On the Road Again

  • One of the positives The Habs have this year is they are one of the better teams on the road. For whatever reason, leaving the pressure cooker in Montreal and playing on the road brings out the best of them.

Tonight they play the first of six games on the road and hope to continue that trend.

First up the last place Capitals, and not a particularly friendly city to play in for the Habs. In addition, the Capitals have put together good efforts in recent games.

One glance at the crowded Eastern Conference shows that every single game is important and there is no such thing as write-offs or sure things. Especially for this team.

played 60 minutes? They were totally outplayed in the 1st 2 periods. They were damn lucky! Did you see how much they were outshot? against anyone else, but the cellar dweller Caps, they lose. They weren’t able to clear the puck from their zone. They have SOOoooooooooooooooo many problems getting the puck out of their zone. Why? I guess the addition of Hamrlik didn’t help. Didn’t we get him to help get the puck out of our zone? what’s with our D?

Yes we were out played but look at the stats on why “CALLINGALLBULLDOGS” thought that…..we blocked 20 shots(D did what they were to do)..over 60% on the face off..16 take aways …forced 20 turn overs…No it was not the greatest game we played but at least we did not give up and kept working even when it looked like they were going to dominate the game.. it shows that they have the heart to keep it together. As for the people that might say we won because of HUET. well that is what your goalie is there for,to steal you a game or two and that is the difference between a #1 goalie that has something to prove and a goalie that thinks he is a # 1(ABBY COULD NOT STEAL A GAME FROM A PEE WEE TEAM LAST YEAR) . I am not saying we played a full 60 min. but if you were like me and watched the game on and off as you were doing Xmas stuff with the family then by the score you might think(after looking at the stats)we played pretty well(we always seem to get out shot so I never go by that stat). GO HABS GO…… :)

but maybe we continuously get outshot, is because the puck is in our zone so much. Our defence is not playing the same way as at the start of the season, and it’s a very long season. I shudder to think how much we will be outshot come April. It’s not a good sign.

no it is not a good sign. i do not like that stat. that is why i don’t look at it..LOL .. we will lose more games then we will win if this keeps up that is for sure.. The bright side of it is look at the young guys we have. I only see the D getting better over the next 2years.. at that time we should have one of the best YOUNG “D” in the league. We will be with out BREZZBY,BOULLION,STREIT,and have guys like Alexei Yemelin ,Pavel Valentenko ,Ryan McDonagh, David Fischer, P.K. Subban, Yannick Weber
All of these guy have the potential to be great “D”men. And don’t forget we will still have Andrei Markov ,Mike Komisarek ,Ryan O’Byrne

Really like Jack Todd’s article in the Gazette about “Ovechkin coming to the Habs” trade rumour. What do you think about that, Habs armchair quarterbacks?

Never going to happen.. BUT WE COULD ALL DREAM ABOUT A STAR LIKE THAT

You know what they say: If it’s a rumour, forget about it! all I ask, is that this team show up every night, and be competitive! right?

Right !!! if these guys come to play every night then we can play with just about every team out there.

  14. Hipoththeticly,if Oveckhin was a Hab with the current roster,I’d bet on them for the cup.

Well they would definitely be in the top 5 for contention.
No particular order .. OTT,DET,ANA,SJ and HABS

so, back to reality, now. I wonder if Gainey is going to make a trade before the trade deadline. He can’t just have Ryder sitout every game. As much as I don’t want Ryder in the lineup, it’s the only way to get his value back up, so we could at least get a decent draft pick for him.

  17. I, once again insist Hab fans take it easy on the prospects”especialy home town boys”.Just seen the highlights of Dallas vs the flames where Ribero wins he face-off then scores his 18th to win the game.As it turns out he’s a late bloomer like Brent Hull was. The fans and Gainey really blew this one?And getting Niniima was a big slap in the face, lol……….

You cant just throw a goalie in for a shootout, even Price himself said he would not want to be thrown into the last 5 minutes of a game, just in case it is tied and you end up in a shootout, the rules dont allow you to change a goalie just for the shootout he has to be on the ice during the game, not the overtime period, but the 3rd period. So you can all stop crying now, we got 3 out of 4 points in two road games.
