All Star weekend is over and it’s back to business.
The Canadiens are coming off of back to back losses and go south to meet Vinny and the Lightning.
I don’t know what to feel about this team any more. Someone get Irvin some smelling salts and get him back behind the Habs’ bench. His services are needed. Most of these guys are a disgrace to the crest.
I was seriously hoping that the all-star break would have given everybody the motivation and rest they needed to come back firing for the post season. Unfortunately we see the exact same team that sputtered into the all-star break with 2 losses. They came out great in the first out-shooting an outmatched Lightning team 20-7 by winning all of the battles and getting the puck on net. Unfortunately, even with the 20 chances, Montreal missed their opportunity to bury their opponents. Tampa worked much harder in the second and was rewarded with some needed puck luck and the Habs folded. It was unfortunate that so many pucks went in off of defender’s legs.. but that is exactly what happens when you put the puck on net. Note to Montreal : put the puck on net.
I’m disappointed that the Lang line was so ineffective. More-so I’m disappointed that all of our trade-able assets had such a poor showing! Our defense has been terrible the last three games, and unfortunately our offense, whether because of the players or system, hasn’t been up to the task of coming from behind. We’re still a long ways from playoff season, but it is hard to have a lot of confidence in this team right now.
I think it’s safe to say that there so many things wrong with that team right now, it’s almost pointless to speculate. Yes, I agree that the 4th may get too much ice time but it’s the only line that keeps me from changing the channel. Too much individuality on every shift especially our PP. Nobody waits to set up, Kovalev is playing like he’s the only guy on the ice and only passes the damn puck when he skates himself into a corner. Lang has lost his confidence and everyone one else has left there brain in the locker room.
Is it too much to ask to just get one good convincing win this year? especially against TB
Carbo had a look on his face all night as if to say “I just don’t know any more”
Carbonneau should have a look of disgust on his face after a performance like that. To me, he looks as helpless and lost as the team does most nights.
Lightning doesn’t strike twice. (Unless of course it’s the Tampa Bay Lightning. ) It’s wishful thinking to believe that the magic of ’93 will find this team. Too many differences.
Cammalleri in Calgary. Score, in every possible sense of the word.
That team is going to challenge for the Western title. If only the Habs had a player like that. Oh, but wait, they do. They have a couple. They’re just invisible right now. Cammalleri actually got off to a rough start in Calgary. It was Keenan, the coach… the coach, who knew how to get him producing, get the entire team playing to their potential.
By the way, Vancouver, how are you enjoying Sundin? What an assinine move that was.
