Game 24: Habs/Canes

  • Can your Montreal Canadiens stiffen up the defense against a Carolina team that has been (somewhat) surprisingly good, and are in the midst of a 4 game winning streak? They had better, because in the last 3 games they’ve given up 15 goals.

And that is pretty shocking considering how stingy the Habs had been up until that point.

I’m in a rush and can’t expand on that thought at the moment – but how do you guys see the Habs defense at this point in the season? Did they simply play over their heads to get into first place, or are they due any moment to return to form?

    Go Habs  Go!!

I think we better simplify our defensive game. We have been playing at a high tempo and sort of got out of that against Pittsburg and played high tempo but wide open hockey, with no defensive awareness. Thid has got us in trouble and too many plays were the shooter is wide open in the slot. Not Many goalies are going to have time to set up for that kind of 15 foot shot. Price may have been off his game per personally I think it was more bad defence than bad goaltending. However, Price is not the typr of player to blame others for those goals, his comment was he had to work harder. Secondly what happened to our PK. I am wondering if our special teams coaches are changing too much becuase we have gone from a good PK team and a good PP team to not so good on either of these specialties.
