Steve Begin Breaks Foot

  • Steve Begin fractured his foot in Sunday’s game against Columbus and will be out of the lineup yet again.

It feels like Begin hasn’t even been part of this team this year due to all the games he’s missed.

An important gritty player the Habs could have used down the stretch.

I love Steve Begin, man, but is he ever a china doll… it’s too bad cuz the Habs are a different and better team with him playing. Picking him up on on the waiver draft before the ’02-’03 season from Buffalo was just Bob Gainey being THE GENIUS THAT HE IS.

    In Bob We Trust.

    That one hurts

  3. smiler , your a goalie rite, next game you play use standard hockey gear instead of goalie equipment and do it with NHL shots we’ll see how long you play before you end up in hospital. Carbo demanded Begin dive in front of pucks from the first game of the year, which he did ..and is suicide.

WHo here wants to pitch in a few dolars and get Joshtm laid. HE is on this site 24/7 and really seems like he has no goals in life or direction. HE probably considers us his friends. WE should all at least try to agree with his demented thoughts just to keep him sane.

Begin is a warrior and yes his pick up was a genuis move by LORD GAINEY.

  6. Ya sucks for begin he is a real warrior, one of the few players willing to sacrafice his body for the good of the team.

Btw i been reading joshtm’s post for a while, i see the humour in his statements and don’t have a problem with what he says at all. i appreciate that he seems to be willing to back his statements up, despite the fact that some people ridicule him. he actually makes alot of sense in some ways, if you take out the sarcasm etc, the base of his arguments seem to be sound.

  7. I think Joshtm just wants to see montreal get back on track and maybe actually contend for a cup again. that be said ,probably a much easier task getting someone laid. lol

  8. tough matchup for us tonight. washington has some big forwards who seem to have success hemming us in our own zone, how much time we spend in our own and our breakouts are the keys to the game IMO. basically if we can come out 50/50 in the overall 5 on 5 play we should be fine. unless of course our special teams falter.

  9. i meant how much time we spend in our own zone. correction for above post.

  10. WANTED IMMEDIATELY– 30 year old plus instant-impact, franchise-type veteran who is willing to put up with cold climate, intense media scrutiny and hockey crazed fans (as well as joshtm’s comments.) Must also tolerate being swarmed by autograph seekers when out to dinner with wife/girlfriend or both. Applicants with children need not apply because their kids will be beaten up on the school grounds on regular basis if their father ever so much as loses a face off in the defensive zone. Canadian applicants will be given top priority. Please submit your CV to Bob Gainey and this blog so we can begin the process of picking you apart and explaining why you don’t have the maturity or necessary make up to play for les Habitants.

Job Benefit: You get to wear the Blue, Blanc et Rouge on your back!

There! That should fix everything. We can just sit back, and watch the applications pile in.

Rebuilding the Habs will not come that easy! Gainey is actually on the right track even though things look bad right now.

  11. LJ55,

If you agree with everything joshtm says, are you condoning the fact that he insults everyone on here if their opinion doesn’t match his?

I’ve been reading for a few weeks now, and can’t believe how this guy hasn’t been banned, although I realize to do so is almost impossible.

He can certainly post his points, but is it necessary to absolutely insult everyone else?

  12. on a hockey note, team 1200 now says that Souray has been in Carbs office for about an hour and did not leave the bell center with the rest of the team. They say they have an affiliate reporter on site waiting for him to come out to try and question him.

  13. Interesting rumors because trading Souray for a couple of prospects or future picks would actually make alot of sense in rebuilding this team.

I’m all for getting joshtm laid!!!

Put me down for $10 to get him hooched, no wait, make it $20 and we’ll throw him into a threesome with Swedish twins.

The poor guy’s probably so backed up, we’ll see how the twins react to getting hit by a mayonnaise truck!

ONCE AGAIN, In BOB We Trust.

  15. All that being said. The Habs should hand the Capitals a loss tonight to stay in the playoff hunt. Keeping an eye on the Thrashers should be interesting because those guys are also slumping which might mean that the door is still open to this year’s playoffs for the Habs.

XHabfan, as a goalie, while I appreciate my defence blocking shots, I tell them to let the shot go by. I hate deflections but even more, I hate when they end up taking themselves out of the play. Lying on the ice sprawled while an attacker casually steps around you after he fakes you out of your jock is not admirable.

I doubt Carbo made Begin block shots, Steve’s been a china doll for many seasons before Coach Guy came aboard.

I have a big tourney here this weekend so I’ll let ya know how many of my guys go down and ‘block’ a shot. Actually if anybody here is 35+ years old, from the Orangeville area and wants to play, lemme know, we could pretend we’re warriors and drink massive amounts of beer… I really like hockey.

Oh yeah, the Swedish twins… Daniel and Henrik, the Sedin sisters.

  18. lol, smiler

    rob – right on man

also, I’m a huge broooons fan tonight. We gotta win and the broons gotta kick the snot outta the “yet to be rolled spliffs “(leafs)

I fucking HATE the Leafs, the Bruins at least have my utter and total respect as rivals, their fans are great and hockey smart unlike “Leaf Nation”, a bunch of morons. My second favourite team is whoever’s playing the Leafs.

5 bucks? – them some cheap ho’s, sign me up! I think we can all admit that the Cup ain’t coming here this year unless Halak pulls some Dryden/Roy magic out of his butt. Not a bad idea to unload as much salary as possible (Souray, Sammy, Kovy) in order to free up some coin to really make a splash in the offseason. Lecavalier (or Marleau) in a Habs jersey by next September? One can dream …

  21. Kev

five bucks actually get you twins.

long as you dont mind if they’re conjoined.

team 1200 now recanting on their earlier broadcast

  22. That’s to bad that you don’t know your facts concerning the Habs and coach Carbo Smiler, but it did make a bruin fan happy , U GO MAN !!! And as for moving Souray,by doing so you move the leader out of town and his size and shot. Leaving one big D man in Komisarek as well as one protector, insane thinking !Oh yeah,it does leave us the likes of:Samsonov,Kovealev,Niinimaa,Bonk,Johnson,Rivet,Boullion and Huet, for the playoff run and perhaps next year, that’s dyslectic. There’s a rash of injury’s occurring with the other club’s and it’s a chance to move them on out,in fact the Oilers can have them all for Smyth.Don’t fu*k it up Bob !!!!

Amazing how one win in a slump will all but take pressure off Gainey. But really, the hunt to the cup is far from over, the season is not lost yet. Losing Begin, who was part of the winning spread before Xmas is sad too. It kind of reinforces that Gainey needs to find someone, practically no choice now.

It’ll be good to see Halak play a real team for once, we’ll see what he is made of or whether like Penney in years past whether the pressure will wilt him.

I wonder when Kovalev is gonna get off his hissy fit and join the team, not that not having him has made much difference….

  24. The Canadiens need to play well the rest of the way to make the playoffs. The interesting thing about it is that although they have been in a tailspin for a couple of months, they are only a couple of points out of 6th place and even a few out of 5th so they can still finish as high as 4th if they play well. That is parity in the new NHL that even though you struggle, you still have a chance at a playoff spot and even better.

Maybe if they make the nets bigger next year that will help us, because we can’t find the net now. I think Samsonov, Ryder and Higgins are playing pin the tail on the donkey, except they’re acting more like the donkey.
Since Begin is hurt, how about bringing up Kostityn? We need new blood on this team, because the old blood is type O, as in zero!

  26. Hey Joshtm;

Is BEgin now considered a broken down player. he will be out for 10 days, does this count?

ALso you still have not told me what this stoney mountain is? You have a hard time answering questions sometimes I’ve noticed.

  27. NOw that Begin is out Garth Murray will be able to shine. Just kidding.

  28. Oh yeah, ship em out ,move new blood in and what’s the best part about it ? Bob & Guy can’t stop it,no choice.YEEEEAAA HHHAAA !!!!

  29. Oh yeah smiler, this site proves that the followers of the Habs are real Mensa candidates.

hey Snake you know you were so busted, good recovery though, so its that boring in the Peg eh? Too bad you bunch were such horrible fans, and your Winnipege press and your taxes destroyed the Jets, oh no we are on the same slippery slide in Montreal, won’t be long before the habs are in the same league as the Jets, that is no league…hahahahaaa!!!!!

  31. Yo, joshtm:

That’s how it works in Montreal, baby! We beat the Columbus Blue Jackets! Woo hoo, next stop the Stanley Cup! Aaron Downey for MVP! Which “real team” are you referring to by the way? Washington! Can you keep the references to Steve Penney down a bit. You are making me laugh! Good points, Ziman.

PS. The players’ warranties actually say that one must be out a minimum of two weeks to be considered “broken down.”

Yippie Kai ya!!! Round em up, ship em out! Giddyup!

  33. T RUM i didn’t say i agree with everything Joshtm says or how he says it. I can understand where he is coming from. If you just look at the message he is trying to get across and ignore the “insults” there is some validity to “some” of his statements.

Begin is broke down a little ,however he isn’t old or making 4 million dollars plus on the top two lines. In fact i don’t have a problem having the “right” vets on the bottom 2 lines. At least they come cheaper and aren’t underproducing based of dollar value. I have a problem with broke down underachieving vets on the top lines, taking valuable minutes away from our youngsters.

    for example
Samsanov has what 8 goals playing top 2 line minutes for the “bulk” of the season. I can’t see any of the young players/prospects we have producing any less with those kind of minutes than he does. Same argument can be made for some of the other veterans on the top 2 lines this year.

Too bad Bob there doesn’t read the damn package afore he signs them there hired mercernaries, where’d he get that Russian Retard Samsonov, now that one ain’t broken but neither is it working neither….must be a Honda recall too….or how about Murray? Or the list goes on and on….

  35. Maybe Gainey will right the ship and learn from his mistakes, or maybe he won’t and we’ll continue in the cycle we’ve been in for 15 more years.

I think this trade deadline will let us know for sure which direction we are going.

  36. At least the kids are getting the job done for the most part. hopefully that will point him in the right direction.

If every Hab played every night with the same amount of heart as Begin this team would not be fighting for a playoff spot but would be contending for 1st in the east!

  39. If Bettmans still around in 15 years,he’ll take away the skates and ice and make em hoover around in jet pacs ,you watch. I can’t believe anyone that short is involved in physical sports, mind you when he laces them up he gains 1.5″lol

Pierre McGuire on the team 990, reported that San Jose has recalled Steve Bernier form the minors, probably to showcase him for other teams.

Bob damnit we need a guy of his size, skill, heart, speed, and age.

He said Benier and Matt Carle are the most likely to be delt for players. Marc-Edward Vlasic and Michalek are untouchable though.

Bob you need at least one of these guys. Sell damnit. This team isn’t going to win the cup with both or one of these two guys you will in the near forwards.

  42. I say lets aquire bernier

  43. Bernier in teh minors? It better have been on rehab assignment. Last thing we need is some guy thats is hyped up that spends all his time in the minors. AKa Gilbert Dionne.

  44. JOshtm;

Fans like me were the reason teh Jets left. WE cheered for other teams. OH and by the way all the former Jets fans became Leafs fans, not habs fans.

  45. OH and I have mentioned in my blogs 100 times that I am from WInnipeg. YOur no rocket scientist.

  46. Joshtm;

ANswer my questions already. Stop rambling.

  47. It’s quite obvious Gainey will make a trade that will end our playoff hopes. We’re in the same situation Leafs were last year. We did good the first half and then started giving up. I still think Habs can make to the playoffs, but they wouldn’t be able to NOT BEAT THE FINAL CUP CONTENDER.

  48. I guess the reason ex-jets fans became Leafs fans was simply because they had a tradition of losing and didnt want to change things.

  50. #50 joshtm says:
    February 20, 2007 at 9:28 pm

Or how about actually finally having someone in front of the other net for a change? What a big difference. Higgins almost singlehandedly has destroyed the caps. OHEEHOOHEHH OH AYY…good to hear the forum sing even though its that faggot song.

What about the elbow penalty on Perezhogin man talk about a stupid and bad call.

Typical habs, now they have a lead, just sit back and watch the caps skate rings around the defense….that line of Milroy, Lapierre and Lats has them spinning, that’s why the caps got lots of penalties, the rookies are hitting, unlike the old folgy Johnson there, did you see them knock his walker over and he fell like a ton of bricks….
