Let me first pay tribute to a man who coached both of the teams in action this evening. Pat Burns was an integral part of the rivalry between the Habs and Leafs on both sides of the fight and will be remembered as a warrior and a leader for both his work behind the bench as well as his battle against the cancer that finally took his life. Burns coached Over 1000 NHL hockey games with the Canadiens, Leafs, Bruins and Devils being crowned Stanley Cup Champion in 2002-03, his second to last year of head-coaching duties in the NHL.
The game tonight will be played between two of his former clubs who need no extra reason to get motivated to play one another. The Habs will try to rebound from the loss that they suffered at the hands of the Nashville Predators on Thursday night. There would be no better way to put that loss behind them than to beat the Leafs on Saturday night in front of the entire Nation.
Yannick Weber will skate next to Benoit Pouliot and Jeff Halpern tonight. I’m not a huge fan of this move. Its been tried before – although I am willing to let Weber prove me wrong. Either way – it would be nice to see some spark on the powerplay that could use an infusion of straight-forwardness.
Big game tonight. Go Habs Go!!
