Habs extend the Cube/Frankie-the-Bull/Soups/Bouillon

  • The Canadiens have announced that they have signed Francis Bouillon to a one-year extension of his current one-year deal with the Club. It has been reported elsewhere that this deal will carry the same dollar value of $1.5M. Given how Bouillon has played this season for the CH, one has to think this is a great bridge-type deal for the Canadiens. They have a wave of young talent that will be ready to move up to the NHL over the next few years, but in the meantime, Montreal has a need for competitive veterans that can provide value. Bouillon is exactly that. The deal doesn’t sink the Canadiens from a financial standpoint, and Bouillon’s skillset as a guy who plays a physical game, yet with the ability to move the puck effectively, makes him a valuable contributor tot he new-look Habs.

I like this signing. Bouillon provides good, steady value for the money, and can be played in every situation.
