Canadiens Canadian Cut

  • Canada’s 2006 World Junior Roster was announced today and several Canadiens prospects were involved.

Carey Price was cut from the team losing out to starter Justin Pogge and runner up Dustin Dubnyk. This is a drag for Canadiens fans. I would have liked to see Price in action in International competition and get a better look at him.

On the brighter side, hometown favorite Guillaume Latendresse will be on the roster and that should give Canadiens fans plenty to watch for. Try comparing how he does against the World’s best Juniors to how you think he’d do against the NHL Top players. He has been less than stellar with his own Junior team, we’ll see if he can showcase himself during the big show.

In more good news, Kyle Chipchura was named Captain of the team. It must say something about his character and he’ll be another intersting story to watch. Despite losing Price, this is the most Canadiens prospects to play in the WJHC in a long time.
