If ever there was a time to bounce back – this would be it. There were some who thought Montreal was due to bounce back against Boston given the magnitude of the game, and how poorly they played against Buffalo. Well, that bounce certainly didn’t materialize. Montreal now sits 2 points ahead of the Rangers (who at the time of this blog lead the Bruins 1-0 with minutes left in the 2nd period). If that score holds up – Montreal will need a win tonight to maintain their 2 point buffer over the Rangers for 6th place.
The mission tonight is simple: get the puck in possession in the offensive zone and shoot with bodies crashing the net. Its something they didn’t do at all against the Sabres, and rarely if ever against the Bruins. The best way to protect Carey Price is to give him the lead – he’s dominant when the Habs score first.
I’ll be watching attentively to the Plekanec line. If 14 and 13 cannot find their game soon, the Canadiens are in for trouble – because without Pacioretty, there is almost nothing going on with the Gomez trio.
Gut check time.
Go Habs Go!!!
