Josh Gorges will be a Montreal Canadien for a long time to come. He was extended today for 6 years in a move that Pierre Gauthier made in order to not lose the 26 year old at the end of the season to free agency. Gorges will earn an average of $3.9M for each of the next six seasons. As one of the critical young players in the organization that Gauthier can trust, Gorges’ signing indicates that Montreal will not stick to the previously adhered to policy of not negotiating contracts during the season. Carey Price and PK Subban will be two of the other important signings Gauthier will need to deal with before the beginning of next season.
