You couldn’t be more correct. I’m not sure what they’ll do with Aebischer, as he’s an excellent backup goalie and they definitely rather have Price playing somewhere rather than sitting on the Bench in the NHL. I’d make a few points:

1) First, the TSN crowd predicted that Huet would stick this year. Darren Dredger said that “he goes down faster than a human Zamboni” (whatever that means), and that “the book was out on Huet”. Clearly, Dredger knows not of what he speaks. They also predicted that neither the Canadiens nor the Leafs would make the playoffs, and that Calgary would finish atop the West. I disagreed with their predictions then, and I obviously disagree with them now.

2) Huet is the best goalie that Montreal has seen since Patrick Roy. Roy succeeded over a very long time, and Huet is just really getting started, but Huet is not “streaky” like Theodore. By that I mean that Huet has not depended on spectacular saves, which as Patrick Roy once pointed out, is something a goalie does after he’s made a positional mistake. The thing about Huet and Roy is that both of them seem to never need to make the great save. The puck just seems to hit them. And that’s what happens to good goalies–they just get hit by the puck.

3) Hasek was also a late bloomer, playing backup with crappy save percentages until he was 30 years old or so. Huet has always posted great save percentages, even when he was a backup goalie. This is simply a great acquisition, and while we may all be a bit surprised about his performance, I’m not sure the Canadiens head office didn’t recognize his potential when they acquired him. Whoever it is in Montreal who picks out the goaltenders, that person needs a raise.

I feel so great to once again have a stellar goaltender who clearly relies more on focus and positioning than on luck. They are doing a great job with this team: thank God Gaigney is here!

Another spectacular game by Huet:(I sure hope everyone at Sportsnet, Darren Dreger, Pierre McGuire, Glenn Healy, and Mark Osbourne have been watching Huet’s last 6 games.)

But can someone please light a couple of fires under Ryder and Samsonov.

Ryder:1 goal in his last 14 games.

Samsonov:0 goals in his last 13 games.

I know we’ve been saying it all season but these two need to step up. the surprising thing about Ryder is that he’s playing for a long term deal and he’s not preforming.

But the problem is, it’s the fans determining who gets on the allstar team, when it really should be determined bt the coaches, GM’s and commentators.Let’s let the experts decide. I’m sure, that if they look at wins, save%, and such, they will come to realize that a goalie, such as Huet, should be on the team.Fans in large cities, such as NY and Boston, are going to stuff the ballot box. So population should not determine who is on, and who isn’t. I hope NHL officials will change the format.
As far as the habs are concerned, it’s nice that we won, ( but by the scantest margin), but where was the offence? We were playing Florida, a last place team with a horrible road record. we couldn’t manage to get any goals by ALEX AULD? C’mon guys pick up your game. Yeah, Huet was good,but you can’t always depend on him. what if he happens to have a bad game? Our offence has gone to sleep, but now it must wake up, because we’re playing in Carolina on Thursday, and back home to meet our arch rivals, LEAFS, whom I hate! I see Samsanov skating, but never finishing the plays.Ryder seems lost lately and just plain invisible.Plekanec is a DEFENSIVE player, and doesn’t belong on the 2nd line. Move Bonk to 2nd line, until we can find a replacement. Perehzogin skates, but never finishes.If only we could replace Samsanov, and Perehzogin with finishers,and guys who know what they’re doing, then we would be okay.I hate to criticize,but honestly we have scored 3 goals in the last 2 games. not acceptable. Remember, teams with offence such as Buffalo, and Atlanta,will score. And when we get behind, we simply don’t have the offence to come back. Last night I watched the post game press conference, and Carbo said:”we must find a way to score goals, especially 5 on 5.We’re very weak on offence;We need more production, and we must play 60 minutes of hockey”! guys,this is straight from Carbo’s mouth, not mine! So heed what he said, because he is telling the truth!Tho we have a good record, remember, cups aren’t won in November. I can recall us getting off to a good start last year, then we started losing, went into the the tank, and backed into the playoffs on the LAST GAME of the season!Do we want the same results?

Not sure of Carbonneau’s long haul as coach but I’m hoping he’ll get the rest of the Habs working on a consistent and productive mode. Go Habs Go!

I really think that the exchange *Garon for Bonk and Huet* was a mother*censured* exchange. And i remember when people cried about how Garon was good lol. I have faith in Gainey, i have faith in Carbo, i have faith. Go Habs Go!!!

I just came onto this blog to tell everyone something very important. I have noticed Huet likes to go down alot. Kinda like every other butterflyu goalie that has ever played. Soon teams will know this and HUet will be really bad. Like cmon how hard is it to have the best Save % and GAA in the league??? I say it is all luck.

Oh by the way guys, that was me who put those ridiculous posts from the TSN panel on here. IT was meant to be very very sarcastic. It was no tLeafs fans it was just my way of makinthe TSN panel eat their own mo*onic words.

I really don’t think Huet’s concerned about all-star recognition perse. I think being an athlete on a team, he works to gain respect from his team mates through demonstration and performance and when he isn’t successful on some nights, he’s disappointed. Apart from this, Huet doesn’t strike me as a person in need of the trappings and festival associated with the all-star break to validate his worth. I’m sure he would enjoy the moment, but in my opinion, being the ‘cool cuke’ he appears to be, i seriously don’t think he places as high a value on an all-star team (spot) as he does staying focussed on the job at hand. And this is what i would rather see than for him to get caught up in the distractions the all-star game could bring.
Besides, he only started catching fire recently. To put him on the ballot even a month ago would have presumably brought a few HUH’s? to this blog anyway. Right or wrong?

BTW, Dreger’s not that bad. The mind boggles though, when Sportsnet’s Kypreos opens his yap. He loves to hear himself talk and adds little to the commentary. Remember 2 minutes in the box (or something like that)? He makes Don Cherry look like Einstein. And what about that other freak with the weirdie beardo and sunglasses on that live radio show. WTF is that? Another aural-narcissist, only this guy’s still looking for that roach he dropped on the floor in 1983. Fckn’ sad…
