Ray Emery Suspended
-
The National Hockey League has suspended Ottawa Senators goaltender Ray Emery for three games after his slash on Canadiens forward Maxim Lapierre on Saturday.
And rightfully so.
You don’t swing your stick to the head and face of another player.

- Senet1 : So we could pick anywhere from 25th to 23rd depending on who wins these quarter final series.
- Senet1 : First, is the 14 teams in the lottery. Then there are 12 teams that did not make the semi finals in the order of the seasonal finish, Then there are the four teams in the semi final the first two eliminated pick in the order of the regular season points total and the last two based on who wins and who loses the cup. So as it stand now if say Detroit beats Chicago then Detroit moves up to pick after us. Boston or NYR will move up and pick after us. LA or San Jose will move up and pick after us
- Senet1 : Basically, I was wrong about the draft pick situation. There are three groups of drafting teams within the 30 teams.
- Senet1 : seriously ready to challenge for the cup. He will us win games but he will not be the difference between winning the cup and not winning the cup. You pick up players like that once you have the team ready to challenge,.
- Senet1 : I am looking at the players to draft and there are a lot of big 6'3-6'5 forwards available ion the draft this year. If we could draft 3-4 big young players in the 2nd and 3rd round why would you want to give that up for a roster player who may have 2-3 years at best. If we are going to build a winner to have to build it with bigger players and there are a lot of good big players available this year. So you sign Ott and he is with us for the short run, but probably not when we are seriously re
- Senet1 : Boullion is a great mentor for the young D-men
- muller93 : Boullion is one of MBs great additions--Boull ion is a definite Keeper.
- muller93 : Getting rid of Kaberle frees up a lot of cash. Boullion is small but is reliable and doesn't back down from anyone.
- muller93 : Exactly Goalie any thoughts on a punishing D-man?
- goalie : They;re showing determination adn skill vs Ducks and Blackhawks.
- goalie : REd Wings could turn out to be the surprise team of this year's playoffs!
- goalie : WE need to rid our team of Kaberle and Webber. Step two would be to then move Diaz. If we get that big d-man I believe that would push Boullion to # 7 on the chart. We'd then go with Georges, PK,Markov (to continue mentoring Ememlin) Tinordi as our starting six . THEN I'd be excited about our chances. We could then work on getting bigger forwards.
- goalie : I too would gladly give up a 3rd round pick for Ott- the type of player we sadly lack. AND if we could get one more rugged, expeienced defenceman it would help immensely.
- muller93 : Senet what you are saying makes sense but if we can get Ott for a 3rd round I'll take that all day.
- muller93 : MB should be looking at a big D-man first, even though I like our blue line with the addition of Tinordi. We need that insurance just in case one gets injured. Also I'm a firm believer in starting with the goalie first then-defense-for wards-and we already have good goalie. We have all noticed when we have the lead Price is tough to beat.
- Senet1 : So sometimes you have to sacrifice for one year or two to build that team in the draft. then add the finishing touches through FA and trades.
- Senet1 : Muller, Detroit is another good example. They have been in the hunt every year with good well balanced teams yet only one or two cups to show for it. However, they have built a team that has a chance every years for the last 10+ years. That is what I think we have a chance to do this year with a good draft. It reminds me of the habs teams of the mid 80 and 90's we built a team then with sold draft picks and won the cup twice during that time period. So sometimes you have to sacrifice a one
- muller93 : Very true Senet, you do need luck and we haven't had any luck it seems since the habs moved to the Bell Center. We had an incredible run in 2010 with some crazy goal tending from Halak. With Galchenyuk-Tinor di-Gallagher all in 1 year--not too bad, even with an early exit in the playoffs.
- Senet1 : Muller I guess we all have our own ideas, but there has never been too many times that were successful when they traded their draft picks away. We have a chance to build this team so we have a shot at winning the cup over the next 10 years. Even as good as Pittsburgh has been they have only won the cup once since Crosby and Malkin have been with the team. That is because you not only need great players but you need luck to win, but one thing about Pittsburgh they have a chance every year. The
- muller93 : Good point on Torres, he might be a liability. Torres has to tone it down a bit, but that's his game-very aggressive.
- goalie : Though I don't condone what Raffi Torres did - thos shows you how repeat offenders or near offenders are going to be treated. His hit was NOT illegal BUT what the rap sheet adn reputation Torres has he got severly punished. Lesson to be learned by OTHER players because Torres dopesn't learn fromk his mistakes.
- muller93 : Senet normally I would agree with you on not trading draft picks but we are not in a rebuilding stage. Sometimes draft picks can be a roll of the dice and it can take up to 3 years to be NHL ready. We have a good team and I agree with Stuo players like Clowe-Torres-Ott -Scott will make a big difference. Somebody has to protect Gallagher, he can't keep getting hit the way does--we need a tough forward so they think twice before going after Gallagher.
- Senet1 : Really a heathly Habs team would probably win more games against the Pens that we did against the Sens. Reason they Pens would not play as physical against us as against the Sens. If we get good goaltending we win at least two games.
- zpezada4ok : hello all «link»
- stuo11 : hes a tougher big guy too! Just a minor adjustment but will help a bit
- stuo11 : hes better than markov, and hes french who was in mention for defenceman of the year
- goalie : Markov for Beauchemin - an injury prone d-man for an ;old timer'd-man. Beauchemin is NOT what the Habs need in my opinion. He is a HUGE defensive liability.
- goalie : Stuo 11 I'd make that trade with Oilers fast BUT I doubt the Oilers will make that. Two marginal d-men at the best for a switch of first round picks - not a chance .
- stuo11 : markov for beachemin?
- stuo11 : let moen go
- stuo11 : maybe try and get steve begin back
- stuo11 : we wouldve kicked out all other teams but pens, sens,
- stuo11 : pens have alot of forwaRDS same with us but we have better goaltending
- stuo11 : theres styles of play goalie. Sens played us good, but lost games to southeast teams florida and tampa and get crushed by leafs EVERYTIME. sens and leafsd cant beat bruins but we do frequently
- stuo11 : Diaz weber and our 1st for their first edm

How many games have Garth Murray and Aaron Downey cost this team??? Why pick on them, they’re 4th liners who work 4-5 minutes a game, they aren’t the problem!
February 13, 2007 at 5:23 pm
All you guys do is b*tch about how bad the team is.. and how gainey and carbo arn’t doing anything.. Go back 2 months and you were praising them on how good the team was doing.. Have you guys even played hockey in your life before? If you have, you still don’t know half as much as gainey and carbo. I think they are there for a reason so shut up and let them do thier jobs.. The habs will make the playoffs.. If you think they are such a bad team take your finger and stick it up your a**hole… There.. your officially a sens fan
February 13, 2007 at 5:26 pm
Calling Kovalev the Cancer maybe wrong, you know the team just experienced a rebirth which could be the difference… just so happens that it coincides with the injury to Kovalev. LOL
February 13, 2007 at 5:40 pm
les canadiens ,if I’m ever in a jet, crashing to the ground and your on it,you can trust I won’t be asking you for your viewpoint.
February 13, 2007 at 5:57 pm
Why do we have Samsonov in the lineup if we have Grabvoski waiting in the minor league. They both play the same style of hockey game. The only differences are that Grabvosky is wa faster than samsonov, he has more energy, he’s more creative. The only thing he needs to needs to improve is his final shot.
He’s an Ovechkin but lacks some size and doesn’t finish his plays.
Imagine Grabvosky in the lineup and has learned how to finish his plays…………….(it can’t be better than that.)
Lineup
Ryder-Koivu-Samsonov
Latendresse-Higgins-Grabvosky
Johnson-Bonk-Perezoghin
Murray-Begin-Lapierre
What do you guys think?
February 13, 2007 at 5:59 pm
I think Grabby’s injured at the moment…
February 13, 2007 at 6:13 pm
Jack – did you demote Plekanec to hamilton in your list or is he on D now?
February 13, 2007 at 6:57 pm
Hey Les Canadiens, go back two months and I was reminding everyone because of Gainey’s demotion of the rookies down to the dogs we would head where we are now. I also said Carboneau’s constant line changes aren’t helping either back then. And by the way, you should be grateful that there are fans that care enough to want the team to win and have some kind of standard…..
Hey Jack, do you have Plekanec in the Youpie suit, or does Sammy get to take turns…..maybe we should ask Les Canadiens there to wear the suit since he is so hot on morale there…..
I like the line of Ryder, I would put Bonk with Lapierre and Latrendese and call it a hard hitting line, or what amounts to an almost hard hitting line…Murray with Begin and Johnson maybe, but which line would Youpie play in, because with Gainey not trading anyone, we may have to call on Youpie to play….and maybe Carbo even….heck we’ll get Dryden back in the net, couldn’t be worse than Huets and Abbys hit and miss play.
I am suprised no one commented on Souray and his comments on TSN….benching Kovalev?
February 13, 2007 at 7:16 pm
I had completely forgot about plecks…lol. Place Higgins either on the 1st line or 3rd.
February 13, 2007 at 8:06 pm
Hey Habs fans…THM stands for Toronto Hockey Mom.She loves too provoke fans of teams that are higher in the standings than the Leafs are.
It’s her way of feeling better about her team.
Of course the way the Habs are playing you guys won’t have to worry about her teasing you very soon!
February 13, 2007 at 8:45 pm
Okay let’s revive the Gainey list of his wish list, his dream list of hockey players. Who would have thought Gainey was an ambulance chaser? Coming soon to Montreal after Gainey trades away all of our prospects, including selling Carey Price’s team to Dallas…This is Gainey’s short list for the Feb deadline, if we go on Gainey’s modus operandai, these are some of the potential habs, of course the ones who have small paycheques but listed here would not be included, unless they can negotiate a multimillion dollar no trade contract….

Montreal is the UNICEF of pro hockey players. Yes if you are a tired has been millionaire come to Montreal and retire yet enjoy the benefits of still being the NHLPA and watch and play against the NHL! Yes are you a tired veteran? Can’t afford your pain killers and your doctors’ fee? Come to Montreal to BoB Gainey’s Crazy Hospital for Washed Up Veterans, otherwise known as the Montreal Canadians! Eager, talented, high scoring stars need not apply.
February 13, 2007 at 9:06 pm
joshtm ,that’s a classic ,lol.
February 13, 2007 at 9:14 pm
Gee, its kinda fun without Kovalev, and Johnson…the game actually flows faster and gee, does that mean we are wasting what is it? Almost seven million a year on two old tired cranks?
February 13, 2007 at 9:20 pm
If our team dosn’t make the big show it’s a waste of a lot more than 7 million !
February 13, 2007 at 10:02 pm
Babylon is burning man !!!
February 13, 2007 at 11:02 pm
The worst team in hockey!
I can’t believe we won’t make the playoffs this year,
I just can’t believe it!
This is a sad, sad day.
February 13, 2007 at 11:14 pm
Well that big team meeting sure was the fix;is there a goalie out there that isn’t freeking hot when playing the Habs??????????? THE HABS ****** SUCK THE BIG ONE,WHAT A JOKE !!! OUR TEAM IS THE WORST TEAM IN THE N.H.L.
February 13, 2007 at 11:16 pm
What a beautiful loose. they go to special training to loose like this.
February 13, 2007 at 11:17 pm
well if we can anything good after this dissapointing loss to a below-average team (pathers)…umm huet, he played great finally, i dont rememmber the last time he only let in one goal. The sad part is that we got shutout to belfour, and every team in the east who we needed not to get points won, and we didn’t get anything. I still think will make the playoffs, but in the 8th seed, and will play buffalo first round:)

No playoffs, my friends
February 13, 2007 at 11:21 pm
Please, can you tell me how we’re gonna make the playoffs?
I’d love to here this.
Are you watching what’s going on?
Gimme a break man, it’s over!
February 13, 2007 at 11:21 pm
Sorry for my earlier outburst but I REALLY HATE Leaf fans coming on here because I wouldn’t waste my time going on their blog. Hab fans have more class I guess.
About tonight’s game, well we’ve slipped to 8th place and the way it’s going we are going to be out of the playoffs. I’m stunned right now, I cannot fathom how this team could have such a strong first half of the season and then all of a sudden go so COLD?? This is devastating right now. Why can’t we score?? Better bring in a hypnotist or something because these guy’s are totally snakebit. I just can’t believe this!!
February 13, 2007 at 11:24 pm
I bet on Florida because I have absolutely no confidence in the habs. Habs now have lost 4 in a row. And guess what? they’re going to lose tomorrow night in NJ, and they will lose on Saturday at home against Carolina. I actually watched this game from Florida’s standpoint, and there was absolutely NO OFFENCE from the habs. And Koivu doesn’t have his head in the game. He takes a penalty with his team having a 2 man advantage! what a moron. he is NOT A LEADER! he has taken so many BAD PENALTIES in the last few weeks. What the hell is he thinking? They can’t even score 1 fu@#$%ken goal at home! PATHETIC!
This is the worst hab team offensively I have ever seen!
February 13, 2007 at 11:24 pm
A FREAKING 5 ON 3 FOR 2 MINS AND WE STILL CANT SCORE!!!!!!!! WE DESERVE TO LOOSE AFTER THAT!!!! WHAT A FREAKIN JOKE!!! I’M SO FREAKIN MAD!!!!! IM GOING TO THE GAME TOMORROW IN NJ FOR WHAT I DONT KNOW!?!?! JUST TO WATCH THEM LOOSE AGAIN…
February 13, 2007 at 11:25 pm
Habs4life,the Habs couldn’t score in a ***** HOUSE and the glasshouse that Richard built is in a billion pieces !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 13, 2007 at 11:26 pm
How can this be…? Someone explain to me how you get from 2nd best in the conference (in points, not rankings) to the best example of the titanic?!?
I didn’t see the game, but how many times have we been shutout in the past games?!? Humiliation after humiliation. I give us a chance at 8th place if we manage to stay above .500 from now on.
I guess the advantage to this is that I’ll lose less time watching hockey and study more…
February 13, 2007 at 11:35 pm
Well that second best in the conference was an illusion built on great special teams and unreal goaltending. It was always a matter of time but management didn’t want to face that.
February 13, 2007 at 11:35 pm
No guts… no grit… disorganized… scared… no confidence… No PLAYOFFS… oh, ****.
February 13, 2007 at 11:36 pm
I can’t believe that joshtm idiot spent half a novel worth of typing every team’s injured list just to say Bob Gainey’s less than adequate… that’s classic, what a ****
February 13, 2007 at 11:37 pm
Well next time they better keep that illusion going all year instead of stopping halfway XD
February 13, 2007 at 11:38 pm
JohnnyD man that sucks!
What a waste of time going to NJ tomorrow night.
February 13, 2007 at 11:55 pm
Hey Johnny it’s LOSE not LOOSE.
February 13, 2007 at 11:59 pm
well us fans aren’t helping them out either, we have to give the grestest hockey team of all time some support, we’ve been there for the good, and we’ve been there for the bad, but when it comes down to making that 8th spot, habs own it. We will make the playoffs i promise it.:):):):)

I said this earlier but i dont know any GM in the league that would let their team fall this far that fast without addressing the problem.Maybe its sour grapes but come on guys its true
February 14, 2007 at 12:27 am
Leafs fans may have no class, but at least they went to class!

You can lead smiler to the beer but will smiler drink it? Stay tuned for the next chapter of smiler’s odysey…….
Isn’t it odd that Gainey’s biggest acquisitions as GM were largely former injured has beens who at best were adequate, that is they could tie their skates and not fall over, but if they did, hey they busted a groin, got a concussion and caught the flu and twisted their ankle or broke their wrist…..and Gainey paid them millions over three and four year contracts….hmmm…I wonder who on the list of injured now will Gainey squander what little cap room is left after he fires Koivu and Kovalev?
