Game 2: Habs/Caps

  • Do we dare dream? Do we dare speak the unspeakable? Are we bold enough to hope that unlike the rest of the NHL’s upset underdogs, the Habs can continue their Cinderella (Plekanec wont like that term) – lets go with “Rudy” run? It seems inconceivable that the Habs would be able to come back to the Bell Centre with a two game advantage, but that is exactly what is on the table before them. Do that and all bets are off for this series. Win tonight and many pundits will be changing their tune. Lose tonight and risk allowing the sleeping giant to roll over in the night. It will take everything we showed Thursday and more. My prediction is that Alex the Great has more shots than anyone on the ice tonight. Jaro will have to be just as magical.

Big game is an understatement. This is the playoffs where every game is do or die. Here’s hoping the Habs still have some left in the tank after an emotional win Thursday.

    Go Habs Go!!!

Our defence will be even more important tonight than last game and so will Halak. The Caps will be pressing and you can count on another storm for the first 10 minutes of this game. If we survive the first 10 minutes then we have a chance to pull the upset. One of a number of good things that came out of the first game. Cammy came out of his slump, Gomez scored, and Plex continued to show his abilities as a leader. Spacek has a mission, Bergero actually played defence when we needed him to and out third and fourth lines continued there strong play. Tonight my prediction is a win with the third and fourth lines each getting a goal. Cammy will get his second and we win in OT again tonight.

Whether it holds true for the entire series, our old guys on defence showed their value in game one. We have been bad mouthing them all season but Gil, Hammer and Spacek all played exceptional games. Gil blocked 9 shots. Hammer continued to play his game without turnovers and Spacek had OV’s nmmber all night. Ane Even Bergeron played solid in his own end. Did you see him take OV off the puck at the corner of the next? Markov even looked much stronger than he has recently. I think Gorges looked a little nervous with this game but he hopefully will get over than and play a stronger game in #2. The best part of our defence was the forwards support in our own end. Defence can look pretty bad without that support, and last night we had it from all players. Let keep it up boys. We have seen this team when it gets on a roll, it can be something special. GO HABS GO!

When you have a team like Wash down…don;t let them up. Martin really messed up…Muller for head coach. Teach him french if thats a requirement. Messing with lines when something is working is just idiotic. Dumbest move ever…how is this guy even hired? Pretty bad when the players are playing great and the coach costs you a big game. My stomach is turned for our warriors who are playing great. Lynch Martin !!!

I could not agree more with you Donnie about Martin, he had never lead a team to a championship in the playoffs. Unfortunately he has a three year contract? Maybe we can trade him away for a first round draft pick????????

Oh hope he does not have a no trade clause in his contract.
