Game 72: Habs/Laffs

  • Just a short note before tonight’s tilt with the Leafs. Cammy and MAB are still sidelined with their respective ailments. My biggest hope for tonight: Markov skates away without injury. Should be a doozy. Go Habs Go!!!

Well watching the Leafs play if they had played this way all year we would be fighting with them for playoff spot. As it is we are happy to get a point becuase I hate loses and the point I think ties us with Ottawa. If we can keep playing well then we should over take them for either 6th or 5th depending on what Philly do. If fact Buffalo have been inconsistent lately too so if we play well there is an outside possibility of getting top spot in our division????? Long shot but not out of reach with anohter 4 or 5 game win streak.

Like mats and Rocky I am happy we came out of this game wihtout any injuries, only problem is we still have to play the LEAFS one more time. These young leafs are agressive. Some pointed out that we have the easier schedule the rest of the way in but all these losing teams are playing well at the end of the season, they have nothing to loose but their jobs and the young guys are fighting the veterans for a position. So none of these games are going to be easy. Also we have to get Price in the mix soon Halak cannot carry the load and who knows he maybe needs a rest and we need Price ready for the playoffs too.

I was disappointed with the outcome of the game, simply because I feel that we lost this game due to a lack of effort, rather than the Leafs won the game through anything spectacular on their part. How you can go to your biggest rival’s building and not show up with a desire to win is beyond me.

To back up what I have been saying about Gill all year long, did anyone pay attention to the two goals scored? Goal #1 Gill whacked Halak in the head with his stick (accidentally), goal #2 Gill missed the pass across then got his stick in the way of the shot. 2 goals both scored while Gill was directly involved in the play. I’m telling you, start paying attention every time the other team scores a goal, and 8 times out of 10 Gill is there somewhere. As an aside, what the heck is he doing on the PP? At least on the PK I can kind of understand the rationale of him being able to block shots because of his size, and clog up the lanes and the front of the net. But the PP? I’m baffled.
