I agree with Habsfan. Price will eventually take over, but not yet. They still need a good goalie in the organization to keep the pressure of Price, and to prevent him from getting ruined, while still allowing the team to win, in the event that he hits some kind of slump. Clearly, though, we have the best young goalie in the World and the next superstar net-minder in the NHL; calm, steady, and in position…and only 20 years old no less in the NHL.

I suspect that Huet could get traded, if that’s possible, at around the trade deadline or perhaps in the off-season. He’s an absolutely excellent goalie, but he deserves to be a starter and someone somewhere will give something good to get him.

so, wh’s worse at clearing a puck, Price or Huet? Huet will be playing next game. Habs never beat Florida, and Florida is the only team that habs don’t have a winning record against, in all 100 years! Yes, habs look very bad tonight. guess last 2 wins were just to tease us.

Wow never knew this, but the only organiztion the Habs have an all time losing record against is the Florida Panthers. Hmmmmmmm wonder how this happened. Oh well, I guess they’re just the Habs kryptonite, just like the Habs are to Boston.

The bottom line is: This team is unable to play for 60 minutes, and they don’t show up for more than half their games. So how are they expected to win?
I blame the coach. This has been an ongoing problem for 2 years. If the coach is unable to motivate his players, then he has to go!
As far as Price is concerned, he has been over hyped. He is ok, but not great. He allows 1 soft goal every game, and needs more tutoring and experience if he is ever expected to be a great goalie. I find he is far too relaxed in nets. I would like to see more fire and emotion from this kid. He always has an excuse why the puck went in. He needs to start taking responsibility and blame for mistakes, and he needs to learn from his mistakes. So far he has not. That is a sign of experience. I just wish the media didn’t hype him up so much. He isn’t another Dryden, Roy, Brodeur, or even Loungo. I see him as a good goalie in time, but not great one.

The Huet soft, late in the 3rd period goals are true. Five times so far in this short season the game was lost or a point was lost and given to the opponent. Thats a difference….thats another 5 to 8 points that would be on their tally this season. Makes a difference at years end doesn’t it? Now I’m not pointing the gun directly at Huet here either…I like the guy…in all these situations he’s gotten no help either. Guy, the getting up by a goal and trying to defend it for half a game or more doesnt work ok…..when you collapse in your own zone and play that boring, stupid brand of hockey, theres one word to the wise….YOU GOTTA BE GOOD ENOUGH TO DEFEND IT..we’re not. The opposition has 80% of the possesion, they get us chasing in our zone, we take penalties, and they get the goal they need…then a team who has been playing nothing but defense for 30 mins gotta try to get back into offensive mode..doesn’t work…not in Montreal anyways where we have trouble scoring 5 on 5 at the best of times. Can’t anyone in the front office or behind the bench see this ??? Hows about playing a full 60 mins of 2-way hockey ? Try that as a “secret” weapon. Give the forwards on this team a green light for offensive freedom and inventivness…just like Detroit and Ottawa. Forwards should be able to go do their job and not have to constantly worry more about being back behind their own blue line..talk about ***-backwards. My point on all of this is that you can’t hang Huet….it’s not just him. He’s won some big games for us over the last season and a half also. I don’ think Price is that much better that him yet….he will be #1…just not right now. Having said that, I also don’t think Huet should be handed his #1 position back either…I think they should use them as Detroit uses Osgood and Hasek…keep both goalies sharp and on their toes….cuz benching Price every 3 games outta 4 isn;t gonna help the guys skills either.

One more thing before I go….whats up with Brisebois on the PP ??? Anyone else find this too dumb to comprehend…the guy was basically run out of Montreal years ago….he;s the same player guys…there hasn’;t been that much improvement. How about trying this…Ryder is slumping bad….he can’t find the net or most times the space for a clean shot. He has a booming shot…try him on the point of the PP….get him more open, and get him whistling a few more shots at the goalies. Get the confidence back with a few goals that way…I’m really surprised they have’nt tried this yet…anyone else think this is worth a try for a guy with proven goal scoring abilities and a hard shot, who’s slumping right now ??

Why can’t we score ??? Simple answer to that..one would be, not enough skill in the lineup which makes a trade emminent…but the other reason is what bothers me….almost any time you look on the ice, who do you see…LaPierre, Kostopolous, Chipchura, Begin, Dandy. These guys aren’t gonna score alot Guy…duh !!! They are role players, like every other teams has…so why aren’t we using em that way…kill penalties, and a handful of shifts each period…thats it !!! The Koivu line isn’t producing….maybe because they’re not getting enough ice time, having to share it with 3rd and 4th liners every game…gotta keep going with your most skilled players..slumping or not;;just take a look at the more properous teams in the league…” why can’t we score”? What a joke…don’t take a GM to see this.
Anyways, sorry for my rantings..I am just one more frustrated Habs fan. GO HABS GO !!

Fair enough~ But let Price develop, and he will… There is no mold for goalies to fall into as far as style, emotion, or attitude. Different things work for different goalies (look at hasek’s effective “flop” style, used by no one else, or Brodeur’s old school stand up style)

Price will be our future, we hope for someone like Roy… but that is dreaming a bit~

PS – I wish we still had goalies stackin the pads like Ranford used to.. was so much more fun to watch then the Giguere no move but hit my massive equipment style
