Grabovski and Lapierre called up

Members of the Canadiens are still suffering from a virus and the lineup today is uncertain.
What is certain is Maxim Lapierre and Mikhail Grabosvki have been called up and will be in the lineup.
Lapierre has had great success in his games with the Canadiens this year sparking controversy when he was demoted back to Hamilton.
Grabovski is a talented prospect and one who should be interesting to watch. Grabovski is small and in the pre-season had his shoulder separated before he could really be observed.

- muller93 : Very true Senet, you do need luck and we haven't had any luck it seems since the habs moved to the Bell Center. We had an incredible run in 2010 with some crazy goal tending from Halak. With Galchenyuk-Tinor di-Gallagher all in 1 year--not too bad, even with an early exit in the playoffs.
- Senet1 : Muller I guess we all have our own ideas, but there has never been too many times that were successful when they traded their draft picks away. We have a chance to build this team so we have a shot at winning the cup over the next 10 years. Even as good as Pittsburgh has been they have only won the cup once since Crosby and Malkin have been with the team. That is because you not only need great players but you need luck to win, but one thing about Pittsburgh they have a chance every year. The
- muller93 : Good point on Torres, he might be a liability. Torres has to tone it down a bit, but that's his game-very aggressive.
- goalie : Though I don't condone what Raffi Torres did - thos shows you how repeat offenders or near offenders are going to be treated. His hit was NOT illegal BUT what the rap sheet adn reputation Torres has he got severly punished. Lesson to be learned by OTHER players because Torres dopesn't learn fromk his mistakes.
- muller93 : Senet normally I would agree with you on not trading draft picks but we are not in a rebuilding stage. Sometimes draft picks can be a roll of the dice and it can take up to 3 years to be NHL ready. We have a good team and I agree with Stuo players like Clowe-Torres-Ott -Scott will make a big difference. Somebody has to protect Gallagher, he can't keep getting hit the way does--we need a tough forward so they think twice before going after Gallagher.
- Senet1 : Really a heathly Habs team would probably win more games against the Pens that we did against the Sens. Reason they Pens would not play as physical against us as against the Sens. If we get good goaltending we win at least two games.

- goalie : Markov for Beauchemin - an injury prone d-man for an ;old timer'd-man. Beauchemin is NOT what the Habs need in my opinion. He is a HUGE defensive liability.

- Senet1 : If he could score goals like Lucic and we could sign him to a four year contract then I would consider it too. However, NOT if we only have him for one to two years.
- Senet1 : So we went from 27th pick to 21st pick.
- goalie : Normally I would not trade draft picks BUT if we could get a consistently, solid player (especially forward) who is BIG I'd trade one of our picks.
- Senet1 : The good part of this is with both Detroit and Boston moving on to the 2nd round it makes our draft position better, we move up the list by two.
- Senet1 : Bruins beat leafs in OT. It was hard but I was hoping the Leafs beat the Bruins. They had a4-1 lead in the third and two goal lead with less than 4 minutes and lost. Sound familiar.
- Senet1 : The thing is just because you get those guys does not guarantee that you will even make the playoffs or get out of the first round. Look at Detroit they built a strong team and organization and have been at the top for years. Yet they only have had a chance to win it two or three times. No matter how good you are you still need the breaks. So putting yourself in position to win is the most important thing to do year after year.

- Senet1 : Sorry guys but I would not trade our draft picks. We have 1 in the first round, 2 early second rounds + our own 2nd round pick and a good third round pick. We have finally got a chance to build this team like Detroit did and be able to stay up in the upper group of teams for a long time. If we blow this draft we blow our long term success. There are some players we can trade away and hopefully get some rugged players in return and or more draft picks. We have shown other players that we have
- goalie : I agree with Muller. I'm not sure how many high / mid draft choices we have but I'd be looking to make some moves (even trade draft choices) for a couple of proven, rugged, players who can help us immediately.
- muller93 : Well MB is a finalist for the GM of the year and I for one will say he did a great job with the Habs. We are just a few players away from having a real contender for years to come. But I really don't want to bank on this years draft--We need some NHL ready players. Hab fans have waited long enough and we have a good foundation. Lets trade some players along with some draft picks and get some big players in here. This is the only problem I see.
- Senet1 : The leafs were intimidated early not from size but just not believing they could beat Boston and they did not get good goaltending early. Now they believe that they can beat the bruins and I would not be surprised if they do because they have faster than boston. They are beating boston to the puck similar to the way we beat them to the puck. They are exploiting their defence with their speed. So as long as Reimer gives them goaltending they have a chance.
- goalie : Senet has it right. Other teams have drafted skill, size and dedication. Those players are out there.

Grabovski looked real good. kind of reminds me of St. Louis,with his diminuitive size, and speed, and ability to score. If he’s anything like St. Louis, then we’ll have alot to cheer about. Glad to see Lapierre back with the habs. Now Bob, KEEP HIM WITH THE HABS.! Please don’t send him back.

First off Montreal got ROYALLY SCREWED by the officiating in this game and the last game for that matter. I’m sure the good ole folks at HNIC are happy about this. Chris Higginds gets practically MUGGED in the corner and they call him for hooking!! GIVE ME A F&*%$#ING BREAK!!!!!!!!! A GOAL disallowed that SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALLOWED. I’m starting to think that the NHL has something against the Montreal Canadiens. Iam totally PISSED about this game. This piss poor way the NHL hires these bumms to decide games is starting to turn me off hockey!!!

What sucked was Souray moving out of the way instead of stopping the shooter. What is with that? Again there was practically no defense. And what is with the pathetic clearing out of your own zone?
I think something really needs to be done about the Leisure World Souray and the Royal Doultan Figure of Ninnima…honestly. This is the NHL, not some damn World Cup playoff where clubbing and mugging are not allowed….hello Bob, Earth Calling Bob Gainey, wake up, wake up!!! your Defense sucks big time!!!!
Don’t penalize the rookies for the crappy work of your overpaid veterans!

I have to say honestly that the habs get no respect from the officials.
The opposition can do whatever they want to 1 of our players, and getaway with it, but as soon as we touch 1 of their players, it’s a penalty on us. SHAME ON THE OFFICIALS! they are a DISGRACE to the league. Also, this is the 2nd consecutive game the officials disallowed 1 of our goals, without cause. In this game it really hurt, because this was 1 goal difference game. And what’s with Aebischer allowing a soft goal? I think he’s trying to mimic Huet.Neither goalie is able to play a game without allowing a SOFT GOAL.
Let me not forget to mention our defence, if you can call it that.PATHETIC!
the rangers could, and should have been beaten today. too bad our D, as usual didn’t show up. Would have been better if they had called in sick, because they looked sick, as in horrible. So now we have lost 2 games in a row, again!
Guess what? we are forced to play NJ tomorrow, a team we can’t ever beat. Can you say 3 losses in a row? Aebischer probably will play tomorrow. yes, 3 losses in a row! the important thing I forgot to mention: our 3 goals were scored on the PP, which means we STILL can’t score 5 on 5.
I can’t recall a habs team, ever not able to score goals at even strength.Gid forbid we have a game without PP’s, we’ll be shut out!

this just in, brodeur slipped on some ice getting on the bus and rolled his ankle, he’s out for 4 to 6 weeks. nah, but damn that sure sounds good!!!!maybe if we all wish real hard!!!! nah, still problably won’t happen. i don’t think it matters much anyway, i’m calling habs 3 devils 1 tomorrow. hope i’m right!!!

I think I would rather see more players from Hamilton, ie. Grabovsky, Lapierre, Kostityn, Danis,Cote, than Murray, Downey, Ryder and Samsonov. They have alot more energy, and give 100% effort, than some of our present habs. also they would cost less money.
Alot of you bloggers kept saying, it’s only 1 loss, but now we’ve lost 4 of the last 5, and don’t really look good. I’m getting worried, thinking that they are starting to crumble like the team we had last year. lots of similarities. Please Gainey, make some changes before we slip back down and barely make the playoffs. Is it possible for Price to play next season for us?
Can’t we put Downey and Murray on waivers? i can’t stand either one, because they are totally useless, and don’t deserve to get the kind of $$ they are getting. Any chance Samsonov will decide to go back to Russia? better still, can we ship him to Siberia?

It’s realy strange how other teams can clutch and hook and or trip the hab players and get away with some of it, while the refs call every and any thing or make up **** “eg.take away goals”for mostly none reasons and alter the games as if there’s a fix on.ALSO,shoot the f@#*ing puck a little higher boy’s.

Grabovski….is better than Lapierre. That being said Lapierre is every bit as important, because nobody on this team can dig a puck out of the corner like he can. He could go into the corner against the Israeli militia and come up with the puck somehow.
Grabby shouldve had two goals this game.
Even Yvon and Pierre ( rds team ) looked at each other in disbelief at the refereeing in this game with jaws on the table in front of them. Right now, if one of the habs sneezes on the ice he will get two for attempting to injure and two more for delay of game for trying to clean it up.If they follow that up with a cough they will get an additional ten for talking back to the ref.Heaven forbid if one of them were to throw up, it would probably be reviewed by the league.
Kovalev is a force. Period. He is phenomenal. He makes 5 -7 excellent plays a game that create a scoring chance.Then if he makes one pass that is intercepted the Kovy bashers jump on him.
The habs will be alright and this will be looked back at, as their bad stretch this year.
Not sure they have the horses to beat Jersey today. They still are run down and sick ( collectively), but they will snap out of it.At least 5 of the players who didnt miss the game have the flu ( ie Markov and Lapierre)

Kovalev leads the habs with 60 penalty minutes! not a good stat. let’s see which hab team will show up today? koivu and Latendresse should be OK to play.
Maybe Brodeur will come down with the flu. wishful thinking.

After yesterday’s game, I’m starting to wonder about the team. Once again, they were totally dominated in a period and barely got any shots off… not the way to score goals. The flu isn’t an excuse when you consider they’ve been doing this for a couple of weeks. I’m never going to say panic, but some line changes and other shake-ups are needed.

Disappointed in the results, but not how these guys played through adversity. Young looked good. Jiped us of another goal but it did not stop us from playing the rest of the game. Looked like the gas ran empty toward the end but they did give up which gains some respect in my book…
Maybe we can surprise NEw Jersey coming off a win and expecting a flu ridden Canadien team to be a easy win. Today we need to score on Brodeaur early and often!
High 4 Habs – putting Downey and Murray on waivers although would free some $$, I think they both make near league minimum. My vote would to put Nimiina on waivers, he makes more than both of those guys combined … Maybe all three should go, and then we could rotate the array of talent from AHL with a weeky rotation to keep them fresh & motivated! Seems whom ever they bring up they seem to make an impact…

To all the naysayers and “trade this trade that” people, can I make a suggestion. Between a loss and the next time you post, take a valium, please.
Izzy: It’s nice to see someone that appreciates Kovalev. The guy is so talented it hurts him. For example, if the pucks leaves his stick once he is lambasted as a slacker. If the puck goes in the net, well finally he’s doing what he is supposed to be doing. Do you think his talent is all natural – he practices and practices puck control between games. I am so glad we got this guy in ’04. About his hook with 7 seconds left in the game. If N.Y. clears the puck the game is over, so Kovy was doing everthing he could to gain control of the puck – and some people label it as a lazy penalty in the offensive zone – geez.
Re: Grabovsky. He showed some real offensive talent and was very fun to watch. But don’t tell me you didn’t notice his weak play in the corners and the blind passes he made that could have come back to bite us. Great debut, but still needs some work.
Re: Aebischer. It would have been a great game for him to step in and play well enough to get us a win. He didn’t. My god on the first goal he was at least a foot too far to his blocker side of the net making it a pretty obvious opening for Cullen. The only shot he didn’t see was the 3rd – he could have stopped all the other 3.
Re: Disallowed goal. It sucked and all, but I think we got a powerplay on that play or just after and scored, so I don’t think it made a huge difference in the end.
Re: New Jersey. We’ve met them in the past few years when we were on serious roles and weren’t able to win – maybe coming in wounded today will help us.

Lapierre is a good fourth liner but I guess now we can say he is not the savoiur from heaven.

How come Gainey’s been hiding Grabovski (a center, which we desperately need), in the minors? He should have been up a long time ago. Everyone knows we’re desperate for a 2nd line center,and all this time we had one , GRABOVSKI. sure, he’s inexperienced, but look at Malkin. Pitt stuck him in the linup right away, and they already had a good offensive lineup. no excuses! nobody can tell me that Downey and Murray have more talent than that kid.
I don’t understand this organization. Maybe they want to win 2 or 3 years down the road, but they aren’t acting like they want to win it today!
BTW, HABS IN BLOOD: how exactly was Kovalev helping us by continually opening his mouth and taking extra minutes in penalties(several times)?
And if he is so talented(I’m not saying he isn’t),how come he only has 10 goals? and , with all his talent, how come he scored so few goals last year?
There’s something missing with this guy, and everyone in the league knows he doesn’t show up every game, it’s so obvious. Wouldn’t you rather have a player give 100% effort every single game? I would take someone who is less talented, but a bigger heart, not selfish(doesn’t try to hog the puck), and gives 100% EFFORT EVERY SINGLE GAME! But this is only my opinion. personally, I’d rather see half of the team in Hamilton, than what we have.

If you ask me last night he carried that team on his shoulders.

Grabovski was good, Lapierre was bad and missed his assignment on the first Rangers goal, which was Cullen. The Defence couldn’t skate and Abby had a bad game. I’m hoping the flu contributed to all that.
If the Habs can make it to the All-Star break I think they’ll be OK.
But don’t expect a victory over the Devils. The Habs never beat them.

This is what I have been yelling since the preseason. What is with Gainey? Is he on a mission, to make sure the Habs don’t win? All the moves he has made seem to point that way.
And what is with Carbo and his crappy lines and the constant line changes, only Jacque Lemaire was good at that with the old Stars….I guess Carbo is trying to emulate his style…Carbo you gotta get your own style. Look at last year where Gainey used to keep lines on when they were producing.
With Carbo if you shoot on the net you get yanked! and with Gainey if you are a really good rookie called up from the Dogs, and you produce you get sent back down….look at the way Gainey has treated his rookies…shame on you Gainey, how much is George Gillette paying you to make sure the Habs don’t win?

Everything will be OK! Inevitably in a long season a team goes through a slump, and fights things a little bit. The lack of a true sniper does gnaw at me a little bit, though. The Habs simply don’t have that guy who producess goals consistently throughout the season. Tney all take turns with mini-sprees like six goals in 10 games, and then disappear for a month. I thought Higgins might be the guy, as he is reAlly has the touch on occasion. Basically, though, the team needs to work hard and fight their way out of this thing. Better days are ahead.

More like actually shoot on the net. Oh wait, the Habs know if they actually shoot on the net Carbo is gonna yank them off, or they don’t get enough ice time to actually remember what handling the puck feels like, hmmm, maybe that is why they keep giving it away, they forgot how to handle a puck…..someone needs to also teach Samsonov how to shoot the puck, maybe not on his own net like Souray, or kicking it in like Markov…
