Things get worse and worse for Jose Theodore. Theodore slipped on the icy steps outside his home and fractured his right heel bone.
Theodore is expected to miss 8 weeks before being able to return. Consider that a rough estimate.
This solves the ‘goaltender controversy’ in Montreal for the short term and might actually be good for the Canadiens chance to make the playoffs. Bob Gainey won’t have to take heat for starting Cristobal Huet anymore.
The long term is another story. Depending how bad a fracture it is it could mean bad news for his career. The heel is an awkard area and there’s a chance it may not heal properly and return to 100% normal. As a goalie who depends on lateral movement, speed and agility, this could spell disaster.
What else will he go through this year?
