Pre-season!

  • Can you believe it!? The pre-season begins tonight for the Canadiens. The Florida Panthers are in town after two consecutive victories over the Senators. The game starts at 7:30pm, although I believe the only tv coverage is on RIS who are not showing the game, but pieces over the course of the game. That said, your best bet is on the old time radio, using the new time interweb – CJAD – http://www.cjad.com/node/531474. Tomorrow’s game against Ottawa will be televised as normal.

The game will mark the beginning of the Habs 5 games in 5 nights pre-season. The Lineup for tonight’s game is:

    Price, Sanford

Markov, Spacek, Gorges, O’B, Benoit, Subban

Cammalleri, Gomez, AK46, Gui!, Max, D’Ags, Stewart, Johansson, Trotter, Darche, Desharnais, White.

Well, its only the preseason, but there were reasons to smile tonight. You have to feel good about goals from Gomez, Cammalleri, and D’Agostini. Without watching the game its difficult to comment on Carey, but no goals works for me. It was great to hear O’Byrne’s name called a few times for some physical play. We’ll have more of a chance to grasp what is happening tomorrow night when some of the rest of the team are on the ice.

I can’t watch tomorrow as I’m heading down to London to watch the Knights season opener, but it will be interesting to see Halak in action as well as the Plex, Moen, Gionta line, and a couple guys like Sergei and Max Pac. With any luck we can get a few guys going with momentum into the season.

    Cheers!

I was just going through some of the interviews conducted in anticipation of tonights tilt with the Penguins over at HI/O when I heard the quote of the year so far:

reporter: “so tonight is the first chance that you’ve had to be reunited with Scott Gomez – are you excited?”

    Brian Gionta: “not really.”

    gold.

Max Pac will be the third wheel on the top line tonight. Cammy will be playing with AK46 and Ben Maxwell. Price is said to be playing the full 60 tonight barring a meltdown.

Mats Naslund, i think Gionta will end up being a fan favorite and one of gaineys best moves to date. He is like a little bulldog out there. Cant wait intill tonight.

I agree. You cant argue with a guy who ends up with 7 shots, 2 goals, +3, and killed penalties. Hope he can keep it up – he’s already changed my mind.
