Game 82: Habs/Leafs

  • The regular season comes to a close tonight as the Canadiens face the Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. While the Leafs etechnically have ‘nothing to play for’, we certainly the difference. Leafs Nation would like nothing more than to take one last shot at their rivals before the post season begins and the Leafs take their annual summer vacation plans. Ok, that was a cheapshot.

The reality is that the Canadiens who do not need to win this game to make the playoffs, would still like to finish strong with a victory in Toronto, both for pride, and in order to gain the 6th ranking in case a lower ranked team pulls off an upset – you never know.

There isn’t much more to add – the real season begins shorly, and just like the pre-season, this game has more of a psychological meaning.

    Go Habs Go!!!

Defence we have:Signed: PK and Spacek.
    unsigned Free agents= Markov,Sopel,Wizniewski,Hamrlik, Mara.
Restricked Free agents Picard, Weber and Gorges
So we sign all three restricted free agents Gorges I would give a raise, Weber min. contract and Picard $500,000.

That gives us a young base of talent along with PK.

Wiznewski and Mara provide the experience base we need as well. Then sign Markov if he does not want too much money if he does then sign him and trade him or let him walk,
then sign Sopel and Hammer 2M a piece unless of course there is a better defenceman out there that is available.

Once we get our signings then we look to make some trades or draft picks. Weber and Picard could be made available to move up in the draft or outright trade.

It would be nice to trade Spacek but it would be a giveaway but would be worth it to get rid of the salary.

This is going to be a big problem for PG. At the rate our defence seem to get injured we need at least 8 D-man signed.
