- muller93 : MB is forced to go out and get a big D-man. Missing Emelin for almost half the season is the last thing we needed to hear. Now going out and getting a big D-man is a MUST!!!
- muller93 : Now for the Fu**en Bruins who have no business even being in the second round are going to get a nice rest. Yes the same goons who took out one of best D-man for 6 more months. There is NO Fu**en justice. Just venting--Ok i feel better now.
- muller93 : So pissed to see the Rangers lay down and play like total crap. How did the Rangers beat the Caps? This team is playing with no heart--a must win and can only muster 23 shots...PATHETIC !!!
- muller93 : Senet I did see Galchenyuks goal--Made a great move for the game winner. You can see the kid has so much confidence.
- goalie : If Rangers get swept I wonder if Tortorella will get his walking papers? Or Glen Sather? They have tons of 'talent' but zero wins in this series.
- goalie : It's really too bad we lost to the Sens as we would have played the Rangers and the way NYR are playing we would have beat them too. If only. If only!
- Senet1 : Actually I agree it was a good move for them to play a shorter season and get the experience. He could not have played in the minors this year he would have had to play junior or the NHL. However, he now has a year under him and knows what to expect next year and hopefully take a bigger responsibility on the team. Did you see those two goals in the bronze game? Wow.
- muller93 : Good move by the Habs not having Galchenyuk play in the minors. Now Galchenyuk has 1 year in the NHL and playoff experience this is going to pay off big time come next year.
- Senet1 : Galchenyuk scores to back to back goals in shoot out to help USA win Bronze metal. I did not see the second goal but the first was a beauty.
- Senet1 : So we could pick anywhere from 25th to 23rd depending on who wins these quarter final series.
- Senet1 : First, is the 14 teams in the lottery. Then there are 12 teams that did not make the semi finals in the order of the seasonal finish, Then there are the four teams in the semi final the first two eliminated pick in the order of the regular season points total and the last two based on who wins and who loses the cup. So as it stand now if say Detroit beats Chicago then Detroit moves up to pick after us. Boston or NYR will move up and pick after us. LA or San Jose will move up and pick after us
- Senet1 : Basically, I was wrong about the draft pick situation. There are three groups of drafting teams within the 30 teams.
- Senet1 : seriously ready to challenge for the cup. He will us win games but he will not be the difference between winning the cup and not winning the cup. You pick up players like that once you have the team ready to challenge,.
- Senet1 : I am looking at the players to draft and there are a lot of big 6'3-6'5 forwards available ion the draft this year. If we could draft 3-4 big young players in the 2nd and 3rd round why would you want to give that up for a roster player who may have 2-3 years at best. If we are going to build a winner to have to build it with bigger players and there are a lot of good big players available this year. So you sign Ott and he is with us for the short run, but probably not when we are seriously re
- Senet1 : Boullion is a great mentor for the young D-men
- muller93 : Boullion is one of MBs great additions--Boull ion is a definite Keeper.
- muller93 : Getting rid of Kaberle frees up a lot of cash. Boullion is small but is reliable and doesn't back down from anyone.
- muller93 : Exactly Goalie any thoughts on a punishing D-man?
- goalie : They;re showing determination adn skill vs Ducks and Blackhawks.
- goalie : REd Wings could turn out to be the surprise team of this year's playoffs!
- goalie : WE need to rid our team of Kaberle and Webber. Step two would be to then move Diaz. If we get that big d-man I believe that would push Boullion to # 7 on the chart. We'd then go with Georges, PK,Markov (to continue mentoring Ememlin) Tinordi as our starting six . THEN I'd be excited about our chances. We could then work on getting bigger forwards.
- goalie : I too would gladly give up a 3rd round pick for Ott- the type of player we sadly lack. AND if we could get one more rugged, expeienced defenceman it would help immensely.
- muller93 : Senet what you are saying makes sense but if we can get Ott for a 3rd round I'll take that all day.
- muller93 : MB should be looking at a big D-man first, even though I like our blue line with the addition of Tinordi. We need that insurance just in case one gets injured. Also I'm a firm believer in starting with the goalie first then-defense-for wards-and we already have good goalie. We have all noticed when we have the lead Price is tough to beat.
- Senet1 : So sometimes you have to sacrifice for one year or two to build that team in the draft. then add the finishing touches through FA and trades.
- Senet1 : Muller, Detroit is another good example. They have been in the hunt every year with good well balanced teams yet only one or two cups to show for it. However, they have built a team that has a chance every years for the last 10+ years. That is what I think we have a chance to do this year with a good draft. It reminds me of the habs teams of the mid 80 and 90's we built a team then with sold draft picks and won the cup twice during that time period. So sometimes you have to sacrifice a one
- muller93 : Very true Senet, you do need luck and we haven't had any luck it seems since the habs moved to the Bell Center. We had an incredible run in 2010 with some crazy goal tending from Halak. With Galchenyuk-Tinor di-Gallagher all in 1 year--not too bad, even with an early exit in the playoffs.
- Senet1 : Muller I guess we all have our own ideas, but there has never been too many times that were successful when they traded their draft picks away. We have a chance to build this team so we have a shot at winning the cup over the next 10 years. Even as good as Pittsburgh has been they have only won the cup once since Crosby and Malkin have been with the team. That is because you not only need great players but you need luck to win, but one thing about Pittsburgh they have a chance every year. The
- muller93 : Good point on Torres, he might be a liability. Torres has to tone it down a bit, but that's his game-very aggressive.
- goalie : Though I don't condone what Raffi Torres did - thos shows you how repeat offenders or near offenders are going to be treated. His hit was NOT illegal BUT what the rap sheet adn reputation Torres has he got severly punished. Lesson to be learned by OTHER players because Torres dopesn't learn fromk his mistakes.
- muller93 : Senet normally I would agree with you on not trading draft picks but we are not in a rebuilding stage. Sometimes draft picks can be a roll of the dice and it can take up to 3 years to be NHL ready. We have a good team and I agree with Stuo players like Clowe-Torres-Ott -Scott will make a big difference. Somebody has to protect Gallagher, he can't keep getting hit the way does--we need a tough forward so they think twice before going after Gallagher.
- Senet1 : Really a heathly Habs team would probably win more games against the Pens that we did against the Sens. Reason they Pens would not play as physical against us as against the Sens. If we get good goaltending we win at least two games.
- zpezada4ok : hello all «link»
- stuo11 : hes a tougher big guy too! Just a minor adjustment but will help a bit
- stuo11 : hes better than markov, and hes french who was in mention for defenceman of the year

ha ha ha ha. The leafs can jump ahead of the Habs and all they can muster up is a pathetic 7-2 loss to NYR. Terrible. Just goes to show that the Habs and even the Canes want it more then T.O. does. And you want to know why Mats Sundin always dissapears at crunch time? Because he doesn’t care about winning. Why else would he want to stick around in Toronto?
Two goals. and assist and beating up Darcy Tucker. I’m actually starting to like Sean Avery. That was the best move Glenn Sather has made at the deadline since his Oilers days. Did you know he had the choice between Balej, Hainsey, Hossa and Pleks in the Kovalev deal in 2004? And he took Balej.
April 1, 2007 at 11:07 pm
Yeah, I kind of wished we had picked up Avery. But I think Lapierre could end up being that type of player, except he’s a bit smaller than Avery.
anyone out there worried about our game vs NYR? Rangers looked real good, and skating hard. What are our chances against them? You know we have to come out of that game with at least 1 point, otherwise leafs could end our season on Thursday. All these stressful games are causing my vertigo to come back. Yeah, I’m feeling dizzy again. Can’t we have an easy game. I’m tired of these nail biters. At least we know, 1 way or another, it will be over by Saturday.
April 1, 2007 at 11:45 pm
I’m more worried about the last game vs the Laff’s, cause if it goes down to the wire, all those Laff comments about that **** team and there zombie fans mite come back to nip us,lol
April 1, 2007 at 11:54 pm
Sundin forgot how to score goals.
April 2, 2007 at 1:13 am
R habs,Sean Avery is only 5′ 9″,he plays big though, but is toast if he brings it to the game Thursday ,the Habs aren’t intimidated by him ,they know to keep him in check .He is quite the spark plug ,I’ll give him that !
April 2, 2007 at 2:16 am
McCabe was a -5 against the Rangers. Holy hell.
April 2, 2007 at 6:23 am
Hey Habs#1…(post 51) he’s not the only Ranger who took ballet. Nylander, Straka, Prucha, Hossa—they all can dance out there, but are about as physical as figure skaters…
2 wins coupled with one loss in the next 2 for the leafs, and that last game’ll mean nothing: to the leafs at least. Boston game is very winnable, and we can beat the NYR as well. In recent seasons, we’ve owned them. Let’s hope that trend continues…

I loved the way the national media took TO’s win, like as if they had a chance, and then the way they all but did not report that Montreal had the last spot.
Of course what happened to the Laffs could also happen to the habs. If Koivu and the vets decide to play lazy we could easily end up being overtaken either by the laff or the rangers, however mathematically and in morale, it seems impossible for not even little Koivu and maybe even Johnson not to be swept up by the emotion and play like their salary depends on it.
April 2, 2007 at 10:26 am
The icing on the cake was the tone of voice and disbelief at TSN when the laffs lost by so much yesterday!
April 2, 2007 at 10:27 am
Why did Koivu & Ryder’s line only play 13 shifts for 11:06 of ice time against Buffalo. They scored two goals between them. “There was no particular message I was sending with this decision,” head coach Guy Carbonneau said. “The Sabres decided to play with three lines and I was able to get the matchups I wanted.”
What in the hell was that. What is Carbo up to now. Why bench his one of his top lines. Does he really know what he is doing? I don’t know……
As far as I am concerned that was a very stupid move. There are players on that team that should be benched. Those two were not two of them.
April 2, 2007 at 10:42 am
I agree, but I think it was to punish them for the lacklustre play of the other night more like. I think the message was loud and clear. Especially to the agents of Koivu and Ryder, if you want to keep getting the big bucks score.
April 2, 2007 at 10:58 am
After all it is largely Koivu and Ryder on top of Huet and Dandenault’s lacklustre play that got us where we are, oh yes we can’t forget Rivet’s flu and Kovalev’s elbow, and the whole other retinue of excuses for the habs lacklustre play, LaPresse, the taxman, overdemanding fans and of course, because Celine Dion was not there to sing the national anthem, did I forget any more excuses? Oh yes, the anglo bigots who complain about every other little thing, like Bettman’s conspiracy to destroy the habs…etc…
April 2, 2007 at 11:13 am
If it is because of their not so good play. Why were they not benched before, They have been on a roll as of late.
April 2, 2007 at 11:25 am
Leave it to Guy Carboneau to be like the old French Army of old, blame after the game, arbitary though it may be. He did the same to the rookies early in the year and got us into a slump. It is sad when the coach is totally out of touch of reality. It is true what one blogger early this year had to say. Gainey and Carboneau see a totally different game than we do, they are out to lunch, never have returned from that Helicopter Charter over Montreal…when will they get down to earth and realize, hey you need the rookies?
April 2, 2007 at 11:47 am
Earth calling Bob Gainey, Earth calling Bob Gainey, over……bench Dandenault…bench Dandenault and Ninnima….over…
April 2, 2007 at 11:52 am
Anyone know of any psychic who can reach into that other netherworld where Gainey and Carboneau live in, so we can beam them real actual play by plays from previous games showing Bouillon or Dandenault working against the habs? You know where they give away the puck and help screen the habs goalie?
April 2, 2007 at 12:23 pm
I don’t understand why Dandenault plays when Georges is available. Isn’t that the reason we obtained Georges? And please get Bouillon out of the lineup. Dandenault and Bouillon are absolutely horrible! And their minus rating proves it. The reason why Koivu’s ice time was limited, was because he has a very bad minus rating, and on Friday vs Ottawa, he was on the ice for 4 Ottawa goals! He is lousy defensively this year! He really should be on the 4th line. Was anyone aware that Koivu has never scored more than 21 goals in a season? That’s pathetic! And he’s on our 1st line? During the offseason we need to address that problem, and get a bonafide 1st line, with real snipers, because our 1st line is a joke. Koivu-20 goals, Higgins-20 goals, Ryder-27 goals.
Only 1 good goal scorer on the line, just won’t cut it!
And please revamp the D!
April 2, 2007 at 12:59 pm
Breaking news! Canadiens fire coach guy Carbonneau!!!
Just kidding josh, the Devils fired Claude Julien cuz they’re stupid.
April 2, 2007 at 1:22 pm
Carboneau just loves the heck outta Dandenault and Bouillon, honestly! I don’t know why. But never mind Koivu being bad defensively, if Dandenault or Bouillon could get assists in all of the Canadian’s losses, they would beat Koivu’s assist record! Honestly. By assists I mean where Dandenault or Bouillon basically stop the play, pass the puck to the other team and they score! How many times do we see that? Or how Dandenault or Bouillon screen our goalie! And Carbo loves them?
April 2, 2007 at 1:32 pm
Never mind them for now, what we could use is better D-men like Chippy and Grabby and even D’Agostini, these rookies are great with Milroy and Lapierre and Lats. The whole gang of them had the media wondering if Carbo was a great coach, then Carbo had to go and ship them down. For all you hall monitors out there, the principal has called you into detention cause you are all too busy brown nosing Gainey and making excuses as to why we can’t use our rookies! Look to the other teams who have exclusively used rookies!
April 2, 2007 at 3:38 pm
I think Carbo loves Dandenault and Bouillon because they’re french canadien. If they were european, they’re gone! Yeah, I believe the Kovalev story to the russian paper, saying carbo loves his own frenchies, and hates Euros.
April 2, 2007 at 4:48 pm
Guys-food for thought. If the Rangers beat the Isles tomorrow night than the Rangers are in. Which would make it easier for the Habs to beat the Rangers Thursday night.
April 2, 2007 at 5:33 pm
It would make it easier for the habs, provided they decide to play their backup goalie, Valiquette, not play as hard. Here’s another scenario: NYR wins tomorrow, lose to habs, and lose to Pitt, combined with a habs win vs Boston and the leafs, leaves NYR 1 point behind the habs. I doubt NYR will win their final game in Pitt, but we MUST WIN IN BOTH NY AND TORONTO. Tough task for us. We need NYI to beat the leafs on Thursday, tho chances of that happening, are slim due to NYI bad goaltending, and pretty much being out of the playoff chase.
