey where are they? Where are the Great Hockey Players of Montreal? Where is the Dynasty HUH?
This is what we are facing coming into our 100th year anniversary, a ho hum team with a coaching staff who think their players are ****.
Hey, Souray is great, Koivu is great. The defense is not there. What the hell is Gui doing getting penalties, maybe Carbo should be told, if your team leaders Sakku and Alexei say its okay to get hooking penalties all the time, why are you complaining Carbo about the team getting penalties? This is your team leaders, Saku says its okay to get hooking penalties, he leads by example. Why complain when you lose games to hooking penalties? Come outta retirement Carbo and Muller you ********, come on, get on the ice, make Montreal great again cause your constant line changes and penalizing great rookies by sending them down to the Dogs sucks big time!
January 27, 2007 at 9:05 pm
If the Hab’s don’t skate, they are done. They are a small team with zero toughness. Their defense are a bunch of wimpy pussie’s. This team need’s some size and fucken toughness. When there’s a guy standing in Huet’s face, FUCKEN take the guy out.
January 27, 2007 at 9:14 pm
Montreal leads the NHL on two statistics:
One is Hooking Penalties.
The second is for the most times that Souray knocks his own goalie over.
Sheldon its the guy standing in Huet’s face you gotta knock down, not Huet. And what is Carbo doing? Get Carbo a rocking chair and a pair of knitting needles, he’s already meandering on about how great a defenseman he was and how the Habs defense could use him….or better yet, get Carbo a pair of skates and a stick and get him on the ice…..
January 27, 2007 at 9:15 pm
I am the only one thinkink joshtm and WICKSTER is the same person.
Joshtm: May I ask you a question?
-where do you live (basement, house, apartment) and what residence?
- How old are you?
I was just wondering….
January 27, 2007 at 9:33 pm
I’m six years old, in a basement and next door to you, you pervert…
January 27, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Hey Pactum stop your **** won’t you? This site is for Habs fans, not for fans of dumping on fans….
Definitely Montreal needs a real defense. With Carbo and Gainey not talking to each other, we’ll never get a real team. This is what happens when you get a rich American (Gilette) who doesn’t give a damn if Montreal wins or not, and a GM who is only too happy to take the big paycheck and doesn’t care to win neither, and a coach who shoulda gone selling cars instead of pretending to be a coach and taking his two bestest buddies as assistants…
January 27, 2007 at 9:48 pm
After Sundin’s goal, they shown Gainey looking pretty pissed off, me to Bob!!!
January 27, 2007 at 9:50 pm
Now, we’ve allowed 3 PP GOALS TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE TRADE SOURAY ASAP!!!! He is by far the worst defenceman in the league!
1) he takes penalties(1 tonight) while his team is on the PP
2) he passes the puck straight up the ice in his defensive zone, to the OPPOSITION!
We can’t beat leafs, no matter who is on this fuc@#$%^(&ing team!!!!!!
I’m sick of losing to leafs, and I’m sick of habs not showing up!!
Fire Carbo, because he can’t EVER get his team motivated!
How the hell do you give up 3 PP goals to leafs????????
absolutely disgusted with the habs. they STINK!!!!!
January 27, 2007 at 10:03 pm
The refs and their stupid calls and NON-CALLS are ruining the NHL.
January 27, 2007 at 10:04 pm
I have watched this team now and I can see why they can’t score 5-5. They don’t know how to set each other up. It’s futile. They get a 3-2 and they play to lose the puck…no shot on net. Go figure you can’t score. Samsonov looks out of place and all the lines are off-side or out of position….
No one is skating…the Leafs are and the score shows it.
Go back to basics…hit and stay in your position and skate going forward and back. The Leafs are getting the bounces but the Habs are sure helping them out. I have a feeling that Bob’s ready to pull the trigger on a trade.
I think Souray is gone. Especially if we can get quality in return. I’m hoping Samsonov’s going too and wouldn’t be too upset if Rivet went also.
Markov looks like **** and where is there anything positive, I have a hard time picking anyone from this game after 2 periods. That’s very sad…every part of the Habs game sucks tonight…especially all these stupid penalties…hard to be a fan of these players…Kovalev’s invisible too. Huet is left out to hang (remember Patrick Roy too suffered some of these types of games prior to moving on to Colorado). They have to win this third period, hit the Leafs and shoot on net…Come on! Go Habs Go!
January 27, 2007 at 10:17 pm
Guys, remember that horrible habs team(before the last 2 wins),
THEY’RE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!
Gainey, better get on that phone to GM’s, or we’re going to be in 9th place, in 2 weeks time!
leafs look like world beaters tonight. beating the **** out of us, now down
4-1. There is nothing worse than losing to leafs. it absolutely turns my stomach. I hate Toronto, with a passion!
I’m not watching any more leaf habs games!
January 27, 2007 at 10:54 pm
Absolutley disgusting! The current Montreal Canadien team has no fucken fight in them at all. They got their ***’s kicked and I don’t just mean on the scoreboard.
Get in a fucken scrap take a run at someone do something to show some fight and heart. This is a gutless team you have Gainey
Call up Biron and O’Byrne get some size. Quit sitting on your fucken hand’s Gainey because the Hab’s well NOT make the playoff’s!
January 27, 2007 at 11:02 pm
These guys never learned the lesson of the SLUMP I guess. If they can’t get up for the Toronto Maple Laffs on a saturday night then they might as well stay the hell home. This team needs major changes if they continue to play the way they are. The early part of the season was an illusion. They are not nearly as good as they seem because they do not want to pay the price. If Begin were back I feel they would be more accountable on the ice due to his work ethic and grit. Some of the calls were questionable as well but that is no excuse for the way the Habs have been playing for the last 6 weeks or so. Why is it that they cannot make a cross rink pass without the other team intercepting it? They need a team meeting to straighten things out(perhaps a fist fight or two) OR they need a HEART TRANSPLANT!! RIP Gump(Gumper) Worsley:(( ONE OF THE GREATS!!
January 27, 2007 at 11:02 pm
In case you are wondering which team showed up: The badminton team accidently got on the wrong bus, dressed out as the Montreal Canadiens, and were trounced by the leafs. On a brighter note, the Habs beat the bejesus out of the Newfoundland Badminton All-Stars 8 sets to 3.
January 27, 2007 at 11:12 pm
leafs scored 3 PP goals! yet they are 30th in the league with the man advantage!
Habs make every team look good against them. habs have now LOST 6 OF THEIR LAST 8! pathetic. Aside from Koivu, Markov, and maybe Higgins,(not sure about Higgins), their isn’t a single player I wouldn’t trade. They are all trade bait, because they all stink! And for all you hab fans, face reality. this teams shows up only when they feel like it, about 50% of the time.
I noticed that the reason they can’t score at even strength, is because they take too much time with the puck. They are very slow at making decisions, and most of the time they make the wrong decisions because they have no idea what to do with the puck. that’s partly because they have no talent, no work ethic, and no discipline. They pass too much and don’t shoot enough. Tonight Plekanec had an open man, and waited too long, and then lost any opportunity they had.
They need a quick trigger man, the way Hull used to shoot, so quick, and with good reflexes.
I don’t care if they don’t make the playoffs, because they will be eliminated in 4 straight anyways. They would probably face NJ,Carolina, or Buffalo, none of which they can beat. So I have lost all my patience with this team. Without trades, this team will not get any better. It has nothing to do with changing lines! THERE IS NO TALENT ON THIS TEAM! THAT’S WHY THEY CAN’T SCORE 5 ON 5!
January 27, 2007 at 11:22 pm
also, what bothers me, is the habs aren’t COMPETITIVE! they don’t give 100%.
Getting rid of Kovalev(because his non working ethics), will help. he is a CANCER! Samsonov is a total waste, and Souray can’t pass to his players, only to the opposition. This is just a bunch of MISFITS!
January 27, 2007 at 11:35 pm
hey, i was all happy when i got home from my qualifying run for crashed ice. the red bull event. i am going to quebec city to compete against the world in the most insane downhill ice skating competition. on the other hand i got to watch my favorite team get manhandled by the team i hate the most in the whole nhl. i can”t beleive we fall asleep for the most important games. carbo and gainey need to have a sit down and disect this team. bring grabovsky back. lapierre dosen’t do anything for me. oh wait!!! was that another give away??? yeah i guess it was. no surprise though. i’m used to seeing it all. what needs to get done so the habs show up for every game and make pretend like it’s the last one they will ever play. get some desperation going on. really frustrating to watch a team that you know is so good but can’t get their **** together for more than 5 minutes at a time. come on boys!!! sort it out and let’s get back to our winning ways. remember??? early season??? when the team worked together and 2 points were going up every game. let’s get it back. gainey, carbs, it’s up to you to speak up and take the bull by the horns. don’t wait too long!!! that’s it, i’m out. stoked that i am going to the big red bull show in Q C. i’ll be wearing the tricolore regardless of what happens between now and then. habs 4 life baby!!!!!
January 27, 2007 at 11:55 pm
Now here you all go crapping all over the team with the same old bile (Souray must go, Samsonov sucks, Kovalev’s a cancer, blah blah blah). I HATE, repeat, HATE losing to the Leafs but I’m not going to **** all over these guys, they aren’t perfect… but I sure don’t see the same as you. I like Kovalev, he is talented and worth keeping, I like Samsonov but then again, I don’t expect 50 goals out of him, I like Craig Rivet, he’s always worked hard, I like Souray, Johnson, Downey, Aebischer and most of whom you don’t… oh well. BUT there is are some on this team, I’ve never wrapped my head around as to why they are still on this team… what is so great about Francis Bouillon? Why are Tomas Plekanec and whatever-his-first-name-is Perezhogin still on this team? Why do you all love Maxim Lapierre? AND WHY CAN’T YOU SEE HOW UTTERLY USELESS ANDREI MARKOV STILL IS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF WAITING FOR HIM TO BLOSSOM????? Again, all this team REALLY NEEDS IS SOME BLOOD AND GUTS HEART AND GRIT and here’s a beer to Bobby Gainey hoping he’ll find some players that emulate the kind of player he was, WHEN THE **** IS STEVE BEGIN COMING BACK??? ****, I hate the Leafs…
January 27, 2007 at 11:59 pm
Nice vent eh?
January 28, 2007 at 12:04 am
Hey ,if the LAFFS had their A team playing tonite, who knows what the outcome could of been??? …I just thought I’d beat the never say die guy’s with some stupid comment and get it out of the way.

HIGH 4 HABS:
FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY SOMEONE SAID WHAT I HAD TO SAY. ENOUGH SAID
JUST TO CLARIFY MYSELF, HABS ARE SLOW IN MAKING decisions. WOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!
It’s hilarious the number of chances they had. \habs could have runned that game. They take more than an hour to make a frickin pass, and when they make it it’s too late.
I’m sorry guy, but I think Joshtm has a point. Maybe our real problem is Carbonneau.(MAYBE………)
Remember he is a defensive player, and tends to bring a form of defencice play to this clu, but results are negative. Our defence suck and that makes our offence suck even more. C’mon let’s play as a team. We need some offence.
I want to make some poins out here:
1) Defencemen, saty where you are. you guys are not helping the offence. You know what they make me think off when they try to play the role of offencive players while they cannot even manage to perfrom their role at the firt place?
They look like a worker hat tries to perform as a CEO.
2) Concerning offence: Make quick paces. Shoot the damn pucks. Do not even look at the goalie, JUST SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK !
3) Huet: Really, I have nothing to say. A cool-temper person whcich makes him a great number 1 goalie. The team plays like ****, but the goalie still manages to call his nerves. High five to Huet.
4) We do not need PETER FORSBERG. If you want to aquire a player, it will be one of the following: 1.Datsyuk 2.Lecavalier 3.Marleau(IMPOSSIBLE) 4. one of you guys choose it lol!( I DO NOT CARE WHAT WILL BE RHE PRICE TO ACQUIRE THESE PLAERS. I AM READY TO THROW MARKOV AND EVEN KOIVU IN THE PACKAGE)
If Habs follow the following instrucion, they will be a much better team.

I think that maybe Carbo has lost this team. he’s too aggressive, and not much patience. We must think this year is a rebuilding process. This team, even with luck and mirrors, just doesn’t have the horses! Their record is not indicative of their play. they are much worse than their overachieving play in the first 30 games. I fear they will be at best a 500 team the rest of the season, unless changes happen, and very soon. Having said that, I just want a team I can be proud of, and one that will compete game in and game out. If you lose by 3 goals, or get beaten by 8 goals, there is no effort, no skating, just a lazy who cares attitude. These results must be partially blamed on the coaches. If you can’t get your team motivated to come out skating, then maybe you shouldn’t be coaching. After all, leafs had the same 1 week vacation, and they weren’t out of sync. So who’s to blame? Food for thought.
January 28, 2007 at 12:43 am
no wait…I take it all back. This is a well groomed team. The playmaking was excellent. The players back-checked didn’t give up any scoring opportunities. The shots that rang off the post were just aberations. The penalties and those from behind boarding (Souray) calls were the refs taking out their frustrations on the Leafs. They didn’t want to score on those short-handed situations because they have had too many already and wouldn’t want to show-boat and cause the Leaf fans more misery. The giveaways are not give-aways, the coaching staff has decided that it’s better to revert to shinny style of playmaking so the fans would appreciate a fun loving approach to hockey. It’s called the laisse-faire and come into our zone and make yourself at home. Come in front of our net and don’t worry because we’re going for the Bill Masterton trophy. This disciplined style with setting up each other and maintaining pressure on the other team is not the way to go….afterall, Bettman called in a favour asking the Habs to play uselessly for the remaining games as they used up all the points that they are allowed in the first half and now can only earn a point if they can in a shoot out format which means they can only get 1 point. The disciplined approach is too demanding and builds body odour and we can’t have smelly outfits as our membership with AVON is costing Gillette too much competition and we have to increase shareholders approval and we can only do this if we present a good clean non-chalant demeaner on the ice. Front office is now taking app’tments for picture with the players as it’s shown that fostering good relations gets extra points with the GM and coaching staff for a newly award…mellow&happy donated by the new Habs club (we’re taking on the Leafs moto – just happy to a Habs fan – love & happiness to all)and having clean non-hurt and non-scarred players is the key. Alright the Habs put on their skates and looked sharp with the uniform on and when they entered the dressing room after a beautiful effort of smooth sailing for 60 minutes, their equipment didn’t even need to be washed or hung to dry. They were well…good to go for next game…they were put quickly into fresh-smelled new equipment bags provided by the local AVON representative – goodwill from the new stance against smelly, hard-working, hitting, in your face type hockey that only goes against the very prestigious principles that AVON holds true. Yeah, the fans are cheering “That’s our team can you smell them, don’t you want their autographs!’ ‘Well, we sure do’ ‘Go Habs Go! The colours of the uniform are so pretty’ ‘That’s our team’ ‘We love them no matter what’ ‘Yeah our team’s the best’…..mmmm $%#$#$*
What a waste!!

Million dollar contracts, Pro sports athletes are saposed to be self motavated.Habs are playing like spoiled little sissy’s and the new uniforms should go from red to PINK.

I hate losing to Toronto more than anything, and why are the habs always the first team to allow the first goal!!!….Bob Gainey needs to sign more french players, thats the only way we’ll get another Stanley cup.

For those who missed the Montreal sports report on TV following the game, they interviewed Souray, and here’s what he had to say: ” we played without any emotion, no desire, and no commitment. Before the game, in the dressing room, everyone was very quiet. It seems every time we play the leafs, they get really pumped up emotionally to play us, and we never show that same emotion. I guess that’s why they always beat us!” These are the sentiments echoed by Souray.
he is correct. This team exhibits NO EMOTION. Without emotion and desire, you can’t win and will never be successful. WE have the WRONG group of players. They will never achieve success. Higgins and Ryder are NOT the same players they were last year. Higgins used to play with desire, where is it?
Thank you Mr. Kovalev for killing all our emotions!

holy ****…a news report just in…
seems that Sammy-boy was miked today…and while the play was being reviewed by the booming shot of O’neal…he was overhead talking to (unconfirmed report that it might have been to Kovalev)…aaah yeah!…they think they’re giving up on me and that I have nothing left…at this moment in time video shows Sammy skating in his usual quick-darting in/out maneuvering with some effectiveness; getting closer to the Leaf bench and then yup, with precise & unrelenting technique….letting one go. I mean a big mother-of-a-one!! And the whole Leaf bench seemed to be swaying while trying to hold and catch their breadth…after further translation and clarification…
it is revealed Samsonov said, I’ll show them what I’ve got that’s worth 3.5 million…
It was revealed that security guards were able to catch some unsuspecting fans nearby from causing any sparks which would have caused another one of those Richard moments in the stands…excellent coverage by CBC.

January 28, 2007 at 4:02 am
WOW!!! i have the cure for all your frustrations. tell yourself quietly in your head “it’s only a game”. then walk away from the TV and go for a walk. seroiusly, i used to get all hot and angry when they lost. sure i have concerns for my favorite team. but to hear all this “WE SUCK” and “OUR TEAM IS ****” is getting real old. it’s making this website look bad and it’s getting stale. over it!!!!

January 28, 2007 at 10:03 am
of all the quotes above….this one wins:
“If they can’t get up for the Toronto Maple Laffs on a saturday night then they might as well stay the hell home”
#2….not that it matters but the leafs arent #30 on the pp…they are 5th.
I watched rds ( of course), but I’m assuming that Ron MacLean had an ****** on national television.
I’ve been a fan of the habs since 1966. I thought I had seen it all. This is actually the first time I’ve seen the habs not care if the leafs beat them or not. They really didnt….they just wanted to get back on the plane and go home.
joshtm is right about wanting Carbs and Muller to suit up. They played like they cared ALL the time.
I think that is Carbos Worst frustration….he doesn’t understand how someone ( or in this case everone )could play this game with no emotion, and really not care.
maybe ( maybe) joshtm is right. Maybe carbs really has lost this team. If that is so, say goodbye to Carbs Mr. Gainey, and thank him for the try. Bring back Pat Burns! He says he wants to come back now. If anybody could whip the bejesus out of a bunch of overpaid prima donnas, he can.Honestly?….who gives a **** if their happy?….not everyone loves their job and they have to deal with it.Take your millions but take your shots too.If you dont like it..Too ******* Bad.
January 28, 2007 at 10:46 am
Thanks Izzy, I am still pissed at the HORRENDOUSLY PISS POOR EFFORT put out by the Habs against the Maple Duds. I heard Souray’s quote on TSN this morning. He is right on, BUT, why in HELL can’t they look in the mirror and actually DO something to stop bleeding? No desire you say Mr. Souray? That is a gross understatement to say the least!!
January 28, 2007 at 10:55 am
They need to drop their gloves often, No ******* emotion, they need more french players!!!! I hope Begin returns for the game against Ottawa..
January 28, 2007 at 12:27 pm
Need more french players? Please. What they need is for all the Europeans on the team to realise is that when they put on that sweater they are no longer Russian, Finnish, Swedish, Czech, or Swiss for the next 2 and a half hours, they are Montreal Canadiens and they’re playing their biggest rivals that always show up against MTL. Next time maybe they should just forfeit. It would be less embarrassing.
And they need more canadien boys period. Not just french canadians.
January 28, 2007 at 12:33 pm
In no way can one Steve Begin fix all the problems for the habs. I think Koivu should give the C to Souray and Gainey has to get a big ,in your face, sleeping canadian bear by the name of”IF U **** AROUND I’LL BREAK YOUR NEAK” BURTUZZZZZZIIIIIIIII!!!!
January 28, 2007 at 2:16 pm
How the hell can we lose to the Leafs? You know all the Leafs fans will be rubbing it in my face today and for the next month until we play them again, anyone else in the same boat? Why do we always suck against the Leafs? We never play well against them, at least not this season. Last year we played well against them. Why can we beat Buffalo and Ottawa(not including that 8-3 blowout a couple of weeks ago) but not Toronto? We play with passion against those teams but not your most hated and bitter rivals? They even play well against the Bruins. Why is that? Are they ******* afraid of the Leafs or what? Is there an inferiority complex when it comes to the Laffs? What the **** is it when they play the Leafs? WHY? Some of you people try and help me out because I am out of answers here. However, let’s get ONE THING STRAIGHT HERE: THE HABS ARE BETTER THAN THE LEAFS. Souray even said so. They have shown they are the better team, just like they were last year. However, they don’t play to their potential against the Leafs. During those two games last year when the Canadiens won both games in Montreal in late March, they played with passion and emotion. They were fired up for those games, then why not this season? Give me some clues, guys!

It’s time to start the rebuilding process, AGAIN!
Get rid of almost half the team, because there are NO untouchables!
It’s actually better to give up a year(finish in last place), in order to get a star like Crosby. Look at Pittsburgh now. They are going to finish higher in the standings than us, but so is everyone else.
Face it guys, we have no offence, or defence. We can’t score 5 on 5, and we can’t stay out of the penalty box. We will be damn lucky if we squeeze into 8th place. But what’s the point of just squeezing in? we would face NJ.
I say, trade the whole team and play everyone from Hamilton. They can’t be any worse, and at least they would show heart, energy, and desire.
From now on, when we play the leafs, I’m betting on leafs. I’ve had it with these losers. How come habs can’t get up emotionally for the leafs? why not?
I don’t think they deserve to put on that CH jersey. And Koivu is NOT A LEADER!
He’s no better than the rest of no shows. SHAME ON THEM! they should be ashamed and thoroughly embarrassed of themselves. Sundin and the leafs are laughing at our team because they know they can beat us any time they want! And they’re right!
January 28, 2007 at 3:57 pm
High 4 Habs, you are a moron, everybody better disregard his post before mine… Rebuild? Get rid of half the team? Koivu’s not a leader???? Let’s see you come back from cancer, you piece of ****, it’s a proven fact that the players in that dressing room, love, respect and would do anything for their captain, they have said so much so give your head a shake. And Ziman, I walked into my dressing room this morning for our Sunday skate (in Grand Valley, ONTARIO, Leaf COuntry) and they gave me the gears til I said “see you fuckers in the Playoffs” in half jest but all those Leaf fans all admit the Habs are the better team and the Leafs ain’t gonna be anywhere near a rink in April… and for the rest of you who say they suck and this and that… WELL GO CHEER FOR ANOTHER TEAM YOU SPINELESS ********, US “REAL” HAB FANS DON’T NEED YOUR PATHETIC BULLSHIT HERE, FROM WHAT I READ, NONE OF YOU KNOW **** ABOUT HOCKEY ANYWAY.
January 28, 2007 at 4:00 pm
I AM SO TIRED OF YOU FAIR WEATHER FANS CRYING AND WHINING WITH ABSOLUTELY THE MOST RIDICULOUS UNEDUCATED (Hockey wise) COMMENTS! I WILL ALWAYS BACK MY TEAM, THICK OR THIN AND SOMEBODY HERE HAS TO SAY THIS SO LET IT BE ME… and I know there’s more here that feel like I do. GET OFF THE BANDWAGON!
January 28, 2007 at 4:10 pm
Is that you Douggie, are you smiler2729? Your pathetic attempts at saying you are a defensive coach sucks big time. This trap style hockey only works if your defense can actually clear the puck out of the zone. With Sheldon’s broken wrists, Markov’s drunken skating, and Rivet’s outta breath plays, heck its no wonder your rookie Dandy there is played over and out and Huet and Abby face a million quality shots. Heck even the basement teams can practice shooting on the habs net!
January 28, 2007 at 4:10 pm
I gave up on these guys after the 8-3 blowout in Ottawa.
I hope Ottawa takes it easy on us tomorrow.
I hate to say it but this team really needs a Bertuzzi (your right on Xhabsfan)
I don’t like the guy but his size is an asset. His heart and passion would be welcome.
Koivu can’t keep taking that abuse in front of the net.
I can assure you that you won’t need to fire him up when we play the Leafs.
Picture it: Bertuzzi smashing the **** out of Tucker, Awesome!
You guys are right on, we do need more North American’s on this team.
However at the same time I would love to grab a Martin Havlet or Nikolai Zherdev.
January 28, 2007 at 4:17 pm
I split my post into 3 posts so it’s easier to read (some of you have no concept of using paragraphs). THIS is the WAY it is, BOB GAINEY is the General Manager, GUY CARBONNEAU is the Head Coach, SAKU KOIVU is the Captain, that is the way it is, that is the way it should be so to belittle them is stupid and basically shows how uninformed (some of) you people are. The team is talented and has the ingredients to be really succesful… I said ‘ingredients” BUT they lack heart and they lack soul lately, they will come around and be fun to watch in the Playoffs and most likely break our hearts because the expectations for this team are too great, a fan base spoiled by domination in the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. Cut these guys and yourselves some slack or you’ll go crazy… cuz you’re making me crazy with the assinine posts.
January 28, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Joshwhatever, you’re an idiot.
January 28, 2007 at 4:35 pm
right on smiler2729. Bring on the Sens!
