The Canadiens host the Montreal Tampa Bay Lightning tonight in the final home game of the pre-season.. although keeping with the Quebec-ness of the Lightning over the past few years, the two clubs will play in Quebec City tomorrow night to close out the silly season.
I’m not going to say much about another pre-season game except this:
Debate is raging in Montreal as to whether or not Brendan Gallagher should stick with the Canadiens this season. I say NO!
I love what the kid brings, and I’m beyond excited to see him play for the Canadiens, but for once – we have the luxury of not rushing a prospect to fill a roster need. In order to play #73, we would need to sit another young player. I’m fine with that if Gallagher was Jeff Skinner ready – but as much as we love the kid – he’s not.
Brendan Gallagher should go back to Vancouver with all of the confidence in the world that he’s going to b an NHL player sometime very soon. He should use that motivation to dominate the West this year, dominate the world at the WJC at the Xmas break, and to dominate the playoffs when his team gets there.
Next year he’ll have every chance at making the big club straight out of camp. The Canadiens situation will be so much clearer as it concerns Kostitsyn, Desharnais, Eller, Pacioretty and the rest of the forward corps. Its not the end of the world for a guy to finish junior hockey before he’s thrown into playing at the highest level of competition in the world.
Go Habs Go!!!
