Best Worst Goaltender Wins

  • The Habs and Leafs both in a battle for their playoff lives meet tonight in Montreal.

Both coming off losses yesterday due to bad goaltending.

The team that wins tonight is going to be the one with the best goaltending least crappy goaltending.

Andrew Raycroft was pulled in his last visit to Montreal. David Aebischer has played so poorly that Guy Carbonneau is starting Jaro Halak again, who let 5 goals in on 15 shots in his last start.

    What choice does he have?

It’s impossible to predict what kind of effort the Canadiens are going to bring to the table. The goaltending situation needs to improve for them to have any chance at staying in the race.

The Canadiens can overtake the Leafs in the standings with a win tonight.

  1. I keep hearing this same stuff over and over again. YAWN! Do you guys honestly believe the Briere (if playing in Montreal) will not just be another SMALL player who washes out for the Habs? If you are going to dream, dream BIG!

  2. Habs blog:

Can you take Kovalev’s picture off the top pf the screen up there? That picture kinda reminds me of my toothless, demented grandmother who oddly enough used to also pointlessly rant about the “kids today.” However, she, at least, always gave her best effort and could also hit pretty hard.

On the second thought, leave it up there because I kind of miss granny.

Rob Sir. You make me laugh. You are fuuny. Miss my Granny…LOL……

The Leafs lost last night. So did I. Da wife cut me off. Damnit. No nookie for me.

What’s more important? Hockey or Nookie……………..

  4. Dalley1:

The answer to that question depends on whether we are talking playoff hockey or the regular season!

  5. Anyways, stop paying attention to the joshtms of this world! Don’t lose hope yet, kid. Everyone always gets a second chance. You just have to make the most of it when the chance arrives.

April 7: Toronto versus Montreal — Habs in, Laffs out!

    Rob. NOOKIE.

Would you give up nookie for the Habs to make the playoffs?

I love Me Habs. But i’s loves me nookie too.

  7. Dalley 1:

With your playoff beard, your wife is gonna be saying no more often.

However, just to prove my devotion to the team, I am officially giving up nookie until the Habs clinch a playoff spot on April 7! I hope that you are paying attention, Alexei Kovalev, because the Habs’ fans are now sacrificing themselves more than you are!

You can now all witness my transformation into a bitter, miserable dude like joshtm.

And Rob, me wife loves me beard. She says it is very soft on her her skin….but some times it tickles though…………..

But Rob I’s had to trim it Sat. morning. It was too damn itchy. Me trimed beard makes me very handsome see. The habs fans are the best looking Fans in the league as well.

I heard that Joshtm looks alot like Garge Clooney…..It is a compliment to you Sir Joshtm…………

  16. I honestly believe, that if we can win 9 of the remaining 9 games, we have a good shot at getting in the playoffs. But we need to take both games vs the rangers. And If Huet comes back next week, it’s an added bonus, provided we’re still in the race.

typing error. I meant if we can take 6 of the remaining 9 games, we’re in.

we’re not going to win all 9 games. C’mon get real. even if we win 6 games, NYI and leafs and NYR need to lose at least 5 games each. But considering NYI have a very tough schedule, I would count them out(NYI)!

Lets focus on the positive here people. We got the Bruins twice, and then the capitals Saturday. Even Aebischer should be able to get 3 or 4 points with that schedule.

Ah, who am I kidding…Aebischer is brutal, we gotta keep him ridin the pines. Steve Simmons had a good line in Sunday’s Toronto Sun…He asked if the Habs were going to change their goal scoring song out of sensitivity to Kovalev. It’s Vertigo by U2, for those who don’t pay attention. Say, maybe that’s where Kovalev got the idea…Not that we light the lamp often enough for it to get stuck in anybody’s head…

  21. YO it’s the Tricolour one, this name is a good fit for me ,being that I am a long haired fellow, kind of Hippy Dippy where’s the rainbow best west coast feel to it,lol. Can’t wait till we play the chowderheads, hope we rip em a new one,heh heh!Ok let agree to disagree today for old time’s sake and talking about old times! Why not bring the trumpet thing back for inspirations to the Bell Center,”da da da daa da daaaa “!

It’s a tough road but here is what the Habs have to do to get in the playoffs:

Over their last 9 games they have to get:
0/1 point more than the Leafs who have a game in hand(current tiebreaker is wins [habs] or head-to-head points [9 points each] so it could come down to the last meeting)

1 more point than the NYIslanders who have 2 games in hand.

2 points more than the NYRangers who have 1 game in hand.

That will jump them ahead of those three teams into 8th. It will be tough but the Habs remaining games are:
    Home – Bruins
    Away – Bruins
    Home – Capitals
    Home – Rangers
    Away – Senators
    Home – Sabres
    Home – Bruins
    Away – Rangers
    Away – Maple Leafs

The good news is that the Habs have 3 games left against the teams ahead of them and three against the Bruins, 1 against the Capitals, and 5 at home.

  24. Dalley1,both of us are island fellows man,so it’s a given about certain types of recreation activities ,”puff puff give give”, if u get me drift .Not to mention I’ve had many friends from the east coast islands and they are the toughest of all to drink under a table, lol.Post #123 playoffs?,don’t worry about it ,those teams are crap and were going to kill them, oh yeah !!!! GO HABS GO

Looks VERY very bleak for habs now! rangers won tonight, moved into 7th place. Habs are now 2 points out of 8th place(Carolina). Here is the bad news. Carolina has the EASIEST schedule remaining. of their 9 remaining games, the next 2 are at home vs Washington, and SJ, then on the road against Toronto, and Philly. I think it is all over, except for the tears!
The only chance we have won’t come until next Tuesday, when we’ll only have 6 games remaining. The big problem is, all these teams have at least 1 game in hand over us! The habs have to literally WIN ALL REMAINING GAMES TO HAVE A CHANCE! Doesn’t look good! A loss tomorrow, and they can pack their bags, and get out the golf clubs!

Pitsburg beats everyone else but N.Y.

It’s too good to be true that Pitsburg do us a favor right.

Yes it is all over but the crying.

You can thank Carbo for that. Playing Abbyshit.

No one to blame but Carbo “The Wonder Coach”.

  27. Hey guy’s there is still 9 games left so take you hands and grab your balls and that should stop you crawling da walls !

You know what’s really going to hurt? If we miss the playoffs by 1 point, or better still, if we end up tied for 8th, and don’t get in because the other team has more wins. All we can do is pray for a miracle. Is anyone spiritual in mind?

Dalley, your not pulling the plug already are you??? For some reason i think we will end up hearing from you again!!! Especially after the bruins lose tomorrow night and we inch ourselves closer to a playoff spot. We’ll see, i might be wrong. just please don’t come back and call yourself Saku Koivu, for the love of god. The last thing we need on this blog is more habs players!!!
You guys know who you are!!! Good luck tomorrow night boys, hope Halak can keep the ball rolling.

First Dalley1 hopes for a leafs win, and now he’s bailin’…? Well I for one am made of sterner stuff. We got those ugly gold jerseyed pukes tonight, and like Stephen Colbert, I hate bears. We got 3 games left vs the bruins, and it is my fervent desire that we snuff the playoff chances for these godless killing machines. If we beat these ruthless, merciless assassins tonight, and Thursday, it’ll crush their slim playoff hopes, and enhance our own.

That Tim Thomas wriggles around like a baby seal out there, so I say we get Begin to club him one; take him out like Dipietro. We need speedsters like Kostitsyn to skate circles around that 7 foot pylon Chara, who, not surprisingly, isn’t getting too many nods for the Norris this season…

I’ve long hated the Bruins, and their obnoxious fans, and only since the early 90’s have I hated any other team and their fans more(the leafs, of course.) Well tonight that hatred goes full force–woe unto you, Dennis Leary, and other Bruin fans, ’cause we’re comin’ to steal your playoff hopes…

My last trip to the Forum was a Saturday night in March ’96 against the Bruins (the Forum closed about 10 days later vs. Dallas)… Boston won 2-1 but there were, as usual, a lot of Bruin fans up from New England that night and my buddy and I ended partying in the local watering holes with some of them til the wee hours (as is the Montreal way). They were pretty cool about the rivalry and had nothing but respect for the Habs as foes and I pretty much feel the same way: I hate the Bruins but at least I respect them where I hate the Leafs and have no respect for any of their moronic obnoxious know-nothing fans.

    Habs 4, Bruins 3
