Good News

  • The Islanders lose to Ottawa and Carolina loses to New Jersey. Meaning the Habs don’t lose any more ground.

As far as gaining ground, the chance is there if they pick up point(s) tonight in Pittsburgh and the ever important Leafs game on Saturday night.

The Habs back to back games record this year is atrocious and they’ll have to find a way to break that trend.

If they go all out tonight and have nothing left for the more important game against Toronto it could mean trouble. Especially if they don’t come out with 2 points tonight. Then again the Habs ‘going all out’ doesn’t seem to happen very often anyway.

If the luck continues and the Leafs and Rangers lose tonight and the Habs steal all 4 points this weekend, the standings will look much much better for the Habs.

I’m not one to point fingers…
Carbo should go to the closest Canadian Tire and buy one of those goalies we can strap to the post until Huet is healthy enough to play. Abby was absolutely horrible tonight. The guys is a complete mess and he was the difference tonight. At least he had an assist………ON A PITTS GOAL!!!

    GO HOME!

Empty net goal aside, the first Crosby goal and the two Christensen goals were avoidable with Aebischer fluffing two and Markov watching one so Montreal wins this 3-2.
I’m so tired of Andrei Markov standing around and watching, in fact I’ve never been impressed with this guy, I’d rather have Craig Rivet who I watched last night as the Sharks beat Columbus 3-0. Rivet’s solid and playing well on a team where they all have total faith in their goalies and play that way, confidently.

David Aebischer is crap. And the team in front of him knows it and plays scared because of it. It doesn’t seem like Carbonneau has any choice with Huet out, Halak nervous and Leighton a complete mystery. Yeah, I’d wished they’d have given the backup role to Yann Danis too but… who knows.

Tonight’s game against the Maple Shits is huge and hopefully Jaroslav Halak gets the start (cuz of his Bulldog experience against most of these Marlies-turned-Leafs) but maybe Michael Leighton could start, what the hell, I’m sure he’d be pumped being an Ontario boy thrown into the Habs-Leafs fire with everything on the line. It’s up to you, coach Carbo but Abby’s not deserved any playing time he’s been getting, he’s been more the starter lately by default so enough of that shit, please!

It’s true, Danis could’ve neded up stinking up the bell center too, but could he be worse than Aebischer? I doubt it. Hopefully Raycroft, who looked as lost as Aebiscer last night, will have another shit game, so at least we’ll be on even footing in the sieve/goaltender equation.

I hate the Leafs, almost as much as I love the Habs, so we have to win, even if it’s just to help deny them a playoff spot. I am not like others I talk to, and want to see a Canadian team win, even if it’s not my team. It’s the Habs, or I don’t care! I’m patriotic, don’t get me wrong, but I’d rather die than see the Leafs win anything, let alone the cup. Not that they ever will again, and certainly not this year. I could die happy as long as I never see the Leafs win a cup.
Having been born in 71, I never have. Here’s hoping it remains that way, time without end(taking large drink of CC and diet coke–yeah its early, but St patrick would be proud!)

Go habs, and crush the infidels tonight!

Let’s not forget that all these players are professionals. They’ve been playing for decades. It’s in-excusable that they haven’t gotten up for a game on a regular/consistent basis.

Mental errors: e.g. Abbi @ the end of 1st period. At his age, with his experience and with so much on the line… Holy @#$k!

Again, even with a win tonight, they’ll have to watch the scoreboard. Should have won 5 or 6 more games in Jan/Feb…

As for Gainey, players have had success before coming here: e.g. Sami, Gilmore, so Gainey had success elsewhere but it doesn’t mean he can put something together like a drive for the cup. Think about it: rookie coach who surrounded himself with rookie assistant coaches.

Bob, tear up your game plan and seek some advice from people that had success recently in the NHL. And, going with former Hab captains doesn’t have the positive affect on the new players. THe newbies don’t give a shit about our glorious past.

  5. all i say is huet , huet we need huet were not goin anywhere without him abby sucks halak sucks why don’t they bring up carey price and see what happens

  6. carb and gainy remind me of tremblay and houle gettin rid of there good players for the likes of lapiere, murray, lattendresse like who in the hell is he to get a 3 yr contract without provin anything the deal was signed before the regular season even started sammy got the shaft for players like him for example sammy has played ten minutes a game since the beginning and lattendresse gets 15 to 20 whats wrong with that picture!!!!

Who’s better, Aebischer or Theodore? I guess it should be who’s worse? I guess Abby at $1.3 million is better than Theo at $5.5 million eh so we win that one but holy shit, these two should be in the AHL.

I hate Toronto, fuck the “let’s-see-a-Canadian-team-in-the-playoffs” bullshit, I’d rather cheer for Ottawa or any team for that matter over the Laffs, in fact if there were a game for hockey supremacy a-la-’72 Summit-Series between Toronto and Russia, I’d be wearing a Red Army jersey!

Notice how the Habs never pick up any ex-Leafs (okay, Doug Gilmour and Mike Johnson but they were both several teams and years removed from the Maple Leaf venereal disease eh) but the Laffs are always raiding our closet? From Pat Burns/Cliff Fletcher and Ken Dryden to Jonas Hoglund, Jyrki Lumme and Darcy Tucker, they always look to improve themselves thru the Montreal Canadiens cuz they can’t do it themselves. Only in Toronto do they have a pre-game ceremony to celebrate NOT winning a Stanley Cup since 1967! 1967!!! When there were six teams!!! And four made the playoffs!!!! It was two rounds to capture the thing, hell, the Habs made winning in that era seem effortless!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! THE LAFFS!!!! They KILL ME! Please Leaf fans, don’t go changing! Whip out those little homemade aluminum foil Stanley Cups and run and up down Yonge Street when you win a game, it’s cute! And it’s St. Patrick’s Day so make sure, after you throw up your green dyed Molson Canadians, that you get to bed before 2 AM, after all, thank God it’s Monday in about 36 hours!!!

    Is that mean of me?

If we lose tonight, it will suck more than anything that has sucked before only cuz it’s the Tranna Maple Sucks… but alas, life will go on.
Some of you don’t know what it’s like living in Ontario in Leafland, as soon as I moved here from Montreal in ’87, as soon as anyone heard I was a Montrealer, their first comment was how they hate the Habs. You know all my hockey fan life growing up in the good ol’ Town of Mount Royal, I never hated the Leafs because from the time I became a hockey fan (1971) the Toronto teams sucked and were a non-factor, I hated the Bruins (but respected them) and I really hated the Flyers, Islanders and later, the Nordiques (I miss those assholes, though).
But moving here, oh boy, the Leaf fans made me hate that team through their stupid ignorance and when Pat Burns left the Habs for Toronto in ’92, these morons got even cockier and believe it or not, stupider. They think they own the Cup, that it’s their God-given right to win it… they haven’t even sniffed the thing in almost half a century!
I gotta stop ranting and venting about this stupid team, cheers from Orangeville, Ontario (80 kms from boring T.O) to all in my true home of Montreal and GO HABS!

Take a look at our goalies of past and present.Lets start with theo,he came in here and he look like the next great goalie for our habs he also won the heart and vezina.A year later he coud not stop a beach ball and now it looks like he wont see nhl action again if colardo decides to buy out his contract. On to the next goalie HUET- He came to montreal via trade and when he came off of his injury stole the starting job away from theo.Huet was playing great.A year later he is average at best and was really fighting the puck before he went down to another injury. So on to ABBY. He comes over through the theo trade and to be honest with you did not really play that bad with the few starts he had last year and it was really looking like he was going to steal the starting job away from huet at the begginging of this year.Abby was decent at the start of this seaon.A few months later and he is a total blow out.Maybe the worse goalie to ever put on the CH.So what does this say? Goalies come here playing very good with a bright future in their sights and then become a total waste.I think its time we start pointing the finger at out goalie coach roland melanson. This guy sits in the shadows of the coaching staff and never takes any heat.In my opinion i think he is a brutal goalie coach. Now this brings me to a question for you guys and please be completely honest,With our recent history on our goaltenders would you want roalie melanson getting his hands on carey price? I think not.

Aebischer worse than Red Light Racicot? Good point about the goalie coach though, coincidence? Probably not.

You can’t really teach goaltending other than that robot-butterfly-on-your-knees-hoping-the-puck-hits-you crap. The toughest part of being a goalie is the mental aspect. Goalies have to have a state of mind where they don’t give a fuck and just playing the position, a position where a very hard rubber disk is shot at you at terrific speeds and the whole balance of the outcome weighs on you stopping it. Fun eh?

I loved Patrick Roy and the pinnacle of his very superstardom was captured in that one wink at Tomas Sandstrom in the ’93 playoffs. Roy wanted it all. Martin Brodeur obviously loves playing the position and plays it the way it’s supposed to be played, reflexes and brains, outguessing the oncoming players. The Gumper was cool too, Worsley was asked what team gave him the hardest time in the early ’60s when he was with a subpar New York team and he simply replied with his deadpan face “the Rangers”.
Me, I hate warmup shots cuz I don’t want to waste any of the saves alloted to me for that game by the almighty hockey gods so I let ’em all in other than three (one to each glove and one on the pads) just to feel the puck.

But man, if you get it in your head that you can’t do it after a bad goal or three, it’s really tough to shake and I’m guessing at the pro level it’ll just eat you alive if that doubt takes up permanent residence in that little space of your mind. Look at the victims it’s claimed in the NHL, from Bill Durnan in the ’40s to Jim Carrey in the ’90s to Theo and now Abby…

Goalies don’t need a coach, they need a shrink.

Where were all you fans when we had Huet…we had a number one goalie and Carbo would yank him at the drop of a hat in favour of Abby..Why did abby get close to 30 starts this year when we had Huet for a goalie? We suck., coach sucks and all his decisions sucked and we aren;t making the play-offs so get over it..we don’t deserve to

First of all, DANIS is injured! That is the ONLY reason he isn’t playing with us. 2nd, Huet, (even tho he’s much better than Abbyshit), is average at best, When he got injured, his record for his last 15 starts, was only 5-12. He was also letting in alot of soft goals. HE IS NOT A #1 GOALIE. HE IS A BASCKUP GOALIE AT BEST. THAT IS THE REASON WE TRADED FOR HIM! He can’t play a full schedule, as evidenced by his record. He doesn’t have the physical or mental capacity to do so. And, during the offseason, if we don’t make a deal for a starting goalie, this same crap will happen next year! After all, he only got Huet at the HALFWAY point of last season. He ONLY played half a season. This year he ONLY played HALF a season. That’s NOT a #1 goalie. I hope Gainey realizes that! Go get someone CAPABLE OF PLAYING 70 GAMES!
And as far as goalies finishing lousy here, did you forget ROY? He was always great, and it was the coward TREMBLAY, responsible for his release.
But I’m not going tp recant my remarks about Carbo. He has no business being a head coach. He just simply is INCAPABLE of managing players, and plays musical lines far too many times! He doesn’t see the big picture!

HALAK is in goal tonight, but not for the reasons we thought. CARBO(the moron), is only putting him in because it’s a back to back game. The fact that ABBYSHIT was horrible and incompetent, had nothing to do with carbo’s decision.
That means we’re stuck with Abbyshit for the remainder of the season. I guess that means, after this game, we’ll be 0-9 the rest of the season. Thanks CARBO, for N O T H I N G! I hope the fans throw eggs at you and boo you, so you’ll know how the fans feel!

‘Go get someone CAPABLE OF PLAYING 70 GAMES!’ Ya like it’s that easy. There are three goalie’s in the entire league capable of playing 70 or more games and if Gainey calls up Dave Nonis, Lou Lamerillo, or Darryl Sutter asking for Luongo, Brodeur or Kiprusoff respectively, he’ll get lauphed off the phone.

And it’s Carbo’s first year coaching. What did you expect Scotty Bowman(who isn’t coming back so don’t hold out hope for that.)? Carbo is bound to make some mistakes, he’ll learn form them. Your acting like anything less then perfection is unacceptable, well guess what? Nobody’s perfect. Even the best make mistakes. And Bowman had the greatest roster of all around talent put together in the history of the game(the Oilers had the greatest offence of all time but their D wasn’t great and Fuhr was overrated). Carbo dosen’t have Shutt, Lafleur, Gainey, Lamaire, Robinson, Lapointe, Savard or Dryden to work with.

The Habs roster isn’t that great. They drastically overacheived in the beginning of the year thanks to Huet AND CARBO. The players on this team aren’t great. When do the players become accountable(and yes I’m talking about the young guys to. Ryder is -27, Higgins is -17, Lapierre is -4, and Latendresse is -14. That means that the other team scores more on the Habs when they’re out there for you unintelligent hockey fans.). And the goaltenders suck. Until Halak and Price are ready to take the torch(mostly Price because he’s got the physical and mental tools to play 70+ games IN THE FUTURE. HE ISN’T READY YET!). So get used to this.

Go look at the icetime stats man, before you throw out obsurd numbers, it just makes you look stupid. Maybe you don’t actually watch the games i just don’t know. everything you said in your post is devoid of reality.
