Samsonov wants out!
-
Good Riddance!
Sergei Samsonov and his agent aren’t pleased. Not pleased with how he’s been treated in Montreal.
Well roll out the red carpet for Mr. Samsonov because he’s certainly earned it, hasn’t he? He should be calling the shots right? With his performance he’s earned the right to demand what he wants, earned the right to flap his gums to the media.
Samsonov will never recover from this. Should he NOT be traded, the taste he’s left in the mouths of Canadiens fans is bitter. Very bitter.
Who in their right mind will take Samsonov and his salary? The big rumor is Chicago. Gainey will have to pull some strings to come out ahead on this one.
Congratulations Mr. Samsonov, you’ve brought no class to an organization built on it.

- Margahayuland : hi all... sorry add this «link»
- Senet1 : I want the Bruins to win anyway so that we pick ahead of them in the Draft.
- Senet1 : Muller you got your wish NYR won game 4. So the Bruins will have to play another game at least.
- Senet1 : He may just bring all three of the kids up.
- muller93 : MB is forced to go out and get a big D-man. Missing Emelin for almost half the season is the last thing we needed to hear. Now going out and getting a big D-man is a MUST!!!
- muller93 : Now for the Fu**en Bruins who have no business even being in the second round are going to get a nice rest. Yes the same goons who took out one of best D-man for 6 more months. There is NO Fu**en justice. Just venting--Ok i feel better now.
- muller93 : So pissed to see the Rangers lay down and play like total crap. How did the Rangers beat the Caps? This team is playing with no heart--a must win and can only muster 23 shots...PATHETIC !!!
- muller93 : Senet I did see Galchenyuks goal--Made a great move for the game winner. You can see the kid has so much confidence.
- goalie : If Rangers get swept I wonder if Tortorella will get his walking papers? Or Glen Sather? They have tons of 'talent' but zero wins in this series.
- goalie : It's really too bad we lost to the Sens as we would have played the Rangers and the way NYR are playing we would have beat them too. If only. If only!
- Senet1 : Actually I agree it was a good move for them to play a shorter season and get the experience. He could not have played in the minors this year he would have had to play junior or the NHL. However, he now has a year under him and knows what to expect next year and hopefully take a bigger responsibility on the team. Did you see those two goals in the bronze game? Wow.
- muller93 : Good move by the Habs not having Galchenyuk play in the minors. Now Galchenyuk has 1 year in the NHL and playoff experience this is going to pay off big time come next year.
- Senet1 : Galchenyuk scores to back to back goals in shoot out to help USA win Bronze metal. I did not see the second goal but the first was a beauty.
- Senet1 : So we could pick anywhere from 25th to 23rd depending on who wins these quarter final series.
- Senet1 : First, is the 14 teams in the lottery. Then there are 12 teams that did not make the semi finals in the order of the seasonal finish, Then there are the four teams in the semi final the first two eliminated pick in the order of the regular season points total and the last two based on who wins and who loses the cup. So as it stand now if say Detroit beats Chicago then Detroit moves up to pick after us. Boston or NYR will move up and pick after us. LA or San Jose will move up and pick after us
- Senet1 : Basically, I was wrong about the draft pick situation. There are three groups of drafting teams within the 30 teams.
- Senet1 : seriously ready to challenge for the cup. He will us win games but he will not be the difference between winning the cup and not winning the cup. You pick up players like that once you have the team ready to challenge,.
- Senet1 : I am looking at the players to draft and there are a lot of big 6'3-6'5 forwards available ion the draft this year. If we could draft 3-4 big young players in the 2nd and 3rd round why would you want to give that up for a roster player who may have 2-3 years at best. If we are going to build a winner to have to build it with bigger players and there are a lot of good big players available this year. So you sign Ott and he is with us for the short run, but probably not when we are seriously re
- Senet1 : Boullion is a great mentor for the young D-men
- muller93 : Boullion is one of MBs great additions--Boull ion is a definite Keeper.
- muller93 : Getting rid of Kaberle frees up a lot of cash. Boullion is small but is reliable and doesn't back down from anyone.
- muller93 : Exactly Goalie any thoughts on a punishing D-man?
- goalie : They;re showing determination adn skill vs Ducks and Blackhawks.
- goalie : REd Wings could turn out to be the surprise team of this year's playoffs!
- goalie : WE need to rid our team of Kaberle and Webber. Step two would be to then move Diaz. If we get that big d-man I believe that would push Boullion to # 7 on the chart. We'd then go with Georges, PK,Markov (to continue mentoring Ememlin) Tinordi as our starting six . THEN I'd be excited about our chances. We could then work on getting bigger forwards.
- goalie : I too would gladly give up a 3rd round pick for Ott- the type of player we sadly lack. AND if we could get one more rugged, expeienced defenceman it would help immensely.
- muller93 : Senet what you are saying makes sense but if we can get Ott for a 3rd round I'll take that all day.
- muller93 : MB should be looking at a big D-man first, even though I like our blue line with the addition of Tinordi. We need that insurance just in case one gets injured. Also I'm a firm believer in starting with the goalie first then-defense-for wards-and we already have good goalie. We have all noticed when we have the lead Price is tough to beat.
- Senet1 : So sometimes you have to sacrifice for one year or two to build that team in the draft. then add the finishing touches through FA and trades.
- Senet1 : Muller, Detroit is another good example. They have been in the hunt every year with good well balanced teams yet only one or two cups to show for it. However, they have built a team that has a chance every years for the last 10+ years. That is what I think we have a chance to do this year with a good draft. It reminds me of the habs teams of the mid 80 and 90's we built a team then with sold draft picks and won the cup twice during that time period. So sometimes you have to sacrifice a one
- muller93 : Very true Senet, you do need luck and we haven't had any luck it seems since the habs moved to the Bell Center. We had an incredible run in 2010 with some crazy goal tending from Halak. With Galchenyuk-Tinor di-Gallagher all in 1 year--not too bad, even with an early exit in the playoffs.
- Senet1 : Muller I guess we all have our own ideas, but there has never been too many times that were successful when they traded their draft picks away. We have a chance to build this team so we have a shot at winning the cup over the next 10 years. Even as good as Pittsburgh has been they have only won the cup once since Crosby and Malkin have been with the team. That is because you not only need great players but you need luck to win, but one thing about Pittsburgh they have a chance every year. The
- muller93 : Good point on Torres, he might be a liability. Torres has to tone it down a bit, but that's his game-very aggressive.
- goalie : Though I don't condone what Raffi Torres did - thos shows you how repeat offenders or near offenders are going to be treated. His hit was NOT illegal BUT what the rap sheet adn reputation Torres has he got severly punished. Lesson to be learned by OTHER players because Torres dopesn't learn fromk his mistakes.
- muller93 : Senet normally I would agree with you on not trading draft picks but we are not in a rebuilding stage. Sometimes draft picks can be a roll of the dice and it can take up to 3 years to be NHL ready. We have a good team and I agree with Stuo players like Clowe-Torres-Ott -Scott will make a big difference. Somebody has to protect Gallagher, he can't keep getting hit the way does--we need a tough forward so they think twice before going after Gallagher.

I have a hard time listening to fans who critize Carbo and Gainey. Have they made all the right moves maybe not what management team has, but we do have one of the best power plays in the league and our penalty killing unit is pretty darn good too. What we need is more consistency out of some of our star players especially five on five. Yes we could use a power forward and someone to center our second line. Every time could use a stronger defence so if we can get someone to improve there great. But complaining about our management is pretty stupid. After all it was not that long ago when we were not even close to making the playoffs. Yes we need to pick it up a little and play better than 500 hockey down the stretch and hopefully a trade will shake the team up enough that we can get back on the right track. But lay off the management that is one of our stronger points as I see it.
February 6, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Hey BeSen, its Carbo and Gainey that hired Samsonov, it sure as heck wasn’t Ziman, or XHABSFAN or hey it wasn’t the City Hall, or what’s the other excuses? Revenue Canada hired Samsonov….honestly, the excuses just keep coming and those for and against the actions of the habs organization….
Isn’t it odd the George G would spend his own money to build Liverpool a new stadium but he sure as heck won’t give us any leg room to hire some real talent? Or how Gauthier and Gainey all but handcuff themselves by throwing money at players no one else wants. Heck if Gainey went to a yard sale, he’d buy the most expensive useless thing guaranteed to break down…he just has that wonderful Midas touch. Yet he can pick the rookies…just what gives? Good with rookies but just crapshoot out of luck with real hockey players? And then there’s Carboneaus Las Vegas Lines, just pull the arm on the one arm Jack and figure out who’s gonna play on which line, heck next we’ll see Huet playing rightwing in his full gear, send Youpie out there too won’t you Guy?
Okay I go to far, but honestly sometimes it just makes you wonder.
February 6, 2007 at 8:52 pm
BeSen is right on. You wouldn’t believe some of the vitriolic tripe I was reading on TSN’s website about Gainey and Carbo. You would think that they were the worst Gm and coach in the NHL according to some people. The big issue here is Samsonov WASN’T PRODUCING, he whined in November about not getting enough ice time, he whined when he got benched the second time and finally CRYED to his agent to be traded out on Montreal. When a player doesn’t want to pay for a team then he HAS to be moved or his attitude will spread to the rest of the team. The Habs signed him as a last ditch effort to improve the team and unfortunately it did not work out. It is time to turn the page.
February 6, 2007 at 8:54 pm
Hey doggone, it’s Huet’s horrible record, he’s in a slump, he’s lost more than he has won, that is why the habs are in a minnie slump there, it’s all the goalies fault, cause Souray ain’t gonna win us game winning goals every time, and our offense is hit and miss, and we have no defense to speak of really…..once Huet snaps out of it then we’ll have a chance at putting our foot in the door for the playoffs, it may take bringing up some new blood though from the dogs, Andy Over Andy Over, bring Grabby and Kosty over cause Rivet sure as heck isn’t standing tall on defense….
February 6, 2007 at 9:06 pm
Classic trade. Jokinen is unhappy, Sammy is unhappy, maybe Jokinen can be unhappy next in MOntreal and Sammy can in turn be unhappy down in the states…or hey Forsberg says okay to a trade, maybe Sammy and who knows who Gainey would give up would go…
February 6, 2007 at 9:14 pm
Or hey wouldn’t Rivet and Sammy look good in Coyotes uniforms? Maybe the Great One can do us a favour, maybe in return for a first round draft pick, cause of Phoenix’s place, we might get a decent rookie prospect….we’ll throw in Downie perhaps and bring up Butterfly Biron in hopes he’ll sting like a bee finally….
February 6, 2007 at 9:35 pm
Well joshtm I guess you showed your true colours this time and they were not Red, white and blue. I did not say that they did not make any mistakes but what GM hasn’t. They took a chance that he would fit in and he didn’t. So when you can show me another GM that hasn’t made a mistake during their term maybe I will agree with you. If Samsonov had scored 20-30 goals I wonder what you would be saying then. They gambled on a former first round draft choice and sometimes the gamble works and sometimes is doesn”t. Many GM’s have done the same thing and sometimes it works and sometimes is doesn’t. I guess my point is that we have a good team but not a great team and maybe with a trade or two we can make our team better. Then again maybe not. Only time will tell. If we were winning like we were in the fall we probably would not be having this discussion. We hab fans always seem to get down on our team at the worst times.
February 6, 2007 at 10:03 pm
There’s something really Deja Vue about this game ,oh yeah it’s Cam Ward, lil’*******!!
February 6, 2007 at 11:05 pm
To beat a hot goalie ,U need fire power , ours is Pleks, Souray, Nemo,Downey and Murray. Look ,if U want to win with Defence, U need ****’n snipers, real ones.
February 6, 2007 at 11:17 pm
well we lost, AGAIN! I’m really getting tired of losing . It’s getting old.
6 games in a row we have given up the first goal of the game. Not a good sign.
Koivu said they play better when they’re behind. Well they’re getting good pracice at that. It seems every game they find a way to lose. You know what they say: Good teams find a way to win, and lousy teams find a way to lose.
It looks like they’re playing without any confidence, and they can’t score on the PP anymore. So to sum it up, I’m disgusted! the opposition loves to play habs, because they know how soft our team is, and an easy win for them.
Remember in the 70′s how intimidating habs were, well just the opposite now. That’s why leafs lick their chops when they know they’re playing us. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. shameful, we can’t score more than 1 goal.
BTW, Pitt, with their win tonight, only 1 point behind us, with 2 games in hand. And now we have back to back games vs Ottawa. Doesn’t look good.

Xhabsfan:
Snipers? Your team just put one of your best hopes of a sniper on waivers today! All because in November, he wouldn’t roll over and accept his demotion to Latendresse because Montreal fans were looking really stupid all over North America chanting “GUI-GUI-GUI” before le garcon d’or had posted a single point in the NHL (Two months into the season, I might add!) Really Xhabsfan, you should check with management before posting your rants.
Well, my new team (the Penguins) beat the best team in hockey (Nashville) easily tonight by a score of 4-1. Of course, we all know that whinny, cry baby, anglo Crosby (who goes down when you spear him in the gut or high stick him in the face) doesn’t have the maturity to play for the Blue, Blanc et Rouge of les Glorieux. How did you guys make out against Carolina (8th place in the Eastern Conference) at home tonight, by the way?
Since you guys don’t seem to want talented, “broken down” players in Montreal, I just hope that you won’t mind if the Pens steal him off waivers because I really think that there is still a lot of talent left in Samsanov’s tank. Maybe Aaron Downey can give us all a lecture (not just Sidney Crosby) a lesson on how to play hockey properly since he is that much closer to being the most talented player on the Montreal roster.
February 6, 2007 at 11:33 pm
It’s heart breaking watching them lose, they lack consistency…I know Samsonov is playing bad but I rather have him on ice than Downey. I really can’t wait for Steve Begin to get back on the ice…
February 6, 2007 at 11:33 pm
Joshtm: I have always paid attention to myor posts. I have to admit you havea point. Bob Gainey is a little conservative. But, you have to admit you’ re a little too picky. Every night, after we win, I sit down on my chair and start reading the posts, and the funniest part is that I am always looking for your posts. I just want you to appreciate the team instead of criticizing it. I know that the Hab fans are not at all loyal(no wonder why Shanahan and Elias denied playing for Habs although they were willing to pay them way more than they get paid right now)
One other thing I wanted to mention Joshtm, this year Habs actually gave the chance to two youngsters to play permanently for the big club not to forget, we gave chances to Kostistyn and Grabvoski.
Sincerely,
Jack

Wow.
Robert Miller I did not expect you of all people to be so fairweather.
Penguins fan all of a sudden?
Must be hard to love the penguins when they turn it on, I don’t recall you a penguin fan when they were bottom feeding.
February 6, 2007 at 11:36 pm
Another thing, if you are such a Samsonov fan perhaps you should learn the proper spelling of your favorite players name.
February 6, 2007 at 11:47 pm
Thank- you H .B. ,U the man.
February 7, 2007 at 12:15 am
They should trade samasonov for Martin Havlat
February 7, 2007 at 12:21 am
waive sammy? oh yah that was the right thing to do ..not? he was one of our best snipers but hard to produce when you got zero pp or pk time all season..everyone knows the top players in the league including kovy get half their points on the pp…if kovy didn’t get every pp shift than he would have less points than samsonov…why is he always the scapegoat…waive koivu kovalev ryder and higgins…and huet…you are an allstar..you should be starting 90% of the games win or lose..you got us here and when we lost it wasn’t your fault…see how #2 abby likes losing everygame cause we only score one goal…PAck your bags huet and leave with sammy..you both deserve better than the treatment and lack of respect you got this year

Habs blog:
I have actually been a Habs fan my entire life.
However, if you look back at some of my previous posts of the last few months, you will see that I mention that the Habs future hopes of another cup in the next decade are probably dependent on signing Sidney Crosby as a free agent in 2012. He made no secrets of the fact that he wanted (emphasize: wanted — past tense ) to play in Montreal. Most of you obviously seem to know nothing about how much Sidney Crosby wanted to play for the Habs (or maybe, you don’t really care.)
However, after the Montreal fans booed him every time he touched the puck last Sunday, and chanted, “faker, faker” at him, why should he even consider going near that place in his career? He can play wherever he wants to. Seriously, if you really think that Montreal is currently such a great place to play, recall that Samsonov was Plan E after Elias, Arnott, Sykora, and Shanahan all refused to sign. This particular free agency signing has ended badly so do you really think that free agents are going to be lining up next summer to sign with Montreal?
You should all try to remember that Canadiens fans live all across North America these days, and if Habs’ fans are seen behaving in a manner that is highly offensive to an entire region of the country, you should expect to lose some of your fans in that region. Congratulations, some of you made a 19 year old kid from Nova Scotia look bad on national television last Sunday. You won a battle, but you lost a war!
End of rant. That’s it — I’m done!
February 7, 2007 at 12:40 am
It’s all the LeJournal’s fault, yup Rob, they were down there in the Canes net, stopping those hot shots by Pleks, and most of all did you catch those Quebec Tax collectors knock Abby down so the Canes could score? Wasn’t that a Liverpool hooligan that headbutted Carbo at the last minute? Oh ya, the Habs Hooligans did the habs in again…..as if.
Souray looked drunk coming into the third period, he did not finish a single pass, giving the puck away almost each time….and that was a mistake putting Dandy and Ninny on the last minute of play, talk about spoiling a good last shot. And Boully there did us in too. At least Rivet finally protected Abby. But not before Ninny slashed Abby, suprised the ref didn’t give Ninny a penalty for slashing his own goalie!
Johnson looked like a rag doll again, as if having Ninny and Dandy knocked over, man we’ll have to call the Habs the Rag Doll team….make them all wear red wigs and paint freckles on their faces….the only solid player was Rivet for once hitting like he meant it, and Pleks tried but hey Pleks deserves a red wig for being a good rag doll too. Honestly, the habs have no substance as far as solid defensive or offensive punch. Unlike when Souray got ejected a few games ago. We almost need to call up Grabby and Kosty if only to give the other teams solid body checks….
Finally, there they were RDS, Le Journal and the Gazette all ganging up the habs bench preventing them from going on the ice, it was shocking the media did the habs in again, not to mention the hab hooligan fans, oh don’t forget the quebec tax man, honestly it was a horrible conspiracy, just ask Samsonov….
February 7, 2007 at 12:41 am
Rob,did you know that if you nailed your wife as much as you’ve been nailing Hab Fans lately, you would have your own country,.geeesee man.
February 7, 2007 at 12:45 am
The points keep dropping and Leafs are flying.
It can’t get any worse. We’ll have to face reality soon.
We just can’t seem to score 5 on 5.
Looks as if Higgy might have found his groove.
Please scratch Ryder, he’s done and this teams done.
February 7, 2007 at 12:45 am
C’mon Rob…..
You can’t actually think that a childhood fantasy of playing for the Canadiens has ANY impact whatsoever on the decision a 24 yr old man with 5 years NHL experience is going to make. Probably 5 scoring championships……
You think he finishes every game , leading the league in scoring and goes home and dreams of the Canadiens logo at night? Get real.
I know you’re from Nova Scotia, maybe even his home town, but c’mon.
Crosby is not a Timbit anymore, he’s the league’s best scorer and I’m sure ’2012′ and Montreal is the last possible thought in his mind.
As far as alienating potential free agents, you’re dead on. It’s been happening here forever, and until the next french sensation comes on we’ll probably always struggle with that.
February 7, 2007 at 1:03 am
Koivu was the worst player on the ice for either team tonight and it kills me to say that. Weak in the defensive zone, invisible in teh offensive and takes the lazy penalty that leads to the GWG. Pleks has been our best center no doubt about it. Even Rivet stepped up and helped SOuray with the leadership role on the ice. NOw only if teh CAPTAIN would help out.
TOugh loss, NOt a bad game but need to take more liberties on WIlliams next time. ITs an insult that he scored.
February 7, 2007 at 1:05 am
Sorry rob i guess i exposed your true colours. Now even the Blog is jumping on the bandwagon. Sorry Dude (he he he)
February 7, 2007 at 1:10 am
FOrsberg is needed for two reasons:
1) superstar quality to rejuvenate the team
2) To give Joshtm more to talk about regrading broken down players. Im afraid he is running out of dribble.

Habs blog:
I don’t really know why I keep coming back to this site, but if you guys don’t know that Crosby REALLY wanted to play for the Habs then you REALLY don’t know squat about him or his family. When the #1 draft pick and future greatest player of all time says before the lottery draft in 2005 that he hopes that he is picked by Montreal, he probably means it! Otherwise, why would he have said it? In fact, it actually hurts his career/bargaining position that he once did say it.
The treatment that Crosby received at the hands of the Hab’s fans last Sunday was atrocious. I spent a good part of my life in Montreal so I understand how competitive/brutal the fans can get, but I would bet that most Nova Scotians don’t have an inkling as to why that happened the way it did. All they see is a bunch of hooligans who are booing and chanting “faker, faker” to their hero on national television. Crosby is a good kid with principles and a ton of natural talent. He deserved much better than that, and I am not just saying that because I live in his home town.
Yes, joshtm, I repeat that there are many ways that the way fans conduct themselves that can hurt a team. You can choose to believe that or not.
February 7, 2007 at 2:38 am
“lottery draft in 2005.” Buddy, that was close to 2 years ago!
Stop living in the Summer of 05. 10 minutes later he was drafted by the Penguins, end of story.
Maybe your imposing your OWN Nova Scotian fantasies and dreams on Crosby and Montreal.
February 7, 2007 at 2:52 am
Habs blog:
If you are wondering why I am so pissed about this, consider the fact that Denis Savard (although not nearly so talented as Sidney Crosby) did not hide the fact that he wanted to play for the Canadiens too, but had the misfortune of being drafted by the Black Hawks before the Habs could get to him in the draft. However, whenever Denis came to town, it was always pretty hard to tell that he didn’t actually play for the Canadiens. He was always greeted as a native son in Montreal.
What is the hell is the difference in the Crosby situation? There is one big factor, and you and I both know what that factor is. For the last roughly twenty years of my life, we have watched that particular factor rip this team apart. It has also been a factor in the Samsonov situation as I have previously alluded to (post #62.)
Who made that factor important? The fans in Montreal, of course. Bob Gainey didn’t!
Nothing that the rest of us can do, but sit back and watch it happen yet again. Well, this time the folks that have decided that this factor is more important than talent can go down with the boat because some of us are abondoning ship. C’mon, admit it! You are thinking the same thing.
Actually, Habs Blog; it’s probably better that you stay on board, and try to straighten the deck chairs on this Titanic. If you ask me, you could probably challenge the joshtm’s of the world a little more to find out what makes them think and behave in the ways that they do. Hell, you might even be Canada’s next Don Cherry if you did that….
See you, it really has been fun. I am not kidding.
PS. I’ll be back if Crosby does sign with the Habs one day.

Note to Gillett, get the habs defense those Liverpool red wigs the soccer hooligan fans wear, that would finish the knockem over, rag doll impression that Ninny, Dandy and Boullion revel at, or Johnson’s rag doll impression when he tries to the one man kamikazi rush. The habs specialty, not a team offense but a bunch of kamikazi rushing rag dolls who only sometimes score. That is not an offense. Koivu was back to his penalty tricks, that is why Montreal lost yet again, Koivu getting a stupid penalty, and in the Cane’s zone of all places, when the habs had the puck! What kind of leadership is that? Maybe Bonk should be given the Captain sweater, Captain Bonk!
Talk about a real freaked out team, you have the weirdest looking most odd collection of misfits, honestly, where else would you have someone like Kovalev sitting next to Murray, or Downie or Johnson…that really doesn’t look like a habs team, more like some weird team from the american leagues as would fit in a Paul Newman movie, the Habs Chieftains. All we need are the crazy triplets…hey Gainey see if we can get some more weird looking players to come to Montreal….

Looks like what Gainey looks for is hockey players who are just as ugly as he is. That must be it. Anyone know of any real ugly centermen that don’t get knocked down by the smallest breeze? Oh ya, they have to have a long history of injuries, can’t be forgetting the one other requirement to be drafted by Gainey, injured vets…..the Habs Hospital, MASH Montreal….calling Colonel Gainey, calling Colonel Gainey, please come to the operating room, Johnson need another liver transplant….

I thought this page was for hockey talk. Such a shame.
February 7, 2007 at 9:27 am
After all the crowing in the first half of the season what are you guys going to do when the Habs miss the playoffs?
February 7, 2007 at 9:30 am
Well I guess we can cancel the parade down ste catherine st now that ROB is a pens’ fan!?!? I just hope we can find the resources to get crosby so that he comes back!!…~LOSER
Anyone who jumps from one team’s band wahon to another…is simply…Not a man!ride with the tide, and jump when ther’s rough seas! Anyway who cares!
At the risk of sounding like the hardcore optimist…If Huet can find his A game..which I believe to be likely, If higgins (who has shown signs of his confidence being back!) Can turn it around… ~Who am I kidding!
I think that pure and simple…CARBO HAS LOST THE TEAM! Even Koivu whom has always had a kind of “spark” was being interviewd and you saw that ther’s is something really “off” about him, and many others…It’s in “the room” and I have to think it’s the coach! I say, (And i’m the last one who believes that the first sacraficial lamb should be the coach!) But in this perticular case, Get rid of carbo.. There is way to much uncertaity, the lines are all over the place..He tries to sit certain players that don’t deserve to be sat in the hopes of sending the message to the others players!?! Who does that? WOMEN, women will often say things that mean things COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!! And how effective is it ! IT”S NOT! Chalk it up as an experiment! and move on it just didn’t work with Carbo behind the bench…get Pat burns back behind the bench.. get a good power forward! trade ryder and ninnima,Do something about kovelev! no one would take his selfish overpaid underachieving ***! so let him play in the minors so him and sammy can NOT score together for hamilton!
And let’s at least enjoy a playoff round or 2 . and see what developps next season!
If they drop these 2 games to the sens…!!! then…………..
February 7, 2007 at 9:33 am
Wow.. Samsonov didn’t play again and Montreal still lost? Now who is going to be the fall guy and the reason for the Habs losing? Goes to show that it’s not one guy, it’s the team. Reading back on some of the earliest posts, some people should give Sammy a break. It’s time to find another reason why the team is failing, don’t you think?
February 7, 2007 at 9:47 am
Rob with all do to respect Yes crosby did grow up loving the habs and YES i am sure he was hopeing the lottery draft would of landed him in montreal but the fact is pittsburgs has him now and forever.Even when he does become an UFA remember this:MONEY TALKS AND BULLSHIT WALKS.Crosby is a pen for life
February 7, 2007 at 10:43 am
It’s not Carbo’s fault. The team was overachieving based on special teams. Since their 5-on-5 play has always been terrible their recent special teams downturn is starting to cost the Habs games. Forget a playoff round or two the only rounds Montreal will be playing will involve greens and tees.

Maybe WE all should quit cheering for the Habs. Can anyone else stand that they do not win every game! And Samsonov was a fall guy and we have been hampering his progress from day 1. Kovalev not Canadian! Carbo lost the farm and his marbles! Gainey does know how to be a GM! The Titanic sinking, and there are not enough life boats! LOL The drama you read on this site sometimes! What a joke!
Samsonov sealed his own fate… maybe he received a bit of heat for not producing and was the third highest paid player. But oh he was impeded by Kovalev… just like Pleks has been when he was moved to the 2nd line. Samsonov did Not EVER earn the right to demand anything, so he should have sat and kept his trap shut. Performing well in 3 or 4 games the whole year does not give him any power to demand trades. He did not make a difference whether he was in or out of the game. He was never going to miraculously turn into a sniper, especially on the Habs because he was not willing to dig pucks out of the corner or stand in front of the Net. It was best that we cut and run.
Carbo has lost the team? This is a joke. By rewarding players for working and producing and taking away ice time from those that are slumping. Such a bad coach! Oh yeah, Carbo has personally taken away the abilities of our top scorers?!!? He personally makes our D give-up stupid mental mistakes at crucial moments. He intimidates Huet so much that he has lost his confidence! What ever, these guys are professionals and we have seen they possess the ability when they play with emotion and heart! Maybe Carbo should do nothing a wait for his inevitable fate because that is what good coaches do?!?!
Yesterdays loss could have easily have been a win and the tone would have been a lot different today. Anyway, maybe the team is a reflection of the Fans. We win against a tough opponent and we are on top of the world, we lose a close match and the whole team stinks. There are a few exceptions to this madness, but there are also a few that are not happy Win or lose.
Dear Bob Gainey, I will not be happy until you trade all of our garbage off this team for Lecavier, Crosby, Drury, Ovechkin, and Briere?!?! You better toss in Lidstrom, Gonchar, Chara and Brodeur to beef up our Defensive punch to be on the safe side. You shouldn’t have to free up any room because you can make the numbers work and we would not want to hurt anybodies feelings?
Go Habs Go!
February 7, 2007 at 11:28 am
coutNY is right, it’s not Carbo’s fault that the Habs are just not very good. They have some good pieces to build on which should give everyone comfort but they are still very much a work in progress.
February 7, 2007 at 11:56 am
I’ve only got two words for Sammy: See Ya!
February 7, 2007 at 12:29 pm
I think Red Fisher has is going senile… or he’s hitting the bottle? Or just making a joke of the Habs fans situation….

Oh he is mocking Habs fans belief that Sid the Kid will ever suit up for the Habs. It doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the article so a little JD can’t be discounted.

I wanted to let the habs know that their #1 fan has passed away with Interstitial Lung Disease. Bob Everette, at age 62 passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2007. The obituary is in the Ottawa Citizen this week and he will be waked at the Kelly’s Funeral Home on Eagleson in Kanata, Ontario, Friday, February 7, 2007. He will be buried with his Montreal Canadian hockey shirt and his wife and daughter will also be wearing their shirts in his honour. It would be nice if the habs could acknowledge in some way his support over his lifetime.

Well my 2 cents,If you combine the total goals of Gainey ,Carbs,Jarvis and Muller through out their careers it will show U why no 5 on 5 goals, its to much defence minded coaching”by the best ever”,with no idea of what a power foward sposed to do,or even look like. When your top goal scorer is a defence man its proof in da pudding,so play that system, hell put on 4 D man at a time, but make shure U put in ONE HUGE GOAL SCORING, IN YOUR FACE, NORTH AMERICAN , MONSTER to go with them.

The biggest worry for all of us is the perception by other future free agents that Montreal is not a good destination. This is the really big problem with the sammy disaster.
Bummer.
February 7, 2007 at 1:26 pm
I think it’s good ,if you have the balls or ego to play for Montreal, then do not apply. Ask Souray!
February 7, 2007 at 1:27 pm
DON’T
February 7, 2007 at 1:30 pm
Why are the Leafs playing so well?
I don’t think there team is any better than ours. Are they?
There will be no coaching changes this year.
The ship will sink and we’ll miss the playoffs.
To make things worse, the Laffs will pass us.
Two Questions:
How come Samsonov never played on the first line with Koivu?
and how is Michael Ryder still on this team?
You waive Samsonov but not Ryder? He’s the worst player on this team.
I guess his “smaller” contract is more easily moved.

I think Carbo is just lacking experience. Gainey needs to take him by the hand and show him how to coach a team. But didn’t Gainey do that last year? Obviously Carbo didn’t learn too much from Gainey.
At the same time, Carbo has to work with what he has, which is very little. There simply is not alot of talent on this team, and the D has remained the same;( which wasn’t very good last year) We knew coming into this season, that the habs didn’t make alot of changes, so what could we expect? The problem was, they started off fast, so then everyone got on the bandwagon, and expected it to continue. Had the habs started like a 500 team, would we be reacting in the same manner? NO ! I was really surprised how well habs played for 2 months. I kept saying, “but how are they winning all these games, because on paper they’re not that good”. I was right, they’re not that good. they won some games they didn’t deserve to win, and they had alot of luck, combined with the fact that players were playing over their heads, and overachieving. What we have now are ” THE REAL HABS”! Since is how they performed last year. Unfortunately Gainey did NOT makes the changes necessary to make this team better. I am putting the onus on him! True, alot of UFA’s turned down offers to play here, but c’mon, there has to be some guys,(especially french canadians) who would love to play in their backyard, right?
So, unless, and until MAJOR changes occur, don’t expect anything from this team. I sincerely doubt they will make the playoffs, but I think the leafs will, because, even tho they aren’t blessed with alot of talent, they have heart and desire, which is an ingredient sorely missed on our team! Not all teams have alot of talent, but they make up for it with grit, passion, and desire. look at Calgary, not alot of talent, but boy do they have a strong work ethic! The habs will never change until management overhauls, and I mean OVERHAULS this team. The D is awful, no real snipers up front, and a really bad work ethic. Just a lack of apathy on this team, too bad! Let’s see just how bad Gainey wants to win. I think he is way too stagnant, like a lame duck GM. And signing Samsonov was never the answer! I guess building thru the draft is the only way things the habs will get better. I have very little confidence in Gainey, because he has not come thru!
